The Young and the Restless Fan Event 2019 Photos, Tidbits & Teases

Photo: HutchinsPhoto.com

On Sunday, The Young and the Restless hosted their every two-year fan event for their die-hard faithfuls and beloved fans who came from across the globe and the U.S.  Fans representing Australia, Canada, France, and Switzerland showed the depth of how Y&R has reached a worldwide audience as well as domestically.

Presiding over the cast introductions were Daniel Goddard and Melissa Ordway.  Several tidbits were announced from the stage as well including that: Melissa Claire Egan’s first airdate back as Chelsea is set for this Friday on the June 28th episode of the CBS sudser.

Jess Walton revealed to the audience that though she took July off, she will be back in August for a run of shows meaning that viewers will see a lot more of Jill Foster Abbott in the months to come. In addition, Jess said that Daniel Goddard mentioned that her jacket reminded him of the Sound of Music, which provided a laugh for the crowd.

Tammy Diamond was one lucky fan when her name was called from the stage as the winner of the raffle that has the winner getting a Y&R character named after them, or mention in an upcoming script.

Not in attendance were Marla Adams who was dealing with a health issue, but Beth Maitland said she had a message from her on-screen mother to thank everyone for their support of the Alzheimer’s storyline on Y&R.  Jason Thompson, Amelia Heinle, Joshua Morrow and Tracey E. Bregman all had prior commitments and could not attend the event, but everyone else from the cast was there and the fans were thrilled to see them up close and personal,

In an emotional moment, Doug Davidson thanked the fans for willing him back to the show and back on-contract. Laurelee Bell also thanked the fans for if it were not for them, none of them, nor the show would still be on the air.

When Melody Thomas Scott and Eric Braeden took the stage to address the crowd, Braeden said that while Victor is having health issues on-air, he is just fine squelching any rumors. The iconic duo also noted that they were very happy with the regime change of EP Tony Morina and head writer, Josh Griffith leading Genoa City right now.

In a fun moment, Sharon Case took to the stage with her on-screen love interests, Mark Grossman and Jordi Vilasuso, but the trio found themselves auctioning off “Shick” scripts to the winners!

Kate Linder got into the audience as the fan event auctioned off a set visit to Y&R, and as it turned out, two fans won set visits each bidding $5000 for the opportunity.

OK– The Young and the Restless needs to change its title/Name.. Most all these pictures are of Senior Citizens. Now- I luvs them all, great actors and characters, but- they are not young nor restless.lol When Y&R started, they were young, but time moves on. To be in the classification of young is to be 30 and below. Now 40 is said to be the new 30 so can push it up to a squeaky 40. A new title is needed, indeed. I will be thinking of a new one.. Anyways– having a two-year fan event is a good thing.… Read more »

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: What Did You Think of Victoria and Ashland’s Wedding? (PHOTOS)

Friday’s episode of The Young and the Restless brought with it the vows and the “I do’s” of Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi), and the couple are now officially married.  However, pangs of guilt, emotion, and ‘how to solve a problem like Ashland’ also filled the ceremony.

Leslie Brooks (Janice Lynde) played the piano, Tess (Cait Fairbanks) sang a song, and Victoria came down the aisle with her father, Victor (Eric Braden).  It was actually the moments between Eric Braeden and Amelia Heinle that were the emotional high points as you could see the love between the characters, and the actors.

With the nuptials in Tuscany, which brought Hunter King and Michael Mealor’s characters of Summer and Kyle back into the mix, along with Janice Lynde, Victoria was said to never look more beautiful and she chose, after all of Sally’s (Courtney Hope) machinations, to actually wear the dress Sally designed, which was a smash!

The drama came from what was Gaines (Jamison Jones) going to do and what ammo did he have to bust up the nuptials in his revenge against Ashland.  Nick (Joshua Morrow) comes upon him in a upstairs terrace room, and instead of helping him stop the wedding, he actually locks him in the room.

Nick then has a decision to make …. does he stop the wedding, which he knows his sister would never forgiven him for (he was already uninvited to the nuptials), or bust open the situation?  It is none other than Adam (Mark Grossman) that tells Nick to look at Victoria before he makes his move saying, “She’s happy. Do you really want to be the guy who wipes that look off her face on what should be the best day of her life?” Just then, Ashland and Victoria become husband and wife, They kiss as everyone in attendance applauds.

Throughout the wedding, another highlight was every time the camera would pan to Billy.  His face said it all as it was exceedingly and increasingly hard for him to watch Victoria marry another man, let alone Ashland. Jason Thompson played those moments to perfection. After the wedding, Billy goes up to the newlyweds and wishes them well.  During the ceremony, he received a text from Gaines, but did not read it.  When he later opens it, there is a video attachment.

Meanwhile, back in the upstairs room, Gaines is confronted by Nick, Adam, and Victor, who Adam alerted to the situation; instead of calling security, which Nick asked him to do.  A stern Victor tells Gaines that he’s still a threat to Victoria and her company, and he won’t allow that to happen.

When we go back to Billy, who is now with Lily (Christel Khalil), he looks shocked by what he just saw in the video message from Gaines.  He shows it to Lily saying: “He (Gaines) just sent us a video of himself detailing all of Ashland’s crimes including the evidence.” Lily knows this is huge news! Billy tells her that if they don’t publish within the hour, Gaines is going to send it around to other press outlets.  When Lily asks, “What should we do?”  The camera pans to Billy looking at Victoria and Ashland, where Victoria is smooching with her new hubby.  Billy looks very concerned and very torn. Will he be the person to break the backstory of Ashland and his crimes including the forged will and his conniving for Camilla Rhodes’ fortune… or will he not do anything with the intel to save his enduring relationship with Victoria?  We fade to black.  Tune-in Monday.

So, what did you think of the wedding of Ashland & Victoria? Share your thoughts in the comment section, but first, check out some of the moments and looks from the wedding in front of the camera and behind the scenes in our photo gallery below.

48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards: Photo Gallery and Acceptance Speeches

Last night on the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, viewers watched a hybrid-broadcast for the annual kudofest as the world is coming out of the coronavirus pandemic.

While the acceptance speeches, and presenters were pre-taped along with the previously seen red carpet footage, no one knew who the winners were till last night, because all of the nominees taped a speech.  The virtual ceremony combined remote presentations and remembrances, with host, Sheryl Underwood presiding over the ceremony on a soundstage and introducing presenters to the stage, as well.

Photo: NATAS/CBS

Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS said of the event on Friday night: “We honor the Daytime community for helping us find our way through the turbulence of the pandemic, increased racial unrest and the chaos of the presidential election as America faced one of its most trying years in our history. This evening celebrated not only the best programming and performances of this year but reflected on some of Daytime’s biggest icons that have left an indelible mark on our medium.”

Streaming service Netflix was actually the evening’s big overall winner with seven Emmys. NATAS had called this production and event a “transition” event after shooting much of it on a set, as they look to bring back the live event feel for next year, since the broadcast had already received a two-year commitment from CBS.

While the late Alex Trebek and Larry King were remembered and also won awards posthumously, Regis Philbin was also honored by his longtime co-host, Kathy Lee Gifford.  Then, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Diamond White (Paris) performed a song during the In-Memoriam segment.

You can check out some of the acceptance speeches from Daytime Drama winners: Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy, B&B) Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH), Max Gail (Ex-Mike, GH), Marla Adams (Ex-Dina, Y&R), and Frank Valentini (EP, GH) below our photo gallery of some of the backstage moments that were captured during portions of the pre-taped ceremony.
