Soap Stars Take To Social Media Proud Of U.S. Olympic Medalists: Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Michael Phelps & Simone Manuel!

If you caught NBC’s primetime coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games from Rio on Thursday night, viewers from the United States could not have been more proud of several athletes represeting the country, and being in awe of their athleticism, their emotion, and their gold and silver medal victories!
Some of your favorite past and present soap stars took to social media inspired and proud of these athletes throughout the night for the following achievements: As predicted, Simon Biles woved the judges and the crowd and became the Olympic gold medalist in the women’s all-around gymnastic competition following her floor exercise routine. Biles, who is a big fans of Pretty Little Liars actually received a message from the show after her victory that they would like to have her make a guest-star appearance on the Freeform series.

While Biles took the gold, it was teammate Aly Raisman, who also nailed her floor exercise routine in the all-around competition that won her the silver medal – packing a one-two punch for the U.S.
That victory represented a personal redemption for Raisman. Four years ago during the London Games, she went home without a medal in the all-around competition despite being tied for third. A complicated tie-breaking procedure instead gave the award to Russia’s Aliya Mustafina.
America also watched history in the making with Simone Manuel becoming the first African-American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming. Manuel tied with Canada’s Penny Oleksiak to win the 100-meter freestyle event.

And the most-decorated Olympian and swimmer in history, Michael Phelps took home his fourth straight gold medal in the 200 men’s individual medley and his 22nd gold over five Games, 26th medal overall. Phelps joined track and field stars Carl Lewis and Al Oerter as the only Americans to win an individual event four times. Phelps beat his longtime rival, friend, and teammate Ryan Lochte on his way to his victory last night. Phelps still has two more opportunties to win medals with two events left for him in this what he says is now his “final’ Olympics.
As all this was playing out, below is a sampling of what some soap stars had to say and share on social media:
Kimberly McCullough (Robin, GH): “Sobbing heavily you two @Simone_Biles @Aly_Raisman good thing my dog is the only one in the room.” and later with a photo of Biles in her post with an image of two Olympic medals (Biles is going for three moremedals), McCullough added: “You have to envision the goal before you can achieve it (so far)”
Michael Muhney (Ex-Adam, Y&R): “Thanks a lot Simone Manuel & Aly Raisman. I haven’t cried in a while…watching u both cry after your competitions made me cry like a baby.”
Chad Duell (Michael, GH) “Phelps is legend” & “Congrats @simone_manuel !”

Wally Kurth (Justin, DAYS, Ned, GH): “Brava Aly Raisman! What an amazing performance!” Followed by “And Simone biles! Omg! You both make America proud” and “Hats off to Ryan Lochte. A great Olympian. A star. Michael Phelps is otherworldly. We will never see another swimmer like him in our lives.”
Kathleen Gati (Liesl, GH) “Floor routine by @Aly_Raisman just brought me to tears! Now @Simone_Biles routine got a standing ovation from me! Congrats to both! #Rio2016″
Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH) following Simone Manuel’s Olympic first tweeted: “Hell Yeah!!!!”
Susan Lucci (Ex-Erica, AMC and Genevieve, Devious Maids): “Team USA!!! Can’t get enough of these girls’ Olympic performances!!! Spectacular “Final Five”!”
Molly Burnett (Ex-Melanie DAYS, Ex-Maxie, GH): “Phelps mah GAWD”
Antonio Sabato Jr. (Ex-Jagger, GH, Ex-Dante, B&B): “So happy 4 you girls @Aly_Raisman @Simone_Biles awesome job , amazing athletes and what hearts!”
Marc Anthony Samuel (Felix, GH): “Wow, @Simone_Biles fantastic!!!” and Also @simone_manuel…simply amazing.”
So, what was your reaction to the U.S. Olympic victories by Simon Biles, Michael Phelps, Aly Raisman, and Simone Manuel? Should Kimberly McCullough get the nod to direct the PPL episode featuring Biles? What did you think of the show of soap star pride for the U.S. stellar medal performances last night? Comment below!
LOVE KM response… I can be a blubbering mess when something catches my heart
every 4 years I’m always going to be : with my girls…. ” The Final Five ”
every sport means something… gymnastics seems to be the one sport that every country wants and aspires
SO PROUD of these young ladies… love them to bits
gotta prop and I LOVE THEM : Martha and Bella Karolyi… who have solidified the United States of America… in this beloved mix of coach and athletes who just completed each other … since 1980 -1984 starting with Mary Lou Retton
Defecting to America
After the Olympics, Károlyi again clashed with Romanian Federation officials, and tension escalated. During a 1981 gymnastics tour, Béla, Márta, and Romanian team choreographer Géza Pozsár defected and sought political asylum in the United States. They settled in Oklahoma.
I love this couple… as in their “homeland” and other countries… they created a Dynasty , right here in our good ole’ USA !
four times the hanky last night
1. Simone Bile
2. Aly Raisman
3. Simone Manuel
4. Marta and Bela Karolyi… was so touching to see this couple TOGETHER in the arena applauding Team America
LOL i agree Patrick. But the lol is becausei kept wondering where is Bela and I saw them kissing and it still never registered till now OMG
There was nothing remotely complicated about the tie breaker that cost Aly the bronze medal in the London all around competition…. they just took the two athlete’s aggregate scores and dropped the low scoring apparatus from the total. Since Aliya Mustafina’s lowest score was lower than Aly’s, Mustafina took home the bronze. To me it seems like less a tie breaker and more a slap in the face.
SO PROUD of Aly in Rio! (And Simone, and Gabby, and Laurie, and Maddy!)

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali

Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.
Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).
Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

Photo: Corday Productions, Inc
When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier). However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).
Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”
“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.
Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”
In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.
So, looking forward to seeing Franco LoPresti’s debut come Monday? What do you think about the fact that it’s being reported as a limited run? Do you think Dante and Sami have a chance on-screen or off-screen to be a happy couple? What do you really think brings Dante to Salem sans Sami? ‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others

As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.
As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.
So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

CHECKMATE?
In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.
The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”
Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Photo: Corday Productions
Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.
LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?
In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”
In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”
Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?
So, what do you think about some of the highlights coming up this fall on Days of our Lives per the series head writers? Does anything float your boat or pique your interest? If so, what? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out the action next week on DAYS in the promo entitled “Bag of Tricks” below.
