THE CHEW’s Mario Batali Exits The Daytime Series After Sexual Misconduct Allegations
84
He can sit home now and watch soaps. OH WAIT! He gleefully replaced “All My Children” with his show. Karma!
Does sound like he bit off more than he can Chew-lol
LOL!
That is great!
No matter what he has been accused of, he nor his co stars to amc away. I was furious it was taken of the air as well, but the blame is on the ptb on abc.
I resented his arrogant attitude when AMC was taken off the air.
I blame ABC of course, but Batali was gloating when it happened.
Dr Ruth, I feel the same way. I recall this man said something sarcastic and insulting about the soap his show was replacing. There were a lot of heartbroken AMC/OLTL fans and he basically said that it was no great loss that they were going the way of the dinosaur. It was insensitive to say the least. I admit I was biased against The Chew for the above mentioned reason but finally I have to a chance. But then I finally tried to watch it, and all of the hosts were annoying to me. Moreover, I found the recipes to… Read more »
All My Children went off the air because it was no longer watched by enough people, and it was costing too much money. This topic is too serious for such nonsense.
Sense of humor much? Apparently none at all.
This man was thrilled about soap fans losing their favorite soap (AMC). He thought it was time for something special, such as his silly cooking show, to replace our tired old soap.
KARMA!
That’s exactly what I was thinking! ABC replaced two iconic shows with this and now the’re paying for it! Karma’s a bitch!
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just dessert and i’ll be on my way
amid this – latest – mishap of power
let’s ADD in two more
1. “I want to see you naked”: When alcohol flowed, Mario Batali turned abusive, workers say
2. Celebrity chef Mario Batali ordered to pay $5.25 million for skimming tips from his restaurant help
I tip my hat at the person(s) who stand and be counted
Amen, Brother!
I am tired of 20 year old complaints. I think there is a huge difference between too flirty and harassment and / or assault. If he promised employees promotions or did not give them opportunities unless they gave him sexual favors , yes he should step away, if he forced himself on someone he should be arrested and prosecuted. If he said something about how great they looked then that is a discussion about what to say or not in the work place, not leave the job. A girl at my daughter’s work reported a guy because he said Hi,… Read more »
I agree with you , It started with a man in Hollywood that sexually attacked actors & actresses, then each day another one had a complaint about someone but few reported it or called the police now it’s every day someone is reporting sexual harassment either at the work place or train/plane/bus/taxi. It’s just sickening to listen to them. I believe a lot of them that report it right away or go to the police but these numb-scull’s that come out of the wood work about something that happened years ago but they never did anything about it, my answer… Read more »
I agree. It seems as though every women is a victim, and every man is a predator, nowadays. I think these 20, 30 year old accusations take away from those women that have been brutally, viciously attacked, and do not have a platform to stand on. We had our annual holiday party at work last week and a co-worker e-mailed me and told me how nice the evening was, and he also said, “BTW, you looked very nice last night.” I took that statement for what it was, a compliment, nothing more, nothing less. You can’t turn on the news… Read more »
You are right, these women who are looking to get in the news are hurting real victims. Also, women have made strides in the workplace, the trouble makers are hurting women who deserve major roles in business!
I am tired of idiots spouting off without bothering to take the time to figure out exactly what they are spouting off about. These are not 20 year-old complaints-he had been reprimanded at his company as recently as a couple of months ago. “this stuff” has always been out of control-only difference is people with half a brain are now listening and taking appropriate action. The daughter’s work story sounds contrived-just sayin’.
Another one accused and forced to step down/ away from his job…when does the predator in the big house have to leave??
It should never end @ Tired. It should go on as long as these filthy minded men end their depraved and perverted behavior persists . If these women too k their time to come out now, I think that they were afraid. As women, we have all been subjected to such behavior by men. Years ago, in my youth, it was not a big deal when men acted this way. It was one of those thing, especially because no one did anything about it. It was ‘accepted’ . Women kept it to themselves. Suggestive conversation is an assault. It need… Read more »
Francesca, thank you again for your insights.
I, for one, am NOT TIRED of 20-year-old complaints. I don’t care how long it takes someone to come forward. Perpetrators, whether they be a chef, actor, movie producer, senatorial candidate, or sitting president, should be held accountable.
No one should be subjected to sexual aggression/assault/intimidation, misogyny, bullying, homophobia, racism, etc. The world would be a better place if empathy were in overabundance…
#Jamesj75. Thank you, Jamesj. I will soon reach my senior age , in a few short years. I can tell you stories which will make your stomach turn. I would hear such hair raising stories from friends that sounded fabricated. But they did indeed happen. We can’t always blame modern technology or what programs on TV we are exposed to. This behavior has been going on since the beginning of time. I do think that both men and women are not as afraid exposing their experience and the culprit. It makes no difference who the pervert is. Look at the… Read more »
I agree. The complaints are 20ys old. And he did what he had to do afterwards. And when The Chew replaced AMC I was upset, and refused to give the show a chance. But over the years I have enjoyed the show. So this Karma BS is just BS.
“I am tired of 20 year old complaints”. Why would a person be tired of something like that? Is it too many complaints for people to comprehend? How exactly is it tiring? If people feel more free NOW to express what happened to them, why would that bother anyone? They should ALL come out.
Sorry, Tired, That story with your daughter doesn’t quite jive with reality. I seriously doubt a man got in trouble for saying “Hi” to a woman.
Things are a bit insane, women are finally speaking up and I hope common sense and the ability to engage in critical thinking makes a come back in our society. We need to believe the women who step forward but at the some time, due process and not declaring someone guilty in the Court of Twitter should be the rule, not the exception.
balance of Power – shifting in men being more amenable to ALL the qualities of being a woman ARE the GOP having a field day with this ? Many of the allegations i can believe but many others i cannot…one i read about someone who sent flowers-why is that sexual harassment…
Anthony Boudain or whatever his name is, is such a hypocrite blasting another over sex allegations but when it comes to his friend here call it a sad day…cant stand AB!
I agree, I can’t stand Anthony Bourdain and his hypocrisy.
This would be a great opportunity to bring back All My Children to all the fans who had it taken away!
Good hopefully the show will flop now, oh wait it’s already a flop #thespew!
Honestly i feel like people are just saying these kind of stuff lately there’s to much of it in the news the past year. Why bring it up now and not when it happen?
this snowball… is never going to let up equality – between – the sexes Men and Women alike I say I’m all for it… if this gets ALL women to think about their lot in life their due process… their wants and needs fulfilled… PUT MEN ON NOTICE PUT MEN IN THE FIRE PUT MEN in their rightful place ? I have kept my word about never watching The Chew since it replaced AMC and OLTL. I hate the show, the hosts, and hate that I usually flip over to watch GH and still see the last minute of the show. I suppose it is ridiculous, but I did invest 40 years in those 2 cancelled shows. Batali is gross and disgusting.
Gross and disgusting is a kind description, Phyllis! Quite frankly, I always found this reptilian creature to be oily, off-putting and highly-unappetizing….I could not imagine wanting to dine upon anything he prepared! Plus, how could anyone take seriously or trust a grown man who walks around in shorts and orange crocs???
I’m glad he has taken blame for his actions instead of denying the as our politicians have by victim shaming and blaming. I hope they find a good replacement for him on The Chew – I miss Daphne Oz and now another original cast member is gone. I hope they don’t cancel the show. I really enjoy it.
@Daisy Day….I agree about Daphne Oz! She was such an adorable addition to the show, so fun and fresh….really the only one that I even liked in the line-up! But I certainly respect and understand her decision to leave “The Chew” to focus her efforts as mother to her ever-expanding family….her newest daughter is a truly beautiful bundle of joy!
I think he is a sick individual. This isnt the first time accusations have been brought against him. Not counting the unlawful violation of pay back awhile ago at his restaurants.
YES!!! Finally being held accountable for something.
fact.. My relations are business people and I have been told ; At a larage meeting/gathering of business people, perhaps a convention thing , not sure. Personal talk was…. They are not going to hire women because they are now considered a liability for lawsuits. was said– if you accidentally bump one or make a comment taken wrong, just one wrong unintentional move , something taken wrong that their weapon is to make an sexual harassment accusation and it only takes one to destroy your business and family. I guess they are worried of hiring women and when a man… Read more »
Suoooo, there is s remedy for that. We live in an age of sophisticated technology. We have cell phones with recording devices. Micro recorders is an option, too.
Not hiring women for that would be discriminating against women. Are we going backwards?
The Women’s Rights Society would be all over them lol.
There is truth in all the above comments, though. It could get pretty out of hand if a woman has a grudge against a man she dislikes or has hurt her in some way.
It is a fact that manipulating, spiteful women do exist.
Hi, Francesca Bruno.. it seems it’s all ready ”out of hand” The New Yorker has let go of its star reporter Ryan Lizza, and by allegations of sexual ”misconduct’ .. Ryan said he is saddened that the New Yorker decided to characterize a respectful relationship with a woman he dated as inappropriate,, And!!! the New Yorker was unable to cite any policy was violated.. get that! And!!! his Georgetown University classes he thought, they fired him as did the New Yorker and as did CNN ONE acusation of Misconduct from a girlfriend distroyed the man.. No questions asked, no investagation,… Read more »
That is so very unfortunate @suoooo. In all the fray of accusing this one and that, innocent people pay the price, you are right. It is a shame it had come to this. What is the solution? Both men and women are sexually harassed or the perpetrators just help themselves to what is not freely given. I t makes no difference if a person says no!! All because of the scum ( pardon the word) that is out there. At the same time, I was happy the atrocities committed against women are in the open. I am speaking from the… Read more »

There will never be equality in the true sense of the word, @Patrick. The word is often used too loosely. The world may revolve through the ages, but there will always be that gap between men and women, between races, between religions and so forth. I said before that as an immigrant, this country was good to us, meaning giving us a good live as the ‘land of plenty’. I was 14 when I came, many moons ago, and gratefully I or my family, never encountered any negativity. Sacrificial lambs. Oh, yes. They are among us, Patrick, as much as… Read more »
What is inappropriate? I have seen Mario hug female guests tightly, and it was a little long for me, but they were friends. Not inappropriate though. I’d have to hear what they are calling inappropriate to judge. I agree with you.
Here is what is pissing me off when it comes to #Me Too. David Cassidy, God rest his soul, isnt even cold yet and 80’s pop “Star” Samantha Fox, who conveniently has a book coming out ALL OF THE SUDDEN accuses him of being a pig! She is making sexual accusations against him. Samantha, he is DEAD! Why did you wait until now? Oh yeah thats right, because you wanted to sell books and piss all over his legacy! Rape is inexcusable. However, ladies, if someone grabs your ass and you are offended and you wait to tell about it… Read more »
THANK YOU TIM…..YOU SAID IT ALL!!!
I couldn’t have said it better myself Timmm.
Tim…THANK YOU!!!!! As far as I’m concerned, NO ONE in their right mind would buy Samantha Fox’s book. I know I wouldn’t. Nope.
Happy Holidays, Tim.
So it’s OK if you act like a gross pig as long as you’re a singer or teenybopper.
People always, always, always, always give themselves away when they say “it’s wrong….however…but….” ALWAYS.
Absolutely, Timmmbo!!! I find many of these recent claims put out there about certain famous males mighty dubious…especially when a book, lucrative lawsuit or political contest is involved!!!! The women who for me have the most credence to their assertions are those who are actually in the position to lose—not gain—something, yet still have the courage to step forward anyway…like many of the Weinstein and Clinton victims who suffered far more than just a momentary tasteless incident of “Roman hands and Russian fingers” from those longtime predators! As for Samantha Fox, she had ample time to tell her tawdry tale… Read more »

Oh trust me, they will be….. eventually!
And those hideous orange crocs, too!!! (All 500 pairs, or however many he had bought up….)
Don’t throw shoes at me, but– Unwanted kiss as sexual harassment; When a woman is kissed, not wanting it, IF she would have stood strong and told the man == never kiss a woman without their wanting to be kissed and then give him a word Beatdown, telling him how horrible and disgusting he is and really give it to him then he might have never unwantedly kissed other women.. By not standing strong and letting him know how an unwanted kiss is a sexual invasion he might not have been kissing other women believing it was ok to do..… Read more »
It stunts the mindset
if women are for procreation only
women were withheld from VOTING
women were to be spoken to
women were stay at home
women had the best ankles
women started magnifying their BEAUTY
women thought all along the way
how will we get past – all – this
equal pay and CHARGE
that’s a lot of partay understand
“…we learned to stand! ”
where have you not ?
I will throw in the lauded African American
I will throw in the LGBT
so much color to mix
feast salute and onward – PLUS Alabama !!!!
They should cancel the whole show. Never liked it never will! Never watched this silliness and all the time they’ve been on!. They should hang up their pots and pans . And call it a day!! Arrivederci to the chew bucket..,.
CANCEL The Chew it stinks anyway –
– and bring back ALL MY CHILDREN and watch the afternoon ratings go up
at ABC-TV ~
Wow, sad for everyone involved.
At least he admitted it was probably true and did not call those women liars.
Now, this is going to sound terrible, but I just assumed Mario was gay. When I saw the headline I figured the accusers were going to be male. not female.
I guess I put him in Kevin Spacey’s camp.
But it’s important to point out that men are also victims of sexual harassment on the work force and the culprit can be of either gender.
🙂
I’m wondering Batala took responsibility for his actions because he might be hoping that he can recover this scandal in time and people will forget about this and move onto something esle.So Batala might have known if he fought these allegations it would stay in the public eye.
That’s a sensible deduction, Andrew…..he, also, could have thought it would be a losing battle? So, he came clean? Well, now…..that’s an understatement and fitting pun, LOL. Perhaps, as is always the case, there’s more to it than what the public is told. Yuck!!!!! He’s so gross. I have never had a ‘groping’ situation, personally, ( came pretty close)….but, I have been the recipient of lewd remarks; some subtle, some very, in-your-face audacious ……it is the most humiliating and demorilizing feeling —any girl, woman, boy, or man who’s been in this situation can confirm that. It still goes on—horrible catcall….… Read more »
Its good to be recognized as being “Pretty”, “Hot”, “Sexy”, what have you but to approach a women with sexual suggestions and certainly any touching is inexcusable! Its cowardly!
@CeeCee….Whilst I think we all have our little battle stories with overly-frisky and/or verbally-demonstrative dudes, I can honestly say that I’ve never suffered any major incidents in my educational or business life that I would term all-out sexual harassment, and I have to be honest, I think it’s because of my attitude and the way I carry myself….I’ve always been very much the “butter won’t melt type,” comported myself like a total lady and dressed very professionally, albeit fashionably, with great modesty! (Think Sam’s stunningly simple black turtleneck and pencil skirt ensemble she wore today….it was beautiful and alluring, yet… Read more »
If he was innocent and not guilt of additional allegations, he would never have been fired or asked to leave the show. Most of these being accused know it is true.
The one that pisses me off is the LIES that NBC told the morning Matt Lauer was fired. I have read for years all of the stories a;d “rumors” about him, yet NBC knew nothing until the night before. You do not fire your biggest star from a show that makes you hundreds of millions unless you have a lot of ammunition.
The list: Celebrities accused of sexual misconduct Entertainment; Celebrity chef Mario Batali: Stepeed down from daily operations at his restaurant empire following reports of sexual misconduct over a period of at least 20 years. Celebrity chef John Besh: Accused by 25 women of sexual harassment. He has stepped down from the company he founded. Singer Nick Carter: Accused by pop singer Melissa Schuman of raping her approximately 15 years ago. Carter has denied her allegations. Comedian Louis C.K.: Accused by five women of sexual misconduct. Planned release of film “I Love You, Daddy” halted. Netflix special canceled. He says the… Read more »
Rep. Dan Johnson, a Republican, reportedly shot and killed himself on a bridge in Mt. Washington, Ky.
Johnson denied the allegations on Tuesday, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. He said the accuser was a member of his church, and that the claims were, in part, politically motivated.

LOL…. you sure are well informed, SuzieQ…… I only have some spare time for Mr. Fairman……I get more news here than anywhere else. So, thanks, su….
It’s about time…and it doesn’t matter how long the time…20 minutes or 20 years…that women (and men) come forward. The problem as to why some don’t tell their experiences sooner is somewhat exemplified here with the few who doubt the accusers; who seem to be placing blame on them and defending the accused. And while some might argue that it’s her/his word vs the accused then why attack the alleged victim? And isn’t it obvious that if a number of women are accusing the same person (in some instances, say…Trump or Bill Cosby) that there’s probably truth in their claims?… Read more »
Oh, yeah…Bill Cosby. He’d been carrying on way too long and got away with it.
Note;
What ever Al Franken has done there is one he has not done!T
The woman that accused him of ‘groping’ her did not happen.
She was wearing a ‘protective’ vest..
I have wore that vest– you can Not grab/grope a boob thought it, impossible.
A person can not even touch a boob through that vest.
I’m quite sure Al Knew that (as did she)..
Al was a comedian doing a dumbass thing, pretending to grope/whatever to get a jackass funny picture, but he could not touch or grope a boob of someone wearing that protective vest.
just saying …
And what of the similar photos showing that serial groper doing the exact same thing to Joy(less) Behar and Arianna Huffington???? I don’t believe they were wearing flak vests at the time….hence there was nothing to come between their bosoms and Franken’s grubby digits!
I said;
”Whatever Al Franken has done there is one he has not done”
key word- one.
I’d like to be accused of being a witch
all this hunting…
Mario will be missed “as a chef”. Sorry to see that go, but The Chew did the right thing by letting him go. I’m beginning to wonder if there will be any men left on TV soon?
Or in any other positions of power, Judith! Ever think maybe that’s the insidious method to this “#MeToo” madness???? It’s fine to bring down actual predators whose antics can be documented and corroborated in a manner that satisfies legal standards, but what of those who are not guilty of what they are being accused via scurrilous “she said” memes—some of which are obviously being bought and paid for??? It’s undeniable that certain individuals have been and are still being targeted simply because some people don’t want them to be able to achieve in individual endeavors or continue in their current… Read more »
