THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: Liam Flatlines! Is His Health Crisis a Mechanism to Reignite the Steffy/Hope Triangle, or Is it Scott Clifton’s Exit Storyline?

By Michael Fairman

Cliffhanger Friday on The Bold and the Beautiful, brought with it the pick-up of the Thursday episode shocker, which saw Liam (after a massive confrontation with his father Bill Spencer), lose consciousness and fall to the floor, as he hit his head on the way down.

On the April 4th episode of the CBS daytime drama series, Liam (Scott Clifton) somehow manages to get back up off the floor and stammers around for his footing inside Bill’s (Don Diamont) living room. He then notices he has blood dripping from the back of his head. Scared and confused, Liam makes his way to the front door of the house, only to pass out again and hit his head on the cement on the ground in front of the house.

Of course, Kelly (Sophia Paras) is waiting to have father/daughter time with Liam, and is hanging out with Finn (Tanner Novlan) at the cliff house. Meanwhile, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is worried about Liam and how he has taken the news that his father, Bill kept a convicted killer and her kidnapper  under house arrest at his home.

Hope (Annika Noelle) is talking with her father, Deacon (Sean Kanan) at Il Giardino about the whole Forrester Creations takeover and the fallout with Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). She begins to realize things really went south for her after she served Liam with divorce papers, and continues to note what a good man and a good father he is to his children, Kelly and Beth.

Steffy also reflects on what a good man Liam is, and decides to head out to talk to Bill. When she arrives on the scene, she sees Liam unconscious and bleeding on the ground. She immediately calls 9-1-1.  Next, Liam arrives in critical condition in the emergency room where Dr. Grace Buckingham (Cassandra Creech) is on duty.

Grace asks Liam, “Do you know where you are? What happened to you? Did somebody to this to you?” Liam doesn’t respond and Steffy asks why he’s unresponsive. Dr. Buckingham surmises that Liam has suffered an intracranial hemorrhage, which is blood pooling between the brain and the skull that prevents oxygen from reaching the brain. She explains to Steffy that it only takes a few minutes for brain cells to die without enough oxygen.

Next, Dr. Buckingham hollers at the nurse that she needs a CT scan STAT! Steffy tells Liam she’s right here, but suddenly, Liam flatlines as the doctor and the nurse go into life-saving mode, while Steffy cries out for Liam! We fade to black.

The Bold and the Beautiful’s executive producer and head writer, Brad Bell previewed a new story for Scott Clifton in early February in an interview with TV Insider where he shared, “We have a great story for Liam (Scott Clifton) coming up as well, which I am very excited about.”

Courtesy/CBS

So, now the discussion becomes, what is the great story? Are we about to get a repeat of the long-running triangle where both Steffy and Hope realize the man for them is Liam and this health crisis dredged up all those old feelings? Will Liam wake up with amnesia thinking he is still married to Steffy Forrester, which will cause major drama in her marriage to Finn on top of his Luna and Sheila familial ties? Will that leave Hope open to pursue Finn, yet again?

Could it be that none of this will proven to be true, and when Liam wakes up he will be having to learn how to exist partially brain-damaged or even from a stroke, or will Liam have a major personality shift, where he may actually have several personalities? Finally, could it be that Scott Clifton has decided to exit The Bold and the Beautiful and this is his final storyline?

Now below share your theories; why did The Bold and the Beautiful give Liam a traumatic brain injury? Comment below.

i dont think he will think he is married to steffy cause how would that work out when she has a husband home he wont be able to go to her house i think he will think he is married to hope cause she was his last wife he tried to get back with her a few months ago plus if shes hiding out at deacons and he wakes up want to see his wife they will have to find her

I rather see him wake up as a person who has finally knows what it is he wants far as his life goes. He already tried dating as he told Steffy but it didn’t work out. It won’t work with Hope either even if the writers have them together.

Team Exit ✓

I’m team exit as well, but not because of the actor, Scott as Liam, but because the B and B storylines are absolutely unbearable.

Still hoping that Daren Brooks takes on the role of Michael Corinthos at GH, and if Scott Clifton were to return as Dillon Quartermaine, then we could get some really good and fun interactions on screen with the two actors, for they play very well off of each other.

But PLEASE do not have this be part of Jacqueline’s storyline to go on maternity leave for the upcoming months with the potential for a reunion of the Liam/Hope/Steffy triangle. That ship sailed at least three cycles ago…

And we do NOT need another “Liam has amnesia” storyline, which reminds me of how he played off of Rena Sofer’s Quinn who is currently on GH – get him to the Quartermaine Mansion ASAP!

While I do NOT watch #Bold any longer having stopped when Brad Bell fired Krista Allen as Taylor a couple of years ago, I truly believe that this is indeed Scott Clifton’s exit storyline. I’m hoping that former #Bold writer Michele Val Jean snaps him up and brings him on board to play firefighter Derek in a recast on #BTG.

That could work too. The Derek/Ashley pairing is not intriguing, though I feel that it may be both of the actors protraying that matchup…

I’d prefer seeing the Dillon Quartermaine character return with all of the Lulu, Dante, Brook Lynn, Chase stuff that is about to explode. That would provide Scott with lots of history to bring into the present situation of Port Charles.

And there also is the passing of Monica that is immenent, may she RIP. The Cardiac Unit looks lovely, and actually looks like new wings in current hospitals.

Krista Allen did relocate to Atlanta, so I’m guessing she will show up on BTG if it is successefully launched/renewed. I only FF thru B&B and do not listen to the dialogue, for it is repetatively painful.

I think the possibilities are endless and we just have to wait and see which Liam we will get. I don’t think he’s leaving the show. Maybe he’ll turn out to be Bill, Jr. exactly what he doesn’t want to be.

It’s possible he had a Stroke, the reason he passed out after Bill left and then he came to, got up, stumbled outside and fell again, where Steffy found him. No one knows the real facts and I hope tests show something happened before he fell and hurt his head.

I don’t think he is leaving. I think something has to come of him and hope..now they are both alone…so this will bring them together pissing stephi off I love it! Anything that pisses off stephy do it!!!

No renewed triangle, please. It wasn’t much fun the fifth or sixth go-around.

Oh please, no more steffy and Liam, no more steffy and anybody. And Taylor is so boring and useless. She needs to go and not come back.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Marlena Looks Back at 50 Years in Salem

Published

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.

To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).

With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE

From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run.

Paul thinks he is looking at 70s, and early 80s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall)Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.

In the present, Belle (Martha Madison) has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.

Back to the history lesson, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)

Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing her baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.

JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL

Then, in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been in, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice Horton, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!

The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunions in a soap opera love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE

When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills in Paul on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena comes back into the room and overhears, and says to promise her if things get dangerous he will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.

As the episode comes to a conclusion, it’s just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives, and that she is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.

An end card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena, and we fade to black.

So, what did you think of Marlena’s walk down memory lane? Were you happy to see the flashback clips utilized throughout? Were you touched by the scenes and the performance of Deidre Hall? Let us know what you thought of Deidre’s 50th anniversary episode via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sidwell Surfaces; A Twist in Britt’s Condition

Published

By

On the Thursday, June 18 episode of General Hospital, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) makes his shocking return right in Port Charles, after fleeing (thanks to Cassius) to supposedly parts unknown to escape capture for trying to kill Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis).

How does he show up in town? First, Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove) gets a text from Jacinda (Paige Herschell) to meet in his hotel room. Ezra thinks the two are going to have a sexcapade so he puts champagne on ice for his favorite escort.

Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. Ezra’s excitement turns towards fear as instead of Jacinda, Sidwell is standing in front of him. Next, Sidwell blackmails Boyle telling him he has plenty of leverage he can use against him. Sidwell wants to use Ezra to help him takedown, Sonny (Maurice Benard), Lucas, Laura (Genie Francis) and Cullum.

ARE SIDWELL’S DAYS NUMBERED?

Meanwhile, Sonny confides in his brother, Ric (Rick Hearst). He says he knows who killed Marco an he is going to use that intel to lure Sidwell out of hiding.  Sonny also shares he is going to kill Sidwell, and handle this by himself. He gave the PCPD a chance, but they failed to nab Sidwell for good and lock him up.

Sonny also has been tracking the whereabouts of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Rocco (Finn Carr) through Brick, and learned they took a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and then boarded a fairy to take them somewhere off the island.

BRITT’S ‘SYMPTOMS’ RETURN

Turns out, Britt and Rocco are hiding out in the British Virgin Islands. Britt set up Rocco with a burner phone and a VPN on her tablet, that is not traceable. Rocco reads on the tablet about Lucas’ shooting. Britt starts to have the shakes and passes out. When she comes to, Britt won’t let Rocco call a doctor, but he uses his phone to step on the balcony and call Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and ask for help. Charlotte looks shocked to hear from her brother as Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) looks on!

However, Joe (Jonathan Bennett) could be the one to put two and two together! While at General Hospital and after questioning Lucas about a syringe he found that was in someone’s possession. the toxicology report showed traces of saline solution, not actual medication. He asks Dr. Jones, why someone would inject themselves with saline? Lucas responds saline is harmless and would have no effect on someone.

So, does this mean that this entire time, Britt has been led to believe that the medication she was taking to treat her Huntington’s disease was placebo? Has Britt been lied to into believing she is dying? Is something else wrong with her instead?

Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below, and if you are ready for Sidwell to finally get his comeuppance from Sonny! But first, watch the scenes where Sidwell comes out of hiding and blackmails Ezra Boyle.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Dante and ‘Nathan’ Have It Out, Valentin and Carly Share Passionate Moments Which May Be Their Last

Published

on

By

On the June 16 episode of General Hospital, the PCPD under acting police commissioner Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is in a bit of mess and does not go unnoticed by ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor).

First, there is the whole Chase (Josh Swickard) defending Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) over Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), who he arrested for allegedly tossing Willow in the waters next to the Quartermaine boathouse. Turner has had it with Chase’s good guy act and how he tampered with evidence in her case against Willow for shooting Drew.

Later, Dante and Justine question “Nathan” (Ryan Paevey) about Sidwell’s escape while in his custody. Turner is not buying his cover story that he was ambushed by Sidwell and his men. Once “Nathan” left the interrogation room, Turner went in on Dante about having “Nathan” on the force after seven years away, and Chase she views as a “dirty cop.”

However, Dante defends both of his officers, but Justine warned that “Nathan” and Chase’s behavior would reflect poorly on Dante as commissioner and she should really think about that. Later, Dante has a terse confrontation with “Nathan” on how he botched a prison transport and that he better watch his back as Justine is one step away from turning this over to Internal Affairs.

COP MADNESS

Next, “Nathan” apologizes for the way he handled the situation with Rocco and says he feels badly. But then in the twist, Dante said that he was grateful that “Nathan” had been there for his son in his time of need (referencing after Rocco shot Cullum and covered it up).

Then, there’s the newest police officer in the precinct, Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett). He may actually be on to “Nathan’s” double life when he questions him about a syringe found in Britt’s room at Bobbie’s. “Nathan” made up a story to counter Joe’s, that he was not aware that his sister was taking anything for her Huntington’s disease diagnosis. Joe called the forensic department lab wanting to know what drug was exactly in the syringe.

BEFORE YOU GO

At Carly’s (Laura Wright), Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) tells her that he must travel to Geneva to speak to the head of the WSB, named Z. Valentin feels it’s the only way to save Josslyn if he informs Z about Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) being a double agent. Valentin shares with Carly that he has to stop Cullum from bringing his dangerous cold fusion device online. Carly is beside herself. She doesn’t want Valentin to sacrifice himself by turning himself into the organization who has made him a fugitive in the first place. Valentin stands firm that he must meet Z in person.

Knowing that revealing himself to the WSB meant he was likely going back to prison, Valentin asked Carly if she’d get in touch with his daughter, Charlotte so he could say good-bye to her. Next, Carly and Valentin make their way to the bedroom to make love, which may be for the very last time, if Valentin is caught and put back in Steinmauer Maximum Security Prison.

CAUGHT BY CULLUM

At the same time while at Wydemere, Cullum is talking with one of his WSB operatives. Now, he is pondering if Valentin and Sidwell were working together all along.  Next, Cullum entertains the idea of involving the FBI to locate Britt and Rocco. He says he plans to kill them both once he knows of their whereabouts. Cullum sees the only other threat to the completion of the cold fusion project to be Anna Devane.

Cullum wants to track the location of the unidentified person who called the private clinic in France trying to get in touch with Anna, while pretending to be Kevin Collins. When the agent came back with a report, he says it emanated from a cell tower near Shoreline Road. It’s in the that moment that a light bulb goes on for Cullum! Valentin is in Port Charles and hiding at Carly’s!

So, what do you think of the PCPD cops, Chase, Joe and “Nathan?” Who should Dante fire? Do you think Valentin will go the run?Are you digging Carly and Valentin’s relationship and want it to continue, especially with Finola Hughes on her way back as Anna next month on-screen? Weigh-in via the comment section, and in case you missed it, you can check out our latest interview with Dominic Zamprogna below from his appearance on the Michael Fairman Channel, where he talks the PCPD cops, Rocco on the run, and more.
