The Screen Actors Guild Awards has a new name this year, now dubbed the Actor Awards and on Sunday, March 1 and streaming on Netflix, the coveted honor for the best in television and motion picture as voted on by members of actor’s guild, were handed out in ceremonies emanating from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

The 32-year-old awards show brought back Kristen Bell as the host of the ceremony for the second year in a row. During the just concluded ceremony, Sarah Paulson had the honors of introducing the always moving In Memoriam segment.

Before the acting community paid tribute to those that passed, Paulson shared, “This year we have lost some true giants, our teachers, our co-workers, our inspirations and our friends. All of us had been lifted by them and are happier, wiser and made just a bit more expansive by their shared spirit, and we must remember how lucky we are to have been changed by them, and we have been.”

General Hospital’s Anthony Geary, who played the legendary Luke Spencer on General Hospital from 1978-2015 and with one more appearance in 2017, was part of the tribute. Geary died at age 78 in Amsterdam back a few months ago on December 14, 2025. Luke’s iconic dance of Luke and Laura  in Wyndham’s department store was juxtaposed with Geary’s last moment of his run where Luke says goodbye to Port Charles a before heading into the fog.

Also remembered, was the one and only Tristan Rogers, the acclaimed star of both General Hospital and The Young and the Restless as Robert Scorpio and Colin Atkinson, respectively. Tristan died from lung cancer, back on August 15,2025.  Eileen Fulton, the first villainess of the soaps and As the World Turns who passed away at 91, also received recognition for her long-running role as Lisa on the CBS soap opera.

Patricia Crowley, who appeared as Mary Scanlon on Port Charles from 1997 to 2003, and also on General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful was shown in the segment. The TV and film vet passed away back on September 14, 2025 at the age of 91.

James Van Der Beek, the late actor who died this month at 48 from cancer began the In Memoriam known for his role as the leading role of Dawson in Dawson’s Creek, also appeared on As the World Turns. In addition, Grey’s Anatomy star, Eric Dane, who also just passed and from ALS last month at 53 was also honored.

Other soap alums included were:: Julian McMahon (ex-Ian Rain, Another World), Elizabeth Franz (ex-Alma Rudder, Another World), Wings Hauser (ex-Greg Foster, The Young and the Restless), Lar Park-Lincoln (ex-Linda Fairgate, Knots Landing), Gil Gerard (ex-Alan Stewart, The Doctors), Valerie Mahaffey (ex-Ashley Bennett, The Doctors), Sally Kirkland (ex-Tracey Simpson, Days of our Lives), Priscilla Pointer, (ex-Rebecca Barnes Wentworth, Dallas) and Michelle Trachtenburg (ex-Lily Montgomery, All My Children), Ruth Buzzi (ex-Leticia Bradford, Days of our Lives) and June Lockhart (ex-Maria Ramirez, General Hospital).

I wouldn’t use the word “happy.” Yet it is satisfying when soap stars, even posthumously, are acknowledged and respected. Fulton, Geary, and Rogers were indeed titans of this genre.

The Friday, June 12 episode of General Hospital marked the last for Daytime Emmy winner, Kate Mansi as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. As previously reported, the character was accepted to medical school at UCLA in California, making the end of the run for Mansi who played Kristina for three years.

The decision to depart GH was all Mansi’s decision and as also previously reported, GH executive producer Frank Valentini had left the door open for a return down the line and is currently not planning on recasting the part.

In story, in her final episode, having already said goodbye on Thursday’s show to her parents, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Kristina meets up with her siblings, Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Michael (Rory Gibson). The three have a chat at the Metro Court Gardens.

SIBLING ADVICE

Before she leaves Port Charles, Kristina tells her brother and sister, she wants them to be there for each other, while each is managing their personal relationships: Molly with Cody (Josh Kelly) and Michael with Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Kristina thanked them for taking her to the airport and urged them to lean on each other while she was gone.

In her last scene, Kristina tells Molly and Michael right before they head for her flight, “I want each of you to be the person the other can call. OK? To show up for each other, no questions asked. Because that’s what you’ve been for me.”

KATE’S NEXT MOVE

Speaking with TV Insider, Mansi shared what she is up to next which has included accompanying her husband, Matt McInnis to Europe. Kate explained she had made the decision a few months back to exit GH. “I knew my contract was up in April and I wanted to give them the proper notice so that they could plan their future storytelling.” Kate added, “Given that my husband is working in Europe predominantly and I’ll be traveling so much, that’s what this next chapter of my life will be.”

Kate expressed that the news of her exit was hard to share with people, because she would feel sad when talking about it. Ultimately, the first to know were Nancy Lee Grahn, Kristen Vaganos, and Rory Gibson. She chose not to tell Maurice Benard, because she was so close to him in real-life, until they filmed their last episode together which aired yesterday.

There’s more! Kate gave a final tease that she has project in the works sharing, “I’m excited to have booked a short-term project in the fall that works within my schedule.” As to a future return to GH, Mansi doesn’t rule it out, “It’s Port Charles. Anything is possible.”

So, what did you think of Kate’s final scenes as Kristina with Sonny, Alexis, Molly and Michael? Do you hope Kate come back in a few years time? Weigh-in via the comment section. In case you missed it, you can catch the scenes where Kristina tells her parents she is leaving Port Charles below.
