Sean Blakemore Done At General Hospital!

During Monday’s GH Live, fans of the ABC soap opera learned that not only was as expected this the final day of Jeffrey Vincent Parise’s character of Carlos Rivera, but they also learned that this was also the final episode of Sean Blakemore’s (Shawn Butler)!
It all came about during the GH Live behind-the-scenes Periscope app feed, which GH was using to bring fans up close and personal to the set of during the live shows and to get a glimpse of what was happening during commercial breaks and more! it was then that GH executive producer Frank Valentini revealed that this was to be Blakemore’s final day on the set. In fact, both the exiting Parise and Blakemore were presented with a cake and thanked for their talents and contributions to the soap opera.
Blakemore took to Twitter Monday night and expressed to his fans and followers: “Thank you all from my heart 4 all ur immeasurable spprt/luv during my time on GH! It was a great ride! Ur support is overwhelming. . such beautiful people u all are…much love 4 each and everyone of you.”
Sean’s on-screen love interest Vinessa Antoine (Jordan) tweeted her sentiments too! She related: “Full of sad emotions today. Saying goodbye to my tv boo, such a pleasure to work with. #Shordan #Forever #blackcouple #GH Everything came to a head. The lying. The love. @SBlakemoreActor last day and all live! It was a lot. I will miss u.”
While Monday was Blakemore’s final day on the set, since GH taped several episodes in advance of the live shows, viewers will see Shawn Butler on the canvas for a little while longer that will wrap up his story.

I kind of think his character has run its course. I liked his work best when he first came on and had the post war stress material. Once they made him into Sonny’s soldier, it seemed like his acting changed. I wish Tom Hardy & his biracial son would show up on canvas!
I agree with you that it’s time for Tommy Jr. to show up at GH. He has family in Liz and could possible be love interest for Jordan.

Su0000…Carlos/Jeffrey Vincent Parise was alive and well on Madman finale Sunday night. He obviously made a career change you wouldn’t like, at least for the time being. But you do what you gotta do, and we all know how GH can find a way to bring a character back.

Su0000, I think you’re clearly correct that no hiring/firing decision is made without ABC’s approval, but I also think you’re naive if you believe Ron, and especially Frank, don’t have a major say in those decisions.
Who to blame for this particular decision is hard to pin down, given how little information we have. Judging from the comments on here, many viewers seem to agree that the character never really worked; it’s tempting to blame Ron, but not all story ideas originate with Ron, and it’s hard to know who was really responsible for some of the bad decisions in regard to the Shawn character.
Su Frank does have a say in who is hired and fired, not complete authority but a seat at the table.

In my eyes, there is no absolution for any one of them…..makes no difference that he was the love of Anna’s life…it would be hypocritical of me to say otherwise. What exactly makes Duke different from the rest of these Godless snakes?

Patrick, your point about Carly is well taken. As a rule, I just don’t respond well to obnoxious characters who yell much of the time. And that can be said for both Sonny and Carly.

How true, Lil’ Angel. It just boggles the mind how these writers give such a weak representation of motherhood, as far as Carly is concerned. Sometimes I forget Carly has a daughter, until someone brings her up.
And, how hypocrytical of Sonny ‘blasting’ Jake’s character ….labeling him as a thug and ‘well-versed’ in a life of crime. Duh?! Whatever instinct Jake has was honed by his association with Sonny in another life. So, look who’s calling the kettle black!
Nothing surprises me about GH . Individuals win Emmys are let go,, great actors are let go and people who have no stories stay, why would we be surprised!!!!

What a loss for GH. Mr. Blackmore is a huge talent. The writers never really wrote to highlight is unique presence. None of his relationships were fully explored even his devotion to Sonny.
I felt like he was on the bench ready to play at a moments notice – it never came.

Three great actors in one week, Ian, Jeffrey and Sean. Pretty stupid. Yet they keep the actors that play the boring characters of Kiki, Valerie, Nathan and Tj. Bad moves. And where is Michael Easton, one of the best around and being so under used. The only good thing that may come of those great actors leaving is hopefully we see the end of all the mob/killing stories…enough of that already. If that doesn’t happen then its just a shameful waste of talent

I enjoy Sean being on the show; he’s a good actor. But the role as Sonny’s hitman doesn’t really lend itself to Sean getting much of a chance to express his acting talent. I know greater opportunities are out there for him.
Poor Shawn, he screwed up every assignment. His scenes with TJ were always good. Who will become Sonny’s enforcer?

@Patrick….Sounds yummy! (I LOVE avocados….even straight up!) As for your thoughts regarding the future management of Kelly’s? I agree all present tantalizing options—which means it’s likely none will ultimately happen…LOL! I have a strong hunch that the next diner operator will be “Val-Chops”…she has already stated on more than one occasion that she loves to cook, so that perhaps foreshadows her future. And being a Spencer, it will keep the business in the family. Maybe even Laura will be in the management mix upon her return to Port Charles? Shades of her past…..
Not terribly surprised, Shawn has always been kind of shoehorned into stories and forgotten from time to time. He had a random intro through The Balkan, he had a fizzled attempt with Carly, he ran Kelly’s, he replaced Jason for Sonny, he messed around with Alexis with little ramifications, the TJ stuff was his best anchor to the canvas, but they never could decide what to do with Shawn and they couldn’t ever really integrate him into the overall canvas.
GH continues to struggle with integrating African-American characters into the canvas, and I STILL BLAME GUZA because killing off Justus Ward in such a relatively permanent way was possibly his biggest blunder of a Quartermaine murder that he could have made.
Maybe they could retroactively reveal that TJ’s true father is Justus Ward, and that Justus/Jordan had a long-ago off-screen fling? Making TJ a Quartermaine and giving him and Jordan a new anchor to the canvas? That could repair some dwindling Q ranks, just by making TJ suddenly a Quartermaine heir apparent. Tracy would be furious about another Ward family interloper. Oh the dreams of a dreamer to right all of Guza’s wrongs…
I was also wondering if someone from the Ward clan might be Valerie’s father. They are going to have to find something for her to do, eventually, or not.

I originally thought TJ would be Tommy Hardy Jr., but that never panned out. But Justus spent a large amount of his life off-camera, before his debut and after, in between recasts, so a fling with Jordan is entirely possible, plus Jordan ending up in law enforcement and Justus a lawyer, I could have seen them in the same circles. And Jordan could try to redeem herself in TJ’s eyes by revealing all her secrets and staking a claim on the Quartermaine fortune for him! Tracy would finally have some family to battle again, and Molly reacting to TJ as a Quartermaine could be good also.
But I always want fun new characters added to the Quartermaine ranks. Once Howarth took over Franco, I was thrilled that Franco, Ava, and Kiki were a new branch of the Quartermaine family… which didn’t pan out. I also thought Lisa Niles would have made a great bride of Frankenstein for AJ had they ever overlapped on the canvas. Missed opportunities!
I fully agree with your post, GH has a very limited African-American set. But, it seems like Frank and Ron are trying to change that. They brought on Valerie, and African-American addition to a core GH family, which was a great idea. That also opens up the possibility of bringing her father on, adding to the set. And I’ve said for so long that GH would re-introduce the Ward family, there are many members (Faith, Keesha, Maya, etc.) and they could even resurrect Justus and I’d be fine with it because he shouldn’t have been killed.
As for your first paragraph, you are spot on. Shawn never really fit in to story, he had few connections to the canvas, and, truth be told, was never an interesting character. I liked him at first with the post-war stress story, and, ironically, I liked him with Jordan, and I enjoyed their backstory because it shed light on who he was before he came to Port Charles. But all the in-between time, being Sonny’s enforcer (and a terrible one at that), and being romantically paired with Carly and Alexis (which I never really bought) were failed attempts to integrate him. I will miss Sean Blakemore, though. He’s a very good actor.
Right on Jimmy!!! I’m with you on all points. Since you remember the Ward family you would probably enjoy listening to Mary Mae on youtube singing in that Paris nightclub where Edward first saw her during the war. What a lovely voice!

I am truly afraid for General Hospital. Management is making a lot of BAD decisions – in the humble opinion of a loyal 50-year fan. Not sure Sean was an issue, just the last straw. Long line (Wally, Anthony, Jeffrey, now Sean) of “not 20-something” actors gone. Three killed off by management. You can’t lose an entire generation and survive. Plus Quartermaines have been pivotal to GH for years and are now decimated.
Wally was put on contract by DAYS and Tony decided to call it quits, so that isn’t GH’s fault.
There wasn’t any issue with Sean, but the character Shawn never really fit in to the show. And when you look at the cast, and think about which characters could be written out to thin out the cast, Sean is near the top of the list because of his few connections to the canvas and little importance story-wise.
Same thing with Jeffrey, after he killed Duke, his fate was sealed. Carlos never really had a place on the show, just a hired mobster who was likely going to die soon. I thought it was going to happen when he and Johnny ambushed the prison crew, but they held out until now.
My hope is that now the Carlos is dead, Sabrina will leave town. She is another character who has no ties to the show and is unimportant to story.
The only real downside is losing Sean and Jeffrey who are both very good actors, but they will no doubt find work elsewhere soon.
The only person who didn’t need to go was Duke. I’m very disappointed that GH killed him off just as he and Anna were finally going to be happy. After months of stumbling around trying to decide where they were going with Anna and Duke, it was finally about to be right for them. They could have left town together, or Duke could have been put in Witness Protection, and return when the mob war ended. Ian Buchanan is a true gem and he should not have been killed off.

Characters without connections is a always a sign of their demise. The actor who played Carlos is very talented. He had no connections in PC and he was a cartoon-like character. I would bring him back as a twin, a good twin and make him a business tycoon trying to challenge Nick for ELQ. OR, clean him up and make him Lilly’s brother but still make a him half decent, not thug like!

Sigh…I think I’m sad when each character goes! Unless it’s someone I really detest…I like knowing that these people all live in this fictional world…The show is losing a lot of familiar faces, probably to cut budget…add new characters, take others away.
I liked Sean; I liked his relationship with TJ and I would have liked to have seen Sean, TJ and Jordan as a family. Since he’s still alive the door’s open; maybe he’ll walk through it again down the line.

My current GH biggest losses are Duke, AJ and Ned. The first two have already risen from the dead so unless the Caleb/vampire story returns…where we find out both AJ and Duke were “saved” by a few love bites…they’re lost to us. I’m hoping GH is still on the air when Wally Kurth’s contract on the other soap expires..and they have enough sense to sign him up!
I’m not as much sad to see him go as I am confused about who Jordan will be paired with now. I like Jordan and hope Vinessa will stay on. But she needs a potential love interests. Right? Maybe not. Maybe her and Anna can be Kick-Ass women who don’t need no man ( as I am not fond of Anna’s inevitable pairing with Sloane).
He’s a talented actor and will certainly find something more worthy of his talent than GH.
GH is cleaning out the house I’m sure more to be announced..
Well, ’tis the season for spring cleaning….I’m hoping this is only the start! Let’s keep this trend going with TJ, Jordan, Sappy, Nina, Ric, Hayden and Grossalie! Too, too many unimportant peeps are cluttering the canvas, and preventing our favorites from getting their deserved airtime. By the way, hello again, Epiphany! I was quite gratified to see this no-nonsense nurse—and her inimitable take-no-prisoners attitude—back on the GH floor where they belongs!!!!
Shay, Hayden is leaving but I was kind of enjoying her going toe to toe with Miss Lizzy.
Well, I really cannot say that I shall miss Hayden, Harry, but I have just read an alarming report that none other than our lovely Liz is headed out the GH door later this summer. I certainly hope it is not true….I love RH and her departure would be unforgiveable!

@Dan…..No, I don’t mind at all! When Val first came on the GH scene, a few people commented about her big, blindingly white smile. One poster—-it was Harry, actually—made a remark about her “choppers.” Hence, I began calling Ms. Spencer, “Val-Chops,” and now it has become habit. Therefore, I can take neither credit nor blame for the notion that inspired this nickname….it belongs to Harry!!!!!
Val Chops is hilarious and I had nothing to do with that nick name anymore than I had anything to do with “Sappy” or “Sparkle Pony.”

Not surprising at all. General Hospital has never kept any black actors on their show for very long. This lousy pattern goes way back to the Brian and Claudia days in the 70s. Very annoying and typical. Sean Blakemore is awesome and a big loss to GH. I wish him luck in his acting career.

I was really shocked to read this. Sean is in the opening credits. Why can’t “Diane” get “Shawn” off with a slap on the wrist like she does everyone else?
Now with “Duke” and “Carlos” dead, “Milo” and “Max” nowhere to be found and “Shawn” headed for prison (if that’s what happens), it looks like “Sonny” and “Julian” will have no one left to do their dirty work. Maybe it’s the end of all the mob stuff! Ha! Ha! Right. One can wish.

This isn’t too much of a shock, nor am I disappointed. Sean is a good actor and I’m sad we’re losing him, but the character of Shawn never really worked with the show. He never really had a place, and it felt like the show was trying too hard to integrate him into story. The only real time he had a purpose was when T.J. and Jordan came to town, and we got some insight on Shawn’s backstory. Other than that, he wasn’t an important character, nor did he have ties to the canvas, so losing him isn’t a big loss for the show. Same with Carlos, he’s not an important character. Only the actors will be missed.

I like the actor sad to see him go but I did think his charater compromise Jordan and her being a cop, guess we now know he’s going away, also I hope they don’t kill off Haden I like her. Although I’m troubled that it was nikolas that really send out the hit.
i love shawn, but i prefer jordan over shawn and felt unless shawn quite working for sonny theres no way they could be a couple, it would of made it impossible for jordan to be a cop. at least he wasn’t killed, this show really loves killing people.

Ned, the show dropped the ball here, Wally proved how vital ned was, so to not be offered a contract was insulting, you would think the show would of counter offered, but now we are loosing Ned, who won’t be around when Jason is revealed to be alive, this is going to suck…
I hope Hayden isn’t going anywhere, she really has turned out to be fun to watch, mind you i love Elisabeth so i hate hayden picking on her, but liz can handle her, plus anyone who irritates Carly got me at hello..

HIP HIP HOORAY!!!! YAY!!! So, so, soooooooo glad that the character of Shawn is leaving! The character was best when he was Molly’s new, mysterious friend in town. After that, he was a total wash. Absolutely pointless on GH!
I LOVE the character of Jordan, and now that Shawn is out of her orbit, maybe she can get a decent storyline! Shawn was doing NOTHING but holding her back.
I’m thinking a romance with Agent Sloane?!! Those two look great together! They could work and play together all day long!
Maybe finally a romance with Silas if he ever comes back?! I think they’d look good together, too! Plus, Silas needs someone with decent morals.
There are so many romantic options available to Jordan! I just hope they pair her with one of the guys already on the show — not bring in someone new.

Sadly, SB was a prime example of a good actor cast in an increasingly thankless role…it started out promising enough, but became just plain silly when he was reduced to slinging hash and servicing Alexis and her insatiable appetites for both his meatloaf sandwiches and physical prowess. Never liked him with Jordan, either. Hope this latest development portends her exit with TJ, as well. I would love to see the diner in new hands….perhaps Delia’s? She would be a great proprietress of Kelley’s…and maybe she could even bring Roger along with her!
Do like the idea of Delia at Kelly’s. That way she could at least be closer to AJ/Avery. Would want her to keep her NYC bar…she could hire someone to run it when she wasn’t there.

This is true, Rose. Quite frankly, I thought that Delia was the obvious one to have received custody of Avery, given they are blood relatives. With her based in Port Charles, it would be a perfect situation to get that precious little angel back with her real family! Plus, nuKiki could certainly use some supervision….obviously, Silas isn’t enough to keep her in line.

Jeremy, that is exactly what happened to me when AMC’s Stuart Chandler (the sweetest soap character of all time and someone I still miss–yes, he became real to me) spoke to Nurse Gloria about the heavenly delights of a fried egg sandwich. I thought it sounded rather disgusting, but you know what? I tried one and it was delicious.

I am sorry he lost his gig– good steady paycheck as actor is not easy to come by, and in daytime there are very limited opportunities, so I hope he finds work soon. I suppose losing the character might be paving the way for Jake/Jason to resume his spot as Sonny’s enforcer. I hope not– I was really looking forward to them taking Jason into a different direction.
Shawn had run his course, but what of Jordan and TJ? I kinda like TJ, but he’s way under-utilized.
I have to agree with countless posts above: The actor showed great promise (his initial appearances in the Balkan storyline revealed both presence and talent, and I was glad they kept him around) but the character became increasingly pointless, and it’s not a big surprise that they’ve chosen to write him out. I think TPTB are subject to valid criticism for not doing a better job of making the character work, given the actor’s obvious charisma and the show’s very mixed history with African American characters.
I think that in the end Shawn didnt have enough of a story to tell and enough PC connections. Plus, Jakeson will be Sonny’s Lieutenant once he knows who he is. Shawn could have jumped ship and worked for Julian?

does anyone watch GMA? the show promotes the hell out of their primetime schedule and movies, so its really sad and disappointing that GMA or even the View didn’t bother to give a shout out to GH going live for two days, its really sad especially when you do see the crap that they do promote. GH is the networks longest running show, show them some respect and give them a little love. if they can show love to the bachelor and promote movies from other studios then a sign of respect would go a long way… just my opinion..

Jordan and Juluan may have chemistry…but it would make zero sense for Jordan to have sacrificed all she did, disappoint and lie to her son, betray Shawn whom she truly loves…to go out with a criminal. If she was going to allow herself to go that route, she would have stayed with Shawn.

I like Olivia and Julian, but cannot abide him with Alexis! They just seem so forced and mismatched….had they not had Sam in common, there would have been nothing to bind these two characters, particularly since the extremely youthful Julian looks more akin to a not-long ago high-school jock walking down the hall than some dangerous middle-aged mafia kingpin fighting for Sonny’s territory. Despite the actor’s actual years, he plays so much more junior, which makes his pairing with the looking-frumpier-by-the-moment-yet-still-trying-(too-hard)-to-be-sexy Alexis just patently absurd. I really hope that there is soon a new woman for Julian….and Olivia is exactly the luscious lady for him, especially when he discovers their son is still alive.

If Julian is indeed serious about getting out of a life of crime, bklyngirl, then okay; perhaps he and Jordan could be a couple….I always sensed an attraction….since her days at the Art Gallery. But, I do not believe Julian ever extricating himself from that dark life….so, It would not even be a consideration for Jordan. I do agree that the would be great together. I find him very sexy.
Then again, I agree with Shay …..Julian and Olivia showed how hot they were together…they sizzled.
Both women are beautiful, and do not look like Julian’s much older siblings.
I will never understand why the bosses of GH did not ‘hire’ a younger actress for this character, if their intention was to box her into this role. While she may be the right age to be Sam’s mother, having given birth to her as a teen, Julian certainly isn’t old enough to be Sam’s father. Kelly Monaco looks her age and not a day younger.
So, when Alexis decided to sneak out of boarding school ( hard to do, actually), she was about 16? So, that would have made Julian 6? And, at a bar. …I know, I know, it’s a soap. LOL.

I was thinking how this case could be so cut and dry. If Shawn’s bullet did not hit Hayden, won’t forensics know that? Will there not be an investigation? Will they realize that there were two guns fired? And, where is the other bullet, if Shawn actually took a shot?
Also, won’t ballistics come into play? I hope CSI does its job….but, it’s PCPD……can’t expect much.
If it had been real life, Shawn would be out of jail, by now…or at least, charged with a lesser crime…possession of an illegal weapon, or something…
Shay, I have entertained…uhmm, romanced, actually; the idea of a Julian-Olivia ‘mobrance’. But, it would be defeating Olivia’s purpose. I think she is done with that life, after enduring Sonny. From what I understand she’s always been a reluctant participant…ergo, not telling either Sonny or Julian about her babies. I believe in her adult years she has learned her lesson.
Not so Alexis. Acting the schoolgirl. The itch is mightier than any wisdom God may have given her. (I wonder if women like this character truly exist). Here she goes again, believing him….what an excuse. She is too old and experienced to fall into the same hole over and over again.

Well, it seems that Julian is on the road to redemption. This is where the writers are headed. Why else would his so-called-family hover over him with such fervor? Gosh, these people barely know each other….not too long ago, none of them was aware of each other’s existence. It takes years to form such a bond. And, of course, lusty-granny Alexis is, as always, front and center. Ha!
Julian’s blood and reputation will forever be tainted, no matter how high the makeshift pedestal is raised. It is a joke, really.
Redemption? For about a week, maybe, CeeCee! How many times have we heard this same old, same old story from Julian? He always goes back on his word….and of course, as long as he keeps Alexis fat and happy in the sack, she puts up with it!!!! (Despite her superficial protestations that last only until her over-sized libido kicks in…..) By the way, I just have to ask, if Mr. Jerome so spins Ms. Davis’ wheels, why does she constantly appear in the form of a blowsy, disheveled wreck who appears to get dressed in a wind tunnel? She was an absolute mess the other day in that peach-colored tunic blouse….just so slovenly! Hardly the look of blissful, together professional woman! It makes no sense, especially when you consider that Anna is supposedly at the end of her rope with grief over the loss of her love Duke, and nearly losing her mind with the Carrrr-LOS! killing cover-up, and yet, still she’s immaculately-attired and groomed. Hmmmm…..

Very sad to see Sean Blackmore go.Sick of lack of strong African American character development on General Hospital. The characters of Jordan and Shawn have great chemistry but the writers would rather focus on clingy must have a man any man at all times Elizabeth, a terribly casted Valerie, wimpy , whiny, Michael , and Sabrina, too fast a couple Brad and Lucas, and Julian who is really a major criminal. I have been watching the show since I was a little girl and have followed the show for over 50 years. I loved Jessie, Steve, and Audrey followed Monica And Allen, watch Luke and Laura and obsessed over Sonny and Brenda. Sam and Jason are the best couple for this period of the show. No other couples have had the level of chemistry that the couples I mentioned. Certainly no African American couples have been given the commitment to their story line by the writers to develop that chemistry until Shawn and Jordan. Instead, we are supposed to believe in silly pairings such as Epiphany and Milo, If the writers think appealing to a younger audience is what matters, I watch with my 20 year daughter just like I watched with my mom. The African American audience matters just as much! Legacy characters matter just as much! young viewers turn into old viewers as long as we are not driven away. I also think that if they can get Rebecca Budig back and get her to stay,Hayden and Nikolas are a breath of fresh air. Lastly the writers should take time since they have it, wasted opportunities that come to mind are Bobbie involved in the Jake, Jocelyn transplant story and a funeral when Jason “died”.

Yes, PK Mez! I have also called for a return of a recast Jeff Webber! ‘Twould be a kick to see him dealing with his two ex-wives—Monica and that loose cannon also known as “Heather!”—not to mention providing a much-needed shoulder to lean on for his daughter, the practically family-less Liz.
Well, this breaks my heart hearing about Sean Blakemore leaving. I love the character of Shawn Butler. He was the only reason I was still watching the show. Sean Blakemore is a very talented actor and he had a great prescence. There was a regalness and quiet dignity about him. I loved his relationship with TJ and his brief romance with Jordan. It’s very disheartening how black characters never get to stick around longterm like nonblacks. I notice that there are no black leads on GH, no black couples, no black families and no black children. If a black chararacter does stick around, they are rarely shown (ex: Epiphany). But there has never been a black character as a lead who stuck around for at least 7 years or more. There are no black vet characters. And that is very sad. With that said, I will no longer watch GH or any other soap since they are all still very anti-black. I think black viewers should stop watching GH and other soaps as well, since they are severely ignored and treated as invisible. Half the cast of today’s soap should be black. This is almost 2016, not 1976.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Carly and Lulu Make Plans to Rescue Their Children; Anna Looks Determined to Secure Her Freedom
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, the race is on! Can Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) get to Rocco (Finn Carr) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) in time to ensure their safety from Cullum (Andrew Hawkes)? Can Carly (Laura Wright) with the help of her brother, Lucas (Van Hansis) rescue Josslyn (Eden McCoy) from captivity at Wyndemere? These questions may be answered, plus the return of the one and only Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) are on tap!
In the just released General Hospital spoilers video for the week of June 22-26, Lulu tells her mother, Laura (Genie Francis), “Dante and I have to get to Rocco before Cullum!” Meanwhile, Rocco (Finn Carr) looks angered and emotional as Britt walks through their cabin hideout. Does Rocco know his parents are on the way to find them, or has Cullum already tracked them down to the British Virgin Islands?
Back in Port Charles, Carly is informing Lucas that his niece, “is a WSB agent.” She knows Josslyn (Eden McCoy) is being held against her will at Wyndemere, and she has to find a way to get her out. Lucas agrees with Carly’s plan of, “We go in and we don’t leave without Josslyn!” Elsewhere, Josslyn is looking worried for her future as she is stuck in captivity thanks to Cassius, Cullum and Sidwell!

The final moments of the teaser promo reveal Anna in a psychiatric clinic in France. We have not seen her for months after Cullum, Sidwell and Pascal fed her hallucinogenics to make her believe her arch nemesis, Cesar Faison was alive!
Now, the doctors walk towards her hospital bed, where we see the super spy calmly knitting. Is Anna back to normal and playing everyone to get out of her predicament, or does she still remain deeply traumatized … or both?

Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric
With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..
In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”

So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!
FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD
As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”
Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Announces Upcoming Release of His First Single, ‘If You Need Me’
In a surprise move, Daytime Emmy winner, Chad Duell (ex-Michael Corinthos, GH) is getting ready to unveil a new chapter of his career in music.
The former GH star, where he played the son of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) for 15 years, has announced his new single, “If You Need Me” will drop on Friday, June 26. The single is now available for pre-order on Spotify and major music streaming platforms and is distributed by DistroKid.
Taking to his Instagram story over the weekend, to announce the pre-save of his new single, Chad expressed, “I’ll make a full post about what I’ve been up to and my music once it goes live next week, but you can pre-save my first single so it goes straight to your Spotify once it drops next week.”

SINCE LEAVING GENERAL HOSPITAL
Previously, since his departure from the ABC soap opera. Chad starred alongside Zach Mendez in the world premiere of of Yum Yum at Annapolis, a new play written by Bruce Reisman. Duell last appeared on General Hospital on the January 21, 2025 episode.
The part was recast with Rory Gibson who debuted as the new Michael in May of 2025 during the Nurses’ Ball episodes and who has remained in the role since that time.
In an interview earlier this year on The Able Show, Duell said on his decision to exit the soap opera, “I was blessed to be part of that (show) for as long as I have, but what happens sometimes is if you’re doing the same thing, especially in a creative field for such a long time, you can get a little burnt out in a way. It can make you a little depressed, so that’s kind of what happened. On top of that, I had other things going on in my life at the time. My father passed away recently and I just needed a reset. So, I stepped away. A lot of times you have to go through some stuff to really step into that next level. I needed to kind of feel uncomfortable.”
