The Young and the Restless to Feature Sharon Case and Michelle Stafford in Two-Person Episode

At the end of the Monday, February 24th episode of The Young and the Restless, the character of Phyllis and Sharon were revealed to have been kidnapped together after they both have gone MIA. Who has kidnapped the long-time rivals? Is Ian Ward (Ray Wise) already recovered from his gun shot wound, or is something else at play here?

Well, the top-rated CBS daytime drama series is teasing a very special standalone episode which airs tomorrow on Tuesday, February 25th. In it, only Sharon Case and Michelle Stafford appear. Previously, Y&R has only done a two-person episode and that was back in 2024 when Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) came to the rescue of Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who was on a full-on bender, only to put his own sobriety and life in danger.  That incredible episode was part of the reason that The Young and the Restless took home the WGA Award for writing in a Daytime Drama at ceremonies held earlier this month.

So, what does Y&R’s executive producer and head writer, Josh Griffith have in store this time? What we do know is the series needs to find a way for Sharon and Phyllis to exist in the same town; after Sharon framed Phyllis’s son Daniel (Michael Graziadei) for the murder of Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom), even though it was finally revealed she was being drugged by Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) and Ian Ward. In addition, it now seems commonplace for Sharon to be kidnapped when she was recently thrown in a sewer by the dastardly duo, before they were supposedly brought to justice.

Now, according to Stafford and Case in a conversation with TV Insider, the two will deal with their feelings on what Sharon did to Daniel and more. Michelle shared,“I appreciate the story because there was nowhere for Phyllis and Sharon to go; it was the apex of their discord. Something had to happen from that. There’s no way Phyllis is ever going to say, ‘Oh, it’s OK that you hid the bloody towels. I’m over it.’ And no way that Sharon is going to be OK with not being forgiven and just moving on. When they see each other, it would be difficult. So, I think this story that we’re doing really fixes that.”

However, the focus of the special two-person episode will be trying to figure out where they are and who would do this to them, but Stafford revealed how they played the heightened drama and stakes of it all, expressing “I kept on being like, ‘Don’t we think we’re gonna die?’ So, we were playing that it is our last moment of life.”

Sharon Case weighed-in on the latest kidnapping, stating, “This is an every-man-for-themselves situation, which is very real. Over the course of the entire storyline, we’re put in a lot of rough situations, we go through every different kind of emotions and our relationship changes over and over.”

In addition, official Y&R spoilers tease that on Tuesday, February 25, Phyllis finds herself in dire circumstances, while Sharon is forced to make a difficult decision.

So, who do you think kidnapped Sharon and Phyllis and why? Are the two women ultimately going to save each other’s lives in order for them to survive, thus ending the longstanding animosity between the two? Share your theories via the comment section.

After this is done, could they get back to true storytelling and not the two persons episodes, the overdone dream sequences and the episode dedicated to one character. SO many characters are on.thw canvas and being overlooked. Where are Victoria and Chloe? I won’t ask about Kevin, Lauren and Michael, because they are completely overlooked. Abby, it is like Victor doesn’t have a fouth child.
.

Lew, you nailed it and your comments crystallized why I gave up Y&R months ago. I hung in there as long as I did out of loyalty to the very talented veteran actors like Peter Bergman, Sharon Case and of course, Eric Braeden. No more one character shows, dream sequences and flashbacks from the day before. These tricks signify the fact that the head writer’s well has run dry. Time for him to punch that time clock and call it a day.

Yes, Harry, it is long overdue!

Getting REALLY REALLY tired of Sharon!!!!!

This episode is so incredibly stupid.

Amen!! Most of the dialouge is not even believable. The conversation between the two families was laughable. Why don’t they just label Y&R a comedy, and be done with it.

I know. Is Victor responsible?

Ian kidnapped them he isn’t dead

I said Ian kidnapped them originally. But, wouldn’t the morgue have notified the cops? Also, this kidnapper seems to want to bring the two women together —forcing them to embrace their past and talk about it.. it would be someone who cares? I don’t know. It’s just a strange storyline. This soap has been going off the rails for a while now.

Am trying to write a post, despite being hindered by a massive TOYOTA add, covering my whole 10″ screen. Why do we have to put up with this crap, almost every day? We have to scroll up and down, etc, etc, just to get to this point to make a comment.

Thanks, I’ll try that.

Im loving it all and enjoy these stand alone episodes. Now bring back Colleen Zenk “Aunt
Jordons ” lookalike is still in prison.

Boy, you sure are a glutton for punishment!

So back in the day when Jeannie Cooper was a big main character, they were always having dream sequences. They let you hang for awhile and then showed it was dream. So the dream idea isn’t new. I think the 2 person shows highlight the specific actors talent. Also, it was said at little while ago that Abby was put recurring status. I would like to see her return to regular status.

Dumb dumb dumb.. if Ian is responsible for this kidnapping, I ask ,—How?? —-could he just disappear from the morgue without anyone knowing?
—or is it someone who is acting for the better good? This gives Sharon and Phylis the chance to hash out all their odium and resentment —a good way for them to find peace and become friends. Too philosophical?? Pardon the typos, if any—

Well, I record and am not up to date on all of this. Not sure just what I follow but if your intent was to pull Sharon and Phyllis together –OK. The acting was superb at times. I find, to understand my casual viewing over decades, that Kyle and whatever the young person’s name, touching.

Over the decades the Abbott living room has been a bit over the top, but the best. I am afraid to see what happens. I would like Jack to be happy, and i like his present wife.

When these two act together they always bring their A game for some reason Stafford tones down the flapping of arms and Case stops the deer in the head lights may have to sit down and watch this. I appreciate what both of them have contributed to the show it is not their fault they just read what is handed to them.
