Ronn Moss Responds As To Why He Did Not Return To B&B For Stephanie's Goodbye Party!

Fans wondering, why Ridge didn’t show up at Stephanie’s Goodbye Party? Or, if Ronn Moss (Ridge) was asked to come back and participate in the episodes, after he quit the series and last aired in September, got a response from the popular star via Twitter over the weekend.
One of Ronn’s many fans asked him why he did not return for the key episodes that had all of the Forrester family gathered around Stephanie as she bid farewell to each and every one of them, before she took off to live out her final days. Ronn responded with a tweet stating, “Several reasons. I’m not on the show anymore . They didn’t ask me.”
So what do you think of Ronn not being part of Susan Flannery’s Stephanie Goodbye Party episodes? And, Ridge not being there for his mother, realizing B&B had some reshuffling to do with the timing of two of their key stars deciding to leave the series? Let us know your thoughts!
didnt miss ron at all..thought the cast did a great job with out em,,besides it would have taken away from the storyline ,,stefanie…
I totally disagree. I’ve watched B&B since day 1 and of all her kids Stephanie was the closest to Ridge. They had the biggest emotional tie sand I was extremely upset that Bill Bell thought this would be lost on people. He should have been invited back or did something when Ron Moss was still on camera. So ridiculous it just may make me stop watching after so many years. Extremely disappointed in seeing there goodbyes played out on screen.
I totally agree with you. In a case like this, all her children SHOULD HAVE BEEN there to say goodbye
Um Shelly, that should be BRAD Bell, not BILL Bell. Brad Executive Produces and Head Writes the show. Just a point of reference.
Yeah it should have been BRAD Bell not Bill Bell. As an original viewer of both shows it obviously was a mistake.
Exactly. They need to go a different route anyway…why not have another actor replace him? the circle of always going back to Ridge…why not try something new and exciting??
I totally agree I thought it was absolutely stupid to not have him there at such a sad time. He and his mum were very close on the show and for him to not be there when she was dying was ridiculous. Even if for some reason he could not or wouldn’t come back for these episodes why couldn’t they just at least mention that he were there with her at the cabin to see her while no one else was there. We all know that Ridge would never abandon his mother at a time such as this!! Super disappointed.. and the first time I thought about turning off b&b for good. What on earth were the writers thinking? Oh that’s right I’m sure they were focusing their attention on some one else right!!
Its completely unbelievable that Ridge, who is still attached to both of Stephanies apron strings, wouldnt be there for her death.
As nice as the episodes have been its been a glaring absence.
Ronn Moss states what I already thought. Still, I wish something could have been negotiated. Stephanie is dying and Ridge was her passion. I would have liked to see him there. I suspect there is a recast ahead and there should be. Ridge just cannot disappear, and a new actor with diferent energy may bring something to the character Moss did not, providing new directions as we seek in midlife. For Ridge he could find closure with Brooke or Taylor, but with one of them for good…. make peace with his children and the man he considers his father… seek new challenges such as politics.
Brad Bell, I hope, will right the ship after B&B has been aimlessly and stupidly charting waters in the Liam-Hope-Steffy sea. Like a small child, when B&B is good, it is very veyr good, but when it is bad, it is bad!
go on glad he did not show up B/B did not need him………or needs him…
In the show’s reality it made no sense for Stephanie’s oldest son not to come to the party. I know they said later that Stephanie asked him not to come because she didn’t want Ridge to face all his drama with Brooke. And on some level I do get why Brad Bell was not prepare yet for Brooke and Ridge to meet after the split. Maybe he wanted fans to remember Ronn and Kelly in their characters happy at their wedding and bringing back Ronn as Ridge just for one episode would spoil that.
Personally I think they could have used a body double, seen Ridge from behind, have Stephanie say her goodbyes in private and have the camera never on this person’s face. Then all the other characters could have caught a glimpse of a man leaving the party; Brooke would have realize it was Ridge, run after him but he would be in a car driving away before she could talked to him. I think that would have worked.
Off topic a bit, but didn’t Ronn Moss leave the show once before? I seemed to recall that for some reason. Then they brought in the character of Nick played by Jack Wagner to be Brooke’s new love interest or I am remembering it wrong?
That would have been a great idea! Didn’t think of it myself, but it works. If they couldn’t- or wouldn’t want to- get Ronn back, that scenario would have provided the audience with some sense of closer while still enforcing the notion that Ridge as we knew him is gone from the canvas.
I haven’t exactly watched the episodes other than a few clips, but I heard characters say that Ridge was coming. I don’t like that Brad in essence deceived the audience by telling them he was coming, knowing he wasn’t inviting Ronn back…or making any substitute plans as per your suggestion…and then having a ‘gotcha’ moment to tell us he isn’t going to be there after all only after the fact. I think that’s pretty low of him, and he doesn’t strike me as that kind of an executive. I know soaps like to surprise as best and as much as they can, and often employ the old bait and switch on its audience, but this wasn’t the surprise many loyal fans were hoping for and I think it was pretty low of him to dangle the possibility in front of them in the first place.
As for your question, I’m not in a position to answer as I haven’t been a loyal viewer, but I was under the impression as part of the “fab 4” he’s been there since the beginning…..?
Mary SF, as per your question, yes, Ronn was off the show briefly and Lane Davies (Mason Capwell, Santa Barbara) substituted while Ronn was out for a bit. I don’t remember why Ronn was off the show at the time but I do know that it was Lane Davies who subbed for Ronn.
It wasn’t necessary for him to return. Ronn Moss left the show to do other things, so he should just move on. I hope they don’t replace “Ridge”, though. IMO, he is no longer necessary.
millions of americans are on food stamps and unemployed and under employed and living below the poverty line. hollywood actors like moss are still generating press bec he left mad at b&b for refusing to take a pay cut. hollywood is completely out of touch w/ reality.
RM did not leave due to taking a pay cut, he left to pursue his music dream. Money was never a factor in his leaving.
Toscanti,
You are sadly mistaken. Ronn Moss DID indeed leave because he was none too happy with the contract offer he got from the brass at B&B and CBS which I can see from Ronn’s point of view because if Brad Bell had not done all of those remote location shoots in the last year (with Italy likely costing the show upwards of around $2 million to do), he would have had the money to pay Ronn. However, it was not the sole reason he decided to leave the show. He also left the show because he needed to recharge his batteries, he and his wife Devon had just gone through a horrible car crash that could have cost them both their lives, and of course, he wanted to get back to his music. And of course, I think he was getting tired of playing the same role for over 25 years played into his decision to leave as well. But money was a bigger issue than you thought.
bc I agree with you but maybe he was thinking he might better go to other avenues for a living because this country becoming where everbody is on the dole, how long can soaps go on. Hate to tell you but when you destroy what our country was founded on sooner or later and trust me it will be sooner you become just like Greece. Sooner or later you will use the taxpayer myself and others who are contributing all of our money. That’s right our money not Washington’s.
I missed Bridget more than anyone else. They couldn’t get Ashley Jones for at least one scene with Stephanie? 🙁
Yes, that would have been nice. After all, Steph helped deliver Bridget.
Ridge was always her favorite, big mistake that then never had goodbye scene. The ratings will go in toilet soon.
I do not thing that is the whole story. There are always two sides.
So much for closure…
No doubt about it, Ridge definitely should have been there because of his extremely close tie to Stephanie. Additionally, the reason for his departure was really idiotic. Seriously, over a text from Deacon. If Moss will not return, then B&B needs to recast Ridge.
It’s a soap. Actors and their characters come and go and we get it. Disappointing but B&B is not one story or one character.
Would have been nice for him to return if just for a private scene with Steph. If Ronn had wanted to attend, I’m sure he could have reached out.
I think Brad Bell thought Ronn Moss was going to give in and come back. If he didn’t he would have filmed some phone conversations before Moss left. I know what happens on the 26th so I will skip it this love fest BB has with KKL makes me sick . I just wish she had left the show when RM did.
At first it was endearing and sweet that Brooke and Stephanie made peace, but like everything else B&B had to go and over play it to the point it became rather silly and sickening sweet. And no way any husband worth a damn would leave his dying wife to attend a business meeting. If Brooke is the only one there when Stephanie passes I will be shaking my head in disbelief that is the way Brad Bell wanted to play it.
I’m kind of happy that Ronn did not return to The Bold and the Beautiful for the goodbye. I’m actually happy Ridge is off of the series. His annoyance and hypocritical-self is not missed at all!
Brad Bell is an idiot.
I think this was really roon thing about not coming back,. he did not want to take a pay cut and this day age he should have and i belive that brad want him back and think ridge not saying godbye to his mother is heartbreaking
Shame on Bell for not asking for the sake of the storyline and the show. With Ridge and Stephanie gone, B & B may very well be cancelled. Stephanie is still on the show until November 26, so there is still time for Ron Moss to come back just once more. After she dies Ron can continue on with his plans without skipping a beat. This should be about what the fans want and not any egos about a contract! Please come back one more time Ron for us and not for Bell! You are truly missed on the show and it does not make sense without you are stephanie. I respect Ron’s choice to move on but I wish the the producer and Ron would come together for the storyline and fans sake and respect us also. 25 years for the these two actors has to end like this? Really? DO THE RIGHT THING B & B AND GET HIM BACK FOR US!
If its true that the Italy remote cost $2million, then that in itself is truly idiotic, what’s worse is that they went all the way over there for Liam and Hope’s wedding and the characters aren’t even together anymore!!! What a waste!!!!! And for Brooke to give Bill a pass and be flirting with him after he’s spent the last 2yrs tormenting her daughter is beyond idiotic….the whole Steffy/Liam/Hope stroy was way overplayed and now they have Liam and Steffy all lovey dovey and dating….Liam and Hope never even had a chance bc someone was always coming between them(Rick, Bill, Oliver, Steffy, Taylor, Thomas) they never got a fair shot at a relationship……
I agree with Richard. What’s up with everyone coming between Hope and Liam. But I have to wonder if the addition of Don Diamont, aka Bill Spencer had something to do with Ron Moss leaving. A new Alpha male on the show probably didn’t set to well with “Ridge Forrester”
I do not know the Bell’s, but based on watching the shows (Y&R, B&B) when William (Bill) Bell was still with us, verses Brad’s tenure at the helm. I am overall profoundly disappointed that Brad has allowed ego to diminish the work of art his father created. Removing the option for Mr Moss to return (by at least not asking him) for one scene to bring a close to the legacy of his fathers incredible brillance and creation of “The Bold and The Beautiful” is sad, disturbing and gives what I believe is a clear blue print of his loyalty to the cast that started it all and his objective for only monetary gains. I have watched B&B for the entire 25years 19 of those with my mother before she passed away, it was a son and mother experience that I will never forget. I have watched Y&R for 35 years, with the help of VHS, DVR and a play by play from mom. I do not say this lightly nor as a means of hatred, but I find myself moving forward with no desire to view either show again. We pay homage to the genius of those that have passed by carrying on their legacy, not by allowing it to simply exist for the sake of a dollar.
Unfortunately, a soap opera is a business so at the end of the day the powers that be care more about the bottom line than honoring legacies. It is a shame, because many viewers feel as you do that watching a soap is can be a part of life’s experience and not just entertainment. We grew up on these stories, watching them with our mothers, maybe fathers, aunts or uncles, best friends, children and in some cases grandchildren. So we are disappointed when those experiences are reduced to ratings and a dollar sign. Whether you continued to watch or not is your choice, but either way it sounds like you have a lot of wonderful memories connected to these shows, and that is one things networks, or EP’s can never take away from you. Cherish that- for that is your legacy.
Reports are floating around he was asked and declined. I do not think any of you realize how many good actors have run through this show brought on with much fan fare and poof they were gone I would give you a list but it would take pages.
I think it stinks Ron Moss wasn’t asked or didn’t that he didn’t ask them to let him show up at the party to say good bye. I think he has gotten too big for his britches. Too have this “I am so much in love with each other wddding.” between Brook and Ridge and then he qiuits. I think the reason the writers gave that he didn’t come back was so lame it makes me think they are under estimating we the viewers. Kill him off if he thinks he is too good for the show. Or he was kidnapped or lost at sea at least. Not the studip she lied again especially about Deacon. What stupid writing!!!!
Speaking of viewers who cares about the 25 t0 34 year olds. The soaps are for us older woman and yes, men, who have been watching for years and we are retired and need these shows to continue. We are the ones who have the money to buy the products that are used to pay for the shows. Get with it all of you. Kay
Let’s not forget that Susan Flannery did indeed not re-sign her contract HOWEVER she did stick around so that Brad B. could give both the character and the actor the proper sendoff that was so deserving. Which was way more professional and classy than what Ronn Moss did. Not to mention that if he truely valued and cared about Susan as a co-worker and friend — HE himself should have talked with Brad B. about such an a arrangement to come back and surprise the cast, especially Susan — since Susan even attempted to intervene and asked him to come back so that he could say goodbye to her (his mother).
If I were Brad Bell I would not even bother with RONN MOSS — if he has a desire to bring back the character of Ridge then I’d say definitely RECAST — just no more Ronn Moss. When I first heard of his quitting, I actually thought to myself what a great opportunity for Brad to bring a new and much better actor than Ronn Moss. He’s a lousy actor…no more….
Just saw some of stephanies last episode today but could not watch the end due to it not making sense. I dont care how long Brooke has been on the show, she should not have been the person with Stephanie in the end. Bell messed this storyline up not asking Ron Moss to return @ least for this last episode. After today Bell and Moss could have done whatever they wish. The fans were the ones who got hurt! Ron Moss said one of the reasons he did not return is that he was not asked! THAT WAS VERY DISAPOINTING AND DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL INVOLVED ESPECIALLY THE FANS! Unsure if this show will survive cus of the way this ended. I dont care how much of friends Brooke and Stephanie became they could have had Ridge standing by watching silently without Stephanie knowing –JUST HAVE THE MAN THERE TO LEAVE US IN SUPENSE WANTING MORE. Then change characters if need be but it should not have ended this way! Shame on you Brad Bell! Thanks for letting your egos get in the way of what would have been a WONDERFUL STORYLINE AND A GREAT SEND OFF FOR SUSAN FLANNERY!
Shame on Ronn Moss and B&B for not thinking of their fans!!!!!!! Ron should have been there as the devoted and loving son, Ridge to say his final farewell to Stephanie. Even though Ron noted he was not invited to return for Stephanie’s final farewell, he should have invited himself and B&B should have gladly arranged for a special guess appearance. It was not fair that we, the fans lost two great actors without having a chance to see them appear together at such touching time. Ron’s departure ended one of the soap opera’s greatest love couples ever. Shame, shame and shame again!!!! I still love you Ron but I miss you as Ridge. Please, please come back. I also love you Susan and will really miss your character as Stephanie. B&B will not be the same without you. I have been a fan of yours since I watched you play Laura Horton on Days of Our Lives. I wish you and Ron the best and thank you for many years of sharing yourselves with me. God bless you both. B&B shame on you!You have a lot to make up to B&B fans. Please do not put Brook with Bill Spencer. I suggest you use a substitue Ridge and hopefully Ron will return as the one and only Ridge sometime (soon) in the future.
I can’t believe I’m actually posting-much less about Ronn Moss BUT i really enjoy this soap! It is paced so beautifully & I want them to reveal that he someway, somehow DID see Stephanie. I also MISS his obtuse ways!
Yes, the show has certainly changed over the years. I was drawn in by the Brooke/Caroline/Ridge/ triangle and Brooke’s cop fiance-remember that! The writing has suffered ups and downs over the years and with that the characters were suppose to elvove. But one thing remained a constant-Ridge and his mom. I guess they thought a Brooke/Steph truce would be a replacement. Poor writing is what will be the death knell for B&B.
I think Ronn Moss will come back once he finds out the music thing was not all it’s cracked up to be. The question will be: Would Bell let Moss come back?
BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL WILL NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL RIDGE FORRESTER.(.RONN MOSS) SOONER OR LATER THEY (THE PRODUCERS IS GOING TO REALIZE …LOSING RONN…MEANS LOSING LOYAL..”RIDGE” FANS LIKE MYSELF.. I USE TO BE GLUED TO THE TV AT 2pm..JUST TO SEE RONN..NO ONE ELSE…NOW..I JUST COVER MY HEAD AND GET AN EXTRA 1/2 HOUR SLEEP……
IMAGINE..THEY ARE TRYING TO USE LIAM, STEFY & HOPE TO REPLACE THE SAGA BETWEEN BROOKE-RIDGE-TAYLOR. I WAS NEVER A FAN OF TAYLOR & RIDGE (I HATED THEM TOGETHER) MY LOVE & DEVOTION WAS ALL ABOUT BROOKE n RIDGE…aka BRIDGE EVEN BROOKE STORYLINE HAS GOTTEN BORING WITH RIDGE…AND THE NERVE OF THOSE WRITERS TRYING TO TURN HER INTO A SLUT….TO GO & SLEEP WITH HER SISTER’S HUSBAND…REALLY WRITER’S OF B&B…..THAT IS THE AWARD WINNING STORYLINE YOU COULD COME UP WITH…LIKE I SAID BEFORE NO RONN…NO WATCHING B&B FOR ME. BUT I THINK RONN SHOULD TRY PRIMETIME AND FORGET ABOUT DAYTIME…….ITS THE END OF THE ROAD FOR SOAPS I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM JUST WALKING AROUND AT HIS HOUSE, COOKING, TALKING WITHOUT A SHIRT OF COURSE…..WAIT-A-MINUTE!!!! THAT SOUNDS LIKE A REALITY SHOW….I KNOW THE PEOPLE IN ITALY WOULD LOVE THAT.
I LOVE YOU RIDGE..AND I MISS SEEING YOU ON TV..BUT NOW I AM HOOKED ONLINE WATCHING RONNS GARAGE AND VIEWING YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEOS & OLD B&B EPISODES…BTW RONN..aka RIDGE i am the mistress via ur twitter follower @btriumc DID YOU SEE HIS TWEET YESTERDAY follow him
I’ve been watching the B & B for 30 years. Ron Moss was my heartthrob as well as many other women’s. Lately, we was put on the back burner and not used as much as Bill’s son. I know the staff likes to appeal to the younger set but the older viewers who have watched for years are very faithful. I think they should bring Moss back, give him what he requests as far as salary
(if that was the issue) and give him equal time with the younger set. Brooke is great as was Stephanie. Everyone likes to see stories with people of all ages. I hope the writer’s and produces are not ageists and have consideration for all of their viewers. My husband who is a doctor likes to also come home from his long workday and watch this soap.
Shabby show,shabby writing,shabbyplots
We are only just viewing the final episodes in Australia now with the goodbyes said at the party today. I along with so many other fans cannot believe Ridge was not present if only in a small scene. The character has just basically disappeared and even more obvious in this absence is the brief return of sisters Felicia and Kristans appearance. It’s sooooo messed up. I would go so far to compare it to the final episode of Friends and not seeing Rachel or Monica for the final episode. It makes no sense and professionally speaking wasn’t well planned for the devoted fans.
That aside it’s been very sad viewing indeed and I will continue to watch it 🙂
I think it’s totally unbelievable that Stephanie’s oldest son would not show up for her
going home gathering. This make me not want to see this show o believe in any of it.
Ronn Moss not being on the soap just isn’t the same.
Everyone wishes you could bring him back since you did not write him off. He is in Europe at the other location designing.
Also, would like to see Thorne in the storylines. He is very good and he needs to be seen and heard much more then he is. Where is Thorne’s daughter? Like she dropped off the earth. Have not seen her appear as a teen ager or young adult.
The show just insn’t as good without Stefanie and Ridge. I am a faithful viewer.
Just watched the episode where Stephanie dies in Brooke’s arms. having followed this show for over 2 decades i have to say i thought it was ridiculous that Brooke was the one & only person that Stephanie wanted to be with when she died. shouldn’t it have been her husband Eric, sister Pam, her son Thorn, daughters Felicia, Kristin or even her best friend Taylor? you will be sadly missed Susan Flannery!
There will never be another Ridge, he was that unique. I have also watched since its insertion and for me its been going down hill for some time now. For example, enough already with the Hope, Steffie & Liam Saga! I know several friends who have quit watching this soap because of poor writing story lines. Most women, housewives who watch range from 30’s-60’s in age and arent interested any more in these teenagers. So in closing we don’t care who Liam picks! COME UP WITH NEW STORY LINES!!
I. Started watching bb almost 20 years ago in kenya, africa. Ridge was always my favorite. I no longer enjoy the program
Was very disappointed…
Ronn can stay gone. He is not needed. In fact they can take Brooke out too. All she does is screw every man in town. Tired of it. Now she is after Bill, who is married to her sister. I guess none of that matters. She has screwed her daughter’s men too!!!!!!
i agree with you to an extent they should get rid of brooke she is a slut and its gotten old really fast she has gone through all the forrester men her daughters men im surprised thy havent made upa ascen ewhere she hits on liam roflmao but i really think thy shoudl bring back ridge it broke my heart thy got rid of steohanie i balled my eyes out during thm last few episodes
After watching B & B since its beginning here in Oz in March 87, I must say I have been very saddened by the recent departures of Ronn Moss and Susan Flannery. To my viewers mind there is no excuse for Ridge not attending his mother’s passing. After all it was the passion of this bind which was the glue for all story lines. Brooke of course has and always will be my favourite, but if they are thinking that Bill is going to provide some foil for romance and drama I am GONE!…thanks Ronn and Susan and blessings from a loyal fan from Oz.
No Ridge at Stephanie’s sendoff party was probably one the biggest cockups in the history of the series. It simply made no sense, no matter how they tried to explain it.
i would have to agree with you on this, ridge and stephanie were so close it really didnt make any sense that he did come to her farewell i was truely and utterly shocked and taken aback that he didnt show up i thought for sure that at any moment that he would walk int he dorrand when he didnt i was staring at the tv like WTF!! what the heck is going on here something aint right and that is when i had the feeling that b&b dropped ron moss i think he is covering p for them i think they dropped him. which isnt right and i hope to bob he comes back and takes his rightful place on the show and kick this other douchebag out of there he dont belong he dont even idk he dotn loook the part of ridge whatsoever and i really dont lke him i want moss back
The show is strong enough to survive the departure of any of the characters……just wait and see!!!
i give you props i have nver heard of another guy besides my dad that watched soaps haha
I would like to see a story line with Ridge’s son RJ come into play. Maybe bring back a new Ridge (only if Ron Ross) is set on not returning that is. I just think a young RJ could really mix things up a bit between the families. Think about it, RJ is the brother of both Steffy and Hope…..
wait taylor is gone for good as well wtf!!!! this aint right steffy is still there and this new guy playing ridge dnt look right in the show. ron moss was in this soap for how many yrs and thn thy jst drop him like tht and hire this new guy they could have at least gotten sumone who looked better adn had the really dark hair, steffy looked like both hunter and ron even though they are not really related but now she dnt look like this new guy, i really dont like this new way b and b is going with this, i want to kno why hunter left i want to kno why ron left for that matter. they are the true ridge and taylor i am 25 years old and i have been watchin this show pretty much my whole life and i hate when they replace people it not right i seriously dont like this new guy i realize that he came from a different soap and that his fans like hi but i really dont think he gonna make th e cut as playing ridge forrester. he already isnt making the cut wella t least in my eyes its bs i really dont like the idea and im pretty sure there are others out there that agree with me on this they need to bring back ron moss he is ridge forrester and always will be its like this new guy is just filling in adn liek i stated before i really dont think its a good idea
That probably explains why soap operas are not real.
I just find it disgusting that the people of B&B did not invite Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge) to return although he had been on the show since it aired in 1987. He is a part of the show regardless of someone else (Thorsten Kaye) taking his place as Ridge Forrester.
I am also upset about some other actors/actresses who were taken off the show as well. I miss these characters so much: Bridget, Samantha Kelly, Caitlin Ramirez, Hector Ramirez, Darla Forrester, Sally Spectra, Macy Alexander, Nick Marone, Dayzee Carter, so on.
I still watch B&B today even though I do not like that the really good characters keep disappearing from the show.

General Hospital
GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘Guiding Light’s’ Grant Aleksander Shares Heartfelt Remembrance of TV Daughter, Hayden Panettiere On What Would Have Been Her 37th Birthday

The tragic death of Hayden Panettiere last Sunday on August 21 continues to rock the entertainment world as her passing is still under investigation. Sadly, the former Guiding Light and Nashville star, died just days before her 37th birthday.
Now Grant Aleksander who played her on-screen father, Phillip Spaulding on Guiding Light a role he played on and off for nearly 30 years, shared a touching tribute with The Locher Room via Instagram, to his former TV daughter on her birthday on Friday, August 21.
It was back in 1996-2000 that Panettiere played the role of Phillip and Beth’s (Beth Chamberlin) daughter, Lizzie Spaulding. When Hayden was on-screen her performances were outstanding even as a little girl.

Aleksander began, When I think of Hayden the first image that comes is of her running down the hall in the studio with a huge, toothy grin on her face. Literally bursting with joy. And that’s what she gave to us. Pure, infectious joy. That and a talent that belied her years.”
“She was a natural with an instinctive understanding of acting that most adult actors can only dream of possessing. But that’s not what I’ll remember most about her. It’s that sunshine she brought to all of us that were lucky enough to be in her orbit that will stay with me, expressed Grant.
He concluded with, “I’ll always cherish the years I got to be her tv Dad. I wish I could have seen her one more time just to tell her how proud I was of her. She’s left us way too soon. We can only hope that she’s finally found the peace that eluded her in her short life. Rest in peace Princess!”
Michael Fairman TV previously shared emotional tributes from many of Hayden’s co-stars here, plus Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville) who wrote a beautiful tribute to his former co-star.
So, do you remember the scenes between a young Lizzie and Phillip on Guiding Light? What did you think of Grant Aleksander’s words? Let us know via the comment section below. Here’s just a sampling below, of how great Hayden was with her scene partner, Grant.
