Sexy Exes & Phyllis Waking Up Are Just Some Of The Highlights This Fall On The Young and the Restless!

Courtesy/CBS
A screaming Phyllis as played by Gina Tognoni as the character finally awakens from her coma, and the arrival of Scott Elrod as Avery’s (Jessica Collins) ex Joe are just some of the highlights that are being touted by CBS Daytime in their latest fall promo for the number one soap, The Young and the Restless!
And there’s Ashley (Eileen Davidson) seemingly making her presence and intention known of taking over at Jabot, and the proposal by Nick (Joshua Morrow) to Sharon (Sharon Case), and then there is that little, err big secret about Summer’s (Hunter King) paternity that could blow the roof of Shick’s relationship and more!
In the promo the voice-over and title cards say: “If You Miss The Young and the Restless This Fall, You’ll Miss Everything: Sweet Proposals … Hidden Desires … Shocking Secrets … Unexpected Surprises and Sexy Exes … Don’t Miss Out!”
Watch the promo after the jump, and then let us know what story and arrival you are looking forward to most!
Ashley being back is probably what I’m most looking forward to…. assuming she gets a real story. Lots to look forward to with Phyllis being on canvas. I’m probably in the minority here, but I don’t see a point of breaking Dylan & Avery up right now. Adding Avery’s ex in to the mix doesn’t excite me. I’m not familiar w/ the actor, who might turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread… but if we are going to introduce new actors I wish the actors playing them were familiar soap faces. Can think of so many AMC, OLTL, GL, ATWT, & even off canvas GH & Days actors I would rather see coming on board.
I agree, Reagan. I personally want Dylan and Avery to stay together because their personalities match…snore. Seeing these two paired with others will be disastrous…BORING !!!
Ship Dylan to the Netherlands…
Noooooo…..!!!! LOL…I have family in Holland . You can’t sic Dylan on my people !…LOL.
CeeCee…or my people in Louisiana…LOL!!!!!
very good promo. maybe the action on Y&R is finally starting to heat up. Y&R needs to move stories along.
Yes, Robert. It certainly looks that way. What are the chances Joe will be paired with Phyllis?
I am starting to get excited about Y&R again…haven’t been in months…so, this is awesome.
I agree with that! These storylines go on and on forever! it’s just too long! I find that I lose interest and it feels like the writers “forget” a storyline for a while…. then one day break it out again.
Just use the orignal background music and I’ll be happy!:)))
I must say…one screaming promo and all I could think was UHOH..Phyllis is awake
Scott shouldv’e been Adam…Justin Hartley as Billy…Burgess as Joe…jmo!!!
I like it!
Joe looks like somebody that stepped right out of the 50’s.
Ahh, Scott/Joe…So absolutely beautiful, is he….I only wish I was born in that era if all the men looked like that, Lawrence.
Yeah, Y&R just might be back. I’m not ready to proclaim the current show runners as saviors just yet. JFP’s history is too sketchy for me to ever fully accept her as EP of this show. I’m still steamed about David Tom’s ouster. That was wrong. Abby also irritates me. The Winters clan have the collective personality of a dial tone. Other than those obvious problems, the show is on fire right now. The look and feel of the show is very similar to the days of Bill Bell and Kay Alden.
Hopefully this is a sign that Y&R is getting back on track. It was a very good promo and hopefully what comes next is equally as good. I’m really looking forward to Phyllis waking up, as well as Ashley’s return, and Kelly Sullivan coming to Y&R! I agree with Reagan above, I don’t see the point of breaking up Dylan and Avery now, but I guess it will add a bit of interest to the pairing, which is in desperate need right now.
But what I’m most looking forward too is Adam’s return! So much time has passed and the character is really needed right now. Plus, Justin Hartley is a very good actor, no he’s not Michael Muhney and no one else is except MM, but I’m really hopeful that his portrayal of Adam will be good.
Yawn, another lame attempt to attract viewers.
A good marketing team can make paint drying sound exciting—it is one thing to attract viewers it is whole different ballgame keeping them.
Oh, I don’t know about that. Phyllis waking up could be a very good thing.
It is so uncanny how Scott Elrod looks so much like my gorgeous and sexy Italian husband. I can’t wait…yeeees! Y&R, hurry and get back to that pinnacle of holding the #1 spot in the ratings….
Scott should have been a recast of Sonny’s son on GH.
Sadly this promo is just a retread of the same ol’ stories the show has been forcing on us for months — Devon and Hillary’s “forbidden” desire; Nick looking like a fool giving his heart to Sharon (after she married his half-brother and father); Nu-Billy and Chelsea making chemistry free eyes at one another while Victoria stands around unable to believe that the man she continues to reject isn’t curled up in the fetal position and giving up on life as a result of said rejection; Victor’s fruitless search for that damn secret of Sharon’s — mixed with the arrival of Avery’s ex (anything that gives her and Dylan more screen time can’t be good) and the impending return of Faux-lis (ain’t nobody ever gonna replace Michelle Stafford as proven by that flashback Jack had last week).
The only arrival I’m looking forward to is some new writers.
Well said Alan….The part about new writes is spot on! Fire all of them!!
Alan…y-e-s!!!!! Y&R needs BRAND N-E-W writers ASAP!!!!! As far as I’m concerned, the current so-called writers just ain’t cutting it. No. And, most of all, I think that Y&R needs a BRAND N-E-W Executive Producer ASAP!!!!! That A-W-F-U-L Jill Farren Phelps has N-O CLUE at all about Y&R’s history or N-O CLUE at all about running a soap. Bottom Line Here: Jill Farren Phelps needs to BOUNCE…..
Alan, Sue, & Jay: Zing, zing, zing! I am totally with you!
A new executive producer, new writers, and new storylines are needed, as the viewers are the ones getting restless!
James…not only am I getting RESTLESS, but, I am also getting EMOTIONALLY BORED out of my s-k-u-l-l!!!!! Total D-R-E-C-K!!!!! And…I think that some of the current Y&R cast/characters need SERIOUS TRIMMING…ASAP!!!!!! Yep.
I, for one, am really ready for the “secret” of Summer’s paternity to be resolved. Who’s her real daddy? Nick or Jack? Let’s wrap it up, writers.
I hope it is Nick 🙂
It’s already been revealed that NICK is the real baby daddy; Sharon switched the results in order to get back together with Nick.
It IS Nick. That has already been revealed before Phyllis went into a coma, mollie.
On soaps that doesn’t mean anything LOL. They could easily write Sharon’s secret comes out and her life is blown to bits by it. Then Jack finally has enough sense to order his own DNA test, which confirms him as the father and we find out Sharon while off her meds only imagined she changed the results. It depends on the mood of the writers, what story can milk the most drama from– when it comes paternity tests in soaps nothing is written in stone.
Yeah for Nick! I thought that Sharon, herself, wasn’t sure if her flashbacks of switching the DNA test results were real or a product of her Bi-polar imaginations…so, that left us, the audience, unsure also if a switch *really* happened.
I hope Nick finds out SOON! 🙂
Sharon has remarked a few times that she didn’t know If her flashes of memory were real memories or memories of a hallucination.
IMO, Summer will stay Jack’s whiny lil sweet pea.
I liked the promo. Hope CBS runs it during primetime too.
@CeeCee I disagree I think that they are comfortable with each other and that could be interpreted as boring.
Mix them up and it could be a lot of fun. I am interested vin seeing Avery with Joe and lets see Dylan move around the canvas a bit, try him with Phyllis, Ashley etc and see how it goes.
But I agree with other posters i am totally looking forward to fall.
The promo looks interesting, but it’s lipstick on a pig.
Here is a promo I want to see: “New and improved: The Young and the Restless has a new producer! No longer will boring characters (Dylan) be shoved down the viewers’ throats, no longer will history be rewritten, no longer will veteran actors be disrespected and discarded! Also, Michael Muhney returns as Adam Newman!”
Then, you’d have my attention, enthusiasm, and admiration!
James…R-I-G-H-T O-N!!!!! I mean…Y-O-U-R promo is something that I can get behind!!!!! Thank You.
Now…here is a promo that would, IMO, TRULY ROCK: “Soap Extra Soap Extra…read all about it!!!!! THE FABULOUS Kay Alden and John F. Smith are officially re-named as Y&R’s Head Writers. Also, THE WONDERFUL Tricia Cast (aka Nina) permanently comes home to Y&R. Most of all, the SUPER-AWESOME Jamesj75 is officially hired as Y&R’s BRAND NEW Executive Producer. There will be more wonderful details as they develop. Stay tuned…
Y-E-S!!!!!
Jaybird369, you’re too kind! But I know that already, Friend!
I love your promo idea, too!
James…you’re too kind, also!!!!! But, of course, you already know that!!!!!
I’ll talk to ya’ soon…flip side and all.
A-C-E-S!!!!!!
I liked the promo, it has some promise & some hope. The only two stories that worked this summer was ShickWinters the rest was trash. I don’t want Mariah to be vile towards Sharon maybe very pissed and go after her in another way but not this, can’t any of today’s writers write anything but hateful stories?
Yes… I am excited to see Phyllis back with Jack ( where he belongs) and hopefully Kelly can find someone else…. I liked the character better with Cynthia W but I feel Cady is annoying to me. The weird part is that Meredith Baxter is playing her mom, and she looks closer to Jacks age, I was just wondering how nuPhyllis will look paired with Jack.
I look forward to some new characters as I think the show as it stands is a bit stale. Avery and Dylan are so boring…. I don’t dislike them, just not at all interesting on screen.
I LOVE that Ashley is back, as Eileen is just amazing anyway. So hopefully they will write a real story for her instead of background ….
Not loving this Neil story.. Hilary in love with his son? Talk about watching paint dry!
Bring Chloe back, she was fun to watch….recast her. Looking forward to nuAdam and Chelsea…. should be fun, and lets find a real Billy. This one doesn’t do it for me.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
