Sydney Mikayla Makes Decision to Exit General Hospital

Sprina fans received a bit of a gut-punch today, with the reports and then confirmation that Sydney Mikayla has decided to leave her role as Trina Robinson on General Hospital.
Mikayla, who became very popular as part of the teen scene and her budding on-screen love story with Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer Cassadine), has decided to leave the ABC daytime drama to focus on college. Sydney is currently a freshman at UCLA.
In a statement, Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital) told Soap Opera Digest on Mikayla’s departure: “Sydney asked to leave in order to focus on college. We love her and are sad to see her go, but of course support her decision and wish her the best.”
Sydney then told SOD: “I have loved working on General Hospital, but I feel like this is the right time to dive in and enjoy my college experience to the fullest. The cast has become family and bringing the character of Trina to life has been one of the best experiences of my career thus far. Thank you to Frank and the entire team for believing in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity. I will miss working with everyone every day, but I am excited to see what is to come for the show.”

Look for Mikayla to last air as Trina on the upcoming March 17th episode. Then, later in the month the NuTrina, actress Tabyana Ali (pictured above), will take over the role.
So, sad to hear Sydney has left GH? Send your well-wishes to her via the comment section below.
Can’t blame her for making her education a priority… I just hope she gets to wrap up her storylines before the recast takes over…. like the obvious poorly kept secret that Curtis is her real dad… and this whole impending disaster with Ryan Jr… uh…Esme framing her for the Cam/Joss “sex tape” that Trina couldn’t have possibly filmed because she was passed out from Esme’s drugs at the time.
The recast shouldn’t be the one who gets to act this all out. Nor would she probably want to walk in to the middle of all that.
Best of luck hope you can come back wish you the best ❤️❤️❤️
I agree….
But I guess it didn’t happen that way, and that’s sad!
I am going to really miss this character. We fans hate to see you go but commend you on your decision to pursue your education. You were a fabulous actress and so talented and we hope to see you back someday.
All the best to her… but i feel gutted for the show. I so enjoy her acting so very much. She made all her scenes so real and honest. I will miss Trina and Eva scenes too. Wish her all the best!
Mikayla is a terrific actor and will be missed! Good luck to her in college…she deserves to enjoy her college life!
Will miss her, great little actress, you go girl!!
Awww I’m sorry to see you go! Good luck at UCLA you’re going to go far my dear!
I will miss you as Trina very much. Good luck on your new endeavors, you have a bright future ahead.
I will miss you as Trina. You are a wonderful actor & I wish you well in your new adventure. You will go far!
Much love
Sandy
Terribly say to hear Sidney is leaving GH. She is sooo talented and can say sooo much with just a look. I wish her nothing but the best in her college endeavors. She will be missed.
And Best Wishes to Tabyana as she puts her stamp on the role of Trina.
I will certainly miss you and your adorable personality on General Hospital! Enjoy your college experience! Love Laurie Cancellara
Sydney Mikayla it’s a been a pleasure watching you bring the character of Trina to life! I really send you well wishes and prayers on your new and next endeavors whatever they may be!! I am fan for life! #GH’er4Life ❤️❤️❤️
This young lady was a really good actor. Her along with the actors who play Cam, Spenser and Joss all have such great chemistry. Its going to be tough to recast her role and to fit in with the young talent they have.
She will be missed. Good for her for putting her education first.
I wish Sydney the best!! She is an exceptional young actress and I’m going to miss her on screen. She has a great future ahead of her and hope she enjoys her college experience. Selfishly, I’m going to miss her with the great teens and acting opposite Maura West because they all had such great chemistry together.
Going to miss you a ton! The GH young cast is truly amazing. Reminds me of Phillip, Beth, Rick, and Mindy on Guiding Light circa 1983, but very relevant for 2022.
Sydney you will be missed! You played Trina with all your heart! Best wishes with your future at UCLA!

Donna Mills, Linda Gray, Nicollette Sheridan, Morgan Fairchild, Loni Anderson to Appear in Lifetime’s 80s and Soap-Themed Holiday Movie

Wowza! Now here’s a line-up of soap opera and primetime favorites all in one movie! Coming up for the holidays, Lifetime has revealed they have an 80s and soap-themed film starring: Donna Mills (ex-Knots Landing, General Hospital), Linda Gray (ex-Dallas), Nicollette Sheridan (ex-Knots Landing and Dynasty), Morgan Fairchild (ex-Falcon Crest, SFT, DAYS et al) and Loni Anderson (ex-WKRP in Cincinnati).
Filmed earlier in 2023, Ladies of the 80’s is said to follow five soap opera divas (how fun and perfect!), as they reunite to shoot the final Christmas episode of their long-running soap opera!
In story, the producer, Alex (Travis Burns) and director Nell (Taylor Ann Thompson), who happen to be old college friends, do their best to keep things on the rails but as the ladies come together, old rivalries resurface that threaten to tear the production apart. With the show nearly canceled before it even begins due to the ladies’ famous diva behavior, they reluctantly agree to set aside their differences and past secrets to “act” as if they all still love each other. When old sparks reignite between Alex and Nell, the ladies become eager to play cupid and conspire to bring the couple together.
But wait, there’s more! In addition to the five leading ladies, the cast also includes: Days of our Lives favorite Patrika Darbo (ex-Nancy), Alec Mapa, and Donna Mills’ real-life daughter, Chloe Mills, plus 80s heartthrob, Christopher Atkins.

There is even a Ladies of the 80’s theme song, performed by none other than 80’s pop star, Tiffany!
In a statement on the project, the movie’s EP Larry A. Thompson shared: “The opportunity to bring together Donna, Morgan, Loni, Linda and Nicollette, five powerhouse women into one holiday movie, has been like finding the perfect gift under the Christmas tree.”
