THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Gloria Returns To Genoa City & Turns The Baldwin/Fisher Christmas Upside Down!

Courtesy/CBS
Isn’t it fabulous to see scene-stealer Judith Chapman (Gloria) back in action! Thank you, Sally Sussman!
On Wednesday’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Gloria stuns Michael (Christian Leblanc) and Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman) when she pops out of a Christmas present!
The hilarity ensues when Kevin (Greg Rikaart), Chloe (Liz Hendrickson) with Bella tow arrive and are greeted by Glo! Mama bear has continued choice words for Chloe and Kevin. She thinks that Chloe is up to something, and she wants to know who is Bella’s biological father! The two trade barbs where Gloria lets Chloe have it below the belt with her time in the mental ward!
Michael begins to make sure everyone is liquored up to deal with Gloria’s return. Esther (Kate Linder) arrives and has to deal with Gloria. Chloe leads Esther away and Kevin lectures his mom, who then lectures Michael about Kevin and letting Chloe get her claws back into him.
Seeing Judith Chapman back on Y&R is a delicious Christmastime treat that will continue to give fans in the episodes to come much to talk about, and it gives even greater story to the often back-burnered Baldwin/Fisher clan.
So, what did you think about Gloria’s arrival, and seeing Judith Chapman back on Y&R? Comment below!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

I think she is great!!! Nothing gets pass Gloria and she has no guard on her mouth. She says what the rest of us are thinking…lol
Judith Chapman is great! Gloria’s expressions, her come-backs, her sincerity, her phrasing…Love her and hope she STAYS in Genoa City for a LONG time!
Is Y&R’s writing team righting the wrongs in GC? Gloria is back, Ester is back at Mrs. C’s mansion, others are falling into place. Getting better all the time.
I love Judith Chapman, so happy she is back on Y&R. Judith is a wonderful actress and a pretty classy lady. Welcome back Judith.
I hope Gloria kicks Chloe’s ass. Lol
Wow Y&R is getting good now,. Judith Chapman is a talented actress. Gloria is here to stay, that is good news. Rumour mill is Walt Willey ex Jackson AMC, will be Joining Y&R as Sharon’s dad. I hope this is true.
Wow where did you hear that wow
Wow. Hadn’t heard that about Walt Willey. I HOPE it’s true. Good get. YES, Y&R is definitely better and I am enjoying it.
Will this be the first time Sharon’s father will appear on screen in a story?
Yes if I remember he abandon Sharon and her mother all I know is Sally intends to fix Sharon she is very upset with them making her a crazy nut of the town. She did say a person would be entering Sharon’s life and I know she was not talking about a love interest this girl needs some family.
Such a breath of fresh air to have her back!!! Please make it a long -term contract with airtime. Great to have a distraction to a lot of the boring goings-on. Well done, Y & R! Love to see her go up against Hilary in some kind of story line or go the opposite direction with them and become BFF’s (just to benefit themselves, of course!)
Gloria and Hillary as BFF’s is a great idea. They are both not “above it” and will do what it takes to get what they want. Gloria could get into some funny situations working with or for Hillary. Nice one.
Mollie, great idea! Better yet, have Gloria replace Hillary as the GC Buzz hostess. Would Gloria not be a natural?
PS Love that all the comments on this blog post are exulting over the return of Gloria. Not one negative comment –how often does this happen?
I hope TPTB are paying attention.
Whatever they are paying Judith, DOUBLE IT, she is fabulous!
I concur. Boy, was she a sight for sore eyes. Not only was she fabulous, she made Lauren and Michael charming and funny again.
I laughed when the door bell rang after Gloria popped out of the box and Michael quipped, “Oh no. That might be a Jeffrey in a box.”
How wonderful that the return of Gloria is coupled with the return of this charming couple, Michael and Lauren–the Nick and Norah Charles of daytime.
I completely agree, Addison!
Gloria is back baby, I hope Judith signs a contract with Y&R. Sally Sussman thank you so much for bringing back Judith Chapman as Gloria. Jill Phelps was a soap killer, she only cared about her favorite pets, by that I meant Hunter King and Steve Burton. I am going to miss Steve Burton as Dylan. He grew on me, but he decided to leave. Thank God Jill Phelps got her walking papers.
The actress is priceless; the character equally wonderful. She not only brings back more of the true flavor to Y and R stories, but a history of great plot and theme (the Terrible Tom days were compelling and frightening.) I loved her biting comments the past two days, one to Chloe about “you were in town when Adam got blown up in the cabin” and her hilarious remark to Phyllis’ new hair coloring ” was that man right out of your hair.” Aside from her humor, she can really carry a chilling, heart-breaking moment… those John Abbott stories were terrific and I often felt sorry for Gloria. Great to have her back and great to have the Y and R I used to love to watch back again.
Great observations, Ron. Agree with all. Judith Chapman’s delivery of those “biting lines” is so good. And she can play just about any emotion. She is wicked, tender, sincere, snarky, funny, sympathetic and more. Obviously, I am a big fan of hers and am thrilled she is back.
“wash that man” … sorry.
Yes, it’s so good to see Gloria’s return and how the character’s are written since Sally and Kay have returned as Head Writer and Story Consultant. I so look forward to the month’s ahead to see what’s in store for all the character’s in Genoa City. I am so happy with Sally and Kay but I have to say that I really would like the classic background music to return to the show. I know that they have new people handling the background music since Jack Allocco and David Kurtz left Y&R which I hate that they left Y&R for I think someone at the top let them go…I really do think the background music since Y&R begin in March 1973 through out the show’s history is a part of the show and I hate that it’s gone. I really would like to hear from other’s that read this post on what you think and if you would like the classic background music return to the show? Thank you and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
No..real people have the tv on..radios and stereo systems playing as they go about their day or relax and unwind. Mal Young knows this works and in time you will get used to it. I cringe at the over done background music on Days and am glad this show is moving away from that over done melodramatic may as well hire an organ player music.
davlestev1, I appreciate your comment and viewpoint and I totally understand what you are saying about DAYS background music which I CANNOT stand and it’s very annoying. Days use to have great background music when Marty Davich was handling DOOL music score. DOOL background music is nothing like what Y&R background music use to be which in my viewpoint is classic and fits the show and adds to the show and not distract from the story lines.
I do not watch Days but GH has just been blasting the music so much that the characters have to shout to be heard. This is a problem when Jason and Sam have a scene because they tend to mumble. Moreover, the music GH plays is really annoying.
Addison, I actually like General Hospital’s background music along with The Bold and the Beautiful music score. DOOL music score is horrible and doesn’t match the story/scene. Like Ron mentioned, it has to be the right music for each scene and Y&R use to be right on track when their former music coordinator’s handled their former classic background music.
Absolutely spot on about the back ground music! I can hear to this day the dramatic guitar strumming sounds during very dramatic scenes and cliffhangers! It was amazing and has stayed with me all of these years. It would be lovely to hear those sounds again instead of touting current ‘recording stars’ (saying this VERY sarcastically to myself right now).
Happy Christmas one and all!
Thank you Haley, I am glad you agree with me for it has stayed with me all these years too…
Kevin, you have my full support on this! When I first met Bill Bell, he was adamant about the “right” music for each scene. I would love to have someone with the power to make such a change possible tell us it will happen! If anyone knows how I can make my request about the original music returning to the show, let me know. I will have a go at it! I do know that a lot of the 70s and 80s music was for “general use” by many programs, not just Y and R. That is why some of the best music was not recorded on the Y and R CD that exists today. But as you say, the classic return with Sally and Kay now needs the classic music in the background… and Patti Weaver!
Ron, THANK YOU so much and I so appreciate your support and I hope that Sally, Kay and Mal will see the request to bring back the classic background music. If this happens then Y&R will be 100% back to where it should be for I am ecstatic with having Sally and Kay back where they belong.
Ron, I forgot to mention that I totally agree with Patty Weaver too…Would love to see her back and what a beautiful singing voice.
Thanks for the early Christmas present, Y&R!! Seeing Judith back to her deliciously campy and outrageous role of “Gloria” is a gift that will keep on giving…. at least, I hope!! She is absolutely riotous to watch… hope her and Jill have a few scenes together… what a wonderful surprise to have “Momma Bear” back!! LOL
I adore Gloria,. Judith Chapman is a terrific actress. Judith is 65 years old, she looks amazing for her age. I want Gloria to hook up with a new man. She can hook up with Noah, that would be hot lol. Chloe needs to go away,. I hate her character. Kevin needs a new lady in his life. Chloe bores me to death. Phyllis I love so much,. Gina Tognoni looks great as a blonde. Gina is doing a terrific job as Phyllis. Loved her as Dinah on Guiding Light. They need to bring back Nina Webster, I miss Tricia Cast. The lady can act.
Gina T. as Dina on GL was simply fantastic. I loved her in the role. She is growing on me as Phyllis. So different than Michelle Stafford’s Phyllis…growing on me though.
Kevin needs a man in his life! That is one character that is so obviously gay. Please Sally Sussman Morina, this gay man and 32-year superfan viewer of Y&R is begging you to bring Y&R into the modern age and introduce some gay characters and storylines. We exist, and it would be nice to see us represented on screen. Bring back Lauren and Michael’s son Scotty as a gay character. Loads of storyline potential there.
As I had mentioned once before, at the time of Victoria and Billy’s last wedding, (when Victor jailed a pregnant Victoria), Victoria had a male lawyer who wasn’t that tall, maybe built like Michael, and I think he had a Spanish sounding name if I am remembering right. The point I am trying to make is that this person was gay, because at the end of the episode this lawyer character was making eyes at Jill’s son Phillip who if you recall is also gay. But after that episode, I don’t remember anything happening with them after that episode. Maybe now that Jill is settling into the homestead once again, maybe Phillip will come and visit mama for a bit and start a new adventure. You never know
.
Gloria what a wonderful funny lady, she tells it the way it is. No bs with her. Welcome back Judith to The Young and The Restless. Want to see more of Gloria, and less of Hillary. She is annoying and selfish.
I think they are working on explaining Hillary and her over the top annoying nonsense. I know Sally Sussman has the fabulous Jonelle Allen on a wish list for the characters aunt so I guess we’ll see..but she needs to be explained more clearly that’s for sure so we can appreciate her better. Even good actors need proper motivation..not just popping up and snarking for no reason but you’re the resident ethnic bad girl.
Judith is a gifted actress, Man did I miss Gloria. What a delight to have her back. Gloria needs to stay on the canvas for along time. Nearly 2 years she was gone, that should not have happened. Jill Farren Phelps should not work again in Daytime, she is called the soap killer and she killed off Maureen on Guiding Light. I will never forgive her for that. Days please don’t ever hire Jill or she will Kill Days off for good. Amen
Not to mention the blatant disregard for vocal fans..thousands of them..the reported bullying of creative staff and general blase attitude of the medium in general. If she’s lucky this year her door knocker will come alive and three spirits will show her the error of her ways.
It’s a Christmas miracle!
u r right and b/d miracle 2 and 12/29 ! im a gloria fan and have made a special scrap book of her pics she is a beutiful woman!
Welcome back to Daytime Judith,. Gloria is delicious to watch. I want Y&R to hire Susan Lucci ex Erica AMC to play Gloria Sister. Imagine the scenes together. We can name her Lisa lol.
Gloria made my day today, caught up on my episodes on Y&R. So refreshing to see my Gloria back on my screen again.
I know Tony..I stopped leaving episodes on the DVR..ff’d and used soap central recaps archives to catch UP and haven’t looked back from December 7th!! Now B&B..thank you CBS all access non commercial subscription..only at the Doctor out of nowhere blackmailing Ridge and getting mowed down by that Forrester delivery truck Ridge had waiting in the street..just kidding but it would have been funny. I CAN’T MISS THOSE EPISODES!! And now..surprisingly..DAYS IS CAN’T MISS..I keep up on those shows.
It’s great having her back!
What an entrance! A Gloria in the box for Christmas. LOVE LOVE LOVE that Gloria is back. And by Michael and Lauren letting her camp out in Fenmore’s room, hopefully her stay will wonderful adventure. I love how one of the first things she did was lay right into Chole.
Gloria hit the nail on the head with what she said to her. I wonder if the father is Billy, Kevin, or a soon to be named outside source. Time will tell. But its going to b wonderful to have Glorin the mix again. Jack is being his usual as of late obnoxious self. He wouldn’t even ask Billy to stay and have Christmas dinner with his sisters. Lest he forget, he did the same thing to his father. As the saying goes, practice what you preach. That Hilary is grating on my last nerve. You can’t win for losing with her. If I were Devon would throw her face in the snow. She is becoming more of an ungrateful bitch if thats even possible. She bitches about living at the club, so Devon buys her a whole condo complex and she whines and complains about that as well. If I were Devon I would shove her face in the snow to cool off her nasty attitude.
What I meant by practice what you preach, is that Jack of course has reason to be mad, but he should also remember he did the same thing and to think twice before he throws around hate and criticism. Not that I am condoning what either one of them did, but Jack doesn’t have any right to be self righteous.
But Soapqueen, it took John Abbott almost a year to forgive his son. Billy and Phyllis had a hot affair and enjoying trysts all over town including the family cabin.
It was not just a one time thing.
Traci and Ashely are being completely unrealistic to expect Jack to just forgive and forget so quickly.
WELCOME BACK TO A CLASSY TALENTED LADY…JUDITH ADDS SO MUCH TO THIS SOAP……PLEASE SIGN HER TO A FULL TIME CONTRACT……Y&R NEEDS HER..AND WE THE FANS LOVE HER…..
It would love to see her put hilliary in her place devon need to wake up and smell the coffee love Gloria she is awesome
Nobody can make an entrance like Judith Chapman. And what a year-end treat for us fans. I hope she’ll be the one to uncover Chloe’s lies answer set Kevin free. BTW, Greg R. has been looking so good recently. Apparently fatherhood agrees with him. I vote for Gloria full time!
For the next act, let’s have Gloria take Hillary down!
“I will never use this word, outside, this; one time”
I’m jealous
that’s not in my mind
it’s envious
oh you’ve got a good time
enjoy the fest
“Gloria Bardwell, I Love You”
Loving Y&R right now. Sally Sussman is doing a great job restoring the show. It hasn’t been this watchable in eons. How refreshing it is to see a soap’s history and characters respected. GH’s Passanante and Altman could learn a thing or twelve from her. If those two hacks had an ounce of SS’s class and talent, I might actually be able to stomach GH enough to start watching again.
Certainly if some characters are cut or placed on recurring, the 2017 budget will have room for Judith– on contract please! Anyone have suggestions who should. E cut?
Gloria’s return is another ornament on this year’s Y&R Christmas tree! I am so happy with the last couple of weeks. The show’s tone and moves toward creating a genuine community and strengthening characters, families, and relationships are so welcome!
Gloria’s return is another positive sign from the new regime.
The best change for me is the return of the ensemble scenes. Instead of another two-person scene, we get a room filled with people, conflict and folks each reacting. Breakfast at the Abbots. Everyone brawling at the ranch with Faith in the room. Devon’s family ready to rumble. Gloria disrupting the lives of others.
If you are as bored with Sonny/Carly and Nicki/Victor and the other two person scenes we are treated to three times a week for three to four passes over the course of an hour, then this style of writing is a tonic.
More, please.
Pratt had the right idea to put lots of characters together in a room. But it was always a ‘high stakes’ situation like a fire or something. This feels better.
The Gloria character is a Cartoon Character, for sure..
She’s fun to watch .
It was SO FABULOUS! to see Gloria back at Y&R. “Gloria’s back!” Yes, she is and it’s wonderful. Gloria is who got me hooked on the show in 2008.
Judith immediately brought the fun and zip to the show. Love her getting in everyone’s business and saying what we want to say. SO GLAD GLORIA IS BACK!
I love Gloria but until Jack showed up with his temper tantrum I loved the Abbott Christmas. Tracy coming back was super and that beautiful house decorated with the tree in the corner was just beautiful and Ashley & Tracy dancing was so cute. Although right now I’m annoyed with Jack I love that family and hope they keep Tracy on.
gloria bbott bardwell i love u u r a beautiful lady ! love those high heels!
You know who else would be a good Gloria if Judith takes a break? Eileen Fulton.
gloiria is my mama a bear!
