The Young and the Restless Debuts New Opening Title Sequence
As a kick off to their 50th anniversary, The Young and the Restless debuted on Thursday’s episode (in the U.S.) their new opening title sequence.
According to a rep from the show, the revised look credits will be the on-going opening of the show, past the bicentennial celebration story arc currently airing on the CBS daytime drama series.

The new look title sequence adds a downtown and cityscape to Genoa City, including having Jabot, one of GC’s most prominent imminent companies in town, featured atop a building.
In the new sequence, the cast are featured going from black and white – to color in a gold tinge – with a red, seemingly more gothic look, lower-third displaying their names.

Throughout its 50 years, Y&R’s has delivered some of the most classic opening title sequences in the history of soap opera. How do you think this one stacks up?
Below, check out the first two editions of the new opening title sequences featuring different cast members that aired in Canada, with the second one which includes a tease of the opener of today’s U.S. episode.
Now let us know, if you give the Y&R’s new opening title sequence a thumbs up, thumbs down, or are you neutral on it, via the comment section.
Start at
This new opening title sequence is one of the better ones I’ve seen. Thankfully we don’t have to see Michelle Stafford’s legs anymore. That was the bane of my existence.
I think this opening sequence is really bad. No one is smiling! It’s just awful and the women’s hair..so messy. Y&R can do better.
The hair was fine not messy
I like the respect given showing the actor’s names. Wish GH would slow down the opening, showing less people per episode and put the actor’s name. Though YR’s is pretty slow. Something between YR’s 8 people and GH’s 24 people!
My guess in GH opening is that they put the cast on the show that day.
That is true for the most part – especially with recurring cast. Some non-appearing contract cast are added if 24 won’t be on that day. Still think GH can put less people, slow it down, and add names.
The characters that will be featured each day are in the opening credits
Oh, they’re still there, just joined by a male companion.
And his pants are too short
I agree a great new opening!
I think she’s still one of the 2 shadowed people walking
That is Michelle in opening credits..I just dont know whose with her
That’s Victor
The opening sequence is well done except for the font used for the names. Looks out of place.
Agreed. The red font is weird and out of place. Not crazy about it.
The new opening is superb. I’m so grateful that the theme song remained intact, not re-arranged or shortened. The wink from Eric/Victor is perfect perfection. Does this show his adoration of the show and the fans or what!! I melted right away.
leroy davidson,
At least he’s not shaking his stupid fist as he’s been doing in almost all scenes.
I like the new opening overall, it was definitely time for an revamp. But the fade from greyscale to colour seems unnecessary. I hope this one gets more frequently updated than the old one did!
I like that the stars are wearing their outfits from the GC bicentennial celebration, and I also like their names, but I do not like the red font. Hopefully they will change that within the next decade of time.
I yawned looks boring
OK, by current standards (though I agree the Y&R red for the names is out of place and the formal wear is a bit over the top when what their characters would normally wear would better represent the story) but nothing . . . NOTHING . . . can ever beat the original collage of watercolor portraits that really was fresh 50 years ago.
Now they have a to attack Michelle Stafford’s legs . Which I enjoy. Anyway I love the new opening it’s looks great ❤️. Keeping the iconic music is the most important thing regardless. Wonderful ❤️. Happy 50th anniversary Young and Restless ❤️.
Love The New opening, looks great ❤️ Happy 50th anniversary To The Young and Restless ❤️. Keeping the iconic music is the most important thing.
That font is horrible!! Not at all classy like the show, cast or what’s happening behind the words. I understand wanting to bring focus on the actors names but it gives me the feel of the opening credits of a horror film.
My thoughts exactly. Please loose the jagged blood red font!
Fabulous new opening! I dislike the red and the font on names but the rest is beautiful! Nice to see Christian LeBlanc with his beautiful gray hair! Well done Y&R from a 50 year fan!
I loved the new opening. A good update to the last one.
I like pretty much everything about the new opening — and I’m fine with the red font everyone else dislikes. I particularly like the fade from B/W to color. I hope they keep this batch more up to date as time rolls on and include more characters; they really let their intros get out of date with cast changes.
I have watched for a lot of years on and off I am done !
Bye
I like the new opening credits. We’ve had the old one for too long. Who is the couple walking in the credits?
I think… Michelle and Joshua
Where is everything about Phyllis and Stark and the GAlA? Didn’t think it would be over so soon.
If you want to watch all the opening intros over the years this clip is great!
I love the new opening. It’s time it was changed.
I like the new opening. So glad you kept the same music. It is iconic with the show. Always liked the way y’all show the cast pictures. Keep it around. Who is the male in the opening that walks with Phyllis.
The guy in the new silhouette at the beginning intro. I’m wondering if it’s Tucker McCall??

DAYS Lauren Koslow Temporarily Fills-In for Jess Walton as ‘The Young and the Restless’ Jill Abbott
In a ironic twist, Lauren Koslow, who currently plays Kate Roberts on Days of Our Lives is returning to The Young and the Restless to play Jill Abbott while temporarily filling in for Jess Walton. Koslow will appear for five episodes beginning on Thursday, June 25.
Koslow first appeared on The Young and the Restless back in 1984 in what was her first soap opera role when she was cast as Lindsey Wells. Now, she returns decades later subbing for Walton, who due to a scheduling conflict, was was unable to travel to Los Angeles when the storyline called for Jill. The Emmy-winning Walton has played the Jill since 1987 and went on recurring status with the show in 2012. Jess also left Los Angeles to reside in Oregon in 2011.
Making this all the richer, was the original Jill played by Brenda Dickson often shared scenes with Koslow’s Y&R character. Lauren played Lindsey Wells until 1986, before moving over to The Bold and the Beautiful as Margo Lynley. Koslow was B&B’s Margo from 1987–1992, and again in 2002. Then, in 1996, she was cast on Days of Our Lives as Kate Roberts, replacing Deborah Adair, and she has been in Salem ever since.

THE DAYS AND Y&R CONNECTION
As soap fans know, Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless are both part of Sony. Y&R is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television, while DAYS is owned by Corday Productions and distributed by Sony.
So, having Koslow visit The Young and the Restless to fill in for Jess Walton has nothing to do with her continued role of Kate on DAYS. In fact, a rep for the show shared that her upcoming appearance on Y&T, “does not affect her status with the show in any way.” Recently, Stacy Haiduk reprised her role of Patty Williams on Y&R, even though she is still being seen as Kristen DiMera on DAYS.
In a joint statement offered up to TV Insider, executive producer, Sally McDonald and head writer, Josh Griffith expressed, “We’re extremely grateful to Lauren Koslow for returning to her Y&R roots and temporarily stepping into the role of Jill. We want to extend our sincere thanks to Ken Corday (executive producer) and Noel Maxam (co-executive producer) at Days of Our Lives and Peacock. Their support embodies the collaborative spirit of the daytime television community.”
McDonald and Griffith clarified that Jess Walton is forever their Jill and shared, “Jess Walton is an enduring cornerstone of Y&R. We look forward to welcoming her back to Genoa City as her schedule permits and celebrating her extraordinary 40th anniversary as the iconic Jill Abbott.”
