The Young and The Restless Beau Kazer Dead At 63

Heartbreaking news hitting social media this morning. Y&R alum, Beau Kazer has died. The actor who for years played the son of Katherine Chancellor, Brock Reynolds passed away at age 63 at his home in Thousand Oaks, California on December 30th, according to reports.
Beau is survived by his wife Sharon Alkus who wanted to let everyone know just how much Y&R was a part of his life, and that he was very proud to be a part of.
The actor came on to the scene at Y&R back in 1974, and made frequent appearances over the next several decades. And as had been told by the the late Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) in her memoir, “Not Young, Still Restless”, even though Beau had played her son the show, they at one point had a romantic relationship.
Beau has changed his name over the years from “Beau Kayser” to more recently “Beau Kazer”.
Patti Denney, hair and make up artist at Y&R tweeted: “So sad to hear of the passing of Beau Kayser … Brock Reynolds on the Young &The Restless…Kay Chancellor’s son… rest in peace Beau.” Doug Davidson (Paul, Y&R) related, “He was such a loving, sweet man who loved life and the show. I will miss him.”
Share your thoughts on the passing of Beau in the comment section below.
Damn it, sad! I was just saying how he and Tucker needed to be back on the show and represent the Chancellor name. May he be with the “Duchess” in the sky! Sympathy to his wife and the rest of his family.
Here’s hoping the “current” writers will acknowledge Brock’s passing, also. Seriously, I’ve been a part of the show since it began and this past decade has lost all the “soul” of Bill Bell’s vision. Brock brought faith to the other characters, and given Bill Bell’s catholic school education, you saw it in Brock. You also saw it in Liz Foster, and the two of them were the two crutches Kay Chancellor needed to survive. I seriously wish Kay Alden (whom I met in Chicago when I interviewed Bill about the show) was back at the helm– the program needs characters who are nice, and kind– there’s way too much evil in Genoa City; the Midwest isn’t this bad!
I agree Ron. It starts with the top, then the head writer, then the veterans on the show who should or could fight to keep Y&R’s good name. The show is nothing like it was a year or two ago, let alone five.
Jeanne Cooper had an affair with this male actor she claims in her bio book she wrote years ago
I read Cooper’s book over Christmas and was shocked by the claim of having an affair with Beau. I wonder if he ever acknowledged it?
I saw that and was shocked. Either way I hope it was on the up and up? [I didnt read Jeanne’s book] They can have all the affairs they want now! Sad loss, he was a rock in that household. What do we have now, Jill? Uggg!
Was he married at the time of the alleged affair? Was Jeanne? Because if neither one of them was married, then so what if they had had an affair! I’m not saying that it is alright for people to have a sexual relationship outside of marriage. What I’m saying is they weren’t actually related. So if they did have a sexual relationship that was their business. I’m not sure why it’s so shocking.
Any ideas on how to change things? Or, better yet, how to get a tribute for Brock’s death? I also think if these current writers had half the brains of their audience, they’d do a Bill Bell kindof thing: have Jill now wear Katherine’s shoes and bring in a young gold digger that moves in on Jill and hubby– you know, history repeats itself. And, what’s with the music selections these days? Good Lord (Bell would write and characters would say.) Man, they need to view and listen to those 70s episodes to see what makes Young and Restless not General Hospital! Where is that moving music? Where is Gina– or someone who could reduce to tears with that singing power? CBS doesn’t know what they’re missing like we loyal viewers know what we’re missing.
Ron, when Kathrine died I had hoped that Tucker would come in and fight Jill for control of the estate and fight Victor for the company. Instead we had that stupid music box story. One of the worst stories EVER! If you are too cheap or dumb to bring back Tucker, and I liked the original, yes Ron they should have made Jill the new Matriarch and had Nina or an unknown heir roll through town and reek havoc on Jill. Y&R does cater more towards the middle age fans, more than GH, but not enough these days. Its weird because CBS has catered to older viewers for years in their prime time lineup. I hope they either write Beau off with a tribute or recast him and pit him against Jill. A good actor who is kind but fights for his mother’s legacy. [Sounds like Tucker!]
R.I.P. Beau Kazer
So sad! I always loved it when he came back on the show.
Me too.
My thoughts and prayers to his family.
Though I did not remember him very much, I did remember his latest appearance because he always referred to Katherine as “Dutchess.”
Oh noooooooooooooooooo!
RIP Beau!
So sad to hear this news. Another link to soap’s glorious past is gone. I always liked the character Brock and Beau’s portrayal of him was a big reason why. I wished they had made the character and the actor a bigger part of Jeanne’s memorial and hope the show will do something to mark his passing. Rest in peace Beau, and give Jeanne a big hug for me, you both are missed.
Oh, so sad.
Condolences to his family.
That’s sad. I always liked the way Brock loved his mother on the show. So sorry for his family.
Horrible news. Beau’s presence as the stoic Brock was always a comforting one. He was — in many ways — a patriarch on Y&R who always was the voice of reason to his mother, “The Duchess”.
He consistently gave solid, believable performances in every scene he was in; his calming nature standing in stark contrast to all of the craziness of the GC denizens.
I’ll miss him, but have many fond memories of his years on my favorite show. My thanks and sincere condolences to his family and many friends at Y&R.
perfect epilogue
“thank you”
this is tearful
the tenderness between Katherine and Brock reeled LOVE
nothing fake : the lioness in Katherine rested with Brock
I would shout from the mountain tops and to the heavens
mother and son are one
I have watched him over the years on Y&R and he portrayed a gentle spirit. To his family and friends, I am sorry.
RIP Brock, say hello to the “duchess”!
Soaps are families. As a Longtime Y&R viewer, I am familiar with Brock and how he referred to his mother, Katherine, as Duchess. When one of the family passes, it is sad indeed. How wonderful to learn he remained a champion of the series and the genre.
I loved him as Brock! My condolences to his family, friends and fans.
This is very sad news, Beau was always such a warm presence on the show, and I really enjoyed his portrayal of Brock. I absolutely loved his scenes with Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton, and I wished he was around more often! I think it’s important now that Katherine is gone, for her sons, Brock and Tucker, to return to Genoa City and make her proud by carrying on the Chancellor dynasty. Unfortunately, if Brock ever does return, Beau Kazer won’t be. I’ll miss hearing him say “Dutchess”!
Sorry to hear the sad news. He will always be fondly remembered as the easy going and kind gentle soul, Brock who he brilliantly portrayed for decades. RIP Mr. Kazer. You will be missed.
So sad to hear this news. Beau was always smiling and full of charm. He will be greatly missed.
He was a dreamboat I will miss him so much!
SO SAD…………WHAT A WONDERFUL PART HE PLAYED FOR SO MANY YEARS. JEANNE COOPER IS SO MISSED AND I HOPE THEY ARE TOGETHER AGAIN. THE DUCHESS AND BROCK A WONDERFUL STORY….

R.I.P. “Brock” You will be sorely missed. Sympathy to your wife and family. You were a kind and gentle man and always loved your Y&R Mother. I was always thrilled when you returned to visit. I’m sure The Duchess was waiting for you in Heaven! <3
Not to sound rude or insensitive here. Yes, it’s sad when anyone dies. But what are so many of y’all rambling on about him and the Dutchess being reunited and floating around in the clouds together. These were Hollywood actors with a 20 year age gap who had a sordid romantic past. None of you knew them, who they play on t.v. is not who they are in real life.
It just may be a way that fans are dealing with his passing. None of us knew him personally so we only have memories of what was presented on screen.
I think everyone posting here knows they are not their characters, but those who knew them as actors knew they loved the show, loved their characters and loved their fans. Both Jeanne and Beau would find fans imagining them as their characters reuniting in the afterlife as a fitting and touching way for them to say goodbye and meant to be a tribute to their legacy of work.
They may have only been actors, but for many viewers these actors through their performances and respect for their fans did touch lives. You don’t have to know someone personally to wish peace to their departed spirit, to acknowledge their contribution to your life no matter how small and offer condolences to family or friends who might visit this site. We all have or will be touched by death, it is a human experience we all share—
Hi Mary. Actually…no…I dont agree with you, Im sorry. I dont agree that everyone here does know or think that the actors are just the characters. There were a plethora of posts about how Brock and the Dutchess are now floating around on clouds, hanging out together, being reunited, etc. Thats just messed talk. People who are dead are dead. They are in the ground. They are not whimsically floating around on clouds. If people put half as much time and concern into their real families as they did into these fake ones, we would have a much better society.
Okay now I think I understand— your issue isn’t with people believing these actors were like their characters, your issue is with the notion of an after life.
I happened to agree with you once we are dead our bodies are worm food, but fortunately I also believe we are more than our bodies. I believe everyone has a spirit, a soul, an intangible that makes them, who they are, and I do believe that does live on once our bodies are rotting in the ground.
I know not everyone believes that and that is fine, they will not convince me there isn’t more beyond the grave anymore than I could give convince them there is. The point is as you stated we should treat each other well while we are alive, including respecting those who believe different things we do and not judging others by our own standards. Thanks for the discussion, peace, and live well.
Hi Mary. I like your posts. You are very rational and eloquent. Yes, when we die, we are dead. The Bible tells us that. There is no conscious thought, or feeling, or feeling. It is.likened to being asleep. When Jesus returns, that is when.we are resurrected. There is no eternal hell, such a concept is not Biblical and has no truth in what we know of God, who is a Loving Creator, not a torturing psychopath. I meant no disrespect to Beau, or his fans. Like I said, it is sad when anyone dies. But “”fans”just sometimes go overboard and become fanatics.
This is so very sad. I loved when he came on the show. RIP Brock you will be missed. Now he’s with the Dutchess once again. Prayers to his family.
He had such a calming affect when he was on the show.
Another daytime loss for us. May he rest in peace and tranquility. My prayers are with his family at this time. He shall always be remembered as part of the Young and Restless daytime dynasty.
i was so sorry to hear this he was so good on young and the restless he will be missed by all
i have watched young and the restless sinse my son was born and tried to never miss a show again im sorry to here this my prayers goes up to the family
Prayers for his family. Everyone loved him. What did he die of? He just wasn’t that old.
I always loved his voice and remember him as a very gentle man. Rest in peace.
Once again, the light of another soap star has gone out. Praying for onscreen and offscreen families. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
I remember Brock from when the Y&R first started. I remember him playing the role of McKenzie’s dad, and of course as Katherine’s son. It was always so pleasant to see him return.
I loved hearing his voice, it was very unique! We were blessed to have been able to see Brock return for the “Duchess'” memorial. RIP, you will be missed, loved by many.
I’m so sorry I real like watching the show
Mac should be calling Victoria and letting her know that Reed’s grandpa has passed on, since Beau played Mackenzie’s dad on the show, and she’s married to JT now, Victoria’s ex and Reed’s dad. At least it will let folks know that he has gone.
Maybe they could say he had an accident while helping to build those homes in New Orleans, the Habitat for Humanity kind of thing he was doing for a while. Billy would be saddened, as he had joined Brock in NOLA for a while to do the work with him.
There’s a ton of people on the show who are still connected to Brock, so his passing should be mentioned. I wish they would do something, but I kind of doubt that they will.
My condolences to his wife, friends, family and fans. He was a lovely gentle man who will definitely be missed.
wolfy
Question. Will his passing be incorporated into the show?
So sorry to hear of his passing, really liked him and enjoyed all the times Beau was on the show.Really wished he would have stayed on the show, more than he did.He did a great job working with Jeanne Cooper,it felt like she was really his mom.My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
