The NEW General Hospital Shorter Opening Title Sequence – Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?

By Michael Fairman

Published

on

On Monday’s episode of General Hospital viewers were given a shortened opening title sequence and in this version it featured only existing characters on the canvas (because so many in the long opening sequence are no longer with the series).  There was a new selection of theme music featured that to us harkened back to one of the short openings back in the shows sister soap days, Port Charles!

When watching the opening, the cast moves by the screen very quickly, that you actually have to watch one or two times to see who made it into the mix. In addition, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) had tweeted that the opening sequence will change daily – we presume with different characters and actors being featured and perhaps different musical beds.

So take a look at the new opening after the jump and let us know your thoughts! We know how important show openings are to true soap fans!

Thumbs down, I would have loved to have seen Faces of the Heart of Autumn Breeze back…

miss longer theme…gave it a chance

watching gh again after ten yrs

Thanks to the mannings!!!

Thumbs up…I’m pretty sure we got 8 segments rather than 7 and therefore more show.

ITA anyhow I also am happy with the changes made so far. We need ratings to survive and I want GH to survive after 45 yrs of watching.

I agree with you, Dawn. I also like the changes that former Head Writer of OLTL has done since he took over Robert Guza and Jill Phelps(Who I think did a PRETTY DAMN GOOD JOB as Head Writer and Executive Producer respectively before stepping down). He went to the biggest change in Soap Opera history by bringing 4 of the OUTSTANDING actors from One Life To Live to join(and heat things up) General Hospital. Now that tells you that GH isn’t going ANYWHERE!

That was really stupid!!! It didn’t even have any of the General Hospital music. My second favourite of all of the soap themes.

I like the opening. It really is not important to me in relationship to keeping GH on the air. If it is shortened by 1-2 minutes – that leaves more time for advertisement ($$) and story.

I don’t like the new sequence, especially the new music. I understand we have OLTLivers on the show now, but it is still General Hospital. This feels like a slap in my face. GH needs to keep it’s music. Just wrong on the part of ABC.

I agree about the music. The sequences seem so rushed but we know who everyone is so that is minor. But the theme is most important because it identifies with what GH is to us. “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”

Don’t see why you’re blaming THIS on OLTL’s cast. OLTL kept their full opening for the entire run, didn’t shorten it or change it at all. It has NOTHING to do with the few people that are migrating from OL.

hmmm, actually OLTL changed their opening many times…. every time another producer came around, or ABC was making changes. Many times, it was just an image of a sunset, flames, or sky or such. Later they did ones with moving images of streets, houses, a shot of a newsstand, then later with the actors faces, you can find these online if you’re curious. They changed the music too.

Read my post again. I am not BLAMING the OLTL cast at all, I said “… wrong on the part of ABC.” I miss my General Hospital theme and want it back.

I agree Carol. I’m getting tired of the OLTL characters getting blamed for everything that long-time GH viewers aren’t happy with. This is a change to try and help save this show from cancellation. If nothing was being done, they would complain about that saying, “No one cares or is trying to save the show.” To blame actors for the change in an opening sequence is just stupid. Have never been a GH fan, but I have been watching to try and support the show, but if the long-time fans aren’t going to be appreciative of the OLTL fans or the characters that have joined to help preserve this institution…..then why the hell am I watching? Maybe if they were to feel the loss that all of the AMC & OLTL fans have felt, they would change their tune….

I have to say that as of right now, I am not a fan
Of the new opening. If you are putting the Mannings
On the front burner they deserve to be in the opening
Sequence. Also, you omitted so many from it. Please go back
To the original music to. That is General Hospital.

4 out of 5 posted before mine…..say THUMBS DOWN, and I make 5.

Why fix it, if it ain’t broken? All they needed to do was take out cast member’s who are no longer on the show (and it’s a few of them) up to Kristina. After that, everything would of been just fine.

Please TAKE OUT OLD CAST, and GO BACK to the original format.

THUMBS DOWN!

I hope this is a work in progress. The whole opening sequence needs to be redone and making it whiplash fast doesn’t get past the bad video quality or cheesy local news anchor-style posing.

Couldn’t agree more Matt.

This was WAY too fast and I miss our GH music! Bring it back!

The faces go by so quickly!!!!!!!!! They don’t give you na chance to see the actors names that match up with the faces….It goes threw too fast for me.. I don’t like it at all !!!!!!!!!!!! At least when OLTL was on you could read the names with the face .. Different isn’t better!!!!!!!!!! Not in this case anyway…

This felt like “make the opening cheap and simple”. I’d rather they created a CG version of the opening used in the 80s compared to this. The last opening was okay, Faces of the Heart was better.

Thumbs down! I hope this was just a test to see how the fans would react.

Did anyone notice that GH went an extra 2 minutes?? So in reality, we are getting less opening credits, but more air time. I will take the air time.
Especially if the writing continues as it has.

That’s exactly right. Truncated opening means more story. Fine with me.

Ditto. Who cares about an opening?? Lets see such good story!! 🙂

Horrible. Faces of the Heart is General Hospital. This was disturbing and looked choppy, rushed, and unprofessional. I think that if they wanted something shorter, a well produced remake of the “Siren” opening from the 80’s would have been great. Also, why was the music bed different for the on air show compared to the SOAPnet version which aired at night?

I don’t like it either. I liked the jazzy, elevator type of music they had. It flowed.

Exactly!!!

Although I did not particularly care for the new music, I also don’t find it that important right now to complain about it. If the shortened sequence means more story and $$ from advertisers, then I’m all for it. I’m more concerned about GH improving storywise and hopefully staying on our tvs.

Thumbs DOWN!!! Especially if we do not get more show minutes to replace it.

Didn’t care for it. The music sounds like the news!!! I don’t mind it being shorter but I wish they would have kept the same theme music.

[email protected]

He is the person behind the scenes puling for GH.

Please don’t write him and ask him or suggest how to write. Let him know how good the show is getting.
TPTB have shown us this past month they know what they are doing. Though the scenes are not all that (yet) , with bringing back castmates, its about to Rock N Roll on GH!
They don’t need our help in writing. Just our support.

Debi I vehemently disagree. Brian Frons dictated story on all 3 ABC soaps for yrs and he thought he knew what he was doing and he destroyed all 3 shows. Ive been watching GH since 1969 and Im an expert in it’s history. I’m also a writer. As fans we have a write to comment on the quality of what is written for the show. After all it is written for us-the viewers.
If there are things we dont like we have a right to say so. Cartini have made many positive changers to the show-pacing,background music, etc. But they’ve also made mistakes as well. First up giving at least 2 OLTL actors contracts any only bringing back GH vets for short term cameos is a mistake. That’s not fare to longtime GH fans who miss their faves and dont watch OLTL.
The biggest mistake Cartini is making is bowing down to GH’s resident trinty-Maurice Bernard, Steve Burton and Kelly Monaco. The show is still the Sonny Corinthos hour. Robin Mattson is being brought back to prop up the lame Franco and Jason story. I love the OLTL actors and I admire Ron C’s writing style for the most part and his fast paced scripts.
But this is General Hospital not OLTL 2.0. And I’m sry but I dont believe that GH has to be propped up by OLTL stories and actors to survive. I could write stories that would increase GH’s ratings without borrowing any story lines from OLTL. Again as a former One Life viewer for many years I enjoy the cross over, but critically I still feel its neither fair to the GH viewers who didnt watch OLTL or necessary to save GH.

Wait..hold on here. I email GH at least once a week. Have been for years. I refuse to tell tptb how to write. Do you know how many emails, tweets, phone calls they get from people telling them what & how to write??
I am an expert on GH. I remember what worked in the past and what didn’t. Times have changed. Haven’t you noticed? Though the times have changed, the minds of the past didn’t change, thus making GH as well as OLTL unbelievable and silly to watch at times.
For entertainment, I watch present day stories. What I watch has to entertain me with good writing, producing, editing, & acting.
Ron & Frank understand this. So I can’t be alone with my thinking.
I was very sad Robert didn’t stay long enough for his daughters funeral!!
BAD BAD mistake. However the new writing staff wants to move on, and bring GH up to date, along with reminding new viewers and old viewers the greatness GH once was.
Am I tired of Sam? YES. Though I believe Mo is a great actor, the whole show revolves around him. Yep I am tired of that.
But I am not going to stop believing that the new people behind the scenes are going to do a better job at keeping this legend soap on air.

I really think, bringing 3 people from OLTL over is hardly turning GH into OLTL-2. Not by far. I happen to think Blair & Todd are assets to the show.
Starr-yea I can’t understsand why she was brought on.

This is my opinion of GH. You are certainly entitled to your opinion.
I don’t care if you are a writer or a cashier at the 7/11. We know what we like, and what entertains us. Different strokes……for different folks.
For now I say kudos to the scenes that were written yesterday with Edward. Looking at the mantel, naming everyone, giving a brief reminder of what GH was about was brilliant.

Here is to another 50 years of GH!

Starr (Kristen Alderson) was brought to GH because of her sterling acting skills as a young actress who grew up on OLTL. I started watching GH to see how the writers were going to handle Starr, Blair, Todd and McBain coming on board and they have handled it brilliantly. I’m going to stick with it and eventually catch on to the other storylines.

And, I agree with you, Debi. Write or email GH about your likes and dislikes. But telling them how to write…? I don’t think so.

Love it. Anything to keep the cost down.

Money commercials!! of course what ABC wants not the viewers. If it truly does rotate, that is fine, but bring the theme song back please!! if they are cutting this opening, then they should cut the openings of prime time shows!

I like it. The song is kind of ridiculous, but I’d rather less time for the credits since visually they’re so cheesy anyway. Way more interested in the episodes than the opening credits.

That said, it would have been cool if they used a bit of one of the older, very recognized pieces of music.

Thumbs down on the theme song, but I like the shorter intro. Did they lengthen the show or did it just seem that way? Since I DVR it, I noticed a different pattern of commercials but couldn’t tell if the actual show time was increased

I like the one that included all the contract players, thats what made it unique unlike Y&R which only include part of the cast. Go back to the original and for that matter, also include a “special guest star” for the returning vets who are essentially not on contract but guest starting on the show, i think they deserve that feature like they did for James Franco.

Thumbs down. Where is the identifiable (read branding) theme song? Where are the Quartermaines?

you know that Dave Koz song isn’t the original music… I remember when they changed the opening from the ambulance and hospital images and that dang siren sounding music. It took a while to get used to the Dave Koz music, but I liked the change in images. Then just got used to the music, so we’ll probably get used to whatever they change it to now… and it’s really not the opening that is important, it’s the rest of the hour!

Absolutely fantastic. Everything the Duo touch turns to gold. Salivating upon seeing my favorite Todd on screen again. The intensity of that man…

Thumbs in the middle? I didn’t like it yesterday, but I think it could be interesting if it changes everyday. My concern is that if it shows who’s going to be on that day in the opening, some people may change the channel because their faves aren’t on.

it’s impossible to put every character on the opening, and not fair to just have these 5-8 or so characters and never get to see others… and maybe the ones in the opening aren’t featured in a main story and the ones that are don’t get to be on the opening… i say give it a chance. I can’t see dumping a soap just cuz they change the opening.

Thumbs down.

They couldn’t get rid of Robin fast enough. They kept the other characters in the credits for a long time. When Robin died, It’s like she never existed.

ITA Susan! Just another insult to Robin a character that meant so much to MANY of us.

Cathy,

KMc and Robin were the only reason I stayed with GH for this long. Loved my Scorpio-Drake family scene. I’m highly upset that GH could’t wait to get rid of Robin so fast. GH has become unrecognizable and unbearable to watch without Robin.

I understand that KMc wanted to leave, but the storyline seems incomplete and too rushed.

I had such high hopes for FV & RC, now I just feel a huge sense of disappointment.

I want Starr gone, only visits from OLTL, no long term players. Only longterm I would like to see is Roxy over that the diner at GH. Everyone else, short stories. 6 weeks, to 3months. I would love the Story of the Two Todds to play out, thing is it just dawned on me , much of the cast of one life has to be present for it to be effective.

PS: What’s ITA?

It isn’t so much they couldn’t get rid of her fast enough, as the lack of storyline her death got.

It was a total insult as a viewer. Making Robin an aftermath in her own death. Who cares about Starr on OLTL, I don’t. This is GH and GH killed a legacy Robin and makes a mockery out of it.

Cathy, Robin isn’t dead. However, for now we are to believe she is.
How they played out her story was just plain sloppy.
Whoever heard of alarms going off in a hospital and nobody come running?
Skip to Luke/Holly/LIW. Then skip to Carly/Johnny. Never mind the night she died lasted 2 weeks.
Starr isn’t too blame. The writers were. Well, they are hopefully long gone.

Thumbs DOWN on this one Michael !! I did not like it at ALL !! Opening for me lifts me up & makes me feel good as a dedicated fan. I was really disappointed how they changed it.

don’t like it. would not mind if the shorter begining gave us moreof gh to watch it is bad enough that their is so many commercials that u get just about 30 minutes of actual watch time of gh

Sadly, opening sequences are passe in television. I am OK with that but I would have appreciated strains of a familiar GH theme in the presentation.

I am liking the changes in the wind blowing through Port Charles these days, and I hope the result will be a return to the show we loved with strong focus on legacy families and the hospital of the title.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!! MORE SHOW! Now, would you rather better writing or a long opening sequence???? I for one would prefer the writing over the opening ANY day! I am absolutely in LOVE with our new writing staff and producing team that I haven’t missed an episode in almost a month! That’s saying volumes b/c the last few months that Wolf was on, I would miss some shows and it would not bother me, but you can TOTALLY tell the difference in the writing and it is paying off BIG TIME! KUDOS TO RON and his staff!! Looking forward to more of you in the years to come for a loooooong time! Change is abound and inevitable, we need to embrace it and be proud that we’re still Alive and well! 🙂 <3 However, I do miss KM already! And JT is doing marvelously! I can go on forever but I won't, lol!

Lori~

I have watched GH since Luke and Laura were young. It was strange, but if it leads to more storyline that’s okay by me. Love seeing OLTL players on the show yesterday. Looks like it will be a real showdown between Sonny and Todd. Wondering how long they will keep this D.I.D. Kate thing going, hope not long it gets really stale.

Thumbs up.

GH’s theme was it’s signature. I LOATHE this new opening beyond comprehension. Whatever the reasoning behind it they could have done a nice spin on Autumn Breeze or Faces of the Heart. The new music literally sounds like a video game or cheap downloadable ring tone!!!! ARGH!!!!!! I almost couldn’t concentrate on the show yesterday because i just kept saying to myself, “Did they really do that to General Hospital?”

I have to say, as much as I love GH, especially over the past few weeks, I have to agree! It won’t stop me watching but it’s a real pity.

Can you say “budget saver”? Wonderful place to save money, without taking away anything from the actual show. Such a smart move, I’d rather a shortened opening that doesn’t matter then taking money away from the actual show. Smart thinking!

I understand that it was network mandated which makes sense they want more times for commercials. The music is weird though. Yesterday I found it jarring and it still sounds off to me this morning. If anyone thinks this is a OLTL thing, it’s NOT. You can go check all the OLTL openings for the past five years on youtube. This is an ABC thing. Also I heard on soapnet they used different music, the old night shift theme.

thumbs down, but question what happened to the original Maxie – heard she was off temporarily for Cancer Treatment. Jax gone for good?

Thumbs up. More advertising $ may equal more funding for GH to be on longer.

Thumbs up but who really cares about this? The show is awesome now. Thanks Ron and Frank.

I think Kristen Storms is gone for good and so is the character of Jax. They are going in another direction the previous writers kinda of ruined the character of Jax. The opening at least they updated and finally removed characters that were not there Y&R has not changed since 2001!!!!

I agree 100%. KS is done.
Unfortunately so is Jax.

The new opening is horrible. Just go back to the old one without using actors. If it wasn’t bad enough the new regime killed Robin with her death being an afterthough now they already removed her from opening when fans are having difficult time with Robin dying. Most wanted Robin to get her happy ending. Then new head writer already having Lucky’s ex Liz moving in and trying to take Robins place. Then Patrick can’t tell his daughter about her mother dying, he needed her help. Then yesterday Matt couldn’t see his brother because he was with Emma. Forgive me but what is she doing there in Robin house when Patrick wanted to be alone with Emma as the reason Matt can’t see his brother. I think the whole Robns death is an insult and joke. Where is Sonny he would be devastatred? One scene was it. Uncle Mac and Maxie back at work is laughable. Where is GH? This new head writer is as bad as Guza and Garin Wolf. I am not interested in OLTL nor should they be on GH. Robert considering suicide until he is told Ethan is his. OMG this is NOT GH. I guess soaps ALL soaps even GH are really dead. After this I feel GH should be dead.It lost its heart and all the soap vets can’t get it back. Those are just stunts.

Definitely thumbs down. I REALLY want to get on board with GH (I owe it to a medium that has entertained and enriched my life for several decades), but everything about this show is SO dark, bleak and violent. I tuned in yesterday to watch one intensely dark scene after another: Starr being told her child and boyfriend perished in a car explosion; Robert Scorpio teetering on a bridge contemplating suicide; and Kate spiraling into mental meltdown/split personality. (No offense to any of these actors, who all did remarkable jobs. I just wish these travesties were spaced out better to even out the show’s mood.)

The new credits reflect this new vision of GH… the “Places in the Heart” theme echoed the glory days of GH — tenderness, hope, assurance (characters were grouped in families or couples). This blunted music is the new GH — stark, depressing, harshly brisk, unrelentlessly dire. The show has NO humor and no lightness to offset its darkness (even the settings and lighting are dim). And the characters that usually lighten the mood — Edward, Epiphany, Diane — are underused.

Please, please, GH… let up! I desperately want this show to get on track… but the mood of the show is putting me off.

Where is Diane. Sonny’s attorney?

Who cares about the opening. I mean really. Yesterday was the first day in 6 months I watched the show in its entirety.

Absolutely love it! It has been way to long.

HORRIBLE !!!

Bring back the old music! Bring back the old Maxie! Love that Felicia is coming back but is Frisco?

The old Maxie is ill and that is why they cannot just “bring her back”. I don’t understand how people haven’t heard this and/or don’t want to accept it. If someone was not filling jn the character would have been off for many months now.

Yes, and this current Maxi is doing just fine. That character isn’t the easier to pay because Kristin (the old Maxi) played it with ALLOT of zest and energy. And so Jill is doing just fine bringing that same tenacity to the table. Jill, you are doing JUST fine., Trust Me.

Great new opening!! The old one made me crazy with that insipid sax work. If anyone noticed the original theme still plays on the end credits! So far very impressed with the shows new direction. Contrary to alot of people on here I enjoy Carly, Sonny and Jason, all great actors! I love the nuKate; she plays the Brooklyn part of her character much better than Megan Ward. She was way too waspy to believe she was from Bensonhurst.

I don’t mind the new opening, especially if we get more show out of it, like I believe we did yesterday. But I will say that the music is horrible. Someone said it earlier, it sounds like some cheesy jingle you’d hear on the 6:00 news.

The new opening is fine, all things considered. TPTB might be getting more commercials, but we are also getting MORE SHOW. And I’d rather have more scenes than a long opening. I always FF through it anyway.

IMO, the only insult to GH will be if the show gets cancelled after this regime does its best (and their best is GREAT), not the change in the opening or the loss of the last theme.

I don’t like the music in the new opening at all. Heard it might change daily. Hope they mean themusic will change and not just the actors who are on it. If it means that the show goes 2 minutes longer then that’s great! Just wish they would put better music with the intro, shorter or not.
Kudos to Ron and his writing staff for the better storylines already! Loving the old characters coming back and Way Loving the OLTL characters getting intermingled in!

Do not like it at all.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
