Following the report from TMZ that ‘Young and the Restless’ alum Brenda Dickson (ex-Jill Foster Abbott) was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery on a person back on July 9, but later released on the same day on her own recognizance, comes word from Dickson herself.

Brenda broke her silence when she took to Instagram on Thursday, July 30 about the incident in which on the night of July 8, LAPD officers responded to a call in Hollywood were the former soap siren allegedly struck someone.

Now, Dickson shared her side of the story. “There’s a rumor going around that I slapped someone,” began Brenda. “TMZ emailed me the other day. Basically, I’m not going to say everything, but maybe you can read between the lines. Somebody wanted to get me out of where I’m living and they made a false claim that I slapped someone. Then, they reported it to the police and they’re connected to someone else. I won’t say who. So,  basically they arrested me.”

LAPD RECOGNIZING BRENDA DICKSON FROM THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

The actress claimed the police station was very familiar with the antics of her Genoa City alter-ego! “They take me down to the LAPD. Well, everyone in the LAPD knows knows who Jill Abbott is. They knew who I was, and they were telling me, ‘you know, go to the DA’s office,’ because one of the policemen had a gold watch and that was a little suspicious. So, I just went downtown and my case was rejected by the judge. So it’s over. I have no fingerprints. I have no record.”

Dickson continued, “That’s why I didn’t respond to TMZ, or anyone until this happened, because I knew this was going to happen. I’m still heavily involved in my trial and trying to get my property, and it’s not over with yet. That’s why I haven’t touched base with you. I just wanted to thank you all for helping me and standing behind me (because) I know a lot of you heard this rumor. One of my fans said, ‘Oh, good. I hope you gave him a good ‘Joan Crawford’ slap.’ I’ve never slapped anybody in my life. Love you all and I’ll be back with good news, I’m sure, about my case.”

BRENDA’S DUST-UPS WITH THE LAW

This is not the first time Dickson has had a dust up with the law. In 2007, Brenda spent several months in jail in Hawaii from a civil contempt order involving the divorce from her second husband, Jan Weinberg. She maintained she did not get a fair trial. Then, in 2009, she won her appeal and it vacated the judgment against her.

Soap fans first came to know Brenda when she was one of the breakout stars of the early years of The Young and the Restless back in 1973. Jill and Katherine Chancellor (the late Jeanne Cooper) battled for the love of Katherine’s husband, Phillip Chancellor (Donnelly Rhodes) and his death took their long-running feud to new depths that lasted decades.

Dickson’s initial run as Y&R’s Jill lasted until 1980. Later, she returned for another run from 1983-1987. The part was recast with Deborah Adair, Bond Gideon and eventually, Jess Walton.

Check out Brenda’s video below where she recounts what happened to her at the LAPD after she was arrested for “slapping” someone.

So, what do you think abut Brenda’s side of the story? Was someone setting her up? Did the LAPD know Jill Foster Abbott? Share your thoughts as it appears all is OK for Dickson as of now.

As much as I’ve accepted and appreciated Jess Walton, Brenda will always be THE Jill Foster Abbott to me.

The sheer number of living issues she has had for over twenty years is astonishing to me, and every single time, it is never her fault. But there is always one common issue at hand: her. Perhaps she should begin looking in the mirror before commenting and saying it was not her.

And on a side note, her dentures or veneers are not working well for her (as evident by her continued, very prominent lisp). Oh, and I am sure not everyone in the LAPD knows who Jill Abbott is. A lot of this just… does not add up.

In the unlikely case someone has heard of Jill Abbott in the police department, that person would not affiliate Brenda Dickson with that role but Jess Walton. Brenda is before their time. At the risk of sounding like an arm chair psychiatrist, I think she sounds like a narcissist.

Much more than a narcissist, she is completely detached from reality and has been for many years now. It’s sad on so many levels, including the fact that she’s altered her appearance so much that even if any current police officers knew of Y&R/Jill, they would never in a million years believe the person in front of them was the same actress.

Have you read her autobiography? It’s a trip. This poor woman is coo coo for Cocoa Puffs. I loved her as Jill but if she is anything in real life like she comes across in her book, I can imagine she is very difficult to work with on set. I feel sorry from her because she seems verry detached from reality and the publisher of that book should be ashamed of not even hiring a copy editor to clean up the text a bit.

I still can’t believe her book got published the spelling of names etc just absolutely awful . Jess will always be Jill to me I hope if they do write her out they respect her and let her end the story . BD is nuts just very sad .

Brenda Dickson was the best villain actor on the soaps, she had a very unusual acting method– she never really looked at the actor playing against her– gave a side eye masterfully. She spent all the years following playing Jill but never matched that role. She often talked of the misjustice life dealt her. Now I am going to go reread her book/autography. Y’all should buy it and read it too!! She really spills all kind of tea

I was going to say “Hi, Brenda!” but the spelling and vocabulary is far beyond Miss Dickson’s grasp.

Is that really Brenda Dickson in that Instagram video?

Her plus a filter.

So, it’s not just my cataracts?

Are she and Kirsten Storms related?

That poor girl has had several brain surgeries….so, Kirsten definitely has a medical reason for most of her severe problems.

You’re right about that, but I’m talking about the two of them looking alike.

I realize people appreciated her performance of Jill, but Ms. Dickson is seriously mentally ill and detached from reality.

It’s sad to read anything about her as she clearly refuses to get the help she so desperately needs.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Jonathan Jackson Shares Emotional Tribute to His ‘Nashville’ Leading Lady Hayden Panettiere

The entertainment world has been mourning the loss of Hayden Panettiere, who died on Sunday at the age of 36. Panettiere, who was so familiar to daytime drama fans in the roles of a very young Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live and Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light, also starred as an adult in the primetime music city soap opera, Nashville as country and western singer, Juliette Barnes.

Panettiere’s leading man in the series, was none other than six-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer, General Hospital) who played musician Avery Barkley.

The actress’ death is still under investigation in Greenville, South Carolina, now calling in the DEA  after the Greenville County Coroner’s Office said there was “no signs of trauma that were discovered that would have contributed to the death.” Hayden’s body was released to her family on Tuesday, August. 18. It is believed Panettiere died of an “overdose.”

WE GREW UP IN THE INDUSTRY

Jonathan Jackson took to his Instagram on Wednesday night, August 19 to share poignant words in remembrance of his Nashville co-star. “I have no words to express the loss of our beloved Hayden,” began Jackson. “She had such a bright light within her. She was a sensitive soul. Incredibly funny and witty. Amazingly gifted, with a great sense of empathy and compassion. We both grew up in the industry, although she started even younger than me, but we shared that. A silent knowing of how intense the struggles can be.”

Panetierre started in show business in 1990 at only 11-months-old, while Jackson was cast on General Hospital in 1993 as Luke (Anthony Geary) and Lauras’s (Genie Francis) son, Lucky when he was 11-years-old. Jonathan drew on the parallels in their lives for his remembrance to his late former co-star.

“She was an absolute joy to work with. Focused, spontaneous and brilliant,” continued Jackson. “The most important thing between friends and coworkers is trust, and we had this. Elisa (formerly, Lisa Vultaggio) and I both love and cherish her deeply, like our own sister. She holds that place in our hearts. My prayer for her every day we worked together was that she would know how loved she is, and that she would find the peace that she was looking for.”

WE LOVE YOU, HAYDEN

Sadly, Jonathan concluded with, “It’s not possible to express the shock and grief that so many of us feel right now. Our humble prayers are with her family. May God’s angels carry you to your place of rest and true peace. We love you Hayden. You will always be in our hearts. Always.”

Nashville ran for four seasons from 2012-2016 on ABC, and then moved to CMT for its final two seasons from 2016-2018. The actors on the show could also sing and like Jackson, Hayden had a powerful singing voice that was showcased in the series as well as her undeniable acting chops.

Michael Fairman TV previously shared more of Panettiere’s Guiding Light and Nashville co-star tributes here.

So, what did you think of Jonathan Jackson’s very touching tribute to Hayden Panettiere? Did you love them as Juliette and Avery on Nashville? What have you thought about the ongoing investigation into Hayden’s death? Share your thoughts via the comment section.
