Stacy Haiduk Makes a Return to ‘The Young and the Restless’ as Patty Williams
In an intriguing daytime comings and goings, Days of our Lives Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera/Susan Banks) is returning to her old stomping grounds The Young and the Restless after almost a decade away.
Y&R is bringing “Crazy Patty” back this March on the top-rated CBS soap opera. According to the series head writer, and executive producer as told to TV Insider, Josh Griffith elaborated, “Everyone at Y&R couldn’t be more excited to welcome back Stacy for this exciting storyline when trouble once again finds Patty.” The show also teases a story filled with mystery and suspense.
When viewers last saw Patty in her final storyline in 2015, she escaped from Fairview, returned to Genoa City and survived an explosion where she was presumed dead. However, she was alive and left town with none other than Ian Ward (Ray Wise) before landing back in a mental institution in the fall of 2016.

As viewers know, Haiduk joined Y&R as a recast Patty, the younger sister of Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), previously played by Tammy Taylor, Lilibet Stern and Andrea Evans in 2009. She later played Dr. Emily Peterson, Patty’s doppelgänger. She exited Y&R in 2010, returned again for a run from 2011-12, and then again in 2015, before her exit in 2016.
It should be noted, that Haiduk will continue to appear on Days of our Lives as Kristen/Susan, the dual roles she took over from Eileen Davidson back in 2018. DAYS also tapes so far ahead of air that viewers will see Stacy on both soaps at the same time come this spring.
Will Patty’s obsession with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) rear its ugly head? After all, she once shot him and you know where! Could you see he reuniting with a very much alive, Ian Ward, and causing trouble for the citizens of Genoa City, or maybe she gets mixed-up with Roger Howarth’s Matt Clark? Stay tuned.
So, what do you think of Stacy Haiduk reprising the role of Patty Williams? What do you think is the mystery story which prompt her comeback? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
This could either go well or go wrong. Either way, I am pleased to see Stacy Haiduk back on The Young and the Restless.
I think it is time to move on from past stories and begin building for the future. I thought the Patty Williams storyline really fell off the rails years ago to the point of not making sense despite Stacy Haiduk’s fine performance. And if Y&R has no use for Paul Williams and all his now-dead or forgotten children, why should we care about his sister?
I totally agree. Josh Griffith keeps going into past stories, because I don’t think he has any original ideas.
Me too! Love me some crazy Patty but without Paul it won’t be the same.
The show needs to build up suspense with the younger generation of The Young and The Restless. There are so many young adults and older teens to navigate so that they start the next generation.
It’s my guess that Mariah, once found with Dominic, will be sent to the facility where Patty has been for years. And there will be interactions there.
She is fabulous but you’re right they need to bring Paul back I wonder if they will
They’d have to recast. Doug Davidson burned his bridges, and last I heard, he became a crazy MAGA. Too bad. He is a good actor.
It’s ridiculous!
It would be interesting to see if she were to share scenes with Eileen Davidson, Billy Flynn and Tamara Braun. The latter two she was heavily involve in storyline on Days and considering she took over the role of Kristen/Susan from Eileen, that would be pure gold. She can say some campy line like “Didn’t we meet before in that crazy town where all the people come back to life with a magic potion?”
Good
Typical Josh Griffith move. Bring in a big name, promise something exciting, and it just peters out because he can’t pen a decent story. We just saw that happen with Tamara Braun and Roger Howarth, what a waste of good talent. They come because jobs are so few in daytime…it’s either this or nothing. Didn’t they bring in Ed Scott to try to help, and he left defeated. They said Jill Farren Phelps was brought in last year, but Ive never seen her name in the credits. Josh Griffith is THE problem. Remove him to save this show.
I wasn’t watching Y&R back then but I was worried about my Susan Banks.. I can take the other changes. I been a fan of Howarth since he raped Norna Buchanan on one Life to Live. Since they’re bringing back characters why not Susan Lucci as Jill Abbott, Billy’s ailing mom
Haiduk returning to GC is one of the BEST things to happen in a LONG time! She is so fascinating to watch; even Peter Bergman said she is one of the most spontaneous actors he’s worked with. I hope they put her on contract, and I can’t wait for when Phyllis sees her! Who could forget when Patty poisoned Summer when she was little?!
