‘The Young and the Restless’ Head Writer Josh Griffith Kiboshes Speculation that Nick Newman and Sienna Bacall Will Become Lovers

For months, fans of CBS daytime’s The Young and the Restless have been predicting that through his downfall and addiction to fentanyl and painkillers, that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) would somehow end up having a fling with Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun).
After all, Nick does have a way with the ladies. Giving this further credence was the little story drop point of her past. Sienna revealed she had dealt with the throes of addiction with her brother, so viewers were expecting she could be the person to help Nick get to the other side of his dependency.
However, as viewers witnessed on the Wednesday, May 27 episode, and the Thursday, May 28 episode of the CBS soap, Nick is peril having collapsed and taken out by the paramedics fighting for his life. Now, Josh Griffith, the head writer of the top-rated daytime drama informed Soap Opera Digest that given all the circumstances, those expecting a romantic pairing or one-night affair for Nick and Sienna … it’s definitely not happening!

When asked about a Nick and Sienna romance, which would also mean Nick would be betraying his son Noah (Lucas Adams) who is in love with Sienna, Griffith answered with a resounding “no.” Adding, “Even in the throes of addiction, Nick is too good a father. He could never betray his son that way… Put that rumor to rest!”
Tamara Braun previously told Michael Fairman during a livestream chat with Lucas Adams on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, if she think’s there is any future for Nick and Sienna, given her Genoa City alter-ego is currently in a relationship with Nick’s son.
NICK NEWMAN AND SIENNA BACALL HAVE NO FUTURE AS ROMANTIC PAIRINGS
The two-time Daytime Emmy winner expressed, “I guess it would make for an interesting triangle, but people can have chemistry that isn’t romantic, and it can still become something really interesting. You know, like when you feel like you’ve met somebody before, or you meet somebody for the first time, and you’re instantly best friends, like, ‘How the heck are we grooving so well?’”

However, the head scribe teased that Noah and Sienna will have some more relationship troubles, but not from Nick, but from Audra (Zuleyka Silver)! Griffith teased, “their relationship will strengthen immensely as they deal with more fallout from Matt’s (Roger Howarth) intrusion into the Newman life, there will be, from Sienna’s point of view…. not concern, but defensiveness of Noah’s past relationship with Audra.”
In case you missed our recent chat with Joshua Morrow and Mark Grossman (Adam Newman) on the Michael Fairman Channel, which focused on Nick’s addiction storyline, you can check it out below.
So, glad to hear from Josh Griffith that a Nick/Sienna pairing of any romantic nature is not in the cards? Do you think that it could still happen down the line? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
GOOD! I wanted no Nick and Sienna pairing. My hope is to see Nick’s addiction be the turn of events that finally brings him and Sharon together for the long term. I do like Tamara Braun but find Sienna Bacall a very dull character. Sienna and Noah’s relationship do not seem believable to me. I think Sienna may be but a catalyst character, one whose existence serves to help along other characters’ stories. Sienna brought Noah home, helped launch (for better of for worse) the Matt Clark revival, and created an awkward triangle with Noah and Audra. Sienna Bacall reminds me of a now deceased Y&R character, Sage Warner Newman. There really was no story that was hers alone for the long term and she was dispensable, despite mothering the invisible Newman grandchild Christian.
I mean, both Tamara Braun and Joshua Morrow have palpable chemistry, so I would not be upset if it had gone there, but it is good to know it won’t.
Sienna does remind me of Sage. I am glad they aren’t going there with Nick, but Tamara Braun is too good of an actress to waste.
I guess Nick and Sharon rekindling is done before it even started?! Why hasnt Nick leaned on Sharon during his addiction ?! Why isnt she more present in this storyline?!
Its clear Josh Morrow isnt interested in Shick anymore, time for Sharon to get a new love interest, and Nick needs to stay far away!
The addiction storyline is a perfect and hopefully not missed opportunity for Sharon and Nick to reconnect. Do we not recall Sharon did finish education for mental health advocacy and counseling? It would be natural for her to be more involved and help her forever love. We would have a hint of romance again, something sorely lacking in Genoa City. This development would also provide Y&R to reset the Newman family. Nick and Sharon and their blended family of children who could have some compelling stories of their own. Mariah (struggling to find her place in this world), Noah staring over (again), Faith returning to GC to start her adult life, Summer (even for a short-term guest appearance), and Christian (just appearing on screen!).
Nick “fighting for his life” yet gets discharged from the hospital the same day ! Can’t the writers make it a little realistic !! I don’t kno anyone that had CPR performed on them and released from the hospital that same day ! Totally unreaslitic !!
I said this earlier to my husband.

‘Guiding Light’s’ Grant Aleksander Shares Heartfelt Remembrance of TV Daughter, Hayden Panettiere On What Would Have Been Her 37th Birthday

The tragic death of Hayden Panettiere last Sunday on August 21 continues to rock the entertainment world as her passing is still under investigation. Sadly, the former Guiding Light and Nashville star, died just days before her 37th birthday.
Now Grant Aleksander who played her on-screen father, Phillip Spaulding on Guiding Light a role he played on and off for nearly 30 years, shared a touching tribute with The Locher Room via Instagram, to his former TV daughter on her birthday on Friday, August 21.
It was back in 1996-2000 that Panettiere played the role of Phillip and Beth’s (Beth Chamberlin) daughter, Lizzie Spaulding. When Hayden was on-screen her performances were outstanding even as a little girl.

Aleksander began, When I think of Hayden the first image that comes is of her running down the hall in the studio with a huge, toothy grin on her face. Literally bursting with joy. And that’s what she gave to us. Pure, infectious joy. That and a talent that belied her years.”
“She was a natural with an instinctive understanding of acting that most adult actors can only dream of possessing. But that’s not what I’ll remember most about her. It’s that sunshine she brought to all of us that were lucky enough to be in her orbit that will stay with me, expressed Grant.
He concluded with, “I’ll always cherish the years I got to be her tv Dad. I wish I could have seen her one more time just to tell her how proud I was of her. She’s left us way too soon. We can only hope that she’s finally found the peace that eluded her in her short life. Rest in peace Princess!”
Michael Fairman TV previously shared emotional tributes from many of Hayden’s co-stars here, plus Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville) who wrote a beautiful tribute to his former co-star.
So, do you remember the scenes between a young Lizzie and Phillip on Guiding Light? What did you think of Grant Aleksander’s words? Let us know via the comment section below. Here’s just a sampling below, of how great Hayden was with her scene partner, Grant.
