Shemar Moore On His Return To Y&R: "A lot Of People Get Successful And It’s Like Their Soap Days Never Happened. I’ll Never Be That Guy!"

For many years fans of the number one daytime drama The Young and the Restless have been hoping Shemar Moore would make a return to the role he made soap-famous … that of Malcolm Winters!  The Daytime Emmy winner last appeared on the soap back in 2005!

Fast-forward to last week, where viewers learned the news that the Criminal Minds star is on his way back to Genoa City for a two episode appearance on the upcoming September 10th and 11th episodes.

Shemar spoke to the New York Post about Malcolm’s comeback, and what it means personally for Moore stating: “The fans haven’t forgotten about me and it’s nice to see the excitement is still there.  And I hope it’s not the only time I can do this.  I hope they write (the episodes) in a way that maybe this is something I can do from time to time.  A lot of people get successful and it’s like their soap days never happened.  I’ll never be that guy.  I’ve always said I wouldn’t be where I am today without Y&R and Malcolm Winters, and without (late show creator) Bill Bell taking a chance on me.”

So, do you hope this marks the beginning of more Moore on Y&R?  What do you think about Shemar’s statement about how he will never look down on his time on the soaps, when some actors who have gone on to fame wanted it taken off their resume?

The mark of a good & great actor is to realize all their acting experiences add to the resume which enables them to move to other roles, as Shemar has done. It was obvious he ‘had something’ special on Y&R and his switch to prime time seemed a natural transition for him.
It will probably be a joy to return to the old cast (and meet the newer cast too) and have a lighter storyline than on CM.
He doesn’t need any ‘Good Luck’ returning, as he’ll ‘ace’ it for sure.

Its very honest and gracious and nice to hear. Its like Carrie Underwood. She always acknowledged American Idol when she won at awards for several years. She thanked the show and the fans for getting her where she was. Now after umpteen zillion awards it might sound like she is beating a dead horse to thank American Idol, so she doesnt usually, but always the fans. Shemar and Carrie are classy.

Welcome back Shemar! Here’s to hoping you can stick around for more than a couple of shows next time.

Now now Su…you were over the moon excited about Donna Mills’ 37 second appearance on GH!! At least this is someone who has 20 years of history on the show and who honours his soap roots. Its not a stunt.

So much class wrapped up in one beautiful body! And such humility! Can’t wait to see you back on #YR Shemar. Lily can use a little help fro her bio Dad and I hope you turn Hillary’s head so both Neil and Devon dump her!

I fret any air time the Winters family gets because the stories written for them are terrible BUT I commend this actor for giving props to the soap genre and not forgetting where he got his big break.

In your opinion. Cause right now The Winters are about the ONLY thing keeping me watching. Maybe in the past the Winters were overlooked, but this year, they have been incredible In my humble opinion. I mean to be honest I could say that about EVERY family on this show. The writing for every family has been awful. So to just single out The Winters is a little unfair. Except 4 Lily #1. I ALWAYS despise Lily #1.

Timmm
Timmm

Your right, the WHOLE show has been written poorly but I singled out the Winters’ because of Shemar’s return.

harry

Travis, I agree. The Winters’ family is stepping it up a bit. The triangle is vaguely interesting.
Lily of the Valley represents everything I detest–she utilizes Valley Girl Speech, engages in vocal growling, uses a flirtatious tone of voice whether she is speaking to Kane or Abby, and while trying to play a scene replete this tragic undertones, she seems to be thinking about her next manicure or that Fendi bag she saw in the window of Fenmore’s. De Yawn is as boring watching a bally bug trying to right itself up and Neal makes Mr. Brady look like a wild bad ass by comparison.
So yes, right now the Winters’ family is the best thing going on Y&R which speaks volumes about the current state of the writing. Having Shemar return for a couple of days will be exciting but will leave the viewers feeling some what sad because his appearance will remind them of what once was.

It’s great that he’s willing and able to return and hasn’t forgotten his soap roots. They’re nothing to be ashamed of. Looking forward to seeing him as Malcolm!

People (actors) will always have fans because he is not full of himself. I like Criminal Minds. He and the rest of the actors are great. Julianne Moore also returned to As the World Turns unlike others who wouldn’t. The fans appreciate this and wil lof course support and watch the other things they do.Good Luck and even tho I don’t like Y&R, I will watch those two days.

“I’ll never be that guy” – you mean successful? Cuz a Criminal Minds reject isn’t exactly Johnny Depp-level of success.

Very classy. Look forward to his return even if it brief.

The Winters’ storyline needs a boost. Can’t stand the current state of the Winters family. Neal seems a pathetic fool and I can’t stand Devon or Lilly. Cane is just a non-entity and Hillary can do so much better than Neal or Devon. This family was once one of my faves, now I FF through all their scenes. Hope Malcolm can do something to provide some interest. I WANT to care, I just find ALL of them awful right now. It’s sad.

I’ll gladly watch Shemar for one, two, or any number of episodes on Y&R. Not only is he humble, but he is great on the eyes! I’ll watch him on any show! Shemar was on Arsenio recently and talked for about 1/2 hour? Plus Criminal Minds is always on many TV channels.

Good for him for not forgetting his roots in acting. Two days or not it is more than some will do…IF they even acknowledge ever being on a soap.

It is my belief that Shemar Moore is a very gracious man.
He is full of gratitude and doesn’t think he is to important
to go back to day time.
Truly an amazing man
Not to mention, he looks amazing with a full head of hair
or a shaved head!
He is a beautiful person inside and out from what I’ve
Seen!
Bless you sir!
The world needs more people like you !

‘Beacon Hill’ Prepping Its Long-Awaited Season Two Featuring Soap Notables

A few years back, Beacon Hill was one of the most talked about web series for its soapy cast and bringing same-sex romance, political scandal and familial drama to the table.  And now, it appears after a four year wait\ the creators and the cast are ready to go back into production for its second season.

In order to do that, the producers are driving a crowdfunding campaign via IndieGoGo to raise funds to make their planned production a reality.

Guiding Light and Venice favorite, Crystal Chappell is once again returning in role of “Claire”, along with these daytime fan favorites: Alicia Minshew, Ron Raines, John-Paul Lavoisier, Ricky Paull Goldin, Scott Bryce, Tina Sloan, Louise Sorel and the new additions to the cast: Nadia Bjorlin, Jacob Young, Hillary B. Smith, and Marem Hassler who takes over the key role of “Katherine” from Sarah Brown.

The series promises longer episodes than season one, and it will finally deliver to fans the reveal of that cliffhanger: “Who is at the damn door?”

As of Sunday night, there are 43 days left to donate to the fund to help make Beacon Hill second two come to life so they can shoot the series in New England.

Check out this video below from Chappell and company that was released over the weekend.

Shannen Doherty To Appear On ‘Riverdale’ For Season Four Tribute Episode To Luke Perry

More big news on the TV from San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday.  CW’s Riverdale is planning on tribute episode to Luke Perry who passed away earlier this year in March following a massive stroke at the age of 52.  Perry played Archie’s father, Fred Andrews.

Now the series will kick-off its upcoming fourth season with a tribute episode to Perry, which will feature none other than Perry’s dear friend and BH90210 star Shannen Doherty in what will be an ’emotional role’.  The announcement came at SDCC from Riverdale executive producer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The tribute episode is said to reflect Perry’s enduring legacy and the indelible imprint his character Fred Andrews had on the series. No details were revealed as to just what part Doherty is playing.

Aguirre-Sacasa said on the relationship between Doherty and Perry: “They were such good friends, and when we were putting together this tribute episode, we wanted to make it as special as possible, and so we asked Shannen to do a pivotal, super-emotional role. She read the script and immediately said ‘yes.’”

Doherty took to social media following the announcement and made this statement:  “I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale. The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.”

As previously announced, Doherty will also star in the reboot of BH90210 along with original stars: Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling, which will air on Fox.  That series also has plans to honor Perry.

So, what do you think of Shannen coming to Riverdale for the emotional season premiere? Comment below.

OLTL Alum Brandon Routh Revisits Playing Superman This Time On TV

Big news out of San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend involving former One Life to Live star and the former motion picture Superman, Brandon Routh (Ex-Seth Anderson, One Life). The actor will be making a comeback in the superhero role, but this time on television.  Brandon played the man of steel in the motion picture Superman Returns over 13 years ago.

Routh who presently stars on Legends of Tomorrow as Ray Palmer AKA The Atom will be donning the Superman cape along with Tyler Hoechlin in an Arroverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths. Both Routh and Hoechlin will appear as Superman but in “different time frames.  Crisis on Infinite Earths will take place over five episodes, three in December 2019 and two in January 2020.

Photo: Warner Bros

During Arrow’s San Diego Comic-Con 2019 panel, Brandon Routh revealed that he was wearing a shirt with the Kingdom Come Superman emblem, which means he will be playing the Superman from another universe.   As to what the story will be, it is reportedly based on Kingdom Come, a story that landed on the pages of the Justice Society of America, set far in the  future, when Superman has a bit long in the tooth, and is facing competition from a younger, more violent generation of superheroes.

Routh told EW: “It’s an opportunity for me to kind of say hello and goodbye to the character in a way I didn’t get to the first time.  Being a young individual of 24, 25, I thought, ‘Oh, I’m going to do this for years and make multiple movies.’ And that, of course, didn’t happen. I’m just very honored to be able to do this one last time.”

As for Routh’s time on One Life playing opposite Melissa Archer’s Natalie, from 2001-2002, his time in Llanview was cut short via a reported firing and was then replaced.  Guess Brandon has had the last laugh with this one going on to motion picture and primetime TV superhero roles.

Watch below when Routh revealed his upcoming man of steel turn at the Arrow panel at SDCC below.

Then, let us know, will you be checking out Brandon as Superman once again? Do you recall his time on One Life to Live when Seth was scheming with Natalie? Comment below.
