THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Sharon and Dylan Hit The Sheets! Fen Explains His Part In Scooby-Doo Murders!

Courtesy/CBS
On Friday’s episode of The Young and the Restless, finally Dylan (Steve Burton) and Avery (Jessica Collins) called it quits after months of the push-pull that has been going on between the duo, and the two other outside forces in their lives … Sharon (Sharon Case) and Joe (Scott Elrod).
And even after Dylan knew how Sharon manipulated a text message response to Avery that caused more of a rift for the duo, in the end it appears Dylan forgave Sharon and realized he has feelings for her/Later, Dylan shows up at Sharon’s and the two make love.
Elsewhere with Fen (Max Ehrich) back on the scene, he admits to the Scooby-Doo gang at the Abbott Cabin that he was blackmailed into spiking the punch the night Austin was murdered with the vile that was in a package. Apparently, Fen flunked a class at school and needed the grade to change, so someone did it for him, and then wanted to call in a favor! The gang is not too happy with Fen. Paul (Doug Davidson) shows up and Fen gives him the envelope/package the vile was in to try to get forensic evidence on who could be behind the murders of Austin (Matthew Atkinson) and Courtney (Kelli Goss), and who framed Sharon.

These two storyline moments certainly had people talking on Friday on social media. So, what do you think about Avery and Dylan’s break-up? Are you rooting for Dylan and Sharon? Joe and Avery?
And what do you think of Fen’s explanation of why he spiked the punch at the party months ago that caused everyone to black out and a murder to go down? Who is the responsible party here who wanted people dead? Comment below, but first watch Dylan and Sharon hitting the sheets after the jump!
Ugh, everytime Sharon gets around a man for any length of time, she pulls him into bed. Such a slut she is, always whining about how much she loves Faith. And Fen, a spineless mealymouthed cheater!
I know, Eileen. But, this has been building for a long time. I just wish that the writers would finally give Sharon closure…you know what I mean? Just let her be happy, for once. I was always wanting her and Nick to get back together, but Nick Is a joke…..holier-than-thou, just like the rest of the rest of the Newmans.
Oh really Sage and Chelsea slept with two men in one month Ben slept with three women in about three months. Nick has his zipper open twenty four hours a day! Knock it off about Sharon the only reason they are pushing Dylan with her is because she has twenty one years on this soap and they are trying like hell to get people to accept Steve Burton. Sharon Case has done nothing but step up to the plate for this show after. The last three writing teams have tried to destroy her character!
You’re right, Substitute.
Everybody has slept with everyone else on all soaps. It is a very alien concept for me. I only dated my husband…so, I can’t even relate.
I did mention a few days ago that there will be pandemonium when Chelsea and Sage realize that they are both pregnant with Gabe’s baby.
CeeCee, hi 🙂
nope lol
everybody has slept with everybody on Y&R because that is what they do on that soap..
It recycles the same couples over and over again year after year….
They make the rounds sleeping with the same list and then work their way back to whom they started with..
Same cast for decades sleeping with each other..
Bad thing with Y&R- most all the younger cast are related to each other..
If they started hooking up it would be one big pile of insest..
GH has little of exchanging partners/making the rounds..
they usually move on because GH brings in new charaters,,
Carly and Sonny are the main, they will always be,,
Oh and let us not forgetAbby she slept with Austin off camera brilliant Pratt at work again and then Ben. Oh and Victoria who never saw a hairbrush she did not like the two Daddy storyline. Oh and Phyllis in the days of rolling on a desk and screwing in a dumpster. Oh and then Victoria and Nikki sharing Deacon and Cole. Both of Victoria’s pregnancy’s that she carried to term it was whose the Daddy and let’s not forget who is raising Reed. You wAnt to go there with Sharon bring it on. Oh and Miss Cupcake Avery sleeping with Nick her sisters husband but that was ok that Nick slept with two sisters and his Daddy’s ex Dianne. Tired of the crap people lay on Sharon maybe people go for her because she has a better figure then the people half her age on this show. Oh yes and the spawn Summer who mourned her husband’s death for two weeks before she was on the couch with Kyle !
You read my mind CeeCee, I was just thinking wouldnt it be nice to have Sharon and Dylan fall in love this summer and do some romantic, playful things on screen. Maybe even a location shoot somewhere? NO couples have a perfect marriage or dating history but with all the BS it would be nice to see two characters have fun for once!
I hope Sharon and Adam get together. I think Chuck Pratt doesn’t know the history of the intense love cant keep hands off the body lust love climb the highest moutain for each other “SHADAM: 🙂 love
Love Sharon and Dylan. They have great chemistry, and that love scene was hot. They seem like a great fit,and should have been paired together from the start. Sharon was the first person Dylan met when he came to town, and they instantly sparked. They could be the next supercouple, unlike Davery which has flopped. When Davery was shoved down our throats last year the show hit new demo lows, and I think Davery was to blame who the fans hated. I’m over the Scooby mystery. The younger generation should be in the business world. Was glad to see Fen though
Avery seems to have a mud pit ready at a moments notice and a stick for good measure. Nick fizzled, Dylan fizzed and I’m sure Joe will to.
Lol, Timmm. Nick and Dylan share the same DNA….they wallow in mud themselves; and fizzle.
This makes me think how Nick’s life keeps using the same revolving door which leads to nowhereland.
Again, Nick is embroiled in another who’s-the-daddy ‘mystery’ ….déjà-vu, much? Brings back memories of Summer’s two daddies…..Nick and Jack. Who’s the daddy?
NOOOO not a Dylan fan . He is a nice guy but Sharon is supposed to be with Nick. Nick is treating Sharon so bad. He should never of gotten full custody. I will never ever understand this. Nick lied about paternity and Phyllis changed paternity but why didn’t they lose their kids and Sharon did?????
Lately, cannot believe how the writers are having the characters such as Nick, Stitch & now Dylan being so very irresponsible to the women who they have professed to care about = Nick with Sage & previously Sharon & Avery; Stitch with Victoria – who he is father to their child too; and now Dylan with Avery and secretly with Sharon.
For Nick, he cannot even ‘bed’ a new woman in a private place and we find Sharon walking in on Nick/Sage after their liaison in THE WORKPLACE! And he’d not even taken Sage out for a date of any kind. And now with their SL, obviously two grown adults didn’t even think about practicing what even teens know is important = safe sex, irregardless of a possible pregnancy.
With Stitch, he is barely out of Victoria’s bed and does a quick turn around with doing the horizontal bop with Abby. And to top that off, Stitch was unfaithful to Victoria with Abby’s mom while playing daddy in the relationship with Victoria. So, there’s a lot of loyalty to the women in that SL. (sarcasm here)
Now we have Dylan who has simply been ‘doing his ?job’ shadowing Sharon. But since when was he a security detail when the courts mandated Michael to be with Sharon and doesn’t he have a job? Then despite having an engagement to Avery, he ?develops feeling for Sharon? More like the issue of ‘doing without’ while Avery is away and is lazily looking elsewhere. Now within a short period of time, without any sort of dating with Sharon, they are “giving in” to feelings of ?love. Give me a break.
Again, no sorrow of a breakup, no guilt on Dylan’s part about kissing Sharon while still engaged to Avery, (and for that matter Avery toying with Joe while engaged to Dylan) and yet there is a relationship of history between Avery & Dylan of great depth as written when these characters appeared on YR.
For the writers to have these men seemingly giving into their own lust, branding it as love – we all have heard how Stitch is telling Ashley how THIS TIME he has REAL feelings for Abby, it just is shallow and demeaning to watch these characters behaving as they have on YR in the recent shift of writing SL’s.
We now have a whoopsie pregnancy of Sage, yet not one instance of an STD = there should be a clinic setting for many of the folks on YR now!. And now we hear Dylan having doubts he can engage in a real relationship without hurting another woman – this time Sharon. NOW he is having insightful thoughts? A bit late. Also is a bit late when considering the potential for a co-dependency which could develop (or has it already developed?) between someone with bipolar disorder – Sharon and someone with PTSD – Dylan, seeing as they both ‘think’ they understand the other! Another delusion visible in these characters already.
Just find the writers are not giving any of the characters any time to actually settle into a relationship without scattering them all over the place with secretive liaisons that maybe don’t mean anything but disrupt the SL dreadfully. Dylan now doesn’t give a darn about what happens to his long-time love, Avery. When it makes the viewer wonder about his lack of sincerity with any woman in the future. The words come easy to these characters when they are ‘getting’ what they want but otherwise it seems the word, “Next” is most appropriate.
Well to be fair the previous writers had made Sage infertile, meaning she wasn’t supposed to be able to get pregnant and that is why Nick said he didn’t use protection. Of course that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t used a condom for protection about STD’s, but this is a soap, so even if they did, if the writer wants the character pregnant the character will be pregnant. It is as you said it is the writers fault that characters act like this– but this writer is known for not caring about character development, rather uses characters only as means to further plots.
Fire Fire Fire Chuck Pratt. Sharon does not need to waste her time with Dylan. He is mentally unstable. Let angry Avery have him and they move away. Take Summer who we know is really jacks. Jack should be getting a test as soon as the worst fake Jack story is over.
Why is CBS allowing Chuck to write the worst stories in soap history! The Austin Murder is so ridiculous and the fake Jack. I have been now only following the posts on FB I stopped watching Y&R after 25 years . SAD
Chuck Pratts style of writing is wild, crazy irresponsible and it always has been. The actors are at his mercy playing scenes that they dont believe in either. But what choice do they have? Act it or find another job!
Eileen Hargis, hi..
I have never heard/read of a Y&R cast member saying they are playing scenes they don’t believe in..
I could have missed them saying that about Pratt/his scenes but I highly doubt that I have..
Did I say they said it for publication? No, I did not.
And Chuck Pratt can’t be fired because he has an iron clad contract. He’s also Co-Executive Producer, so he can write that a bomb blows up Genoa City and that will happen.
It’s ironic that one of the other topics on MF is “love in the afternoon” with the montage of great “love” stories on soaps. The more memorable were usually about longer term relationships where girl and boy took their time getting to know each other…fewer and far between now. Now the buildup to “love” scenes are more like a twitter account with writers not knowing how to write a complete sentence with real words. What they are now passing off as love is nothing more than sex. And as for Y&R, from what I can see, a “quickie” is the go-to “cure” for most everything, especially that special itch, or relief from being disappointed or betrayed, etc. And if not sex, taking another drink. Damn the consequences.
So agree with your ‘take’ on this topic too, Rose. Decent women, like many characters on YR, both male and female have been most often romantic with partners, (as you said above) and certainly weren’t the female sluts as it seems the women now (Abby, Ashley, Sage, Chelsea, Sharon, even Summer just after Austin had been killed) are being portrayed. And the men being turned into that horrible term, ‘dogs’ when previously ‘quickies’ to mend their broken? (doubt it as they are seemingly totally insensitive clods now) hearts with another body, usually the nearest one – e.g.. Sharon, Sage, Abby, etc. Seems any body as long as not a sister or brother is now okay – look at the serial generational screwing that is going on now – Victoria, Ashely and Abby all Stitches ‘conquests.’ And he’s even crowing proud to Ashley. Making me want to puke! Nick, with his custody of his daughter is thawing the boss’s caution to the wind and ‘taking’ Sage in the storage room of the pub with not even a door locked; so that Sharon walking in following the tryst is made to feel she’s in the wrong by Nick for being there! There are more examples too. Am actually surprised that Hilary isn’t pregnant (seeing as she is in real life due in August) as she’d not have even known ‘Who’s The Daddy?” Maybe there would have been back lash from the Afro-American community of fans who watch the show.
Maybe we who object to this objectifying of the characters sexually on this show need to somehow get our voices heard other than on discussion boards such as this great one by Michael Faiirman. There needs to be some article in one of the Daytime Soap magazines about how unhappy fans are these days with the depiction of casual, not even safe sexual encounters on YR these past months. It really is despicable.
Whoops, a few spelling checks to errors.
“with precocious ‘quickies’ to mend…” and
“custody of his daughter is THROWING caution to …”
Hope the above makes sense now…
Wendy,
You forgot about the insta-weddings! Since Pratt started, we have had Jack insisting to Phyllis they get married in 30 days. At LEAST they were together a while, but she’s barely out of a coma and shouldn’t even be making these life decisions yet! How unromantic anyway. And since when do the men get to call the shots in wedding planning on any soap? Then there was Billy demanding he&Chelsea get married in 30 days as well-RIDICULOUS and clearly written by a man. He was jealous and tried to rush the wedding. Then they cheated in their minds, then both physically cheated. Then tripped over each other rushing the other to the alter at different times instead of owning that neither wanted to be married to the other. Then Billy insists they get married the next day & he’ll take care of the planning. REALLY? REALLY? What woman, especially Chelsea, a girly-girl and fashion designer no less, who would be planning every step of her wedding right down to the design of her wedding dress, would agree to this? Once again, a male writer who doesn’t get it!!! Oh, look, Billy just humiliated her at the alter although he cheated, too- How romantic!
Did I mention Noah’s out of the blue proposal to Courtney, who was depressed 2 months before because he didn’t want to get married? He’s a Newman, but got no buildup or planning leading up to his proposal. No family or friends showed up for Courtney (and Billy’s mom didn’t even go to his engagement party or wedding-sigh) and a 1 day turnaround, we have another insta-wedding at the hands of Pratt and another wedding that didn’t happen. It’s like he misses the big picture, an entire huge section of soap viewers that watch soaps for the excitement, romance & fairytale big weddings!
Oh you are so right with your observations, Laurie. Appreciate your great slant on the weddings issue as it backs up most of the other comments here about the lack of continuity to the ‘old’ YR characters, build up of romance, all the nuances of the male/female characters – remember the old storyline of Sharon and Adam years ago ending up in Paris, such angst during those months. But that is what used to ‘make’ the show. Yes, the planning of a wedding months ahead was really fun to watch. We all remember the Nick Sharon weddings, even Victor Nikki weddings and so many others where there was a build up with lots of challenges against the couple, etc.
Turning YR into a mock CSI show with the murders mystery (honestly think the writers just didn’t know what to do with these young actors); or a most silly pseudo copy of the recent flick, Shades of Grey with Kelly & Jack, is more than a 360 degree turn around for every character. It would have been better if the group of young actors were to develop a business – say a new computer company with a security branch, that way Kevin could have a top management position; seeing as he’s unemployed a lot of the time (and who pays for his rent and groceries?) Not Michael, given all his problems with cancer, Tracy & Fenn now. Kids of the rich would be having better jobs than either no job or working as a bartender as Noah is under dad’s scrutiny. What’s with that, his dad is either working under Victor’s patriarchal Newman enterprises or has his own business but his son can only BE a bartender?
I sit and shake my head at all of this as it’s rather like a skein of wool all tangled up and no way of sorting it out. That’s how all these story lines are going – more tangles and not much sense to any of them.
Laurie and Wendy,
Your posts gave me hope. You both made some excellent points about how women are being portrayed through the quickies and the completely unrealistic insta-weddings.
I was disgusted with Billy’s slut-shaming of Chelsea at the altar. All the language coming out of the mouths of characters is so uncharacteristic but Billy’s continual references to Chelsea as a “slut” were utterly disgusting, especially since he cheated as well! What is WORSE is that they wrote Chelsea all demure and ashamed!!! Since WHEN??? She saw them Billy and Victoria with their tongues down each other’s throats. She has been witnessing them getting closer. She did not defend herself ONCE. I have to agree – it makes you think that all of this is a result of a man’s perspective, or a writer who has an antiquated view of a woman’s role on soaps.
Also, the yelling match between Avery and Sharon when Avery returned from Chicago and asked Sharon how Dylan’s wallet would have ended up in her hands unless she was on top of him or something along those lines. It struck me as highly out of character for Avery. If Avery were to yell at Sharon, it wouldn’t be with such raunchy language. Maybe for another character, but not Avery.
Similarly, the helpless way Abby has been fluttering into the arms of Stitch lately is unlike her. Also, her strong and mostly normal relationship with her mother (if you forget the whole Tucker McCall fiasco) has been completely sullied by the fact that they have no both slept with the same man. When Stitch told Abby about the shower sex with her mom and then Abby confronted Ashley about it in a really sassy way, it was clearly written by someone who doesn’t appreciate the history of their mother-daughter relationship and just sees women as having catty relationships with one another. It seemed highly out of character for Abby to talk to her mom like that since she has always respected her. And Stitch is NOT A PRIZE. Ugh.
With Kay gone, Nikki has no strong female friend. And where are the female friendships on this show? There are ZERO. Am I right? Even before this horrible writing regime took over, there were few. We lost Chloe-Chelsea, Kay-Nikki….and you would have thought they would have given Lily a stronger relationship with Sharon given that we were supposed to believe that Sharon and Drucilla were besties.
And finally, with Kay gone, the corporate world in GC is once again run by the men. Or one man, that is. The writers may want us to believe that Victoria is a powerhouse but all she does lately is the limbo under Victor’s thumb and she gets her glute workouts by standing up and sitting down in what used to be Ashley’s chair. And where the heck is JILL? And Gloria? Why can’t Ashley be CEO? Why do women with successful careers always have to lose their babies? (Avery, Christine, and until now, Victoria).
It is infuriating.
Laurie…about the insta-weddings. Good observation, especially with all of the hoop-la over Luke and Laura recently, which included reference to their incredible wedding. It was huge at the time. But even GH has digressed with Franco humiliating Carly at their wedding, and now potentially Rick and Nina…and don’t let me get started on this convoluted storyline.
I might be off here because I’m not an expert on past soap writers/originators, but I seem to have heard the successful ones from the past were women, when it was more romantic and there was more romance, and stronger female characters. Before Pratt and Ron C. That may also be part of the difference and problem.
I cannot stand Stitch. He is creepy and why do I get this feeling he cannot wait for Faith to turn eighteen!
Poor Sharon. My sympathies.
Sharon sleeps with a man who really does have wood….Sgt. Plywood.
Lol, Marsha…..I don’t know HOW to take that remark…you’re funny with your puns. Well, unless it’s my dirty mind. Lol.
Did I detect a little ‘deranged’ look in Sharon’s eyes as she was hugging Sage? Hmmmm. Are the writers not done with bringing Sharon down, down, down? I hope I am wrong…that it’s only my mind working overtime. She has been cleared…she should just go forward, in the best way.
Unless, we have all jumped the gun, including Paul, that Sharon is innocent of the crimes.
I gathered from the conversation between Fake Jack and Svengali that mayhap, Fake J. did not commit the murders….I have this weird feeling…hmmmm…it’s either Ben, Abby or Kyle.
The murder story just gets more and more ludicrous. END IT!
Right? Now it’s Fen’s fault for not disclosing what he knew.
Ludicrous is a very fitting word. This stupid, cockamamie story about Fen cheating on a paper? Was that it? I don’t even know if I got that ridiculous story right.
Why are they prolonging this storyline? Do you think someone else will be killed? Could that be the reason this idiotic mystery hasn’t been solved yet?
What mystery, we all know fake Jack killed them because Austin got it on tape that there was two Jack’s in the park that night, and then Courtney saw the same thing. We don’t know who fake Jack is right now, but obviously he will be someone really dangerous, acting without Victor say so, if he thought he was discovered. If it isn’t fake Jack I would really be surprised that they actually could have me fall for a red herring, but unless something else turns up, my money is on fake Jack.
Agree. Seems like the sentiment here is really so accurate that the storyline of these 2 murders, aka like the old Hardy Boys only with girls too, is just beyond any intelligent reasoning of plot. Anyway who cheats on an exam doesn’t end up being involved in a crime syndicate and fears for his life without doing their bidding. Come on! That’s like someone in the writing group is living in another world or at least never attended a college or university! It’s at the point now that no one gives a damn about this happening: the deaths, the mystery computer information, Ryan’s stupid behaviour with Summer, Stitches concern for Abby when all he was interested in was ‘well we all know given his now track record with women and not to mention Fenn’s new silliness. It needs to stop yesterday.
Yeah, I think it’s Marco AKA Jack. The whole tale is so convoluted. Fen was on the straight and narrow. For him to change a grade (suddenly he became a computer genius?) does not jive with how he is now.
As new Jack would say, Ay Carumba! Es muy mal.
A drug king pin!!! We are supposed to believe this man is a drug king pin? If he is so dangerous then why is he at Victor’s beck and call? How would he know anything about Fen changing a grade? Does he know Fen? None of this makes any sense.
Well as Phoebe from Friends said about Rachel and Ross–“See? She’s his lobster.”
These two work–I like it.
I hope you’re right, Harry. Sharon deserves much better than what she’s been getting. I hope this levity and jocular attitude expressed towards mental illness will be put to rest once and for all.
Sharon has been dealt one terrible blow after the other. Perhaps Dylan will be her savior. Hmmm, I don’t know, though. As I said, poor Sharon! The writers should finally do right by her.
Missed you , Harry!
I don’t know I always felt Adam was her ‘lobster’ until writers past and present destroyed that relationship– maybe Dylan is her “sole” mate– ( Sorry, couldn’t help myself-LOL)
LOL, Mary, that is so apropos….deliciously funny . I love it…!!!!
Will someone please kill that worthless, sniveling weasel Fen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohh dear gawd!!
that was horrible! I needed a barf bag!
Seeing Sharon kiss gaged me!
But- my friends made me watch and made great fun of, so the mocking and jeering made it grossly better ..
Really though, it was disgusting!
Poor Dylan, he surely will die now that his lips touched Sharon’s, he is a dead man walking, for sure.. 🙁
You are too funny, SU.
I’ll bet you couldn’t get rid of the vision in the back of your mind of Dylan being ex-Jason/Steve B/gangster from your favorite, GH…which made it all the more gross for you. And we know how much you like Y&R anyway.
Poor Sharon is going to get splinters.
LOL. Guys, stop it! I can’t laugh anymore….splinters? OMG….too funny.
I was one who wanted to see Sharon and Dylan together, but this is too quick. It is not romance, it’s lust.
ITA– writer’s today have no patience to write a real romance, they think everyone just want to watch couples have sex— I too wanted them together, but having Dylan sleep with her a day after Avery breaks their engagement is bit much, since prior to that there was no sign Dylan had any feelings for her at all. And they ruin the match of Stitch and Abby by having him sleep with her, the same day he broke things off with Victoria– I think romance on daytime soaps is a thing of the past, and what passes us romance today is so sad
Absolutely agree.
Sex, just for sex sake has its place in soaps, but not when you are trying to build a couple. I enjoyed Adam and Sage’s romp because they were both desperate. I even enjoyed Adam and Chelsea’s romp because she was hurt and well, he is Adam and this is supposedly the woman he adores so it makes sense.
But I am glad you and others agree that this is not romance. Sometimes I fear I have become too old in my thinking. 🙂 And I wholeheartedly agree about Abby and Ben — just awful.
Well, Mary…I guess I’m a little slow…LOL. What can I say.
It just dawned on me that Fake Jack is Marco. I still think this storyline is as stupid as the Fluke’s storyline. I don’t know if I can handle it. I always had a dislike of Jack as it is, now, even more. I loathe him as much as Victor. Jack’s past is not so pristine.
Will Victor finally go to jail? He brought Marco back, so , he is just as guilty of the murders. He may not have pulled the trigger….buuuut…..
Now that Paul has a clue…Duh….he just had to tell Dylan, right? Hmmm…..Well, it goes without saying that Woody (as suggested by Marsha, LOL) , will be the hero. He will corral Marco…yeayyyyy! NOT!
How convenient that there are no pictures of this guy. C’mon.!!
Fen’s confession is just another example of lousy storytelling– after ALL the crap since Feb, now this? WIthholding evidence, verbal and physical…. for a grade? I just found it completely lame…
As for Sharon and Dylan… the sheets was a bit too fast for me, but I do like their chemistry. Here’s hoping the writers will find a refreshing and new story line for them… and for the viewers.
It’s apparent that Fen will follow in his uncle Kevin’s footsteps and never grow up. I agree, lousy storytelling.
Ron,
It seems like Pratt has 0 endgame mapped out or even storyline past Flirt W/Disaster week.
I see it over & over, through the years and currently on Y&R. He’s good at pumping the cast, audience & execs up & getting folks talking, but it’s like he has no real direction or thoughts past the early stages. He sounds convincing in interviews, but what we see onscreen doesn’t match what he’s saying. This Scooby storyline has been ALL OVER THE PLACE and not in a red herring type of way, but in a, as Pratt likes to elude to, “a ‘crazy’ Sharon off her meds” way! He’s never been good at storyline resolution (which is a huge difference in he & RC’s writing at GH, IMO). I can’t even think of anything good that’s come from the s/l except that some of the younger cast got more airtime.
Now, what’s this crap about cheating on a paper, Marco the drug lord & speaking fluent Spanish? I don’t want to sound ignorant, but Marco is a Spanish name-PBerman is not Spanish (or Hispanic) is he? Or is Marco not his real fake name just 1 he uses for drug trade? The FBI doesn’t even know what he looks like, just Victor? Whew!!!!!!! Okay, then. Fen’s possibly been in touch with him but authorities can’t find him?
I do like Dylan and Sharon, and feel they are the most romantic couple going right now! I’m basing this 1st and foremost on chemistry. 2nd, they are both kind of wounded birds & with mental illnesses that many others don’t understand or even care to, & they are gentle with each other (minus the Sharon texting incident-which was BEFORE Dylan kissed her & kiss would’ve happened anyway). Dylan has PTSD, and I wonder what he really thought as he sat & watched Avery take Sharon’s daughter away over an event that had 0 to do with her daughter, but because she’s bipolar? The he saw her try to get her sister out of going to prison by using “mental illness” as a defense for a crime far more serious than Sharon’s. Avery & Nick bullied Sharon. Then Avery’s been kissing Joe for months. Davery have been over for a while but neither wanted to admit it. That’s why I have no problem with Dylan and Sharon’s kiss so soon after the official breakup.
Do agree Y&R could use a writing refresh as per one of your other comments. But some of your suggestions would take great writing skill to keep the fantasy, fun and love escape want to watch. In the afternoon. And these three are also sorely lacking.
Yes– for example: Sharon was working for Chelsea– is she going back? Or how about finding her another career? Show the struggles and successes of people who can actually reinvent themselves. When she was introduced as a character in college, I don’t recall if she graduated with a degree. Make her a successful woman!
Sorry for my iPad having a mind of it’s own even after I thought I had done a quick proofread. I love this whole idea of showing any of the characters actually working, doing the actual work/projects, and what it takes to get there and stay, or even change their minds. That’s part of the fun of the planning of the Nurses Ball.
And speaking as a “girl” I’ve often wondered how many except the likes of Nikki or Victoria, or Maxie on GH can afford their wardrobes, the spa, and pay the rent.
Speaking of Maxie, I see an opportunity for the writers to have her resurrect the idea of the Crimson Magazine with Julian with her at the helm. I realize in real life this is a huge leaf, but hey!, we’re talking soaps here. She does have a knack for the fashion industry having worked for Connie, and GH could really use a little more glamour. And bring in Lucy as a consultant. And Morgan’s going to have to get it together, someday, I hope, instead of following Sonny into a life of crime. Too bad we lost our female nerd/scientist when Ellie move to Washington State (?).
GOOD HEAVENS!!! Sharon, get out while you can. You DON’T want to be paired with Dullan. He will just bring you down to his level of blandness.
That’s what I said, way back when, Ren. We shall see…they might work as a couple. I just want Sharon settled down, and happy.
While I don’t like watching and suffering thru the destruction of Y&R at the hands of JFP and Chuck Pratt, at least i’m enjoying GH when they’re not focusing on the mob wars.
Hate all these ridiculous story lines. They have fully ruined Sharon and Victoria. Stitch is unrecognizable and Victor is unredeemable. The phony Jack story is stupid and unbelievable and enough with the unending murder mystery. May have to stop watching soon.
Sharon and Dylan are really disgusting to watch. So I FFed thru
that scene.
Fen and the whole Scooby thing – I am over it, but glad it seems
like it will be solved soon.
I can’t say that I’m into the Dylan/Sharon hookup. Although I saw it coming from a mile away, I was hoping things between them would remain strictly platonic. Sharon (or any other female character for that matter) does not “need” a man. However, one thing that Sharon has been missing since Nick left her for Phyllis is that stalwart protector who stands by her when everything goes wrong. She had that and a father figure in Victor for many years, but then they totally ruined that relationship. Dylan was a viable substitute in that department, and it disappoints me that the writers went in this obvious direction. It’s well past time that Sharon be redeemed and returned to the character Bill Bell created.
Just to comment about your Bill Bell reference. IF Bill Bell could come back and watch even one hour, he’d surely fire all those at the top and get some better staff to be true to his vision for YR and as it was for so many of the decades it’s been #1. Won’t be long and it will be slipping to less than that if the show doesn’t improve it’s current hodgepodge story lines. To try and mimic a CSI show, or inferences for the recent Shades of Grey movie with Jack in restraints is just beyond stupid. Even fans could probably write better for the characters knows so well to them.
Whoops, last sentence, meant to read “for the characters known so well to them.”
I’ll chime in as well on the Bill Bell vision– Sharon was always someone we rooted for, a strong woman. I can’t even envision how to turn things around… maybe a political story? What I do know is Y and R NEEDS REFRESHING STORIES. You’d think they’d have the brains to tackle issues like random violence and senseless police brutality in this country, or gun control legislation? How about stories on education– like STEM classes at the high school level or collegiate level? Or excessive state and national testing? Or children and vaccinations and whether or not they cause autism? DO THE WRITERS READ NEWSPAPERS FOR STORYLINE IDEAS THAT CAN AFFECT EVERYDAY AMERICANS (and hence, their viewers?) THIS IS MIDWEST AMERICA– and the topics I just mentioned are very real issues now only in the Chicagoland area, but throughout our country. These can be very riveting stories if they are well-researched and tastefully outlined.
Ron, excellent points. Goodness knows those issues you outlined are central to the US today. Even the issue of health care, mental health care where so many folks fall through the cracks or else don’t continue with the care they require. Even focus on addictive behaviours such a attention seeking, sex addictions with the never emerging STD’s and on YR only whoops pregnancies. The obvious alcohol addiction is the only one, aside from gambling addiction of Billy’s years back, are the only two seeming to make it into a storyline. There are quite a few characters on YR who were truly not wanted children and even that topic could be explored with the now adult children and have good influence on their behaviours.
It also seems that Victor’s most psychopathic type behaviour is all okay for long story lines and never does he seem to be made accountable and his behaviour then is escalating which is power tripping at no expense as another addictive behaviour.
Just maybe the writers and Pratt & Phelps never watch the news or read newspapers, which would explain the truly asinine, out of the world plots on the show today and recently.
Do wish there was a way for all these very insightful comments here to be sent to Phelps or Pratt or even a few of the writers. Maybe it would make them sit up and notice they could be doing a much better job and more in line with the long term vision of Bill Bell which did continue for many years. Sadly not now and unless there is a huge shake-up, doubt it will change in the near future.
Wendy, hi..
it is a soap, it is entertainment, it is all based on fantasy/make believe..
Soaps are not medical journals nor documentaries..
They are not real life, they are mostly BS .. LOL
Soaps are not PSA’s .. they are simply campy entertainment..
I do not expect too much from a soap outside of soap world entertainment and I would not care to watch soap writers attempting to be Physiatrists, Doctors, Lawyers, and science engineers, they would never get right lol they are best at doing what they do- write make believe stories to entertain.. 🙂
It’s great to see the varied opinions on this comment page. I have to wonder suOOOO how long you’ve been watching YR. This daytime drama for those of us who’ve watched for decades, the essence of YR has completely changed as other have commented very astutely. Of course, it’s entertainment BUT years ago, the story lines were continuous in dealing with various emotional issues. An example would be with Cassie’s death due to drinking and then her driving a car (without a licence) due to Daniel being drunk and the result was she died. The show also explored so well the resultant grief, as was done with Colleen’s death too. The characters of Sharon, Nick and Tracy were allowed as the characters being parents to flounder, to express the myriad of emotionality of losing a child.
Recently, on YR there were two deaths, a few scenes of grief, a bit of anger and that was it. Goodness, Summer was getting so cosy with Ryan within a week or so after her husband was murdered. Her finding out about his infidelity, his resentment toward her family could have been explored more fully, and would have been IF this storyline had happened before this new format of choppy scenes, quickly moving plots, no depth to the essence of emotions.
Thankfully even those this is the situation at YR now with the writers, the better actors are able to add there excellence as character actors to infuse scenes with the emotionality we have grown to expect and miss dearly on this rapid fire story lines with extras added in that make so little sense.
This show has been great due to the great writers of the past, great progression of the character’s base and sensible story lines. Unfortunately, in many cases this is missing on YR in so many scenes, as others have stated here.
Ron, you make such great points! It seems that the writers are writing for a reality TV audience that watches Real Housewives or the Bachelor where the storyline/script just flatlines at the very basic: catfights, casual sex, lotsa lip gloss!
Chelsea was a con artist turned fashion designer. What have they done with Sharon? Nothing. She should be touring the country speaking in high schools about the dangers of driving drunk given how Cassie died. She could be doing so much more.
And I’ve said this before, I’ll say it again: why is Faith constantly being plyed with giant cookies and milkshakes? Or she is always at a sleepover? How hard is it to write a different line every now and then: “Faith is at THE LIBRARY”. Or Faith is working on her SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT: how to keep women away from her father. Or, Faith is eating carrots with hummus. Or Faith is learning Chinese. See? Was that so frigging hard????
I completely agree, Mr. Capehart. I would like to see Sharon succeed and have a friend who is not one of her children and who is not someone she ends up in bed with. How many men has she said, “You get me like no other” to before? Nick, Brad, Adam, and now Dylan. I’m bored already.
I like Steve Burton, but I’m so meh about Dylan. He is like leftovers in the fridge. I used to watch GH and I saw Jason in action. He is playing the same character except now he doesn’t have a leather jacket. How many times has he run into Paul’s office in the past week alone, or even month and said, “I hear there’s new evidence, you have to tell me what it is”. or, “I may have new evidence”. AHH!!!
And today, Sharon is reading Nick the riot act in the club for hiding something from her about him and Sage and Jason – whoops, Dylan – runs in, “What did you do to her?”. Totally ridiculous!! Sharon didn’t need backup, she was kicking Nick’s butt all on her own.
I agree that Sharon needs a friend or a constant and that what she had with Victor was ruined by MAB…ugh. So awful. The writing regime that followed tried to bring her to the lowest of the low and then raise her out of it with her bipolar diagnosis. Since then, she has been floundering between being somewhat normal and then forgetting to take her meds.
I’m not saying you need to create some unrealistic venture for her but honestly, Sharon Case is such an amazing actor. I’d like to see her character go a different route for a bit. Some career success, a female friendship…something!
We really are pretty well on the same page about this topic. I love the comments as it brings up some great ideas for better writing than we, the viewers, are getting currently on the show. With Sharon’s experiences as both a mom of a young adult, Noah, and Faith, she indeed could be a great spokesperson for school appearances and maybe could even team up with Nikki, as she doesn’t have much of a role these days. It could be a new duo, where in the past, Nikki has been so full of vitriol for Sharon, often without real cause. To see these two women even maybe create a a foundation against drinking and driving (seeing as sober Nikki & drunk Neil injured Christine and caused her miscarriage) even the three of them could join forces. Even a more realistic and sensible pair could be Sharon & Neil, seeing as he’s not exactly one day away from an engagement like Dylan was last week before bedding Sharon. And as far as Phyllis goes, what the heck is she doing these days for a purpose in life? Following fake Jack around bolstering him every which way possible. I keep thinking that the intimacy of the manipulated fake Jack with Phyllis is actually criminal rape as it’s a person who isn’t even someone she knows! Whatever will happen with Phyllis when that truth comes out! She could team up with Chelsea, currently an adversary due to Billy & her at the wedding, but maybe they could open up a fashion school and then give Summer, Abby a purpose too on the show instead of just running around with scared looks on their faces and asinine script.
It really needs a total revamping.
I think those of us here given a chance could turn around these plots that really are so silly, insulting to long-time viewers.
If I didn’t have so much respect for the actors themselves, plus invested years watching the show, I’d easily stop watching for awhile as I find it tedious to tolerate the Hardy Boys/Girls story and the Jack SL too. All so very ridiculous.
Dylan and Avery’s brake up is looooong overdue !! I don’t like the pairing of Avery and Joe or Dylan and Sharon. There needs to be some new blood for the 4 of them. Sharon has had every newman man on the show, she needs to move on. The Scooby-Do story line needs to come to an end as well. And so does the Yack/Jack story line. Victor needs to do some time for his behavior this time he has gone to far.
not gonna lie i m loving me some dylan/ sharon and avery / joe!!!!!
steve burton is so hot and scott elrod is so dreamy!
i love the tension between joe and avery and the resistance. i hope when they finally seal the deal its crazy hot!
the only part missing from sharon / dylan is nicks hesistance and jealousy to let dylan continue to grow closer to his ex wife, its classic nick to not want anyone even if he doesnt want sharon either.
hoever i must say this is one of the few things im looking forward to on y n r , romance!!! this is what y n r does best, romance and couples and everything else is messy and rushed and over the top, stick to the basics pratt! hopefully we ll get a good dose of hevon and neil full focus again once this scooby murder crap and jack imposter crap is wrapped up.
Agree completely with you!

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s GH Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned,
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where they were previously, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. And Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, “Well, so much for that!”
Fast-forward to 2025, and “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said we’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth, My internal monologue is going ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is. or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprongna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric and a big fan base with with Jason and you know you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is down 100% to play. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.:
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit and the buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other. and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect Ric, Sonny, Lulu? So, much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither of them for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

General Hospital
GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
