Devious Maids is finally arriving next Sunday, June 23rd (10PMEST) on Lifetime co-starring soap opera icon Susan Lucci!  The Devious Maids pilot episode was just made available for viewers to entice them to join in the fun and the dramedy of the 13 episode arc series on Hulu.com!

Lucci made a stop to Washington D.C.’s WUSA-TV to promote her new role in Devious Maids, but also dished on if a return to All My Children is in any way imminent!

The Daytime Emmy winner, who many hope can work it out to appear in upcoming episodes of the revival of Pine Valley noted once again in this television interview that she is back now filming in New York her Investigation Discovery series, Deadly Affairs, and so she is hoping that Prospect Park and her team can sit down look at the schedules of everyone and figure out if a return could be imminent when the show goes back into production after the labor dispute is resolved as well as the current AMC and OLTL hiatus.

Watch the segment after the jump!  Then, let us know, do you hope Susan returns still to AMC? Will you be watching her on Marc Cherry’s Devious Maids? Let us know!

Susan is one of my favorite actresses, she’s entertaining in whatever she does. Still hoping for an AMC return, however. I think Erica would fit right it as the new series is quite brash and that is exactly what she is.

Well put, and to your question, yes and yes, LOVE Susan!

I second that: yes, yes, and yes, Love Susan and miss her on AMC too.

Hoping she returns to AMC. The show really needs her and Michael E. Knight to return. Not liking the characters being recast! Bring back Erica Kane (Lucci) fulltime.

DM is On Demand, so I’ll at least check out the first ep. If it’s good, I’ll watch.

I will be checking out devious maids but I have one question. Is Susan playing a major character on DM?? All the ads I have seen for DM I have yet to catch a glimpse of Susan?? you really missed the mark lifetime not promoting the fact that Susan is a part of this series.

i saw the pilot of devious maids & as far as i could see the maids are the main characters…………erica was in about 2 scenes and the show is on for an hour……………

Love her and so glad she is working. Would be so happy to see her on AMC, but just happy she is working unlike many of the other actors ABC fired.

Watched episode 1, not my thing so I won’t watch again, not awful, just not my thing. I’d like to see her back on AMC but as long as Angie and Jesse are on I’m happy!

wow, the reporter certainly has not done her homework as far as All My Children is concerned; First she calls her Susan Loosey, at least that’s what I heard. And then she’s like, I hear All My Children might be coming back? What? Get your homework done first girl.

What I thought was a funny was.
Susan said in DM her ‘son’ was in collage LOL
That would be/should be, her grandson..

I thought the same thing – do some research lady before you Interview someone as Iconic as Susan Lucci – learn to pronounce her name correctly and get your facts straight. She bluffed her way (badly) while attempting to interview Susan.
Yeesch!

AMC could only benefit by Susan Lucci. Erica is not even mentioned, let alone seen. There is a lack of Kanes in Pine Valley, and I’m hoping for Aunt Kendall and Grandma Erica to join Miranda and Bianca in town soon. How great it would be to see Erica and Dimitri mix it up again! I watched the first eppy of Devious Maids and it’s not bad. SL was only in 2 or 3 scenes, so she’s not The Star of the show, but she’s good and it’s nice to see her acting again, especially in a role that is more insecure and needy than Erica. Hope to see SL again on AMC in the near future.

Actually Bianca has brought up Erica’s name a couple times when she has scenes with Miranda. I do hope Susan can work things out to make an appearance. I love the reboot but her presence is diffinitely missed!

Yes, let’s hope that is where things are headed–not just a guest appearance, but regular appearances and storylines with the Great Erica Kane in them.

Well, her character is needed on ALL MY CHILDREN, that’s all I can say. Maybe If Erica Kane was there with Bianca and if they bring in Kendall it might bear more of a resemblence to the AMC we all know and remember. Somehow, without Tad Martin, Erica Kane, Kendall Slater and other key players, Pine Valley doesn’t quite feel like Pine Valley to me. At least, if Susan were around as Erica Kane she could annoy Brooke and interfere with how Bianca handles Miranda.

I disagree. Don’t get me wrong I would be happy to see Erica, Tad and Kendall back but even though they’re not on now I feel AMC is better than I’ve ever seen it. Lots of fans hated on the show for years even when those characters were on. As long as they keep doing great I won’t get hung up on who currently isn’t on.

So I get it that this is a new beginning for PV, but I am one of the long time watchers since the 60s when I was a kid. Is the new beginnings of AMC supposed to only cater to the “new” “younger” viewers and say, out with the old, in with the new? I’ll bet it would lose a lot of longtime loyal viewers where were the very ones screaming to keep AMC and OLTL when it was canceled by the unnamed horrible network? that would not be fair. There has to be a balance–a good balance that is great for the show and equally great to old and new viewers alike. I am happy to see Michael Nader back by the way.

I totally agree!!! Don’t understand why it had to start out 5 years after the original show ended. Dixie is not old enough to be a grandmother to A.J. and I don’t like the new J.R. The show just doesn’t seem right!!

Erica would never fit into the new modern AMC..
she just does not belong in this AMC.. she will be very out of place and look ridiculous with her trade mark diva hair flipping 80’s era diva flaunting ..
even on Devious Maids she will still be the prancing diva Erica, she can only be the 80’s diva no matter what roll she would play ..
And that will not fit into this AMC.. 🙂

SuOOOO, I totally disagree with you on your take that Erica Kane would be out of place and look ridiculous. Preposterous assumption on your part. Erica Kane (played by none other than Susan Lucci would actually boost the ratings of the show. She will fit into PV much better than some of the other new characters. She is the life of PV in my book. She’s bigger than life, and so much more than an “80s diva” in my book. Right now, PV needs life pumping back into it. Sure there are great storylines going on, but PV seems subdued in comparison to what’s going on in Llanview, PA. I don’t think it’s the writers, I think the characters are largely boring and predictable. With Erica Kane, anything can (and generally will) happen. And that, as they say, is onlyMy2Cents.

susan lucci is not coming back to all my children. too late. its going to be cancelled soon. susan lucci has moved on. agnes nixon failed yet again. i hate agnes nixon. she is such a bitch. she is phoney and needs to retire, i never did like agnes nixon. she is senile old witch.

Leo, I keep hearing that the cancelation rumors are not true and got started up after someone picked up on an old post while ABC still owned the rights to the shows. Well, Prospect Park owns the rights now and as far as I know both shows are doing quite well and are NOT getting canceled at all. Where are you getting your information from.

After the mess Marc Cherry made with Desperate Housewives, I won’t be tuning in to Devious Maids, but I do hope Susan can come back to AMC. I wonder how Erica would feel about Dimitri working closely with Brooke?

I think AMC desperatly needs Susan Lucci back. The show needs her kind of drama on it. I watch AMC faithfully, bu I miss the longstanding characters, Erica, Ryan, Tad, Liza. I like the storyline with Pete and Celia, but I think she needs to ditch the school and get her own place. We need to see some backstory about where Colby has been and what she’s been up to…She acts like a bad-girl now (I wonder what’s happened to make her that way?) I miss Kendall and wish she would return–she was always more exciting than Bianca anyway. What about Greenlee? The storyline with Jessie/Cassie/Angie is pretty good. Get rid of Billy Clye Tuggle already. I thought he was long-dead…:)

I’m with you on that – why in the heck do they need Billy Clyde Tuggle back on the show? It is almost as if the Producers will grab anyone who used to be on the show that is available. His character was cute and funny back in the day (waaay back in the day) but seems pointless now.

I get it they are trying to show the dangers of young girls being too trusting in public places and what can happen (and really does happen in real life) every day, not just in America, but across the globe. I get that, but Billy Clyde Tuggle? He was a joke back in the day and he’s a joke in 2013. How does he even have any “girls” in his so-called “stable?” I mean, just look at him…how on earth could someone like him EVER pull that off? I am not LMAO.
So, I get it now…he is back to make us all laugh…that works!

That woman needs to know how to pronounce her name, before she started the interview.

i already saw the pilot for devious maids & i must say i was not impressed at all………………

That’s expected from a horrid writer like cherry.

It’s too bad though that these are the only kind if roles available to Latin american actresses.

I would love to see her back on AMC, but I also like seeing her in other things. I will check out the Devious Maids episodes, as I also LOVE Anna Ortiz.

ditto

I would LOVE to see Erica Kane make an appearance on AMC!!!!! I know Susan is busy with other projects, but still, Pine Valley could use a visit from the one and only Erica Kane! And I would love to see her with Miranda right now.

I see both sides of the picture here – I do understand that some feel that this ALL MY CHILDREN is a new inception of the show, which to some degree it is. However, the character of Erica Kane can only help this show, which so far has had some very mediocre scripts. True, the character of Erica Kane is a little over-the-top but that’s how she is, and to say that she just wouldn’t “fit in” with this modern show is a little harsh, I think she would fit in just fine.
The scene between the new Colby and the new Petey in the bedroom was a bit too over the edge for me – we get the point, I don’t see why it is necessary to depict it in such a way. We know that Colby is making a play for him and this will drive a wedge between himself and Celia, but I don’t think we need to see him responding to a sexual act the way that it was shown. I’m no prude, but I feel like soap characters are like friends and when things are depicted too graphically I almost feel intrusive, and I wonder if others feel the same way. In other words, we “get” that Colby is out to seduce him, it’s already been more than suggested, why can’t we have a close up of a kiss and that’s it? We have imaginations don’t we – in other words, we “get the picture”. I am trying REALLY TRYING to like this new rebirth of ALL MY CHILDREN, a show I watched for over thirty years. Sometimes, I almost feel like I’m trying too hard.

I agree here…soap characters are like ones own family and friends…i wouldnt watch my real family and friends doing the[blank] so i dont want to here as well…im no prude but this sex stuff here is going too far! Im not looking for Disney channel stuff but if Y&R can be hugely popular without it these reboots can too. Anyone who critics me for voicing my opinion go right ahead…i dont care!

Johnny, it couldn’t have been better said. I agree.

Enjoyed the pilot of DM and plan on watching the series … it’s a good ensemble show with very dark humor. Would welcome a brief visit to Pine Valley by Erica but the AMC reboot has been so well planned with respect to character and story, it’s not necessary for SL to become a permanent cast member; recasts and new characters are excellent. Would like to see Kendall return, if possible, and it would be a pleasure to welcome Tad the Cad if he wants to catch up with his family members … but he may not want another confrontation with Billy Clyde Tuggle! LOL

I agree, I would love to see Erica whenever Susan has a chance to show up and do short term arcs. Count me as another one who really misses Kendall, and feels that AMC badly needs her. There’s something not quite clicking with this show yet, but I think getting a few more familiar faces would help. I’m hopeful the new writers are looking at doing just that and looking forward to what they will bring to the show.

Susan is an icon as Erica Kane and she needs to be on AMC now. She brings a bit of oomph to the show; she is needed now.

My feelings exactly.

She has no desire to star on an online soap, at least not long term. I wish she would just be honest and let the fan girls not get their hopes up.

One person on here had written that all Latin americans are the help when it was discussed that a former days actor was cast on this devious drama. It’s bec pop culture shapes how people are viewed. This is exactly the reason for american government spending tons of money researching film and tv as propaganda tools. It’s bec stupid films and tv shows from hollywood make people think that how hollywood portrays certain chars is true for entire groups. Majority of gay chars are shown as rich and white bec hollywood wants people to think flatteringly abt 1.6% of population. Yet stupid hollywood alienates 60 million Latin americans w/ devious crap where the help are all Latin american chars. The worst aspect of devious piece of crap is that it’s a telenovela remake. The rich chars and the help from telenovela were all Latinos. Yet the devious remake only cast Latin american actresses as the help while the rich chars are white like lucci. Did hollywood have to replace all the upper class Latin chars with white people and leave all the help as Latin american women? No. But that is typical from the tolerance crowd of hollywood. Even Cosmo Latin editor herrera mulligan has called devious drama’s producer eva longoria a sellout. It’s bad enough when hollywood’s white execs stereotypically portray racial minority chars. It’s even worse when a racial minority actress like longoria throws her own community under the bus w/ this devious drama. A prominent and bestselling Latin american author is one of the many people denouncing devious drama. She was creating a tv show w/ the same network of devious piece of crap. She related that network execs told her that an outline of her pilot was not “Latin enough” bec it was abt Latin american women who were educated. One exec even had the gall to tell her that “This reads as if it were about me and my friends.” Is it bec these Latin american women were middle class and not the stereotypical role of the help? All the Latin american chars are the help while the rich chars are white. This is typical of day and night dramas. How many Latin american families are represented on the remaining day and night soaps as rich? Compare that w/ how many core families are portrayed as rich and white? That’s typical hollywood. There are limited kinds of roles for racial minorities while white actors have diversity of roles. Even academic research on mainstream film and tv roles for Latinos has shown that the only roles representing Latin american culture are stereotypical chars like hypersexualized woman and dying immigrant and gang member and maid of course.

Latin americans are really being bashed recently. Devious drama is obviously very offensive towards Latin americans. Even a child singer named sebastian de la cruz is getting hate tweets from racists for singing national anthem at spurs arena for nba finals. Where’s hollywood screaming abt how a Latin american child is being bullied? Tolerant hollywood would only be screaming if it was abt gay bullying. All these nba athletes and general managers and coaches were tweeting praise and speaking to the media abt how past nba athlete collins has come out of the closet. But only spurs coach gregg popovich has spoken abt the racism directed towards a Latin american child singer. How pathetic. Even the nba is more engaged w/ gay and lesbian issues than w/ talking abt racism towards Latin americans. Sports media still keeps talking abt collins coming out as the 1st athlete from pro sports even if an athlete from LA dodgers had come out during the 70s to the media. Yet collins is completely irrelevant to the NBA bec he’s not on any team roster. NBA and sports media even avoid writing anything critical of collins and his past engagement to a woman. Yet collins’ column from sports illustrated mentioned he knew that he was gay as a child. Why string a woman along then? Why get engaged to her if he knew he was gay? But of course collins won’t be criticized for his engagement by nba and sports media. NBA’s lack of commentary on racism directed at a Latin american child singer is really pathetic. What makes it even more pathetic is that NBA and sports media still keep reporting on collins only bec he’s gay. How is it news that collins is at a pride march? But majority of sports media and athletes and coaches won’t talk abt racism directed at a Latin american child singer. Same thing w/ tolerant and enlightened hollywood. Devious drama exec producer eva longoria is only actress who tweeted abt the racism directed at de la cruz. Yet she exec produces a tv show w/c perpetuates harmful stereotypes towards Latin american women! Harmful stereotypes from hollywood contribute to bashing Latin american culture bec people believe that how hollywood portray chars is applicable to an entire group. It’s great that devious drama is already getting all this backlash!

It doesn’t matter to me if she comes on AMC or not. If she does fine,if she doesn’t that’s okay also…

One of the joys of the original AMC was that it was multi-generational. In thread after thread of recent conversation, the naysayers of the new AMC have been reminded of the iconic “teen” stories that have fueled the show for over 40 years. I know; I saw them all. The new incarnation is still getting on its feet, and I think they are addressing a certain imbalance in the generational storytelling. Frankly, I find the plotlines for Jesse, Angie, Zach, David, JR and Cara more compelling right now than the stories for the younger folks. I think they’re missing a key element of the early AMC: humor! Erica and Tad always brought some laughs, so I can understand why they’re missed. Even Opal, who is always good for a smile, is so far reduced to baking brownies and patting her son on the head. I’m not that concerned. They’re working on it. And Brooke bringing Dmitri back to town is a very good sign. Of course it would be fun to see Erica and Tad again. But there’s some fun brewing with characters like Billy Clyde and Colby. I’m happy to go along for the ride! 🙂

You’re right about that aspect of it too Brad, it’s missing humor. It’s also missing some decent writing.
The fact that Tad Martin isn’t there hurts the show – and I now agree it has to be Michael E. Knight in the role or don’t bother – and of course, Erica Kane has to be played by Susan Lucci. I am now convinced that Key roles cannot be re-cast so easily. A supporting role like Colby Chandler, well fine, she’s been played by so many blonde actresses what’s the difference. But if ALL MY CHILDREN doesn’t get on the stick, forget it.

Johnny, I don’t think we’ve seen the work of the new writers yet. Hopefully, they will bring some wit and flair to the proceedings. And yes, some characters are iconic and cannot be successfully recast (although Jill Larson has done a wonderful job as Opal #2, and I sure remember how amazing Dorothy Lyman was.). Better a brief cameo by Susan Lucci than a “new” Erica. But they know that!

I started watching All My Children In 1980 and Erica was my favorite character. I hope she does return. Even though I am watching every new episode it is not the same without her. I would also like to see Michael Knight come back as Tad.

I am LOVING Susan Lucci in Devious Maids. She has a comedic side we have not seen while channeling echos of Erica Kane (slightly nutty) but awesome. We will see Ms. Lucci on AMC in the future now that Oprah has picke the shows up for a “test” run so AMC fan relax…our dreams will come true soon!!! 🙂

Probably will never watch her on anything other than AMC. Forgive me for being selfish, but miss her so much as Erica! Desperately wish the show had remained as it once was.

Me, too!!! It is so different with different people. I have noticed that the language is pretty bad at times and this was never part of the original AlMC.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Photo: ABC

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

Photo: ABC

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Now, let us know, did you enjoy Carol as Verla Grubbs? What show do you consider yourself a Superfan of? Tell us in the comment section.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

Photo: ABC

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Photo: ABC

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Share you remembrances and condolences for Malachy McCourt via the comment section, but first check out this scene from a 1983 episode of “Ryan’s Hope” featuring the late actor with Ilene Kristen.
