THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Preview: Billy Flynn’s Debut; Let the Games Begin During the Aristotle Dumas ‘Challenge’
On The Young and the Restless, we have heard the name “Aristotle Dumas” for months now. We also know that Dumas is supposedly the corporate name but is an alias for someone else. We also know that Billy Flynn makes his Y&R debut next week after playing Days of our Lives favorite Chad DiMera for the last ten years.
So, what is going on here … and what is about to go down? From the looks of sneak peek photos from the top-rated daytime drama series and their “Next Week on Y&R” promo, many of the wealthiest and most influential people in the corporate world of Genoa City are heading to the French Riviera at the invitation of Dumas.
To get there, there is apparently a train ride once they get overseas, and an intriguing array of characters who are either each other’s mortal enemies, or current or former lovers in the mix which include: Lily (Christel Khalil), Damian (Jermaine Rivers) and Devon (Bryton James), Sally (Courtney Hope), Billy (Jason Thompson) and Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) plus Jack (Peter Bergman and Diane (Suzanne Walters).

In the promo, Dumas’ assistant Carter (Vincent Stalba) is revealed. Jack asks him if this is “maze?” Carter says it’s the “beginning of your challenge” as Diane, Audra and Kyle look on confused. There is also a moment from Lily where she says, “I just have this weird feeling like things aren’t going to go the way we think.” Later, it’s clear that she is being watched through video surveillance while she is alone on the property. Also, take a look below at a set photo that is the “Maze Challenge Buffet.”

Many Y&R fans feel that in order to make sense of the build up to the story that Dumas, presumably played by Billy Flynn, will turn out to be a recast Cane Ashby (formerly Daniel Goddard) and Lily’s ex. Meanwhile, there was a key scene towards the end of the Friday, June 13 episode. In it, Damian came to say goodbye to his mother, Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford) before flying overseas. After he leaves, Amy tells Nate (Sean Dominic), she just got chills running down her spine. Is she foreshadowing Damian’s murder on the French Riviera? Is Y&R going White Lotus on us? Stay tuned.

In addition, look for Mishael Morgan’s Amanda Sinclair to be a major part of the story as we learn just who Amanda is to the mysterious Dumas. Is she really just his lawyer? Could she have married the guy?
Now below, check out the official Y&R spoilers for the week of June 16-20:
Monday, June 16
Victor reveals details about Dumas, Chelsea makes a confession, and Nate puts Holden on notice.

Thursday, June 19
Jack has second thoughts about meeting Dumas, Lily arrives at the party looking for answers, and Kyle falls into a trap.
Friday, June 20
Aristotle Dumas reveals himself to his guests, and Amanda’s real connection to him is exposed.
So, after checking out the promo and these pics, who do you think Billy Flynn is truly playing? Do you think we will see characters hitting the sheets, a murder mystery, and some major explosive showdowns? Share your theories via the comment section below.
Ok, when Cane Ashby first came to town, he was pretending to be Jill Abbott’s son, Phillip. Phillip and Cane would now be in their 50s. Cane was older when Lily, which I think Neil had a problem with. Billy Flynn is 39/40? Yes, they do de-age characters, such as Maeve McGuire on Edge of Night was replaced by an actress fifteen years younger than her. Sometimes it can be a little jarring. Lily and Cane’s kids are probably seniors in college now, which would make them 21. Just sayin.
Stopped watching about 8 months ago due to recycled, redundant and dull storylines. But I might give this storyline a chance.
I agree. I’ve watched the show since it came on the air. The writing has been TERRIBLE, I am so tired of all the fighting and – lines said over and over and over again. Let’s get some real life excitement and family interest going here. There’s enough doom and gloom all over the place. Plz don’t fill our SOAPS with it!
If I never, EVER hear the name Aristotle Dumas or “Dumas” again for the rest of my life I will be happy. This show has been like watching paint dry for weeks now. I can literally predict everything that will be coming out of any given character’s mouth. No surprises. I am never wrong unfortunately. In the words of Victor “I don’t give a damn” at this point who Dumas is. They have worn this out.
amen!
I am not excited. I do like the idea of taking many characters and inserting them into the same plot line though. Something happened in Genoa City the last few years. The stories are not very compelling. Sooooo many conversations about corporate machinations and backstabbing. And although major things happen to the characters, there is no lasting trauma or character redirect. As for this idea Dumas may mark the return of Cane Ashby just makes my eyes roll.
Agree 100 %
Truth
This is horrible news. Billy will turn into a zombie because YawneR is so boring.
I thought Michael and Lauren also received invites but they are not featured in the promos. Did I make this up in my head? I very much was looking forward to them being part of this storyline.
I think Michael told Nick he wouldn’t be going since he was invited when he still worked for Victor. Victor also made it clear he didn’t want Michael there.
I sincerely hope Dumas is not Cane. Couldn’t stand the character, particularly its portrayer (DG)
I AM sick of hearing the name and lookl forward to seeing so many of the cast in Nice.
He’s over at GH now so you’re safe.
This storyline has been beaten to death and we haven’t even seen this new character yet. I think JG thought that characters mentioning Dumas name aLOT over the course of the last several months would produce an increase of eyeballs on the show. To JG I say: EPIC FAIL!!
I think it’s time to switch EPs. Josh Griffith has overstayed his welcome.
TOTALLY!!
I am so sick of this story line. I turn the mute on whenever someone’s mentioning Dumal. I would much rather stick with Mariah so we can find out about her.
We can play a drinking game for every time a character says “ Dumas” ugh
If we played a drinking game everytime we heard Dumas we would all die of alcohol poisoning in a weeks time! Sick of it!!!
I have a question there was a period in time when I wouldn’t watch y&r how does Mariah and Cassie that died years ago look alike. And Sharon calls her daughter
So sick of this story line dragging out for months I quit watching it. I have many recorded but don’t even care to watch them. Who ever is writing this story line should be fired before the show goes down the toilet permanently! Get on with it for God’s sake!
I totally agree!!! I am soooooo sick of hearing “Duma’” name!….fir goodness sake get on with the story & don’t keep dragging it out….it’s getting bbbooorrriiiinnnnggg (boring)! Writers get on with it before you lose your viewers!!!! I for one do hope it turns out to be Cane Ashby!!!! ….and looking forward to finding out what he is actually up to!!!
Canes on another soap right now. Is he leaving?
Viewers have known for months that this is Cane…..not a real shocker. Also it’s hard to watch the great Michelle Stafford Phyllis, she goes everywhere in town to preach & whine, does she even have a home? She has no life of her own?
All of you are wrong. It is Jill. Why does everyone think it is a man. The only logical answer is Jill Abbott
Maybe Debbie, I didn’t think of Jill because she’s been having health problems etc. I’m sure Billy Flynn didn’t come on the show to work in Jabot’s mailroom? Or Amanda herself too
I’ve been thinking it’s Jill too!
We all see this new guy that’s about to show himself. But it could really be Jill or how about this. Miss Chancellor’s son Brock!
I really dislike Amanda. Snob and I think reveng.
I agree, don’t like this plot. It is very boring
I do need to know why Sally has turned into a cheap call girl? She dresses and wears make up like a cheap street walker. And constantly seducing Billy. PUKE!. Oh and Audra is not much better
This needs to be fixed!
Why can’t you writers for once not have slut Audra win at getting men in bed, give Kyle credit for shutting her down and not allowing Victor to win- by destroying his grand daughter happiness he supposedly loves. For once let Victor & Audra be humiliated you writers constantly writing same story over & over. Time to let Kyle show Victor – Kyle is committed to Clare – not always thinking with his small head. .
I’m so tired of Victor thinking he is above everyone else. He need to get off his high horse and come back down to earth. And he need to let the name Billy boy go. That is old now, along with how he act.
He is old duh!

YOUNGER GENERATION GETS THE SPOTLIGHT
Speaking on what viewers will see the week of May 18-22, Sheila Ducksworth, who is also the president of CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, shared to TV Insider, “These episodes are really like nothing that we feel like people have seen before. Yes, there have been cotillions on television before, but the way that we’re doing it, in the milieu in which it’s set, is just incredibly unique. It’s an institution that has existed in Black America for over 100 years, and it really speaks to legacy, it speaks to culture, it speaks to heritage, and also resilience.”
Ducksworth added, “Tune in because there is importance to what we’re saying with the show, but also just the sheer enjoyment of being able to see what one of these cotillions looks like and feels like. I think people will just be beside themselves; we definitely are working for that to be the goal. You’ll see a lot of stuff with the younger set that you haven’t seen before, and a lot of that plays into the cotillion and then beyond the cotillion.”
DANGER, DANCING AND SHOCKERS
However, Julie Carruthers notes that there is another major plot point about to explode, now that Jacob (Jibre Hordges) is close to nabbing Dr. Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) and company for the illegal blood plasma ring.
“We have the culmination of the mystery that Jacob’s been involved with and I’m not going to tell you much more, but there’s a big event happening the same night as the Cotillion and the Cotillion is also fraught with its own surprises and unexpected disappointments,” teased Carruthers to Soaps.com. “It’s a lot of eventful things happening all at the same time. Amazing clothes, the girls are stunning, the dance is phenomenal. The music’s spectacular. It’s a beautiful, beautiful event.”
