Steve Burton Signs On With The Young and the Restless For Another Year!

Fan favorite and Daytime Emmy winner, Steve Burton has re-upped his contract, and is staying put in Genoa City for at least another year, which means more of Mr. Dylan McAvoy!

According to CBS Soaps In Depth, Burton told them he is staying for awhile at Y&R, “I’ve re-signed for a year, and I’m very happy!”

Burton joined The Young and the Restless family back in January 2013 after two decades as Jason Morgan on General Hospital.

The actor has been commuting back and forth from his home in Nashville, where he resides with his wife, and three children to tape episodes of the number one daytime drama!

So, glad to know Steve is staying put in Genoa City for the near future?  Share your thoughts below!

who cares?!! we have Billy Miller on GH 😀 He’s cuter and a better actor!!
neener neener neener …

I have to agree Who cares. Their always looking to save money by cutting salary’s Why not get rid of Avery (the cookie maker), Summer (the pouter) and Dylan who does nothing but pour coffee.

No he is not need Steve back at gh to play Jason things have not been the same some actors not just not beeeee replaced on a soap and Jason is one of tbem

Not a fan. Don’t care for Dylan either. How can a character with rage issues be so boring?

MBmomof3…OH, I AGREE!!!!! To me, Dylan is B-O-R-I-N-G PERIOD!!!!!

Jaybird, can you just once pick a lane and tell us how you really feel?

DULLAN

I love you and your comments, jaybird. And, I love how you emphasize every word.
The blue jay is beautiful, just like you.
You are right, and, I cannot say it enough either. Dylan is boring….I get more action from my doorknob….I can open the door with it….later.

CeeCee,

W-o-w!!!!! Girlfriend, I am so TOTALLY flattered!!!!! Thank You. And I love you, too. Girl…you are such a COOL CHICK!!!!! I hope that your husband knows that he is one LUCKY DUDE!!!!! BTW, your ‘doorknob’ comment made me LOL!!!!! Thanks.

Later.

Now could we please make him more interesting a love interest that he has chemistry with! Avery acts too much like his mom .

I was going to say the same thing. I used to really like him with Avery.
And I love Steve in general, and like Dylan. But he needs better
storylines, and to be paired with a woman who doesn’t act like his
mom.

I hope he hooks up with Sharon.

You know, Timmm. Now that I think about it, I can see Dylan and Sharon together. She will definitely give him a run for his money . He needs someone with a complex personality to make HIM interesting ….great idea, Timmm. Then again, you and jimh always come up with goodies.

Steve seems like a great guy. Good news BUT I hope they write him better. He is a huge talent with crappy story lines! I never FF him on GH. Here at Y&R I cannot say the same.

I agree, Timm. His coupling with Betty Crocker, attorney at law, didn’t help and somehow saddling him with the earnest over grown boy scout (Paul) and the somnolent zombie (Nickie) as his parents sure have not helped matters.

Steve Burton is really cool guy..
buty-
he hasn’t had a story.. Y&R uses him as filler, and thats a shame..
All Dylan does is pour coffee and talk with Avery lol ..
I bet he wishes he was still with GH, he would have some really good stuff..
I wish Steve Burton the best and hope Pratt will give him a story, a story that highlights Steve Burton /Dylan..
))Dylan has been totally boring this past year.. yawn..

He would love to be back working for Sonny.

I love Steve Burton so much, he is a terrific actor. I am so happy steve signed a new contract.

Glad to hear it ! Glad SB is staying because Dylan has become part of the Newman family and there is a lot of potential story for him. I like Dylan’s relationship with Nick and look forward to how they could counter balance Adam upon his return.

Good luck, Steve 🙂

That had to be a big part of the talks before his contract was renewed…ONE YEAR??..Something is rotten is GC(DENMARK). Oh what a mess that is going to be wrought when he is let go and realizes he never should have left GH…same for Michelle Stafford when Nina Clay runs her course. Why you need to make characters so Gosh awful dull or Over the top with no redeeming qualities simply because your pen and mind won’t switch off full speed ahead is beyond me!!!

I never saw Michele stafford on y&r so I can’t compare her work there to her work over at GH but I’m enjoying her work over at GH immensely even the over the top “acting” as some call it, too me she’s Devine. As for Steve burton, from what I’m gAthering from y&r fans, he isn’t cutting it with the majority there, and we now have billy miller whose interpretation of Jason is completely opposite Steve burton Jason , he’s not even trying to immatate him, only time will tell if he’ll succeed but so far I haven’t heard any backlash, considering how hugely popular burton was in the role I think he (burton) burned a lot of fans when he chose to fib about joining y&r .

I’m glad that Steve has his schedule set to where he can fly to work during the week & fly back home to Nashville when it’s over. Must be working find for him & his family. It’s good for Y&R he is staying since his characters is connected to so many on the show. I actually like good guy characters on soaps. Burton’s Dylan is a bit too “put-upon” for my tastes. He’s always in a crisis, which is how JFP wrote him on GH, but of course every soap has those characters! It got boring for this GH fan. But to each their own.
I hope this new signing will quiet some of the remaining disappointed GH fans still wishing Burton back instead of Miller. For now though, it seems like a win/win for most.

They need to get Dylan out of the coffee shop & give him a more exciting career like working alongside his father Paul at the GCPD. If you have someone of Steve Burton’s calibre signed to a show then you might as well use him to the best of his ability.

No, being a cop on any show is dreadful. You are never allowed to get your guy!

That’s a great example of dry humor, Timmm…LOL.

I don’t know what the problem is between the Avery and Dylan scenes but there is no chemistry there. The stare at each other with dead eyes and talk. I do FF through their scenes. I think Steve was better on GH. I keep waiting for Avery to develop a personality. I Like all the other actors on Y&R. IMO.

Your right. I like both actors but it seems like they just dont have any chemistry.

🙁 for Y&R fans. Guess that means Avery is staying too. 🙁

I would have liked to see her and Michael hook up but it looks like Mr. Baldwin is leaving.

Does anybody know if CLB is leaving?

Sue, I hear he is headed to GH. Him and Michelle Stafford are good friends and she has been on record about how much fun it has been working on GH so I’m sure she gave him the low down. Christopher is an artist and acting is his craft and he may want to expand on his daytime experience and try something new. It is rumored that him and Michelle’s character will be connected so it makes even more sense. The other thing is it seems like more and more actors are leaving Y&R and you cannot help but look at their leadership as maybe being the reason, as well?

Another year he’s wasting on this dull as ditchwater character, sigh….

Him and Stitch should re-enlist!

See what I mean? Timmm, you crack me up. LOL.

I have always thought Steve Burton was a really talented actor. He can say so much with his eyes without uttering a word. He had some amazing, powerful and poignant scenes on GH.
Yes, despite being allowed to wear color, Dylan is duller than my dishwasher.
I think he’s even more boring with Betty Crocker.
Please give this man a storyline and a romantic partner which is worthy of his talent and charisma.

Steve Burton starred in a movie called ”The Castle” he was awesome and powerful!!
Steve in that movie and Steve in the soap are a 180 ..

Yes, he was really good in The Castle

Wonder how much soap actors get paid, compared to nighttime drama and sitcom actors?

They do well enough as long as they are long term fan favorites who the show wouldn’t dream of letting go of…they make NO WHERE near a primetime salary…that only distinction was given to Susan Lucci who at one point in her AMC career managed to snag a one million dollar a year contract…unheard of at that time in the daytime industry and NEVER to be duplicated. I’m sure and willing to bet that our U.S. highest paid soap actor is Eric Braeden(aka) Victor Newman of The Young and the Restless. Soap salaries depend on long term employment..not overnight primetime hits.

unknowns= around $700/per episode and $1500 per episode after a year.
5-10 years = $1500 to $3000 per episode.
more than 10 years= $2000 to $5000+ per episode.
exceptions /
Tony Geary (Luke, GH) range of 1- 3 million per year, which also includes special privileges including limited work hours and extended vacations.
also- Susan Lucci, Erika Slezak..

I wish could have made a return to GH, and he be in Sam’s dream’
