Have to put my feelings behind I think they could use some major improvement in the writing do not tape anymore but as Susan Sarandon says you get what you settle for from the move Thelma and Louise ! Wish it was memories behind us but number 1 it’s is different viewers now
The only deal that should have been made was to replace the Executive Producer and most writers. The show is not doing justice to what it once was. You may still have the actors, but the scripts they are given are well below par, and the storylines put you to sleep. It’s like the EP and writers show up just to get a pay check.
Bring back guiding light
Y&R is my “home show”. BUT Over the past years, I cannot stand it anymore. The ridiculous corporate musical chairs! The sacrificing of drama every time there’s an opportunity for story! Billy and Chelsea’s vapid psychology self help chats! Devon’s unbelievable lack of self awareness! Mamie acting like a corporate tycoon! Everyone living in hotel rooms! Adam and Phyllis’ never ending self redemption tours! Cops and doctors trading their careers for uninteresting corporate gigs as COO’s even though no one on this show is even smart enough to manage a dollar store! No one works, but everyone is an executive. Maybe this is more realistic than I thought!
Ways to redeem this show: NEW writers who respect the show’s history and Bill Bell’s legacy. Lauralee Bell is an obvious choice in my opinion. She grew up reading her father’s scripts. Heck. I’m a more obvious choice than who they have now. Bring back the melodrama, the background music, the beautiful sets, etc. I cringed when I saw Ashley in “Paris” in front of a fake screen. Omg! Also, corporate intrigue is a background for the action, NOT THE action. Watch GH and learn from whoever writes their dialog, instead of this inane vapid dialog we’re exposed to every day.
There is so much history and legacy to be mined to not be excellent. For example, the Eve story. It’s a great concept, and there are so many good points, but JG dropped the ball with too many loose plot points. Luckily, Colleen Zenk saved this from completely fumbling. Ashley’s breakdown has potential as well, but it’s rooted in fragile plot points like who cares what happened at a cafe in Paris in front of a fake Eiffel Tower! So I have zero confidence this storyline will be executed well.
While I am glad the show is renewed, I’m also like why bother since the show runners aren’t creating a quality product that honors the fans and Bill Bell’s legacy. In closing, who cares about Connor’s OCD! Half the people I know have OCD!
