Over the weekend, 15 people were killed and 27 hospitalized in a mass shooting at Sydney Australia’s Bondi Beach on December 14. The attack had been declared a terrorist incident targeting Jewish Australians, during the first day of Hanukah, the festival of lights, which lasts 8 days. The Bondi Beach attacks were the country’s worst mass shooting in nearly three decades.

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Sean Kanan spoke out about the incident, the rise of antisemitic hate in this county and abroad with an important and touching video that he posted on X on Sunday. Kanan has played Deacon Sharpe on the CBS soap opera on and off since 200o. His most current run with the show began back in 2021. He is also best-known for his role as AJ Quartermaine on General Hospital, which he played on and off until 2014.

Kanan began his video stating: “As Jews around the world celebrate Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Light, our prayers, my prayers go out to the victims of the antisemitic attack in Australia that has left Bondi Beach stained in blood from a barbaric act of terrorism. I pray for everyone whose lives have been damaged by atrocities like this. Antisemitism, like any act of senseless violence directed at a group because of the religion, their race, or sexual orientation diminishes all of humanity, not just those who are targeted.”

Looking for then answer to the “why” behind the senseless acts of violence, Sean concluded with, “There can be any meaning that can arise from something like this, I pray that is one race, the human race, we can rise up with one voice and say no more. I pray that we can come together and recognize that we are fundamentally more alike than not, and that there is no room in our planet for this. God bless everyone.”

Sadly, identified victims of the shootings are between ages 10 and 87.  One of the victims is a Holocaust survivor, who died shielding his wife from bullets. Two rabbi’s were also victims. The suspects were a father and son duo. The 50-year-old father was shot and killed during the shootings, while the 24-year-old son was said to be in critical condition in the hospital. Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the suspects were “driven by ideology.”

Now below, check out Sean’s message that antisemitism and hate towards a group for their religion, their race, or sexual orientation should not be tolerated in this country or around the world. Then let us know what you thought of it, and the senseless killings in Australia over the weekend via the comment section.

Very sad.

It’s truly a terrifying time to be Jewish with the rampant rise of antisemitism.

It was then that after playing the part of Stephanie for 25 years that Susan made the decision to retire from acting and in one of the most heartbreaking sendoffs, passes away from lung cancer in Brooke’s arms in November of 2012. Both Susan and Ian shared their thoughts on coming back to The Bold and the Beautiful, for Susan 14 years later since he exited and for Ian close to 9 years since his last appearance below.

Susan said, “It’s definitely like coming home in a way, even though it’s not the same studio. It’s really lovely to see old faces and old faces with new faces. It takes you back mentally. You start remembering what it was like back then, even things like how much your feet would ache at the end of the day from wearing six-inch heels. It was just lovely to be back and see everybody.”

Ian expressed, “It’s a mind trip, you know. When I was sitting looking at the big Forrester set, it was like stepping back in time, almost. It takes you back mentally, and you start remembering what it was like when you were here before.”

THE 411 ON TIA AND KALISTA

Speaking with TV Insider, about their soapy experience in Fairmont Crest, Tabitha Brown previewed about her host with the most, “Tia is very professional, but she’s a girl’s girl. She is a protector of women and wants to tell their stories in a beautiful way, but she also wants to make sure they’re seen in a very good light.”

However, Burruss previews that Kalista arrives with a score to settle. “She’s spicy,” shared the recording artist. “I always love playing somebody that has come to start trouble. It’s always fun to play a villain of sorts, but Kalista feels like she’s been done wrong and she’s hurt by what she feels has been done to her. So Kalista is stirring up trouble, but she feels justified putting Dani on blast. Kalista is ready for some payback.”

Beyond the Gates is produced by CBS Studios, as part of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Created by head writer Michele Val Jean, executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey.
