Super Duper model Paulina Porizkova on her soap stint on ATWT!

paulina_porizkovaSupermodel Paulina Porizkova is heading to As the World Turns this January as a  bitchy sidekick to Simon played by Paul Leyden.  In this rather revealing and hilarious short interview with TV Guide Magazine,  Porizkova, the former cover girl chats about her shock at the ATWT studio digs, the pace of daytime, and how well she thought she pulled off her role of snooty Clarissa.  Check out some excerpts!

Paulina on if anyone warned her how tough doing a soap can be: “Nobody warned me! I showed up at the studio—which is a warehouse in Brooklyn—lugging bags and bags of my own clothes because they claimed they didn’t have my size. No one greets me, so I’m wandering down these long empty hallways that stretch on forever like something from ‘The Shining’ trying to find hair and makeup. Then I find out they like to shoot scenes in only one take and I have, like, 150 pages of script! I’m thinking, Oh, f—k, this does not bode well. It was utterly insane.   I admit I’m a little spoiled. I thought they’d give me a P.A. [production assistant] to help me find my way around and help get me coffee and order me some lunch. But nooo! Nothing. Suddenly I’d hear my name called over the loudspeaker—“Paulina Porizkova to the set please!”—and I wouldn’t know what to do. I’m running in my heels down corridors, up stairs, down stairs going “Where the hell am I?” It took me 10 minutes to find the set! I’m sure they thought I was some kind of pain-in-the-ass diva sitting and snacking in my dressing holding up production. But the people—once I finally found them—were so nice and sweet. No egos. No egos at all—and I haven’t been in that sort of world in a very long time.

Paulina on how she thinks she did in the role: “Who knows? Everybody on the set is too busy to say, “You did well.” They just finish a scene and move on to the next one. Watching the show at home you have no idea how crazy fast it is. I so admire everybody. To do a scene in five minutes and be done is just weird. Maybe Trent was just being nice but he said: “Boy, they really did lay it on you with so much dialogue. You really managed to stay afloat.” And I did! I survived! But my acting? I have no idea how the hell I did. I was just so glad to remember my damn lines.”

Make sure to tune into ATWT on CBS beginning on January 5th for Paulina’s four day soap stint!
