‘The Young and the Restless’ Recasts the Role of Noah Newman with DAYS Alum Lucas Adams
Y&R’s Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) wasn’t kidding when she teased fans of the top-rated daytime drama series on a recent Instagram post that the show had, “More surprises to come,” on the heels of the news of both Roger Howarth (in an undisclosed role) and Tamara Braun (Sienna Bacall) being on their way to Genoa City.
Now comes shocking casting news: Another Days of our Lives alum is headed to the Sony series and to play the recast Noah Newman! According to TV Insider, Lucas Adams who played Tripp Dalton, the son of Braun’s Ava Vitali and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) on Days of our Lives, has been tapped for the role.
Adams had played Tripp on and off from 2017 till 2024 and along the way picked up two Daytime Emmy nominations in the now defunct Younger Actor in a Drama Series category. It seems very interesting timing that after Y&R let Rory Gibson go (the last actor to play Sharon and Nick’s son), and he has become a bonafide hit as the recast Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, the CBS soap is bringing the character back.

As to the whereabouts of Noah Newman, he was last seen on the canvas back in 2023, after falling in love with Allie Abbott Nguyen (Kelsey Wang), Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) granddaughter. The two left Genoa City together to start a new life overseas. Besides Gibson who played Noah from 2021-2023, other portrayers have included Robert Adamson (2012-2020) and Kevin Schmidt (2008 t0 2010, 2011 to 2012).

Look for Lucas to report to work at The Young and the Restless this month, and to first be seen on your screens later this fall. With the acquisition of Adams, along with Billy Flynn (ex-Chad DiMera, now Cane Ashby) and Tamara Braun, it looks like the CBS soap is bringing over stars from Days of our Lives with frequency.

Taking to his Instagram story after the casting news was announced, Adams simply said, “Cat’s out of the bag, let’s go have some fun,” and “Can’t wait to get started.” In an ironic twist, Lucas actually appeared on The Young and the Restless for one episode early in his career back in 2012 playing the character of Wesley, in a story with the teen scene at the time.
So, what do you think about Y&R choosing Lucas Adam as the new Noah Newman? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
I liked the character of Tripp. I’m sure Lucas will be a success as Noah, but will the writing be there? I guess I shouldn’t get my hopes up that he’s realized he’s gay since leaving Genoa City.
Good on him; he started on The Young and the Restless as a day player in 2012, so in some ways, this is him coming home. However… I wonder what the storyline will be for Noah, as this feels like a rush hire following Rory Gibson’s arrival to General Hospital as Michael Corinthos. The only times Noah had any kind of story was when Kyle Abbot was not on the canvas; maybe it could be time to play the bisexual storyline we never got from back in the day?
I’m sure he’s a great actor but I’m unclear as to why they just don’t rehire Robert Adamson or why they let him go in the first place.
I know right?
This show has had some of the most appealing, talented young men playing this role, and it never works! Why? The writers! This is the ultimate legacy soap kid! He should have been driving story for years as the lead of the younger set along with Kyle. Hopefully they will actually write for Noah this time around and not let him just fizzle out!
Great great choice but what is going on over there Tamara brawn Roger Howarth and now Lucas Adams it’s wild I hope they are actually gonna write for these people and who’s next Camila Banus!
Please no, keep her away!
I did like Rory Gibson, and do not know this actor, although I look forward to seeing him. But it doesn’t seem to matter how many actors they bring on to play Noah, they never seem to know how to write for him. Also, didn’t Phyllis recently tell Cane her son had opened a club in London and was doing well.
Loved him on Days
I hope Lucas has as much success on Y&R as Rory has found on GH. Rory may get the recast of the decade.
Rory fits Michael like a glove. Maybe Lucas is the same with Noah. It took forever to get the right kyle in Michael Mealor.
Im excited for this, i personally get annoyed with people saying Rory was wasted. rory himself said he doesnt blame the show for what happened, he said he didnt fit the role and that happens sometimes. I hope they have something good for Noah this go around. Audra is in for a shock
Why do you get annoyed Rory was being nice he certainly isn’t going to say anything against the number one soap yandr while getting his big break on gh ! That aside Lucas is a good actor and yes if they don’t write for the character it will be a waste and as for Audra the character can go !
Younger blood! Good move! Hopefully, they will give him good story. He has history with Audra. I hope they don’t throw him into her den!
I wonder if Noah will interact/reconnect with Audra.
It’s funny because I really like Rory Gibson as Michael but I didn’t like him Noah. I thought Robert Adamson was great as Noah and should never been let go. I think Y&R decided to go younger with Noah.and cast Lucas Adams. He’s definitely different looking than Adamson & Gibson. Time will see if Y&R writes for Noah which they not to. Time will tell.
