General Hospital
The Revolution Continues to Tank! General Hospital Must be Saved!

Courtesy/ABC
Once again the ratings are out for another week, and once again One Life to Live’s replacement, The Revolution sputtered off its axis! For the week of March 26th, the lifestyle/makeover show tied its series low in viewers with 1.32 million eyeballs with results in the three key female demos no higher than a 0.6 rating/4 share among women 25-54!
According to TV Media Insights, here are some significant comparisons of One Life last year at this time contrasted with The Revolution: One Life to Live – Week of 3/28/11 Viewers: 2.57 million, Women 25-54: 1.2/ 7, Women 18-49: 1.0/ 6, Women 18-34: 0.6/ 4 The Revolution – Week of 3/26/12 Viewers: 1.32 million, Women 25-54: 0.6/ 4, Women 18-49: 0.4/ 3, Women 18-34: 0.2/ 2 Percent Change – The Revolution vs. One Life to Live Viewers: -49, Women 25-54: -50, Women 18-49: -60, Women 18-34: -67
The foodie show, The Chew didn’t to all that great either! While they narrowed the gap versus All My Children one-year earlier in total viewers (2.21 vs. 2.38 million), the demo erosion is still in the double-digit percentages.
But still the bigger issue, why General Hospital has to be saved from cancellation! Some reasons are simple 1) Katie Couric wants the soap as her lead-in for her new talker, Katie 2) ABC should have learned a lesson from cancelling One Life to Live in favor of The Revolution and having more of viewer revolt. But of course, we could name countless other reasons and feel free in the comment section to add yours.
Even more troubling is that ABC announced that The Revolution is going to air repeat episodes from April 9th-20th. That does not help GH, when the lead-in is repeats of a show that everyone has already had enough of and the female demo that they so desperately wanted is not on board with the concept. Perhaps during the two week period, The Revolution is re-thinking how to repackage the show? Or perhaps, its another maneuver to happen right before the decision is handed down by the network on what show will stay, and what show will go come September.
Weigh in!
I honestly am so tired of talking about ABC and their total disrespect for longtime Daytime viewers. This garbage they call The Chew and The Revolution is disgusting. ONE LIFE TO LIVE should be back on the air! It took the executive producer and head writer to bring GENERAL HOSPITAL out of the ratings cellar to where it is now! That alone should show those idiots at ABC what is what! I really am so emotionally exhuasted in praying that these vultures at the mouse house don’t cancel the very last soap! They all suck!
Agree with you Chris. I watched One Life for 20 years and I took it personal when ABC cancelled it. It was the best soap ever. I gave up on GH in the late 90s. I’m watching again and I like the old characters coming back on a recurring basis. Love John McBain and the Mannings too. I really want to see Natalie join John in Port Charles. The police Dept. there could use a professional CSI working crime scenes. …….Maybe Oprah should have picked up One Life. Her talk show format is not working on cable.
I have e-mailed B Frons, & others of abc/disney….About this and it does no good..They never respond to my e-mails…I sent quite a few…About daytime programming, And those crappy reality/info/talk shows…They never answer my e-mails…I’m trying…………Don’t know what else to do….I sent them e-mails about abc cancelling OLTL etc…………………….That you can’t identify with this crap they have replaced our soaps with…And that they are not entertainment…And that we want our STORIES…Stuff like that…Have you any suggestions ……I TRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in total agreement One life should be on the air now at 2pm. The revolution should be HISTORY. Come Sptember move GH to 1pm and axe The Chew Problem solve Look how easy that was ABC>
I’m ith you and tired of talking about this. Organize a march, write abc/disney nonestop, send soap to the abc studio’s, cancel all cable channels connected to disney, keep the petitions going, tell all your family and friends not to watch the chew and revolution BUT yes, stop talking about it on this site, over and again, day in and out, breading negativity. Put those words into action. It will be the same kind of comments about it tomorrow, that fill the pages everyday on this site. Lets SO something BIG about it other than talk about it as U say.
I don’t think GH will be cancelled. But what do I know??
Did I miss something? How were the numbers for GH??
I am with you Chris. I was a loyal viewer of all of the soaps since their inception, including Dark Shadows. I am not and have never been a fan of “talk shows, reality shows” and such other crap. And never watched much on ABC/D primetime either as every time I got interested in a particular show in ABC/D true fashion they were canceled. What ABC/D needs to do is start eating some serious crow and bring the all the soaps back in to production particularly OLTL.
me too! (longtime viewer)
wish they’d replay Dark Shadows instead of revolting repeats!
I wonder how many reality (not realistic) shows networks put out before they figure out no one is watching?
I am also sick and tired of the manipulations of ABC. I only watch GH and am excited every day to see what is next. I miss my shows so much and am so tired of this discussion. ABC screwed up royally and everyone knows it including them. They even started some kind of group in New York to put together more lifestyle shows, more of what no one wants. I guess they know what we want more than we do. According to ABC we are idiots anyway. ABC and I are done permanently except of course GH.
ICAM. The minute GH goes off the air nobody in my house will be watching Channel 7 ABC Disney before 8pm. I have hundreds of channels to choose from, I certainly don’t need to give ratings to a company that could care less about my voice.
I hate to tell you, but the OLTL writer and producer have done nothing for GH: they’re still the lowest rated soap on the air. They did not bring them out of the cellar. Last week, the highest rated day was Monday, when people tuned in to see Heather. By Friday they barely had 2 million viewers. Further, the show is still practically unwatchable, with every single character on the show revolving around Sonny/Carly/Jason/Sam.
I hope they don’t cancel the last soap on ABC either……………..If they do, their even more unprofessional & CLUELESS………..And that they sit on their brains all the time…
PLEASE DON’T CANCEL GH!!!! ABC DON’T MAKE ME HATE YOU PLZ!!
Ditto. Gh needs to be saved. Love watching it
I agree 100%………….
Well, airing repeat shows is a clear indication they are now committed anymore to that show… They will spend less money for 2 weeks not having to produce it…
I totally agree Chantal! To me this means that this show is very close to cancellation (I can hear all the applauding already), becauseif you wanted to work on gaining viewers, why would you have a show that is so CLEARLY tanking “take a hiatus”, rather than continuing to produce new shows hoping to gain viewers. A show that no one has watched yet, will have even less viewers after a two week hiatus, that is for sure. I hope this is one step closer to GH being saved, and not just ABC taking those two weeks to continue to cultivate yet more talk shows that will not do well in their afternoon line-up. I understand they cost a great deal less to make, BUT if the numbers are as dismal as they are for The Revolution, you are not going to have advertisers competing for air time on that show, or any other like it.
The Revoklution is a LOSER..ABC should do the right thing…Assuming they have a heart……
Susan m ,abc/disney/the rat channel does not have heart they proved that when they broke all of the soap fans hearts by cancelling all my children and one life to live,Your right the revolution and the chew are losers,I wonder if abc watches the crap they expect us to watch, anyone who enjoys self help ,talk and food shows have to be weird.I like afternoon drama ,not a show for insecure people, who I guess need help dealing with there lives.
The View just returned from a two week break in which repeats aired. The irony? All of The View’s repeats beat GH in the ratings. You know it’s bad when The View’s repeats beat all new episodes of GH in the ratings.
The Chew, The Talk and The Revolution will be on their two week break starting next week. Why? It’s one of the many reasons these shows cost less. GH doesn’t get the luxury of taking these breaks except for special holidays.
I wish I understood why a lead in factors so much in a show having good ratings. It seems to me that a good show that’s been on the air for decades in the same timeslot doesn’t need a lead in for fans to figure out when it’s on. One Life To Live was doing great in the last months of its run and their were many weeks in which it didn’t help GH at all.
I think a good lead in is important to help a new show gain an audience. I don’t think it really makes sense the other way around. The Revolution is definitely not a good lead in for Katie. That’s obvious.
The dilemma for ABC is that I can’t see how GH is a good lead in for Katie in a new timeslot when it’s not doing well in the timeslot it’s had for decades. I’m curious to know what ABC’s strategy will be.
Why isn’t GH doing well? Have you seen how gutted the show became under Guza, Wolf and Ms. Black Cloud herself, Jill Farren Phelps? Every soap JFP has produced (OLTL, GL, SB, AW) is cancelled. They all became violent, dark, romance-free soaps that screamed that they were embarrassed to even be part of the soap genre. GH was barely hanging on for life. So many legacy and beloved characters were killed off that most viewers saw nothing left. The characters that were left were written so horribly you didn’t even recognize them. GH needs time AND patience to get back on track. If any team can do that, it’s Ron and Frank. ABC, in all of its crappy decisions lately, just needs to give the show a chance to prove itself again. If it can raise ratings, build good buzz agin AND be cost efficient , it should rebound nicely. I still can’t believe ABC decimated their daytime schedule so haphazardly. If The Revolution is given a renewal based on these ratings, we’ll have concrete evidence that aliens have indeed landed and started sucking the brains out of the execs at ABC first.
If a lot of people are watching a show, TV networks hope those people will stay to watch the show that comes on after it, so the more eyes you have on the show prior to yours, the better. A lot of people may not turn off the TV when ‘their’ show is finished and may get sucked into the next show. It does help to have a lead in with a lot of viewers. It’s then up to you to keep those viewers.
For instance, CSI wasn’t doing too hot, then it came on after Survivor and now has two spinoffs. Same with House and American Idol (without the spinoffs).
These two shows The Chew & The Revolution both SU-K……………The stench!!!!!!!!
I dont know why they just dont cancel it already.Abc/disney has no problem announcing there new summer line up,so the revolution should be out the door. All my children and One life to live should never have been canceled for this crap.
ABC needs to can “The Revolting” and bring back “One Life to Live!” They should put Katie on “Good Morning America” permanently as co-anchor with George and forget her afternoon gabfest.
The perfect solution and we all live happily ever after.
the decision is so clear to me that abc needs to keep gh for many reasons so why havent they announced it yet are they in spin control mode ,doesnt mattter what they say we will see rght through it keep gh n bring back oltl n amc n get loyal viewers back or we stay off abc for good
why is a show thats been barely on running repeats? that doesn’t make sense, but who cares, just take it off the air already, keep GH going and stop the endless abuse of soap fans once an for all.
There doing repeats already ?
The show is such a LOSER….They have one foot out the door (the Revolution)…
The repeats started today on 4/9…I fast forwarded the the guide on the T. V. today..They are showing repeats from Jan.-Feb. Only on almost four months and startin repeats already…………..Why do they keep this crap on(The Revolution)……………..I never liked info/reality/cooking shows.. Dr. Oz bores me to death….Too much info for me on that show…That show is ridiculous!!!! If you watched it you know what I mean..I want to be entertained not information to death….I like watching my stories….And I get lost in them…I enjoy watching them….That keeps my interest & want to watch it everyday….Not this crap they have on daytime programming now………
Why is ABC being so dumb? If they would just say they made a mistake & bring thr soaps back viewers would return. I just don’t think they can fix the Revolution> Fans are not going to watch plus it is a crappy show. Katie does not want GH cancelled to have to follow the Revolution. I don’t understand a Co. willing to hit bottom instead of doing the right thing. And the right thing is to put the soaps back on. They really are nuts.
There nuts and they are idiots,I think they would rather line there pockets with big bucks and give up on the idea of quality programming any more.Disney should never have bought abc so many years ago because the good mouse turned into a sleazy cheap Rat and the shows they are putting on in prime time proves that,How many B worded shows have they got now?
Truthfully, this revolting show needed to never been put on the air and Oltl should have NOT been cancelled.. Nobody is watching it, they pay 30dollars to have people sit in their audience! Ridiculous! ABC made a horrible mistake by cancelling two iconic soaps! We can NOT be retrained as they stated they would retrain us..we want our soaps, we grew up watching them and we refuse to be mistreated and ridiculed by ABC. We want General Hodpital to stay on the air and for ABC to sell Agnes back her creations (Both OLTL and AMC) she can put them on another network, that cares about the actors, cast/crew mrmbers and loyal SospNet viewers.. ABC, enough is enough, do NOT cancell GH.
When abc/disney advertizes the talk show they dont even mention the name the revolution anymore because no one wants to see the dopy show, they call it a talk show,30 dollars just not going to cut it,The revolution is one of the worst mistakes done by the rat channel ,they never should have cancelled the soaps for this trashy garbage ,the chew included.
Thanks for the article Mr Fairman. If ABC/DISNEY hasn’t learned yet they are doomed. You could revamp the revolution to the end of time and it would not help….THE VIEWERS HAVE SPOKEN……LOAD and CLEAR. Keeping General Hospital is ABC’s only chance to have any daytime ratings. The soap opera audience is very loyal and is getting VERY organized !!! ABC/DISNEY…..Hear us roar……DO THE RIGHT THING !!!
When is abc going to realize or should I say admit that they made a horrible mistake and correct it by putting back Amc and oltl where they belong. On daytime tv. Give the fans what they want and do the right thing.
It is so sad to hear that GH may be canceled in September. ABC/D is all abut making money and not about the fan base. Why not cancel GH? ABC/D canceled OLTL who had the better ratings and from reports budget was lower. In either case, I only watch GH on ABC/D and when it is canceled, I will never watch anything on ABC/D again.
Who said GH may be cancelled? It looks like ABC is getting behind GH since they gave GH enough of a budget to hire actors from OLTL and bring back Finola Hughes. I don’t think they’d be doing that if they didn’t have some long term goal in mind. Money is the bottom line with them.
I hope you are right ,I just dont understand why abc/disney doesnt come out and say one way or the other, Is general hospital cancelled or not.
The Revolution will be canceled; GH will be spared. Even ABC executives can’t be that stupid.
I dont know about that ,If you ask me there are alot of stupid people making dumb decisions at abc/disney,I know if I was in charge the revolution would be gone, but I never would have cancelled the soaps ,would have left the daytime lineup alone because there was nothing wrong with there programming. Now there is.
Maybe spared, but for HOW long? Until December when they can get a replacement?
Face it. ABC doesn’t want the soaps anymore. I am watching GH on ABC ONLY. Nothing else of theirs. When it is canceled, I won’t watch any of their programming ever again. It’s all garbage anyway. And ABC does not care about what the soap fans want. They don’t care about us, period.
The only way for GH to survive a move to 2 p.m. eastern is for more influx of OLTL characters. Another thing that could help, and I know there are quite a few fans out there who don’t want to hear this, Sonny has to go. The show has to go back to being a soap opera instead of the “mob opera” it has become.
I’m not sure that GH needs a lead-in, I think of it as more of a “destination” show. Katie, however needs a lead-in and GH should be the one. The Revolution is NEVER on in my house, if my channel is set to ABC at 2 pm I turn it off.
I still find it surprising that the Chew does as well as it does. Neither can compare to the show they replaced. Hopefully ABC/D doesn’t keep their heads up their a$$es and leave GH on the air!
This show proves that Brian Frons clearly had no idea what he was doing while he was President of ABC Daytime.
And should this show continue any longer, it will be further proof that Anne Sweeney (Head of ABC and probably Brian Frons’ mistress) has no idea what she is doing.
Please keep General Hospital and get rid of that Revolting show that took One Life to Live away from us.
The Chew and The Revolution were both bad ideas from the start. My granddaughters, who are in one of those prime demographic groups, don’t like either one of them. They miss Star and Cole and Hope and even Todd (They are split on New Todd v. Old Todd, and argue for hours about it) ABC/Disney needs to pay the incompetent execs a little less so they can bring back the programs that viewers will actually watch. Can stockholders have a vote of no-confidence? If they can, Bob Iger had better watch out! Disney profits, even at the Parks, are down. Too many wrong decisions lead to new management.
If only your granddaughters were in charge of ABC Daytime. They are right. The battle between Todd and Victor, with their families caught in the middle, would have been one of the best storylines ever and easily attracted more than 3 million viewers to OLTL.
ABC is going to cancel General Hospital if for no other reason than to show us they can. They have all the power. It’s not about viewers or ratings or even that much about money anymore. It’s about power. They have it. We don’t. They don’t care if we quit watching. They only care that we see how powerful they are. They’ve made Mickey Mouse the poster child for corporate greed and how to bully. It’s disgusting. To do the right thing, they would have to cancel the replacement shows and put the soaps back in production. OR sell the rights to the shows to another network who will air them. They won’t, cause then they would have to admit, the viewers have power.
I hope I’m wrong, but I get this nagging feeling that GH will get blamed for The Revolution’s lower ratings-despite all evidence to the contrary. I know, it doesn’t make sense-but what has since last spring?? That doesn’t mean I’m through fighting, though
I think you’re on the money, Holly. GH’s ratings could go through the roof, and abc would probably STILL cancel it. ABC hates the soap genre and they want out. All they care about is the bottom line and nothing else. Unfortunately, I doubt abc would ever sell OLTL and AMC back to Agnes or any other network. They don’t want the shows to be successful elsewhere because they’d then look like idiots (which they are).
Abc primetime shows aren’t any better………………I never watch them.. They are sooooooooo STUPID…………………..Kindergarten level shows…
I wonder how low this stupid show will go. It was such a mistake to cancel One Life to Live.
If soap fans stopped watching all ABC daytime except General Hospital it might send ABC a much needed message. If the network wants to waste its money on silly reality shows, longtime daytime viewers will go elsewhere.
I know that ABC/D does not want to admit the biggest daytime programing mistake in their time on the airwaves. Replacing AMC and OLTL was the biggest and dumbest thing they could ever have done. They lost millions of devoted viewers of these two soaps, and not only did they lose millions of viewers for these shows they lost them all for daytime and prime time too! Not only are the replacement shows a big waste of money so is using money originally meant for AMC & OLTL to put Kati Couric on the air which no one will watch either. Their whole network is failing because of these decisions and even shows people loved to watch are failing and the whole network is in trouble. Yes I beleive ABC/D IS deliberately sabotaging General Hospital so they can justify cancelling it also. The only problem with that is whether they beleive it or not if they cancel GH which just celebrated their 49th birthday there will be hell to pay. Then no one will be tuning in to anything on ABC/D. They need to wake up and do what is right and bring back our beloved shows. If they think that KC will be watched they are sadly mistaken, as they continue to spiral down hill. This is sad, Walt Disney must be rolling over in his grave. I doubt if he would have ever bought ABC, and if he did he gave the people what they wanted, not trying to make money by making stupid decisions!
When is ABC/Disney going to learn. Of all the dumbest things they could do. I understand they are trying to erode the General Hospitlat viewers. But have they never heard of a thing called a reminder? Whether it is part of your cable menu, or an alarm clock set at the time General Hospital comes on putting a lousy show like the Revultion (my name for the revolution) reruns is NOT going to give ABC a legal excuse to cancel GH. Dammit ABC don’t you realize you are cutting your own throat and that the viewers are NOT as stupid as you think they are. DISNEY you hosted those fan weekends at Disney World and Disneyland. Did you happen to check out the kind of jobs those fans had? WE ARE NOT, REPEAT NOT AS STUPID AS YOUR SNOBISH ADVISERS THINK WE ARE! We are on to your tactics and for those who are not, there are folks who know the in and outs of TV here to advise people who just VIEW.
NEXT WEEK WILL BE A TRUE TEST FOR GHers! The Revulsion is in repeats next week which means GH ratings could take a dip. WE NEED EVERYONE & THEIR MOTHERS watching GH next week. PLEASE PASS ON THE MESSAGE.
I had not watched GH in years and am occasionally tuning in now because of the Mannings and John McBain. I have no comparison to set as to whether the show has improved since the writers from OLTL have moved over. GH to me is nowhere near as good as OLTL was. However, I would hate to see the last soap on ABC cancelled because at least one needs to be saved. My daily routine has changed dramatically with the cancellation of OLTL and AMC, and I miss them both terribly. As for ABC, they were warned over and over again and seem to care less and less about their viewers. Now, perhaps they will pay for their lack of empathy for the viewers as their daytime line-up tanks and their nighttime line-up continues to stumble. ABC is no longer #1 with the viewers and I know they are feeling the pinch. I would try to feel sorry for them, but they are just too stupid for me or any of the soap viewers to really give a rat’s ass. ABC sucks!
BTW, I read on this thread someone is emailing Frons. Frons left the company in December 2011.
I think it was january 2012 that he left ,he wasnt the only problem at abc/disney,he was the fall guy ,as they say and he took the fall for the higher ups.At least we dont have to look at that smerk look on his face ,he had that chester cat that just ate the rat look.
I’ve watched neither “The Chew” nor “The Revolution” (I don’t really count, as I’m not a Nielsen family), but I hope ABC retains “GH” for the sake of its fans, of which I am not one.
I’ve REALLY tried giving “GH” a fair shake, but its mafia- and revenge-riddled storylines are of NO interest to me. Its nominal stars, Maurice Benard and Laura Wright, are clearly overworked from overexposure and not that watchable. The former stammers his way through dialogue; the later obviously believes bearing her teeth incessantly is intense acting. Of the remaining cast, Jason Thompson, Sonja Eddy, and Jane Elliot are among the few who still hold my interest, although Elliot is clearly trapped in a storyline unworthy of her.
As for the OLTL refugees, I don’t get “it.” But again, my affection for OLTL stopped once the Buchanans took over the show.
Why don’t they put on a new soap called ” One life to live with all my children”. Bring back the actors that they can get from both soaps, and let the actors/writes own part of the show to keep the cost down.
If “The Revolution” is cheaper to make than “One Life to Live”, I could see a network viewing it as a minor success even with lower ratings.
True. But there are still some limits as to how low a TV show can go even if it is a cheap-produced program.
I can see The Chew being a win situation for ABC when compared to All My Children. But there’s no way, ABC can claim success with The Revolution over One Life to Live. The difference of numbers is just too much.
ABC needs to get a clue. The genre isn’t dead – it just needs great, talented writing and great chemistry between the actors. This current ABC team has a chance, as they already proved by reviving OLTL before cancellation. They stepped up the storyline timing and added humor and drama to the everyday show. Chemistry is so important too – the best chemistry in a very long time was Carly and Lorenzo – Todd and Blair had it too. New writers don’t understand that “pair chemistry” is sacred to the viewer – you don’t put them together to break them up – that’s not the drama. You don’t let everyone sleep with everyone to get ratings. It’s about relationships not sex. It’s about family (not always blood) but support. It’s about attraction and flirting and humor. I’d love for this new team to go back to the old school way of writing a soap and developing and growing a character.
ABC doesn’t think the genre is dead either, because they continue to put “soap” on at night – i.e., Revenge, Grey’s Anatomy and the new one that started last night. Doesn’t matter the veneer around the show – they are all soaps. And, if love and relationship stories are dead then explain the Twilight series to me. That’s all about love and relationships and attraction and good storytelling. Downton Abbey is another show that comes to mind.
I am a television baby – I am now watching less tv than I ever have. I can’t see wasting my time watching reality – who wants to watch real life on tv? It’s cheap to make and takes no talent to be on one. Give me great stories. Give me quality.
I hope ABC gives the new production team at GH a real chance. I hope the new team has the vision to revive the show. I hope the viewers support the show and enjoy the storylines – the whole show – not just their favorites. RC seems to be good at weaving the characters together so we can enjoy all the storylines and he has a gift for humor on the show – very tongue in cheek – I can’t wait to see where it is all going to go.
why are they doing repeats for two weeks? ABC said they ordered 200 episodes, which would have taken them thru to September, at least, if they ran daily…. hmmm. Repeating won’t cost any production fees, and maybe, maybe, it will help make up for all the money they’re losing on paying people to come watch the crap in person! bwahahahahahaha
I think they’re up to something!
But you know, if I was in charge and would like to make some extra money but save on production costs… you know what I’d do? I’d run repeats of something people WANT to see – like old AMC or OLTL shows – like favorite shows or such. Even rerunning Dark Shadows (original series) would be a hot repeat right now!
Of course they don’t have anyone as smart as I am working at ABCDuh!
I have watched all 3 of ABCDs Soaps for 40yrs and still in their coveted daytime demo. Yes, I was under 10. They still don’t care. At this point the rat house is out to prove themselves correct. That they can train viewers. Well NOT this one. I loved Modern Family and won’t even watch that. The Rat House is dead to me whether GH survives or not. I will support and watch GH which is the only show I watch on ABC. They don’t air ANYTHING anymore unless they can market it as a toy, tour, or get paid to sell household products. I agree, Walt Disney has to be spinning in his grave. Nothing like he could ever have envisioned.
jackie like you I have watched all the abc soaps since general hospital began and I agree with you the rat channel cannot program me to continue to watch the crap they put on and replaced my soaps with .Walt disney is spinning in his grave ,If he has a front row seat to the prime time shows his network is showing now and whats to come I am sure he himself has changed the channel where ever he is.Disney/the rat channel should never have bought ABC slowly the network has been going downhill, and this use to be abc watcher is never going back ,I watch general hospital ,thats it. If general hospital gets canceled I am gone.
Remember, many folks are boycotting ABC all together and not watching GH. When OLTL went off the AIR, ABC was banned from my TV.
Thats wrong we should be supporting general hospital ,we should be watching all the soaps .I’ve been boycotting abc since they announced the cancellation of all my children and one life to live ,I gave up on all the prime time shows that I did watch and only watched the soaps,I got down to One hour left and that is general hospital,if its cancelled abc/disney looses that 1 hour, this abc/disney soap fan will never watch another show on the rat channel,But right now we have 4 soaps left ,they all need our support or soaps will be replaced with more crap trashy ,cheap, food ,talk and self image crap shows, general hospital needs to be watched ,the stories are much better then they were a few months ago,Its improved for the better,Ron and frank are trying to save our last abc soap and they are doing a brilliant job,Hiring finola huges shows they care about our characters in port charles.

we should all answer that 1st one – yeah, we’ve got a great idea! get rid of the stinkin’ show and bring back our soaps!
Christy, your right when you call it a stinkin show and they should bring back our soaps. Are they still begging people to be in the audience and will pay 30 dollars for your time(waste of time)?Abc/disney must be idiots wasting money on these shitty shows.these people who watch this crap need a reality check of there own ,how can they be entertained by this stuff?I just dont understand .SAD.Give me a drama over this garbage anyday, cheap, cheap, cheap.
I agree with Christy.. ABC/D don’t have any heart
ABC/DISNEY lost there heart a very long time ago .It shows in there prime time programming and when they cancelled the soaps ,what use to be a class network is gone.
LOL @your idea for #1
I do not like The Chew or The Revolution. Actually I sampled the Chew and couldn’t stand it. Have never watched the Revolution and won’t. I record GH and watch after work. If they cancel GH and replace it with another talkie, foodie, lifestyle crap show, I will not watch.
Inge,Life style crap shows pretty much says it all .I cant stand any of the commercials ,they are bad enough to watch,abc/disney loves to throw all those ads at us while general hospital is on,what an insult ,what they should have done was pay more attention to the soaps then they do this garbage they are throwing at us ,all my children and one life to live are classic soaps and they deserve better then what the rat channel gave them.I have boycotted all programming on the mouse house if they cancel general hospital Abc/disney is finished with the last hour they have with me. ,and I will never ,ever, watch anything on that network again.
ABC I hope you have interns reading all the posts that are out there about your idiotic decision to replace your once beloved soaps with health and wellness shows that no one wants to watch. Admit your mistake and put our shows back on. In a half hour format if that will help to reduce costs. Swallow your pride and get over your failed experiment with these shows before you waste more money on a show that no one will watch and Katie’s show will suffer as a result of it as well!
When I leave my daily e mails to the rat channel ,I have told them a few times to come here and read just a few of the posts ,I enjoy annoying abc/disney ,Ive been doing it for almost a year now when they announced the cancellation of one life to live and all my children my quest began, its routine i email them they e mail me back with the same wording ,they dont have any class to write back to me in a personal form.I will continue to bug them I have to ,Im not giving up.There was no reason to cancel the abc soaps and threaten to cancel general hospital.I hope the mouse kingdom never goes back to being #1.They lost alot of support from the soap fans ,Sad part about it,they dont care ,if they did they would fix the soap problem.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH FOR THE REVOLUTION!!!! THIS LITTLE THING NEED TO GO!!! I’M SORRY TO BE RUDE LIKE THIS… They r playing silly game when The Revoltuion got away and try get away from avoid cancelled their show.. I hope ABC can catch big Bass (them) out of the water.. I understand ABC need decision in middle of April or end of April, they do need get rid of that bad taste show(not the Chew, but other one is had to go)… while they still under the rock and hid it somewhere else. Save The GH ,b/c next year for big 50th Anniversary and salute to Dr. Steve Hardy who had million….million of heart to all of us. I salute to Dr. Steve Hardy and Robert Scorpio. This is how I feel inside from my heart.
YES,THE REVOLUTION HAS TO GO.
I am kinda in consensus with everyone else…..I’m tired of hearing about how poorly The Revolution is doing, not that I’m not happy by this news, but because I know that ABC will not bite the bullet and bring back OLTL…They are stubborn, and even though they have been proven wrong, they will not do the right thing and bring back our soap.
You know I was sitting around thinking, the other day, and a thought ran into my mind. All these execs say that the soaps are a dying genre….and I think they have the wording wrong. Soaps are not dying……otherwise why are we seeing so many networks add prime time soaps to their lineup? But also I disagree with this, because by saying that they are dying, they are implying that they have run their course, are no longer interesting and that people have lost the desire to tune in and see what happens everyday. By the numbers that The Revolution is showing, compared to the numbers OLTL have, we can see that that is not the case. So, I came up with a better wording for what is happening…..Soaps aren’t dying, they are being killed/murdered by the networks. Which means that they’re lives are being cut short, in the prime of their lives. It’s been nearly three months since the last episode of OLTL aired, and the loss is still palpable…..this couldn’t be said, if it was truly a dying genre. Fans are still grieving and still keeping hope alive that OLTL will make a triumphant return to the small screen. I would be lying if I said that I don’t hope that one day, I’ll wake up, turn on my television and hear a broadcast news report saying that the network has decided to bring back OLTL. Sounds crazy, I know, but I can dream.
I heard from some one here ,that abc/disney has 2 more trashy shows that they want to try out,I hope that isnt true ,And Torrey ,you are right the soaps arent dying they are getting murdered by idiots at the rat channel who are ,I wish I could make one dollar every time I say this ,but they want more money in there greedy pockets at the expense of descent programming and our beloved soaps were ,as you said murdered by the morons who run abc/disney.There all idiots or they just dont know what class is .I also hope that one day we will once again see One life to live.
You are so right Torrey. I have said before our shows have been ripped away from us-murdered, destroyed. No way were they dying-AMC could have been fixed & OLTL had nothing TO fix. I miss OLTL every single day. The loss of this show casts a dark shadow on my life every day. I can be happy, going about my business, when at some point it hits me. Forget about the 1-2 p.m hour (central-when I used to watch OLTL) That is my worst hour of the day. Your dream is mine, that one day we’ll get the best news ever-that our show is coming back. I would just go crazy with happiness.
I would love to have that dream come true. I keep turning on the tv at the usual time and think OLTL is on…sadly no. It was the best written and best acted soap. How can the network keep ignoring us. 🙁
Money, they are enjoying getting bigger pay checks they could care less about us soap fans,I get that feeling that something is suppose to happen at 2 everyday only its not there anymore.Miss one life to live terribly .
I think The Revolution was given a chance and the viewers have spoken. Oh that’s right, ABC/D doesn’t listen to it’s viewers.
Keep GH!
I send abc/disney a email every day ,there not listening, cause they send me back a email saying the same thing over ,and over, again, but I keep going back.
hey barbara, what do they say to you? I’m sure the person answering your notes isn’t the person you’re trying to reach tho.
read the artcles I just found (see below)
look up an article: Time to Tell TV Networks “Enough’s Enough!””
it’s exactly what we’ve been up against with cancelled soaps and what ABC does to loyal fans!
I’m disgusted by these talk shows and ABC, bad tv, bad network for giving us junk. Pretty soon there won’t be anything worth while watching if they don’t listen to the viewers. The smartest thing would be to bring back One Life To Live!!! That’s my comment.
The day GH is pulled from ABC’s daytime line up is the day I am done with the network, especially in terms of daytime programming. The Chew & Revolution is the worst programming I have seen in a long list of bad decisions made by this network. It’s upsetting to see them continue to add soap-style shows to their primetime line up, only to cut soaps from their daytime line up. Soap opera fans aren’t dumb, we see what’s going on. SAVE GH and let it run for 50 more years.
oh gees… reported an hour ago, The Revolution is looking for inspiring moms…. ABC’s “The Revolution” wants you!
surprised they didn’t ask for inspiring overweight moms! Are they changing their format cuz no one’s watching?
What a joke.Christy where did you read this?Abc/disney seems to be sticking with there stupid show, wonder if there still paying people to go in and sit and be bored to death for 4 hours.
realitywanted.com The Revolution is on a quest for fantastic/inspiring mothers…
mmm well that executive in charge of installing this yuck in place of our soaps, is a “mother” of a sort! bwahahahahaha

Christy ,Realitywanted is a very interesting sight to go to thanks.
At the very least they should air re-runs of AMC & OLTL in The Revolutions timeslot! I would actually watch those! AND save GH of course 🙂
Bring back AMC and OLTL…will never watch The Chew or any other show that replaces my soaps!!!!
Bring back AMC and OLTL. We want our soaps back. Stop ruining things ABC

General Hospital’s John J. York On His Health Battle & Living Life While Waiting for Bone Marrow Transplant: “Let’s Just Go One Day At a Time”

John J. York’s positive outlook on his current medical diagnosis is quite remarkable, as his approach might be one many facing the same circumstances might consider. The beloved General Hospital vet, where he has played Mac Scorpio for 32 years, revealed last week that he is battling cancer.
The popular soap star shared that he has been fighting myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma: two blood and bone marrow disorders.
York spoke with PEOPLE about how he found out about his diagnosis, the support his wife Vicki has shown throughout, and how he lives life day to day, while he waits for an all-important bone marrow transplant.

The actor shared what happened the moment he learned of his diagnosis: “(The doctor) was explaining all these different things and cells and all different levels and words that had, you know, 25 letters in them. And I didn’t understand. And Vicki finally came out and said, ‘Does John have cancer?’ And he said, ‘Yes.’ And I’m sitting there, I’m really just like a fly on the wall, listening to him talk to Vicki because she was the one asking all the questions. At the end of his doctor’s conversation with Vicki, York’s one question was simple: ‘Why do I feel so good?’”
Vicki and John were in the process of moving to Tennessee to be closer to their daughter, Skyler, but considering UCLA in Los Angeles as John’s treatment center. In the end, Skyler’s husband suggested Vanderbilt University for John’s cancer center so he did not have to travel back and forth to the west coast.
Since March of this year, John has had IV chemo treatments every month, with another one coming up in September. On that, John expressed: “It is what it’s, you know what I mean? And then everybody’s gotta get their treatment. And then you go home, go about your life and you play with the kids. And here we are.”
Currently, York is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. He has been moved up the donor priority list. If anyone is interested, and you are between 18-40, you can join the registry here bethematch.org/matchformac.

York shared how Vicki is coping with what’s ahead: “Yeah, she’s scared, but believe it or not, I really kinda wasn’t because I feel great. Personally, I feel like it’s in God’s hands. God’s will be done. It’s gonna work out okay, one way or another. I’m either gonna survive or I’m not. And life goes on and things are gonna be okay for everybody… Let’s just go one day at a time.”
Share your well-wishes, and support and love to John, as he goes through the next phase of his health battle and let’s hope a bone marrow transplant donor is found for him soon. After all, we all want to see Mac Scorpio return to Port Charles, but more importantly, we all want John to feel better and beat this.Comment below.

Billy Miller’s Mother Issues Statement On His Passing

Patricia Miller, the mother of the late Billy Miller, has come forward and issued a touching statement on the tragic death of her beloved son at age 43. The statement was shared by Billy’s longtime manager, Marnie Sparer, via social media.
Billy was best-known for his performances as Richie Nowack on All My Children, Billy Abbott of The Young and the Restless and Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on General Hospital, as well as countless primetime roles. Throughout his career, Miller took home three Daytime Emmys for his work.
“I would like to share the following thoughts,” Patricia began. “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ – Billy Miller.”

Photo: JPI
Patricia continued with these sentiments, as she wanted to clear up any misinterpretations on this death: “He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
The soap world as well as Billy’s family, friends, loved ones, and colleagues are in deep mourning for this talented man, who was gone too soon.

Billy Miller Remembered by His GH and Y&R Co-Stars As They Share Grief on His Passing

UPDATED: On Sunday, longtime friends and co-stars of actor Billy Miller took to social media to share their remembrances and sorrow on the passing of the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning star.
Miller passed away on Friday, September 15th as first reported and confirmed by Michael Fairman TV. While the official cause of death has not been revealed, it has been related to the press by his management that Billy was suffering from manic depression.
Billy played Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on General Hospital from 2014-2019, and prior to that won 3 Daytime Emmys for his role as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless from 2008-2014. He started his soap career on All My Children in the role of Richie Novack back in 2007-2008.
Below are just some of the tributes pouring in for Billy:
Eric Braeden: “We lost BILLY MILLER! It saddens me deeply! He was a very gifted actor! Amelia(Victoria) and I took him to dinner one evening while he was in tough negotiations, and I remember telling him to reconsider, because rarely is an actor given a part that describes him almost perfectly, and to not make the mistake I had seen some actors make over my 60’years in the business, that they are indispensable! Once an actor thinks that or is told that by some sycophants, they step onto a slippery road…usually to oblivion! “BILLY BOY” was not only a damn good actor but a nice man! May he rest in peace and meet up with KRISTOFF in the BEYOND, ‘the undiscovered country from whose bourn no Traveller returns “ and tell each other jokes! They were both loved by their colleagues!”

Melissa Claire Egan: “My beautiful friend. I love you. I’m so sad. And I’m so sorry.”

Jess Walton: “RIP to my precious Billy Miller. You were and ARE much loved by all of us who knew you”
Daniel Goddard: “The world is going to be just that little bit more dull without you in it… you had that “it” factor that lit up every room you were in. Rest In Peace Mate ”

Jon Lindstrom: “Billy was gifted. He was also good-natured, smart, funny, and always impressed me as a great friend to those close to him. He didn’t blink when I asked him to put on this shirt to help raise up the marginalized artists in our industry. He always seemed to have his heart in the right place and I always laughed when I was around him. #FlightOfAngels. #RIP #BillyMiller #bereft”
Frank Valentini: “I am devastated to hear news of the incredibly talented Billy Miller’s passing. On behalf of the entire (General Hospital) family, our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Elizabeth Hendrickson: “Today I should have been sending you a Happy Birthday text BJ. Truth be told i hated calling you BJ but that’s what your closest friends /family called you. I eventually caved. The last couple years we kept in touch through birthdays and monumental moments or when we wanted to vent about “ work”. You gave me a lot of advise. When i understood it always mumbling your words. We always joked about that.
We didn’t text or talk often. But I’m glad the last couple times we did, we had a great banter like we used to. I knew that we always held a special place in each others hearts, no matter what. You were such an amazing friend to your inner circle. They were your family. You would do ANYTHING for them. That’s who really were. As loyal as they came. I’m sad and yes, mad at myself that I wasn’t being a better friend, checking in more often because I was thinking of you recently. I was. I hope you know that we are all here now texting each other, sending pictures and sharing memories of how fucking AWESOME you were. This hole in my heart will never be filled. Goodnight, sweet Billy.”
Scott Clifton: “This is not fair. We deserved so much more of him. Rest in peace, Billy. You’re immortal now.”

Photo: JPI
Coby Ryan McLaughlin (ex-Shiloh, GH): “Man… this sucks. Billy and I played on GH together for nearly a year. He was intense, focused, cool and kind. He knew the hamster wheel that I was about to start spinning on all too well, and always made himself available to help the new guy….. Rest easy, man…
Michael Muhney (ex-Adam, Y&R): “Billy, My fellow Texas brother. You lit up every room with your smile. Your quiet intensity onscreen was second only to your gentle kindness and genuine care in private. We recently shared work on an Apple series, and your encouragements during and after that process, and your kindness over the years are now but a few of the things I’ll hold on to as warm memories of you. What a big heart you had. You were bigger and braver and bolder than this life. You were legend. There is no landing to this final cliffhanger, the wings you’ve spent your lifetime earning have carried you up to that wonderful place in the sky. Happy Birthday Billy Miller.”
The Young and the Restless: “The daytime community mourns the loss of Billy Miller who graced Y&R with his talent for many years as Billy Abbott. Our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.”
Kathleen Gati: “I am beyond sad to hear this tragic news.#BillyMiller was always so kind, professional and a wonderfully talented colleague @GeneralHospital Deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.”
TK Weaver: “Devastated. Hard to find words. You always gave me such good advice. You were always there for me. You were an amazing person. #BillyMiller I’ll never forget you. Please join me in praying for his family and loved ones.”
Greg Rikaart: Generous, passionate, fun, soulful and brilliant Billy. Can you just imagine the reunion between him and Jeanne? I can. Rest well, dear Billy
Sean Kanan: “Shocked and saddened to hear that Billy Miller is no longer with us. He was a terrific actor and always kind when we would see each other. I pray that his family and friends find comfort and peace during this unimaginably difficult time. #BillyMiller #YR”
