THE VIEW Taken Over By ABC News! Leaving General Hospital, The Chew, Incoming Tyra Banks Show As All That's Left Of ABC Daytime!

A bit of shocker via Variety! The entertainment news outlet is reporting that ABC’s morning talker, The View is now going to fall under the auspices of ABC News and no longer be a under the ABC Daytime wing. That means that of the once strong ABC Daytime programming block, only The Chew and General Hospital remain.
According to the report: Starting today, “The View will be part of the non-fiction branch of programming within ABC News which produces the documentary series NY Med. The talk show will now be in the growing portfolio of ABC News president James Goldston, Ben Sherwood’s (incoming ABC/Disney Television President) right-hand man who helped revamp Good Morning America. It seems that ABC’s daytime executives are clearly losing oversight of the show.
The View which re-tooled itself this year bringing back Rosie O’Donnell, and adding Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez along with the longest on-air ranking host, Whoopi Goldberg have faced lackluster ratings since it bowed in September.
The report also goes on to say: “Within ABC there’s been conflict about which side has been calling the shots on “The View” this season.” The go on to say “The shakeup poses many questions about what sources describe as dysfunction inside ABC Daytime, which was folded into ABC’s entertainment division in 2011, and has a sparse plate that includes an upcoming Tyra Banks talk show, The Chew and General Hospital. One of the chief recent disappointments was Katie, the much-hyped Katie Couric 2012 talk show that hemorrhaged millions and was axed after two seasons.”

I’m just happy that ABC cancelled Katie Couric, or did she decide to leave-I can’t remember. I really tried to watch a few of her shows-she always appeared fake to me. I miss when I was little and having Ryan’s Hope, Loving, AMC, OLTL, and GH on in the living room. I used to love Ryan’s Hope and Loving.
i changed frm the View to Kelly and Michael . There’s to much yelling. As far Katie I liked most of her shoes they were very informative. I was sorry to see her go.ABC screws up big time when they took those two soaps!
ABC has lost sight of what day time viewers want. They are so busy trying to find ways to create a larger profit for themselves. They are their own worst enemy!
ABC screwed up big time when they canceled All My Children and One Life To Live. The viewers have been leaving in droves. It would appear that their leadership knows nothing of the power of viewer loyalty!

ABC is my favorite station, but when they took off One Life to Live and All My Children, they made a huge mistake! Millions of viewers left them! Their night time line up is terrific for each night, but I’m not on board with removing/revamping The View! I’ve been watching since Day 1 of this show and even though many of the hosts were tossed or left on their own, I still stayed with it. Put the soaps back on and stop with the game shows and reality crap!
Amen brothers and sisters to soap loyalty. After cancelling AMC and OLTL, my family swore off giving ABC any consideration when it comes to watching anything besides GH. Reality TV, profit motives…good grief! – too many cheap shows lacking plot, good writing and acting skills. ABC has gotten so trashy, no shows with heart, just violence and pushing exposed flesh. Cheap.

they had a great thing going with the afternoon soap schedule, but wanted to improve for the new generation of viewers. well its been three years – and the results? less viewers – i wonder what they learned?
nothing – instead they decide to add yet another hour of ‘news with a view’ to their schedule.. i’d rather watch an actual cable news network that knows what they are doing and is fair and balanced.
so long abc – it was nice knowing you…. looks like we will have to look elsewhere for entertainment and stories…
The Chew is making more money for the network than AMC and OLTL. They have as much viewers as GH without the inflated salaries and production costs. Think ABC will keep trying to bring on another “The Chew” type show over ever bringing back AMC and OLTL . That is IF ABC EVER gets the rights back! Think the genre of the soap is not going to last much longer on the networks . Soap genre seems to be excelling on the web! Dallas reboot on TNT was a beacon of hope for the soap genre survival but that show has been canceled and looks like more are on their way out as well… Sad,
Who watches the chew its the worst cooking show ever, its sad that when it premiered it had to run into General Hospital time slot for about 1 to 2 minutes. That’s how they were getting their ratings because of the General Hospital fans would tune in at 2 pm to their soap. No one likes the cast, they had to pay the audience just to sit in and watch the show because it was doing so bad in the ratings. ABC just needs to bring back AMC & OLTL .
I agree !!! ABC trying to save face on THE CHEW (Or, THE PHEW). At least GH is doing great 😉 I wish they would bring our soaps back, although, most of the actors are on other projects or other soaps.
Well I for one LOVE the Chew! They have such great chemistry, I learn a lot and they are just so entertaining. You know you are always in for a great laugh.I find it so childish when people call it the “Phew or the Spew” seriously, grow up people. So happy GH is doing well it has been my favorite show since I was a kid.
Sorry,but never liked the chew from day one. Never had any interest in cooking shows. Don’t find them entertaining one bit! I rather watch my stories any day. When GH is over each day ,then I watch one of my DVD movies. ABC had to ruin a good thing!!!
We call it “Phew” or “Spew”, because we’re trying not to puke at the thought of that show! Daytime TV is for drama. If you you want cooking , watch cable. I’ve boycotted ABC for three years now; except for GH. I was watching “The View” from to time, because of Whoopi, but not after the first new show. The personalities don’t click well, and who needed another Hasselbeck ever! Now iI watch two soaps from CBS, and GH.
I agree losing it’s daytime shows like AMC and OLTL was a big mistake.. the loyal watchers cancelled TWO shows already including that awful Katie show.. The View is on it’s way out in my opinion. Firing those who people watched and replacing them with others they THINK people want was bad. LONG live SOAPS including GH… TYRA will go down too.. didn’t she TRY a show already and it fail?? I think SO.. live and learn ABC.

I agree with ABC (the commentator, not the network). The Chew is hosted by some of the most annoying “chefs” I have ever had the misfortune of seeing.
Moreover, the recipes are dreadful. It’s like having four Rachel Rays stirring the pot.

Never liked Sherri Sheherd, she was always doing most of the talking . Always talking about Jeffrey. And the eating segments she was always the first one there, filling her mouth up with food. The only one I really liked was Whoopi. But I stoped watching the view for five years now. Lost interest. Prefer

They were annoying and controversial. Sheri brought her religion and her son into every conversation….not to mention the race on too many occasions. That’s not entertainment… And going back further? Elizabeth? Can I get an UGH???!!!

A while back, I remember when Prince was on The View. When Prince walked onto The View’s stage, Sherri IMMEDIATELY started behaving like a lovesick idiot (or whatever) in front of that poor man. She said all kinds of crazy things to Prince which ended up being VERY INAPPROPRIATE on-air. Get this: Before the segment, Barbara Walters pulled Sherri aside and told Sherri to BEHAVE HERSELF on-air. Needless to say, Sherri didn’t listen. Anyway, about 10 minutes or so into the segment, Prince had had enough and very quickly left the stage. After the episode, Sherri caught MAJOR HELL from the rest of The View ladies (especially Barbara) and the show’s producers because of her behavior. Rebecca, I gotta tell ya’: I lost A LOT of respect for Sherri soon after that. As far as I’m concerned, Sherri has NO TACT!!!!! PERIOD!!!!! No.

interesting jaybird369…never knew that. might google to read about it. sad…the few movies I saw her in she was funny…even when she started out she added a friendly presence. but like I said…for me…race, religion, her son…who cares!!!???? people don’t watch a show to hear about someone’s life… (truth be told I barely watched the show…but mom did/does…but I saw enough to be turned off by her, Elizabeth…and Ms. Jenny was no prize either. ) LOL…

Interesting! When Russell Brand came on The View about 2 years or ago he engaged in his usual weird Brand kind of flirting. Sherri became all flustered and bent-out-shape and thought he was really hitting on him. She didn’t seem to get his particular brand of humor. Also, Brand was engage to Katie Perry at the time and I really doubt he would jeopardize that by fooling around with that fool.
In any case, interesting that Sherri went nuts over Prince but couldn’t handle Russell Brand’s harmless flirting.

2. Rebecca…check this out: Not too long ago, Jenny married actor Donnie Wahlberg (the younger brother of actor Mark Wahlberg). Anyway, supposedly, Mark DOES N-O-T LIKE Jenny AT ALL and he has been VERY VOCAL about this. Who can blame him??? H-o-n-e-y…I would feel the same way. BTW, where Mark’s dislike of Jenny is concerned, I now have AN EVEN BIGGER RESPECT for Mark…LOL!!!!! Yep.
3. More and more, as time went on, Sherri ended up talking about herself (and other things pertaining to her) WAY TOO MUCH!!!!! When they were each on there, THANK GOD Joy Behar, Lisa Ling and (my FAVORITE!!!!!) Meredith Vieira NEVER behaved that way. Oh, how I miss Joy, Lisa and Meredith!!!!! To me…THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!!! Yes.

I remember that episode. Looking back on it now, apparently, Sherri hated being caught off-guard like that. Harry, I gotta tell ya’…as an actor, Russell Brand is not my CUP OF TEA. But…I found Russell’s segment to be pretty LOL hilarious. BTW, I once read somewhere that Russell Brand is a NOTORIOUS FLIRT when it comes to the ladies. He probably still is.

If they want a strong line up, they have to bring AMC and OLTL back. Only way for ABC to redeem themselves.
ABC does not own the rights to AMC or OLTL… and the costs are too high for production!! IT is also not fair to the actors -since they do not pay the same as they used to. Think they should cut GH back to a half hour and what they should do is try a concept show combining the soap actors into a new combined show.
GH is the ONLY show on abc worth watching! I watch Dr Phil, but I wouldn’t lose sleep if it was cancelled. They made a major mistake when they cancelled AMC/OLTL. They will never have the viewership they had with any of the crappy shows they think we will watch.

I don”t think they will bring back AMC or OLTL. Didn’t like when they had the soaps on-line. They weren’t the same,like when they were on the tv.. They lacked the good stories.
Honestly, I haven’t watched the View in years and the reason- I don’t care for the show or any of the hosts they had/have. All I can say is that they better keep their hands of General Hospital. The Chew has grown on me but those are the only shows that keep me watching ABC Daytime. If they take them off, I will tune out!
Why would you even watch “The Chew”? There are about 500 alternatives to watch on cable.
And even if you don’t have cable, I would imagine turning the TV off when “The Chew” comes on, would be more entertaining.

The only thing that is going to help ABC is bring back our soaps.. I will not watch anything but GH on that network if it took the place of a soap. I don’t care what or who they put on. I am a looooog time viewer of soaps and that is what I want to watch in the afternoons.. if I can’t get it there .. I will find it else where….
The View has lost viewers because a lot of people, myself included, vowed not to watch it with Rosie O’Donnell returning. We have stuck to our guns. Too bad because it was once a great show. Even Whoopie can’t overcome this major bad decision on the producers’ or networks’ part.
Think they needed to bring in Penny Marshall with Whoopi and Rosie! I think she would be the perfect “referee” or give the show more of a balance! Penny, Whoopi and Rosie with an alternating guest 4 host! That would be magic !!
No, if you read The Variety article it says that this season has barely raised the ratings from the lackluster ratings from last season when Jenny McCarthy and Sheri Shepard. This season the ratings have risen, albeit not enough apparently.
I stopped watching when Sheri of the world-is-flat club, and Jenny, of the ignorant but dangerous, do-not-inoculate-your-child club dominated the show with their silly and juvenile chatter. They never discussed important issues of the day–it all focused on celebrity gossip and on their own boring lives. Who cares?
Whoopi finally looks happy and relaxed, Rosie is tempering her view point with diplomacy and Nicole Walker knows her politics. I am not feeling Rosie Perez, however. I do wish Joy Behar would come back as she is very much missed.
I have not watched The View since Rosie left and am finally back to watching it from time to time. I know I am not alone.
ABC daytime is sure not what it used to be. For about 30 years I never watched anything on CBS or NBC because of ABC’s strong lineup. There was no reason to turn the channel. But now…they have forced me to explore my options. I never in a million years thought I would be watching Days of Our Lives…but I am now. My advice: return to the glory days of ABC. Bring back OLTL and AMC and go all out…make ABC daytime the place to be again.
It is sad, but the sponsorship just is not there and neither are all the viewers to keep the show going…. It costs the network too much to produce for so little of an audience.

I am going to disagree with you–slightly. I think you’re right that there’s no direct connection. But I do think there were probably some people who watched a full day of ABC, starting with The View and through the noon news (or whatever local programming) and on to AMC, OLTL, and GH. Some of those may have gone away when AMC and OLTL were cancelled–they were soap viewers primarily but tuned in to other programming just because they wanted something on and it might as well be ABC because that’s what they’d be watching in a few hours anyway. I’m not talking huge numbers–but then when the ratings are as low as they are these days in daytime, then even smaller numbers of viewer departures sometimes make a real difference.

The Talk on CBS is much better than The View, IMHO. Those ladies get along with each other and laugh and cut up. That is my kinda show. The View is always a bunch of arguing amongst sour pusses.
I agree with you there about The Talk–much better than The View. The revamped View is just awful. I don’t like any of the new hosts and Whoopi is just boring. I predict cancellation within 2 years.
I agree with you jacwooten, The Talk is a terrific talk show. The woman get along with each other, and Sheryl Underwood is a funny lady. The View has gone down hill, time to cancel the view.
I just wish ABC would wake up and put OLTL and AMC back on. How many shows have failed already that they put in their slots. So many people love those shows and they should be smart and bring them back!!!

OLTL was a fail, thanks to RC/FV. Now they are destroying GH, systematically. No respect for vets, lousy,lame s/l. They are their own biggest loudest fans. As for The View, aka The Shrew, it is long overdue for cancellation. A disgrace to women everywhere. AMC should return if they are smart. And DOOL is far better than what GH has to offer, in spite of how they manipulate ratings to make it look otherwise.
Whatever you want to say about GH (and I might agree given what a mess it’s become), in no way was OLTL a fail under RC and FV. It went out on a high note, with ratings on the rise (and better than GH’s at the time) and the show in pretty good shape in terms of storylines, etc.

Amen…GH was DOA when RC/FV got it in they pulled it back from the brink. I like the s/l’s. Is it illogical,silly, wacky? Yes..it’s soapy! They know it’s nuts. It is disjointed at times, but I haven’t gotten bored watch GH in 2 years. Side-splitting funny. I never did like a braggart, but if as long you produce & make me happy I don’t care of you pat yourself on the back.

I was unfortunate enough to see about 3 minutes of ‘The Real’……talk about a waste of air space!! The ONLY ABC show I watch in the afternoon is ‘General Hospital’, the rest are NOT entertainment. I, too, have begun watching ‘Days’ ever since they cancelled AMC & OLTL. Too bad, when they got rid of Frons, they didn’t have the foresight to bring back two of the BEST DAYTIME SOAPS ever!!

The View has become boring..I am 68 years young and prefer to watch “The Real” show. You are trying too hard to be upbeat with the dancing..etc copying other shows..The new set design did nothing to enhance the show. Also the new lady (blonde hair) should get some culture shock so she will know other things besides politics.
Seems like a mistake on ABC’s part. The View has been doing worse this season since they tried to make it “newsy-er” so they’re going to put it in the news division? Yikes. The View would do better lighter like a combo of lifestyle, gossip, and celebrity – think a mashup of the Chew, Wendy Williams, and Rachael Ray. Sorry ABC, but nobody wants to hear these 4 “great minds” pontificate on the issues of our day.

It sounds like the View is going to be an extension of those morning news magazine type shows which are more informational than entertainment. But this doesn’t bode well for the Chew and the General Hospital— fingers crossed I’m wrong about that, but this move makes me nervous.
Yup, they failed with “GMA in the Afternoon” (I mean, wasn’t the first mistake not calling it Good Afternoon America? lol) so now they’re trying to turn the View into a version of that.
Hey, as long as GH remains safe and well funded, ABC can do whatever they want with the View – can’t imagine ever watching it either was (okay I watch the “freak-outs on Youtube occasionally, lol).
ABC Daytime ratings debacle is a result of Frons and Sweeney screwing up big time by canceling AMC & OLTL. I still only watch GH on ABC and I’m sure most AMC & OLTL’s loyal viewers are doing the same. Since GH moved back to 3p the Spew’s ratings have fallen. Tyra Banks’ show will try to steal GH’s ratings by running into GH. If Ben Sherwood has a brain he will apologize to the soap fans, admit ABC was wrong and bring back AMC & OLTL.

Rosie Perez : is the biggest surprise plus . she’s …. so many superlatives to bring
her presence, her laugh, HER bringing her share, her Latina is big…. just a joy
Rosie O’Donnell : is still a force… albeit a little staid… and that’s good for the panel… she doesn’t have to overreach… her take is with. I laud her persona always
she has in in with the people that is still refreshing… she can bring people to the view
Nicole…. is not in the least off putting… she’s made herself endearing…. and yeah, it’s OK that she’s republican…. PLEASE VOTE PEOPLE

ABC must be completely delusional (again). Do the execs really think MORE news is the way to go? Look what’s going on at CNN, MSNBC, etc. ratings are awful. Add to that the abysmal failures of this network when it tried to replace our beloved AMC and OLTL with news/talk shows. Everything has failed – from GAA to The Revolution to Katie and any others, ad nauseum. There is only one solution to their dilemma and that is to bring back “love in the afternoon.” Keep #GH, bring back #AMC and #OLTL. I will never stop missing them.
ABC will never bring back AMC and OLTL as they no longer own them. They could bring back a new soap, now that would bring some love to the afternoon!! I love GH and have for 50 years, but I would follow a new soap too and I think many people would. The powers that be say that soaps are costly, I am sure that they are but maybe they should slow down on how many actors and actresses they have on one show. GH is very crowded and they have many stories going at one time..some of the people on GH are not needed to carry the storyline..stop bring on new ones and use what you have, maybe then you could afford a new soap the people would watch..The View is done for..move on
They never should have cancelled the soaps. ABC Daytime was pretty dang strong before they cancelled AMC and OLTL. By the GH is phenomenal these days. The writing, the story lines, the acting. Outstanding.
They have whoopie, rosie o, and rosie p on the same stage and they’re surprised it’s dysfunctional? I’m surprised there hasn’t been a knock down, drag out fight onstage.

I agree with you Sue. I don’t hardly watch the view anymore. I don’t like it with these new people, do not care for either Rosie or Nicole. Very boring. Hardly ever watch. I love Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Sherry Shepard, even Jenny McCarthy was better than the ones they have on now. I could not stand Elisabeth Hasslebach, but she did keep the show interesting. I also miss the soaps. They should try a new soap with a combination of OLTL and AMC. They could call it Llanview v Pine valley, or Two Towns.
I agree with another commenter ABC better leave their hands of GH. That is the only ABC show left to watch in the afternoon. I watched Katie some days as it was fairly good. That Chew needs to be cancelled as that is the stupidest cooking show ever with those silly clowns without an ounce of talent.
Some soap fans remain in denial. First off all The View has nothing whatsoever to do with soaps, it sinks or swims on its own. And they are in complete and total denial about the success of the Chew. It gets better ratings than the old soaps and it makes a ton of money. The show is actually pretty good, the hosts are great. I rarely have time to watch anything during the day but when I catch it I enjoy the Chew.
And the canceled soaps are not returning.
This show just makes me obese because all they do is cook and im just watching it and eating my sorrows away hoping that ALL MY CHILDREN AND ONE LIFE TO LIVE will return in its time slot. The chew is a BIG BOO!!!!
ABC had the BEST daytime lineup and ratings until they cancelled AMC & OLTL. They got just what they deserve.
When they ‘offed’ these soaps, I ‘offed’ their network from my viewing.
They should bring back these two soaps as close to their original format as possible and apologize to their fan base for their mistake.
What fan base? The reality is that networks care about 18 -49 and 25-54 demos. If you are not in either category you are not their targett audience. Since soaps trend towards the 55+ set they won’t come back.
They are too expensive and do not deliver the target demo.
Soaps in their current form will not survive much longer. It will take someone to revamp the genre to attract a new generation.

If we’re VERY lucky, ABC will lose what is left of their Daytime AND Primetime audience. When they cancelled One Life to Live they took FAMILY from me. I will NEVER forget and DO NOT watch ABC anymore and encourage everyone I know not to watch ABC or Disney either.

Well when I think of daytime t.v. i think of DRAMA…..THE SOAPS SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN CANCELLED!!!!!! The View, General Hospital, and Modern Family is the only thing I watch on this network. If they would bring back the soaps and add newer dramas then the network would WORK!!!!
I have to agree with Christne, ABC did have the best daytime lineup and ratings ntil they cancelled AMC and OLTL. It is so obvious that ABC is not listening to the people that watch their station affiliate. We are the ones at home all day watching television. You took away what we enjoyed watching and told us to like it or leave it. Close to 100% chose to leave it and watch something else. ABC got what they deserved!!!!!
I hardly watch the view since Barbara Walters, Sherry Shepard, and Joy Behar left. THEY KEPT it interesting. I think Rosie O’Donnel is trying to take over the show> Sorry about my punctuation , my computer is acting up.
I think Rosie Perez and Nicole Warner are boring. The view needs more life. Whoppi is ok.
Sadly it is too late to bring back AMC and OLTL. Most of the actors are on other shows, they have moved on. Maybe the could start a new soap? The talk shows obviously are not working. The cast of the Chew isn’t really that bad but, the show has no direction from the few episodes I have seen. Those shows belong on the Cooking Channel or Food Network, as that was would the channel was launched for.
Where’s Tadd Martin? I miss Michael Knight so much. It’s like I lost touch with my brother–I grew up with that character.
The view is no more of a news program than FOX Propaganda News..

It’s time for the rabid soap fans to realize that AMC and OLTL are never coming back on ABC. Ever. I used to be a soap fan but I am not anymore because I have been completely embarrassed and mortified to be one after watching certain groups harass everyone and anyone they think is in their way with ‘tasks’ that disrupt businesses. I have seen Facebook soap group ‘leaders’ put leading a soap group on their resume, as if its a valid job. I have seen the bullying toward people who disagree. I have seen the useless Twitter campaigns that continue on and are nasty in nature. The entire soap campaign was a joke and I think people who behave that badly do not deserve to get what they want. Not that it’s a realistic goal anyway, but they won’t listen to reason about that either, people are attacked and vilified for having brains and common sense enough to point this out. This entire ‘campaign’ has proven that soap fans actually deserve every single negative stereotype they have earned. I also hope GH is canceled. Carlivati has destroyed that show, but his little cheerleaders won’t admit its one of the worst shows on television, it does not deserve to be on television anymore and is doing about the same ratings-wise as The View.
Unfortunately, I have to say I agree. I loved OLTL for many, many years, but it was ruined at the end. The remaining soaps are down right bad – poorly produced, poorly written, poorly acted. People hang on for their faves and out of nostalgia, I understand; but they are objectively bad. ABC are never bringing back OLTL or AMC; and frankly, as a fan of both, I’m glad, because the network would just end up ruining them (again.) Daytime dramas are on their way out. All of network TV needs a revamp, since people simply don’t watch their TV this way anymore.
Anyone who thinks this means ABC will bring back AMC and OLTL, plain and simple won’t happen. If The View doesnt improve most likely they will expand Good Morning America to 3 hours then give The View slot back to the affiliates. There has been a lot of talk that ABC doesnt want to program daytime any longer and this is just one more reason for them to continue that route.

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)
It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.
The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.
Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST
Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”
Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”
Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”

The question of will Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stay awhile at General Hospital after his recent extended hiatus from the show earlier this year, has reportedly been answered.
TMZ via court documents obtained in Burton’s ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Sheree Gustin, shared that Steve actually inked a new three year deal with the ABC soap opera back in June.
That is significant because it was June when Burton returned back to work as Jason. In addition, the court filing confirmed that Burton had already moved back to California from Tennessee.

STEVE’S HIATUS AND HIS RETURN TO PORT CHARLES
GH fans will recall, it was back in February of 2026, that Burton announced via his Instagram that he was stepping away from his role of Jason Morgan for short break and pointed to wanting to spend quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton with whom he tied the knot back on May 17, 2025.
Steve expressed at that time, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.” It was back on March 25 that viewers saw Jason carted away by the WSB after taking the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) who shot then WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Burton returned to work on June 1, and due to General Hospital taping roughly six weeks ahead of air, made his on-screen comeback on the July 13 episode.
GOING FOR GOLD AT THE UPCOMING DAYTIME EMMYS
Then, Steve and his enduring fans got an extra special treat on the same day, when it was revealed on Extra that he was nominated for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.
Steve previously won in the Supporting Actor category for his work as General Hospital’s Jason in 1998 and as The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy in 2018.
Now with Jason and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship seemingly hitting the skids, plus Jason’s commitment to staying out of mob life to focus on being present for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), what does the future hold for the fan favorite character? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason and Britt Reach an Impasse; Is This the End of Their Relationship?
On the Friday, September 11 episode of General Hospital, Jason (Steve Burton) and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship becomes strained to potentially the point of no return.
Things take a turn when an unglued Britt having been traumatized by almost being killed by Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) asks Jason to back her up with the PCPD when she reports Anna for attempted murder.
However, Jason told Britt, he can’t. Jason shares that he does not believe Anna would have gone through with shooting her. Therefore, Britt was not in any real imminent danger. Britt is flabbergasted and hurt that Jason is refusing to tell the police what he actually witnessed for himself on Mount Emerson.

BRITT WANTS BACK UP FROM JASON
Jason counters that he can’t believe that Britt would want Anna punished. or sent to prison, or a mental facility after the trauma she endured while being locked up and mentally tortured while at Wyndemere.
He asks Britt, “How could you even say that you want her locked up or prosecuted for what she did when you knew she was being held prisoner and you did nothing to save her?” Britt is stunned by Jason’s response.
Coming up, official General Hospital spoilers share that on the upcoming Monday, September 14 episode, Jason confides in Carly (Laura Wright), while Britt is stung. In the video preview that aired at the end of the Friday, September 11 episode for this coming Monday, Britt says to Jason, “You don’t believe me. Do you?”
General Hospital head scribes, Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte previously teased in their fall preview of the soap, “Britt and Jason have come a long way and fought a lot of enemies to be together. But the most stubborn obstacle to their happiness isn’t without, it’s within. Decisions Britt made to stay alive while under Cullum’s thumb will come back to haunt her and may prove too difficult for this unlikely couple to survive.”
