Days Of Our Lives

The Kristian Alfonso Interview – Days of our Lives

© JPI Studios

In recent months on Days of our Lives, Hope Williams Brady had been losing everything near and dear to her, and for the moment, life, as she has known it simply does not exist.   First, after nearly losing the life of another one of her children to a kidnapper, the strain in her 25-year marriage to Bo Brady began to crack.  Next, enter the return of one of Bo’s other great loves, Dr. Carly Manning, and then things really took a nosedive.  Between the jealousy, the angst, and more Hope and Bo broke up, and Carly moved into Bo’s life again.  Then came the loss of two key members of the Horton family, Uncle Mickey and then last month on-air, Hope’s beloved Grandmother, Alice.  It’s enough to make any one pill-pop, wouldn’t you say?  Except there is just one thing… something strange is happening to Hope when she takes her sleeping pills.  She becomes this empowered and embittered female wanting to exact revenge on the men of Salem.

Days of our Lives long time veteran, Kristian Alfonso (Hope) chatted with On-Air On-Soaps about her current intriguing storyline, that over the next few weeks is going to unravel more and more, as certain someone’s are going to begin to figure out that something is seriously oft-kilter with Hope.  Alfonso also reveals the sadness and the emotional toll the passing of Frances Reid (Alice) took on her and her cast mates in the on-air memorial services for Mrs. H, but also at the real life memorial attended by her and the entire DAYS family, just a few months prior.

And now, what will become of beloved legendary soap supercouple Bo and Hope?  Between pills, Carly, and deaths in the family, are these long time sweethearts broken up for good?  Read Kristian’s thoughts as she weighs in on this matter, and many more.

MICHAEL:

Kristian, I want to go back to a few weeks ago on the air shows of Alice Horton’s memorial service, and the scenes leading up to that with the characters in Salem learning of her passing, and how key a relationship Hope had with her Grandma, and how devastated Hope was.  How tough was it for you and the cast to perform scenes surrounding Frances Reid’s passing?

KRISTIAN:

© JPI Studios

It was very tough.  When I found out about Frances, who I just so loved and adored, I was actually at the Pharmacy and I got a call from work, and I said, “Oh, it must be script changes or something.”  And then I get the news, and seriously, everything just fell out of my hands.  It was so sad and devastating.  Frances was such an amazing woman and working with her taught me so much.  It was such a joy to work with her.  She really was like a grandmother to me in so many ways, and a friend, and so lovely.  Working with Frances wasn’t work, because when Hope had to speak to Alice, I really was doe-eyed listening to her.  And her eyes without saying many words, told so many stories and expressed so many words that were not even there or written, and it was just so easy.

MICHAEL:

You had a significant moment that meant so much to long time viewers of DAYS, when at the end of the funeral episodes you went into the living room at the Horton house, looked around, and turned off the lights.  How amazing was that to be given that honor, or was it just beyond sad for you?

KRISTIAN:

Amazingly sad.  It was just disbelief for me, because it was the end of something so grand.  When I walked into that room, and even when the scene that had aired with Bo the week before that, and I had not been in that set for so long, but I could just feel her.  I felt such a sense of sadness in my heart and remembering so many memories.  I was a teenager when I started on Days of our Lives. And I remember my screen test was on that set, walking in and yelling up the stairs, “Julie, I am here.”  That is where it all first started, and touching the furniture and feeling it, and looking over always to the chair where she sat symbolized so much. We would always use her table for all our goodies and desserts and candies, and whatever else I would bring to the set.  We miss her so much, and reliving the loss was painful.  At one point we were on a five-minute break, and no one left the set.  And after the memorial we were all looking at the photos books going, “Oh, Missy (Jennifer), remember this?   Pete (Bo), oh my gosh, remember this?”  And Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) and Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes, (Doug and Julie) and on and on, had so many memories and so much to share.  It was so wonderful seeing everyone back, but sad that it was for this particular reason.

MICHAEL:

The memorial was a five hankie moment. The entire cast was beyond choked up in the episode, and there were plenty of real tears.

KRISTIAN:

© JPI Studios

You know even Ciara cried!  DAYS executive producer, Ken Corday came up to me on a break and said, “Oh, my God. You made little Lauren Boles (Ciara) cry with your eulogy to Alice.”

MICHAEL:

So, was that the last time we will ever see the Horton house?

KRISTIAN:

That is something I cannot answer.

MICHAEL:

When you left the Horton set, were you Ok?

KRISTIAN:

It was very difficult, and yes, beyond sad.

MICHAEL:

I remember being with you, and all the other long time and current cast members of DAYS, at Frances Reid’s real memorial service at NBC that Ken Corday gave.  This was another very tough day.

KRISTIAN:

Frances was pivotal in all of our stories.  I chose to not to communicate with Frances’ family before the memorial, because I knew once I started talking to her niece, April, that I would start to fall apart.  After it was finished, we looked at each other and fell apart full of tears.  Then I felt a hand in my back and it was Ken Corday.  Ken and I looked at each other and then we started crying.  Frances meant so much to us and brought so much to our lives…professionally, and most important, personally.

MICHAEL:

Hope lost her Uncle Mickey, and now her Grandma, and she is losing her grip!  Her life with Bo is seemingly ruined.  And, she had been pill-popping and whacking men on the head with a gun.  At least she took a break there for a while, during Alice’s passing.

KRISTIAN:

She stopped taking her sleeping pills there for awhile.  But the reason she started taking her sleeping pills was being under so much pressure and feeling so much angst with the way her life had spiraled out of control, trying to hold onto the reins as long as she could.  She wasn’t sleeping, as I am sure you have found yourself lying in bed, and I know I have, having your brain go from one thing to the other thing to another thing.  Going, “Stop, Stop.  I need to go to sleep.” And then you remember something, and you get a lump in your throat.  Then you go, “Oh, my gosh. I have got to take care of that, or do that.”  That is where Hope was and the tragedy of what was taking place in her life, and that was that she almost lost her child.  She almost lost Ciara in the kidnapping, and a lot of this also comes from when she lost her child, Zack.  It was happening again to her, plus the destruction of her marriage to Bo.  Also, everything that had taken place with Zack was never really resolved.  And now this is happening again, and Hope was thinking, “I cannot lose another child.  Just give the kidnapper the house. Give him everything.  Just give them what they want.”  And Bo said, “No.” We looked at things differently in this situation.  Hope was coming from a parent’s point of view, and he was coming from the detective point of view.  Hope is like, “Oh, my God.  If you had given him the money, these two other people would not have been killed.  The kidnapper killed his own girlfriend, and the girlfriends’ brother, and then all of a sudden he is in our house!”  Now, Hope and her daughter are being held hostage, and he is trying to kill both of them.  It was one thing after another, and things started to spin out of control.  The trust was broken and it was like, “Ok. Ciara is home.  Well, you can’t just wipe away everything that has just taken place.  And not that it’s just taken place in our home, which was our solace, it’s now our daughter who is waking up crying every night.”  So, Hope felt she needed to leave the house, not leave the marriage and the relationship, but take a break, and Bo took it as something else.  With the destruction and the spiraling, she needed time to think and to process and heal, and help her daughter heal. There were emotions that ran deep.

MICHAEL:

And then Carly entered into the mix!

KRISTIAN:

Then Carly shows up knowing that Hope is married, and next thing Hope knows, Bo is kissing her.   Then it’s, “What? You are sleeping with her… in my bed?”  That also is a slap in the face to Hope. “And don’t the 25 years we have had together mean anything to you?” And then she comes to find out this was the woman that Bo was engaged to, but Carly, at that point, ended up leaving Bo because she chose money over love!

MICHAEL:

© JPI Studios

But Hope’s sleeping pills are causing her to have this alternate personality, who’s actually now a wanted criminal!

KRISTIAN:

She started taking the pills because she couldn’t sleep, and she wanted to be there for her daughter.  And she wanted to be able to function as a detective, because this attacker was on the loose and attacking prominent men in Salem.  Hope wanted to put an end to it.

MICHAEL:

This is really as you and head writer, Dena Higley, have stated in other interviews about female empowerment, and Hope needing to feel in control of something… right?

KRISTIAN:

She went after men who had done something crooked.  She went after Brady because he stayed loyal to Nicole.  But as I investigated, there was a reason people do have these adverse effects from sleeping pill.  They do get up and do things, and for some you can actually have a conversation with them, and there is no memory or recollection of the conversation the next day, which is so frightening!  There is a report on the news of this gentleman whose bank account was depleting.  He was taking sleeping pills, but what he was actually doing was going to a casino every night, and they caught him on the casino camera.  He would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that there was no way he could have been doing this.  But the reason that Hope decided to not take her pills for awhile was that she found out that Alice was at the end of her life, and she did not want to miss a moment.  She wanted to be the best that she can be, and that meant she wanted to be on her toes and on point.

MICHAEL:

So now she had slid back into the popping again, and it’s only looking to escalate!

KRISTIAN:

Then she is so exhausted.  So she did fall back and take the pills again, and what is so ironic is that people who are sleep walking actually get a good night’s sleep, believe it or not.  It was so funny.  When I started telling people that I was doing this story, they would tell me, “Oh, my God.  I know someone who would get up in the middle of the night and would play the banjo, and eating, and going out.”

© JPI Studios

MICHAEL:

Would you have preferred if the power-that-be at DAYS chose to do this as a true multiple personality storyline, or Dissocialize Identity Disorder alter-ego, instead of Hope’s erratic behavior coming from a pill popping thing or an abuse thereof?

KRISTIAN:

I loved what they have written, because it gives you the opportunity to see the vulnerability within her, and trying to understand where she is coming from.  She is this very hurt and broken woman who takes on this persona of strength, but in reality she is actually very broken.  She needs a little anger management here, but imagine going through what this woman has gone through, and then finding another woman sleeping not in the guest room, but on the side of the bed you sleep on!  She is trying to process what Bo had done, thinking, “Wait a minute, you just said this woman is on the run and in danger, and now you want our daughter to come visit you, and now you are sleeping with her!”  So the layers of this just kept mounting and mounting, and of course with Carly, there are no apologies.  She does not resent being in love with Bo.  She had a love with Bo.  But, Hope also feels there must have been an agenda, because Carly brought a few things back with her as well, so they can reminisce about their past.

MICHAEL:

Do you have any issues that this storyline with Carly and Bo is a real serious threat to Hope and Bo’s long and storied past?  Do you have any issue with this being a triangle?

KRISTIAN:

No, I have no problem with it whatsoever.  It’s another challenge and another story.  I have never done this, and this is a story I have never played. This is really refreshing and a road I have never traveled before.  I think the writers have done a really exceptional job.

MICHAEL:

© JPI Studios

How is working with Crystal Chappell (Carly)?

KRISTIAN:

Working with Crystal is great!  I did not work with her back in the 90’s, so it was completely new.

MICHAEL:

Do you think we will see a catfight down the line?

KRISTIAN:

I think they have had a few already, haven’t they?  I am sure there will be more!  By the way, it’s not so much that Hope is so infuriated with Carly; it’s that she is
mad at Bo for opening the door, and that he was being so disrespectful to Hope.

MICHAEL:

How is working with John Callahan (Dr. Baker)?

KRISTIAN:

He is such a great guy, and what is interesting is John would be a great director. He gives great notes. Working with him has been great.  He loves to work hard and make it the best we can.  I love that he will say, “Hey, what do you think about this?”  He is dealing with two crazy broads, Nicole and Hope! (Laughs) But Baker has a soft spot for Hope. It’s kind of nice.  I like how they have written their scenes, because at first he was demanding that she do this and that. Then he realizes that Hope is really hurting, and then he softens up.  She touches something inside of him, also.

MICHAEL:

So with this new wrinkle and twist in the history of Hope storylines, does the Princess Gina still remain one of your all-time favorites?

KRISTIAN:

Princess Gina was a phenomenal storyline.  I got to play great characters with prosthetics, wigs, and played so many different personalities.  What I loved about it was I got to work with so many different people.

© JPI Studios

MICHAEL:

Does this new storyline remind you of that?

KRISTIAN:

To be honest with you, every storyline I have been involved in I have really loved, because they have all been so completely different.  I mean, if you think of the way they have rolled them into another story, and expanded on them.  I get excited to know where the scripts are going to take me.  I would say the Princess Gina storyline was the hardest I have ever worked.  I did not know if I was coming or going, because I was playing the characters opposite of each other.  There was Hope, there was Princess Gina, and then Princess Gina as Hope, and then Hope as Princess Gina.  So one character would know one thing, and the other character would know another thing.  I would have to remember where I was at, and it was really something. The way the writers have always written things were one story maneuvered itself into another, I can really appreciate that.  This story they must have thought about a year ago, because that is when the kidnapping started.  So kudos to the writers!

MICHAEL:

How is Wally Kurth (Justin) to work with now that he is in Hope’s romantic sphere?  Will Justin and Hope become a bonafide couple at some point?

KRISTIAN:

First, it’s been great working with Wally.  The thing with Hope is, she had never loved another man other than Bo.  She has always stayed loyal to her feelings.  And, she has always trusted that.  Then Bo would say, or Carly would throw in Hope’s face, “Well, you slept with Patrick!”  Well, hold on a second.  You don’t know the dynamic of that? Hope found Bo in bed with Billie, the night they buried her son.  Hope took off for an island, and who knew Patrick would be showing up there.  Next thing she knows, she gets a message from Bo that Bo is asking for a divorce.  It was not exactly like, “Oh Patrick, you are here.  Oh, how wonderful.”  It’s not like Hope always turns to a man and jumps into bed with him.  She may turn to a man as a friend and talk, but she is usually honest with her feelings, and up to this point, she has been with Justin telling him this isn’t going to happen.  She loves Justin and she has feelings for him, but her heart and her soul is with Bo.  There is 25 years of history with Bo and Hope.

MICHAEL:

Then, for Bo and Hope fans, do you think there is still hope for their all-time favorite super couple?

KRISTIAN:

© JPI Studios

I don’t think that after everything that has taken place, that they can just throw them back together.  I think Bo still loves Hope.  Oh, absolutely, I think he does!  And undeniably, Hope, as angry and devastated as she is at him, and really broken, she still loves him.  She can’t erase that from her heart.  She knows they shared so much, and Alice was one relationship they shared together.  Bo’s relationship with Carly years ago, after Bo thought Hope was dead, plays into this, too.  I am sure there are a lot of things Bo is angry with Hope about.

MICHAEL:

Well, they have driven a mighty big wedge between Bo and Hope.  Do you really think it will take a good deal of soap opera time for them to recover?

KRISTIAN:

It could, but you know as they say, time heals all wounds.  I think they have a long road. And initially here, Hope did not turn around and jump right away into bed with Justin.

MICHAEL:

Your jewelry line Hope, Faith and Miracles, what is happening with that?

KRISTIAN:

My jewelry line is doing very well. You can still find it at www.hopefaithmiracles.com. Of course, there are a lot of actors on the show that wear the jewelry, as well.  Alison Sweeney (Sami) has been so incredibly supportive, and Judi Evans (Adrienne) has been so supportive, too.  Peter keeps asking me, “When are you going to start making jewelry for men?” (Laughs)  Jewelry is forever.  You can grow out of the style of the clothes you are wearing for a particular season, but jewelry is forever.

MICHAEL:

You wear your jewelry in every single scene of Hope’s.  Do the directors ever tell you, “Kristian that is way too much accessorizing today?  Please take some of that off?”

© JPI Studios

KRISTIAN:

It’s always my jewelry in a scene, but it’s really her character, which is why she wears it. Hope comes from a lot of money and always tries to dress appropriately.  I would accessorize Hope according to what the scenes are.  She always has her jewels on.  So no, that has not been happening with the directors.

MICHAEL:

In closing, the next couple weeks are going to be pivotal in the ongoing pill popping saga of Hope and her, shall we say, anger issues with men.  Wouldn’t you say?

KRISTIAN:

You will have to stay tuned.  Let’s just say the last two weeks in July is a very busy time for Hope.  Certain people better watch their backs, if you know what I mean.  As far as Hope/Bo/Carly, I don’t know what is going to happen with that.  But, they found a way to really break Bo and Hope up, which is not easy to do!

A great interview Michael, thank you!!!

*shakes head* Carly didn’t choose money over love. She chose her son Nikki’s happiness over her love with Bo. Money had nothing to do with it. As for commenting on the other stuff, I’ll be good and keep my mouth shut. 🙂

Actually if you go back and watch the breakup scene you will see that Bo was saying that she wanted him to be something he wasn’t. It did imply that she chose to be with Lawrence because he was rich and powerful and her love for Bo just faded because he wasn’t who she wanted him to be. Nowhere in that scene did they talk about leaving with Lawrence just to be with Nikki.

Yes, Bo did say that, but she corrected him and told him he never had to be anything other than who he was.

I have been watching this show for about 4 years now and i know that if you love someone as deeply as hope does you should give that person a second chance. I know that bo has made some dad decision on his part but hope has always forgiving him for that and they should be together the show is boring without those two

You do just that Suzy- we all appreciate it…Great interview Michael! KA is the REAL DEAL!! She represents DOOL as it should be…Thank you KA for always giving your best to the show- YOUR FANS APPRECIATE IT!

It was an outstanding interview. She is and has always been such a classy representative for Days. She knows her character well and really sees things from her character’s point of view. we appreciate you so much. Thank you!

I think that carly coming back on the show was a dad ideal because of what she did to bo hope if carly hadn’t come back on the show bo and hope could of work out they problems.

KA … shocking interview. As for the comment someone made about Carly choosing money over love. No, Carly left to be with Nikki and Lawrence. I watched also. As hateful and controling as Lawrence was, he would have taken their son if Carly didn’t go with them. He would have deprived her just like Vivian did when she took Nikki as a child. Plus, she wanted Nikki to have a real Family life. The character of Hope doesn’t know the real reason why Carly and Bo didn’t get married. You may want to re-watch the last days of Carly Manning. But it had nothing to do with money. And prior to CC/ Carly leaving, Carly had been buried alive + having recovered from amnesia. Money over love is an excuse and a hoaxs.

With Carly 2.0 on almost everyday the last thing I want to do is to go back and re-watch 17 year old clips of her. Whatever the reason was back then, Dena Higley and the other writers had the character of Hope say that Carly left Bo for money months ago. This is probably what KA is referring to and since Carly in 2010 has only given her reason for leaving Bo as “Lawrence swept me off my feet and I loved him” . Nikki was never mentioned as her reason for leaving Bo which they seem to never want to discuss.

Well if you watch the scene when Hope says that Bo just shakes his head at her and rolls his eyes at hope at how ignorant she could be at spouting of something she knows nothing about. considering Carly (And Frankie) turned her back on the whole Von Leuchner fortune. Nope Lawrence’s MONEY is not what it has ever been about originally or in the rewrite, originally it was Nikki and in the re-write it was “swept of my feet” (also Hope had returned too). Certainly if KA was confused about why Bo was reacting like to Hope’s comment she could have asked Peter, Crystal, or Gary for background.

I love love love this interview! Thank you for interviewing Kristian – she’s an amazing actress and person! I truly appreciate her honest and candid interview and equally love how she is so gracious and full of compliments for her peers! It would behoove others to follow her classy lead.

In terms of her take on Bo & Hope I say SING IT SISTA’! You took the words out of my mouth.

I thank Kristian for all the years of entertainment she has provided her fans!!! Her dedication and loyalty to Days is admirable!

I would agree with you on that the only reason that i watch days of our lives is becaues of kirstian. kirstian will be deeply miss by all of her amazing fans and kirstian is my favorite actoress on the show.

Thank you Kristian Alfonso for being the embodiment of class and sophistication. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and look forward eagerly to not only Bo & Hope reuniting but the long journey it takes to get there. As a staunch lifelong fan of Bo & Hope it’s been disheartening to see them break up and Bo moved on quickly with his former fiancé’. However with the turn of the story of Day & Night Hope we are beginning to see the effects of several past experiences that have worn on this super couple and now the fallout will open the door for them to have to face issues that have been buried for years long before Carly Manning was ever a factor. I also enjoyed the comments about the wonderful late Frances Reid and I’m glad that your jewelry line continues to do well. Thank you Michael Fairman for an excellent interview.

What a great interview. Kristian Alfonso is a class act. DAYS is so lucky to have her be the face for the show. I’m so proud to be a fan of hers.

Omg I totally agree with you on that

Loved the interview :). Need to check out Kristen’s Jewelry. I’ve wondered how many of the actresses wear her jewelry.

Love ya Kristian! 🙂 Although I’m actually liking Carly&Bo (gulp!) I’m totally looking forward to a Bope reunion! I most definitely do not want them apart forever.

Great interview, quite informative:D

Fantastic Interview!! Kristian is the bomb!

I love kirstian she is the best actors on days

I’ve watched days my whole life and can’t wait to see what happens. I have loved Francis Reid and Donald McCarey. Keep up the good job!

I think this was a really great interview i like Kristian Alfonso as a person and as an actor,Although i have never met her she has a sensibility about her that flows..That’s why her storyline is not boring to me and ALL soaps tend to outrun the story line a bit its still worth watching! I do want Bo and Hope back together but there some issues that need to be resolved…Hope and Bo both made mistakes and are now paying for them,Hopefully soon Hope gets off the pills and they resolve the problems and they get back together!!!!

I have watched Days for many years and I must say that Kristian is one of the greatest actresses there is in daytime soaps and how lucky we are to have her at days. She displays poise beauty and talent that is so great for an actress. No matter the part. I hope that at the end of this great story line when she and Bo have dealt with their problems they will be together again. Loving the storyline and the acting.

days of our lives will not be the some without kirstian.

Totally agree with you on that

Fantastic interview I love KA and PR. As a long time watcher of DOOL in Australia, I have always loved the chemistry and relationship between Bo and Hope. I also love that KA/PR have visited here. Puts them up in the stratosphere of gracious and loved soap actors for me. I’m happy that KA and everyone else so loves the storyline but it WILL kill DOOL here in Australia. Annother BOPE break up especially for a character that no one remembers here. We never got the other soap CC was on here so I don’t believe she has the fanbase to cater to here. Everyone I know who watches Day’s either doesn’t remember Carly (CC) or hated CarBo version1. Collectively all have told me they won’t watch another BOPE breakup. I’m sure DOOL will survive in US but sadly for me it won’t survive here.

No matter what some fans say about the past of Hope and Bo, not all of us were watching some of those episodes in that time frame. So, it doesn’t really matter if the writer’s take license with the story at this point. They have reintroduced Carly and that should bring about another dynamic. They will have to get Hope to re-hab for her pill popping and then work her way back to Bo. So, let’s hope that happens in the near future. Carly will probably be on for quite a while, and maybe there will be another new guy for her. Time will answer all our quetions!…

Is there any way that Kristian be sued for defamation of Soap characters? I don’t appreciate Kristian telling me about Carly 1.0 because she wasn’t there.

then why read the interview… get a life and stop taking this makebelieve life so seriously… You sound completely stupid.

MMmmmm… I was kidding about getting sued ,duh.

Kristian could be just repeating what TPTB at DOOL want her to say (’cause we all know where this story is headed), or she doesn’t know her facts. Carly did not choose money over Bo.

it’s my understanding that the writers don’t “mingle” with the actors. Anyways, I like Kristian and I wanted to read what she had to say about her character, but also love Peter and Crystal. I learned my lesson, I’ll stick with the other cast members of Days. I have followed MF for long time and calling me stupid won’t tarnish me liking him.

I think that carly was wrong on what hope did by taking her daugther away bo that was right i would have done the some if someone cheatinged on me.

I just Love Kristian!! and her interviews.

Ruby- I cant believe your whining over a past storyline that was almost 20 years ago. Kristian was obviously just going by the dialog that the writers gave her character Hope to say to Carly a while go. I’m sure she didn’t mean anything by it. Gosh!
I also cant believe you think Kristian should be sued just for saying Carly chose money over love. That’s pathetic! Carly is a character.

KA certainly is opinionated, even though her facts are frequently wrong. Her “insight” into what is happening in Salem is so skewed and lopsided it’s hard to take seriously. Let’s just cut to the chase to say that this interview indicates that Hope is not the only one who would benefit from therapy.

Also,a narrative analysis of her responses (assuming the write-up can be taken at face value as the sum total of KA’s responses to a question) indicates that the brevity of her response to “how is it working with Crystal Chappell?” vs. how is it working with either John Callahan or Wally Kurth is quite telling. Dissembling much, Kristian?

OMG Spol! You are kidding? Are you actually challenging the factual background of Hope with the person who plays the character? Are you also suggesting that KA along with Hope needs therapy? I believe that many people request the services of a shrink when they can’t tell the difference between reality and make believe! Back me up Hope fans………….I think it was a great interview. KA, thank-you for taking the time out of your busy day to keep in touch with those who love you.

Not kidding. KA may portray the character but she has a real bias towards ignoring what she wants to ignore in what plays out onscreen and, hence, gets facts wrong. Believe what you want but many times the facts don’t support the spin KA puts on things. I don’t mean what happens with other characters. I’m talking about not even getting things right that happen in her scenes with her own character. This trait is just one of the reasons I wasn’t kidding about the therapy. I’ve read enough of her interviews over the years to see patterns in how she responds that would raise the eyebrow of any therapist.

I think it’s unwarranted to imply that Kristian doesn’t like Crystal due to a brief response to a question. Both actresses have commented they enjoy working together, and said how sweet each other are.

I’m surprised actors continue to give interviews when every single word they utter is scutinised and a fan or haters “spin” is put on it.

I find fans desire to pit Crystal and Krisitan against each other pitiful. They’re playing characters for goodness sake. Take a reality check.

As usual another great interview. thank you. Hope is a wonderful character, may she entertain us forever.

The interview was good enough, Micheal asked all the right questions but I don’t want to see Bo and Hope back together because they are boring. Nothing against the actors but their story has run its course. I Love Bo and Carly and I wish DOOL would explore their love much more for those fans who did not see their love story in the 90’s. I will definitely be tuning out if Days reunites Bo and Hope; what a snooze.

sorry you don’t like Bo and Hope. I am not that impressed with Bo and Carly, wasn’t the first time either but to each his own. tune out if you must pretty sure others will continue watching. my favorite couples are Stefano and Kate and EJami. Kristen is doing a great job as NT Hope, she was great when she did princess Gina. too.

I’m just beginning to like Carly better, but not with Bo. They just don’t go
together. Didn’t like them together years ago, either. I think they can find
someone else for Carly. What’s wrong with Bo and Hope just being married forever? Everything doesn’t have to be exciting – they just love each other.

great interview bo and hope are soulmates no matter what they go through they always find a way back together

I grew up watching Bo and Hope they were my alltime supercouple of the 1980’s.It is sort of shocking to see whats happened to to this couple in the last couple of years.Bo and Hope were always thought to be,inseparable.Hope has never really had another great love–Bo has *hint* Carly also Billie.I like Carly with Bo and I think that Carly and Bo have a good relationship but I can not see Carbo as being the endgame.I think that Bo and Hope will find a way back to eachother and when/if they do get back together I think that Hope should go a little easier on Bo and stop walking out on him.Hope has been a little too harsh with Bo in the last couple of years.I know she was concerned about her children but she should not run from Bo with the problems but work together with him through the problems, thats how Carly was able to come into her home and back into Bos’ life and heart in the first place.Thats why Bo finds it refreshing now to be with Carly because Carly is not harsh with him or judges him.It is shocking that Bo was able to move on so fast with Carly like that after loving Hope for 25 years. It is certain that Bo does love Carly so Hope has a good fight ahead of her if she wants Bo back.I do think that Bo and Hope will be back together in the end.

Great interview and it looks like Kristian Alfonso is a big Bope fan herself.*smile*

Im hoping for the something so are many of they fans are to. I love this show because its fan to watch but bo and hope should have a second chance of happeness in the end .hope should let bo come to see her in jail they need to work this out.

I think Bo and Hope are going to get back together–she is his family no matter what. They have kids together and a long history, much more then he and Carly.

I love Hope and Bo,they are like Sami and Lucas,Tom and Alice Maggie and Micky, they are Days Of Our Lives. Bring back Bo&Hope Sami&Lucas/BRD Joanne

It is clear that KA must have let her fanbase know that she has an interview on this page because it is flooded with KA fans, but I am objective Kristian Alfonso is an ok actress but I for one think Bo and Hope are a tired couple and that is why Days chose to break them up they where not bringing in ratings. DAYS has been on NBC’s chopping block for the past five years and only got a one year renewal for 2011. Days ratings spiked when Crystal Chappell came on the show like it or not Bo and Hope fans. If Days chooses to put Bo and Hope back together the snooze fest will be back on again and they will both go back to the backburner only appearing in weddings and parties. I would think all actors involved would like as much story as they can get no matter who they have to work with.

she has been on this show for 27 years,so we love her and BO

I agree with you on that i have been watching days for 4 years and i love bo hope. those have knew each other since they were kibs and that kind of love doesn’t go away that easy.

I have watched Days since it started. I hope they do reunite Bo & Hope. Bo & Hope are the ultimate couple. No matter what life has thrown at them, they always find their way back to each other. It makes us believe in happily ever after.

i miss the bo/hope old days…
anyone know how to find those pajamas in the “pill popping” picture that Hope was wearing in that scene?? I LOVE them!!! 🙂

Kristian i have been watching Days Of Our Lives since 1971, and i always loved the show. even when you and Bo hooked up. you two was always a great couple. I hope to see you and Bo back together soon. I hope Bo forgives you for your actions.

Bo and Hope
Lucas and Sami
Alice and Tom
Maggie and Micky
Jenn and Jack/Peter
John and all his wifes/Kate too
I miss all of them,,,,,

bo and hope will get back together you need to wait and see what happens on the show for the next show i want them to get back together as well but i will have to wait and see what happens on the show.

They are back together were have you been I’m a big fan of Peter and kirstian

This person must be the President of the Crystal Chappell fan club. Yes, we are Bo and Hope fans……obviously. What is even more obvious is that Crystal needs her fans to bash Bo and Hope so that maybe she can keep her job!

kristian has done a great job on the show. if kristian leaves days in 2011 we will know that kristian will be deeply missed by all of her fans and by all of her co-stars.I love kirstian to but if kirstian leave days in 2011 kirstian will have my full support on leaving days.

Thanks for the interview. It’s interesting how actors take their characters point of view. Kristen’s take on how Hope sees things.

I love all of the actors involved, Peter, Kristen and Crystal, and like the characters they portray.

I sure Lovvveedd this iterview with Beautiful Kristian, and sure HOPE she stays on DAYS and bring BO & Hope back together for ever!!

hugs<3
Willa S

come on guys let’s not get ridiculous, and bring hope n Bo back together

they should bring bo and hope back together.

Interesting interview. I hope Bo and HOpe get back together. I’m really tired of all this crappy stuff they have going on now. SEriously, the writers…..

I’ve noticed that Kristian is hosting an online chat tomorrow, Tuesday, November 9, at 2pmET/11amPT, so maybe we can get the chance to ask more questions that we still have…though I don’t know how much she can offer to say since she is mainly promoting the new Days anniverary book. http://www.daysinsider.com

Days of our Lives Star, Greg Vaughan, Gives Health Update and Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days of our Lives, ex-Lucky, GH, and ex-Diego, Y&R) provided an update on his health on Sunday, March 17th. Vaughan had previously shared that he had become ill during a trip with his sons to Colorado, and had developed altitude sickness when he was having trouble breathing accompanied by terrible headaches and landed in the urgent care.

Now on St. Patrick’s Day, Greg took to his Instagram and shared how he is feeling now, and to thank everyone for their love and support.  As it turned out, Vaughan was diagnosed with high altitude pulmonary edema, commonly known as HAPE. However, he is on the mend slowly and surely.

In his new video post, the DAYS favorite started by expressing, “I just felt such an appreciation and gratitude for everything. . reaching out. Your prayers have been felt. It’s been a struggle, but I’m over the top. And, taking this moment just to say I didn’t realize the things that I was going through. My (original) post was simply just to educate, put some information out there and some things that I was feeling, just share that information and the struggle that I was going through, which I didn’t quite understand. And it wasn’t because I’m stubborn or just because I’m a father, a man, and didn’t want to go to a doctor. It is just something I thought was so minor that I could overcome it, just by taking care of myself.”

The Daytime Emmy winner then revealed his actual diagnosis, “So, basically my situation was high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). With some good friends, doctors that had reached out to me, it kind of gave me some understanding on the aftermath, which was very, very beneficial.”

“But I’ve been resting, taking care of myself even though I live in a hamster wheel,” said the dad of three teenaged boys. “I gotta get up and, you know, do my normal domesticated stuff, eventually. I’m tired of laying down in this bed, but, I am feeling much better.”

Talking on his confusion of trying to understand what could have been ailing him, Vaughan expressed, “I couldn’t quite figure it out, even though I was emphasizing and professing to my children going on our spring break getaway about hydration. I professed it. But, even though I was acting on it, it had a greater effect on me, and for which I did not even think, because my head was such in pain, and I was in a very bad state of mind – not being able to be out there with my kids on the mountain, enjoying their time, as well. I thought I was doing the right thing. Unfortunately, my lungs were full of fluids and my head was in severe pain and even migraine pills didn’t even help. So, I just want anybody that goes into the Colorado Mountains to know, it is no joke. It is this very serious thing which I guess is why they call it the Mile High City.”

Greg had a mountain of ‘thank you’s’ to give for the outreach he received from his original post, “For everybody internationally, wherever you are, I love you and I appreciate you and just the time and the thoughts that you’ve shared with me,” said Vaughan. “I didn’t realize that it would make such an impression on so many people around the world. I feel tremendously loved and I can’t say it enough. I’m good. And I appreciate you.”

The actor concluded his video with, “To all the family and friends that have reached out to me, man, it means the world. So take care of yourself, enjoy your spring break with your families. It’s Saint Patty’s Day, obviously. I wish I could be out there.” Vaughan added, “I feel loved and touched and I can’t emphasize that enough. I’ll take better care of myself, promise you will do the same.” Before he signed off, Greg shared, “Just know, that I’m alive and well and breathing, and I’m sore. So, be well, take care. I mean it. Thank you, tremendously.”

Days of our Lives Star Greg Vaughan Shares Sudden Health Scare: “I Truly Feel Like I Work & Live in a Soap Opera!”

What started out as an adventure with his sons, quickly turned into a nightmare for Days of our Lives Daytime Emmy winner, Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady).

In a series of Instagram posts, Vaughan shared the sudden health crisis he found himself in.  The images show Greg with an oxygen tank to help him breathe.

The actor began to fill people, sharing, “I’ve said more than a few times, I truly feel like I work & live in a Soap Opera! 🤪 this trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!”

He went on to say that on a father and son Colorado spring break trip, he began to feel shortness of breath, feeling tired and with a headache and after two days of hoping he would feel better, Vaughan finally went to an Urgent Care to get checked out.

Photo: GVaughanIG

“I finally surrendered & went to urgent care and to my shock I learned that I was experiencing severe altitude sickness.” Vaughan admitted. “My Blood Oxygen was at 54% & my lungs were full of fluids! Blood oxygen, also known as oxygen saturation, represents the percentage of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that is carrying oxygen. Most people have an oxygen level of 95-100%….”

Providing more detail to his health scare, Greg shared, “Well, 4hrs later, a couple of bags of IV & oxygen tank strapped to my face, I was told that I needed to immediately get off the mountain! However I couldn’t, we still had another day to go & wanting the boys to enjoy their last day on the hill tops! I opted to go home with an oxygen tank, a good laugh for everyone, and I know will follow, but my boys looked after their old man & fortunately they had friends on this trip!”

The experience of altitude sickness in the Colorado Rockies gave Vaughan a bit of a new perspective, “In all seriousness, no matter your age, and all the times I’ve ⛷️ & 🏂 in my lifetime, Colorado Rockies is no joke! As they say, ‘ take a breathe and smell the roses!’ That is truly something we need to remember & appreciate! #recover”

Share your well-wishes to Greg as he continues to be on the mend via the comment section below.
