Y&R Stars Pay Tribute and Remember Marla Adams

The Young and the Restless is in mourning following the news of the passing of longtime star, Marla Adams (Dina Mergeron) who passed away at the age of 85. Adams died on Thursday April 25th in Los Angeles.

Since her passing, several tributes and heartfelt remembrances have been shared on social media. The official Y&R Instagram expressed. “On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we send our deepest sympathies to Marla’s family after her passing. We’re so grateful and in awe of Marla’s incredible performance as Dina Mergeron as both Marla and Dina made an unforgettable mark on Y&R.”

Several of Marla’s former co-stars took to the IG post and more to share their remembrances. Adams took home a Daytime Emmy in 2021 for her performance in 2020, as Dina finally succumbs to Alzheimer’s disease in several memorable scenes.

Beth Maitland (Traci): “The earth stopped turning for a moment when my Marla passed to eternity. Rest now, my Muti and soar with the angels.”

Marla was awesome, she rocked Y&R during her time and I enjoyed all of her scenes and her storylines. It was sad that they had let her die in soapland, but now it’s very sad that she has passed on.

NATAS Reveals 2024 Gold and Silver Circle Honorees Recognizing Admired Individuals and Their Enduring Contributions to Daytime Television

Ahead of the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7th, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced on Thursday, the recipients of the 2024 Gold and Silver Circle honors.

Those chosen as honorees were chosen for this recognition, as NATAS explained, “As admired individuals who have made enduring contributions to daytime television. Inductees are exceptional professionals who have performed distinguished service within the television industry, setting standards for achievement, mentoring, leadership and professional accolades for 50 or 25 years, respectively. They represent the best and brightest in the industry.”

Some daytime favorites in front of the camera and behind the scenes made this year’s honor roll.

The 2024 Gold Circle Inductees are:

Jerome Dobson, Writer: Guiding Light, As the World Turns, General Hospital, Santa Barbara 

A Martinez, Actor: Santa Barbara, General Hospital, Days of our Lives and The Bay.

Suzanne Rogers, Actress: Days of Our Lives

Patricia Denney, Former Hair and Makeup Department Head: The Young and The Restless

Kathleen Finch, Chairman and CEO, US Networks, Warner Brothers Discovery

‘Entertainment Tonight’s’ Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner Back as Hosts for 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

CBS and The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced on Thursday that Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner are set to return as hosts for the upcoming 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, airing live on Friday, June 7 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+*.

This marks the third Daytime Emmys in a row that the ‘ET’ combo has hosted the festivities, having done son in 2022 and 2023.

In addition, Frazier and Turner are also nominated this year for Daytime Emmys in the Outstanding Daytime Personality- Daily category. That is in addition to ‘ET’ being in the running for Outstanding Entertainment News series.

Frazier has been co-host with Entertainment Tonight since September 2014. Previously, he was co-host and managing editor of The Insider and a correspondent and weekend host of ‘ET.’

As for Turner she has been the co-host of ‘ET’ since 2021. Nischelle first joined the entertainment news program as a correspondent back in 2014. Turner is an award-winning journalist with ‘ET’, and often lends her voice to entertainment and political news shows, along with joining their coverage on the Grammys, Golden Globes and Oscars. She was previously was an entertainment contributor for CNN.

This year marks the 18th time CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmy Awards, more than any other network. The show will broadcast live from the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles.

Days Of Our Lives

TODAY: Days of our Lives Icon Deidre Hall Guest Stars on ‘Hacks’

As we previously reported, Days of our Lives star Deidre Hall (Marlena) is playing a version of herself on the hit Max comedy series, Hacks. The episode dropped today on May 23rd and is already available for streaming.

In it, Deidre plays Jimmy’s mother (Paul W. Downs). For those in the know, Downs is not only one of co-creators and stars of Hacks, but as it turns out is a fan of Days of our Lives.

Speaking on her guest star appearance, Hall told TV Insider, “I was told by Paul and Lucia Aniello (co-creator) that Paul’s mom was a longtime fan of DAYS and of Marlena, and then she introduced him to the show when he was a toddler.“

Deidre added, “So when they were looking for a person to play Paul’s mother, they said, ‘Wait a minute, are we crazy? Why don’t we see if we can get Deidre.’”

As to her guest star turn, Hall previewed,“The script was written that the part is ‘legendary Deidre Hall,’ so I didn’t have to reach too far for what she looks like, what she sounds like, how she moved.”

In story, Deidre got the opportunity to work with Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd, whom she shared, “Working with Christopher Lloyd was probably the most daunting thing that’s happened to me for a while.” Hall added, “He was just the loveliest.”

According to Hall, her Days of our Lives co-stars will be tuning-in at some point today or this evening to catch her appearance, which she is very excited about.

Hacks stars Jean Smart as everyone’s favorite comedian Deborah Vance. In season 3, the critically acclaimed and Emmy-wining comedy series explores the dark mentorship between a legendary stand-up comedian and young, entitled comedy writer.
