Another newbie is heading to Genoa City.

Casting news out of Soap Opera Digest today informs that The Young and the Restless is now looking to find a young African-American actress to play the role of Mandy.

Mandy is said to be in her early 20’s and is a talented songwriter, described as someone “starting to discover her unique voice and place in the world.”

Y&R is in the middle of the casting process to fill the role.

Look for the actress chosen for the role to being taping on October 19th

So, any suggestions on who you think might be a good fit for the role on Y&R?  What do you think about the continuation of bringing new young characters on to the show?  Share your thoughts below.

Doug Davidson is a shoe-in for Mandy.

THIS!

We Don’t Need Anymore New People

CBS, SONY and Mal Young ARE Destroying This Beloved Show.

EVERY Fan Is Correct About This

And So Are People Who Have Been Responding To This Including Eric Braeden

And I Applaud Him Coming Out In Public And Saying STOP! Fix The Problems At Y and R

I’m Only Going To Say This Once.

The Young And The Restless Died When Jeanne Cooper – Katherine Died.

CBS Needs To Cancel The Show, Before Things Get Worse Like A Fan Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands……

Hi Kevin, Kevin here, lol…I agree with you on everything you said except I believed that Y&R died in 2006/2007 when they let Kay Alden and behind the scenes staff go along with the music department (Jack Allocco and David Kurtz)with the beautiful CLASSIC background music…THANK goodness I can still hear the beautiful background music on B&B…CBS/Sony, PLEASE listen up, us long time fans have been begging you to listen to us but you aren’t listening and making the changes that need to be done for this once classic show…it’s a SHAME what Y&R has become and what it is now…I will say it again, Y&R no longer feels or sounds like Y&R when Bill Bell and Kay Alden were over the show…

Y&R doesn’t need new characters Mal Young & CBS need to fix what they have broke

Mishael Morgan. Oh, wait

Yay. Another newbie. Can’t wait to see the next veteran shoved out the door. I’m disgusted.

WHY????? Mal Young can’t even utilize the bloated cast he has now – HE NEEDS TO GO ALONG WITH ALL THESE NEWBIES!!!

Lots of younger characters coming to Genoa City. Someone new for Devon or Nathan?

Its someone for Devon. Oh boy, he is horrible! Lets concentrate on the Abbotts and Newmans PLEASE!

Why don’t they get rid of Duh Yawn? He’s been on for a decade and still can’t act. I never understood what Hillary saw in that young man. Then we have DR Knat who walks around sans shirt while wearing a stethoscope, who also cannot. I also cannot stand Lily’s kids or the girl to whom Hillary played big sister. I like Neil, but he’s never on. At least Kristoff St John can act.

Oh Harry, how right you are. I never thought anyone could make me appreciate Devon, but Nate has done it. Are we really supposed to take him seriously? He simply has the answers to everything: love, sex, relationships, death, guilt, martial arts, Victor’s illness, pumping iron. Too bad he can’t grasp even the basic rudiments of acting. Ditto that awful Charlie and always beside- the-point Shauna. Can’t wait to see what new “character” they’ll foist on us next.

Actors that portray Nate, Devon, Charlie and Shauna give soaps a bad name!

Plus Nate almost never has his shirt on.
They are slowly putting all the vets on the back burner. Paul, Michael, Lauren etc.

I do not watch the Young and Restless anymore. Mal Young HAS RUINED what use to be a very GOOD soap opera. Not the first show that man has ruined. Shame on CBS as well…I have gotten rid of that channel on my tv.

Ok, this makes no sense! Kill off and banish characters the fans love and load up the screen with Mal Young’s new creations. Word up! NO ONE CARES ABOUT REY AND HIS FAMILY! I like Cait Fairbanks, but I could do without Tessa. I believe they are trying to bring the next generation forward. But, can it be done gradually? To be honest I don’t want to see five days a week of Kyle, Summer , Ray, Arturo and Lola. I know the suits want young and fresh, but is your target audience watching? Jill, Ashley, Jack, Christine, Paul, Lauren, Michael, Neil and Kevin, are still young and sexy enuf to drive story. And for Pete’s sake, give Jack a woman! A total waste of Peter Bergman’s talents! Time to listen Mal and CBS, unless cancellation is your plan?

I care about Rey and his family. I find them a breath of fresh air. I’m sure there are others like me who are tired of seeing the same couples go round and round endlessly. Y&R is a show desperate for new blood. On the opening credits today, the youngest cast members shown were mid-40s. That’s not sustainable for a soap opera long-term — especially one called “The YOUNG and the Restless.”

Hey, ain”t nothing wrong with young and yes, you do need the next generation for a show to go forward. But, it should also be inclusive of the other talents on the show who happen to be over the age of 40. That’s all I am saying.

In total agreement with you , recycling the same people repeatedly . The veterans don’t have to go they can be integrated into the story lines. I love Rey and his family

HEAR HEAR!!!

Davetta Sherwood!the 2nd lily.
Days rehires actors all the time for other roles, why cant y n r do the same?
She was an excellent lily, imo even better than the original..and now with Christell on recurring the time is perfect.
I dont think they even should ve let her go the first time! She was a hit with fans. Now the ptb can correct a wrong

I loved Davetta – she was great as Lily!!!!

I imagine Mandy will be Devon’s new love interest, I’ve been reading about. Hopefully he can take down his shrine to St.Hilary.

Good!I like new characters I like new everything.
New keeps everything fresh and brings new stories..
Y&R is gathering a YOUNG cast..
It is the Young and the restless so it stands to reason Young people are need..
When Y&R started near 50 years ago many of the cast Was young.

It will be good, time moves on..

In case you haven’t been following, Mal Young’s so-called attempt to bring “new” and “fresh” characters in for his LAME AS HELL stories is driving viewers away – nearly a half million!!!

Hey Suoo, I know you love Billy. What did you think of today’s scene featuring Billy hitting the sheets with Summer. On one hand, it kind of sickened me but on the other, they were kind of hot. I had no idea that they could generate that kind of steamy chemistry.

hi Harry 🙂

ahh the I’m hurt make me feel better sex can be quite raw, it’s pure sex not emotional just a feel good moment.
but- it wasn’t in a crypt LOL

No doubt Sharon’s feel good sex will be with Rey..
and-
Phyllis feel good sex will be with Jack ..

Y&R sex is like musical chairs lol ..they will make the sex rounds so everyone will feel better and create a lot of soapy problems..
They always seem to end up with whom they started with.

but yes!! Summer and Billy was Hot..
Billy is hot with whomever he is doing the nasty with 😉

ENOUGH ALREADY. No more casting news. Bump up the story on current characters. Clearly this character is like every other new character with a voice that requires Devon to discover it and nuture it and then sleep with it.

Can’t Devon discover her in a nightclub but this woman already knows she has a voice but hasn’t gotten the break?!! We already had dull Tessa’s “I can’t believe you believe in me story”.

I am tired of Messa and don’t feel she’s worthy of Mariah.

Oh, God…NOT ANOTHER NEW CHARACTER!!!!! It’s bad enough that they cut longtime veteran Doug Davidson loose. But yet another new character…NO, NO AND MORE NO!!!!!

Later.

Again, Doug Davidson was NOT fired. He’s simply not a regular cast member, which means he is not guaranteed X amount of episodes per year.

This show will soon be unrecognizable!
The sooner Mal Young and his Merry-Band-of-Show-Killers is GONE, the better off everyone will be!
