This Week On General Hospital: Will Franco Get Shot? Or, Will Someone Else Take The Hit?

Courtesy/ABC
Franco’s return in the form of Roger Howarth has twisted the citizens of Port Charles on General Hospital in quite the revengeful way!
So much so, that they are willing to shoot him dead! But who will do it? Sonny, Carly, Shawn, Sam? And, will Franco really get shot? Doesn’t seem like it from this ABC promo which relates that things take a tragic turn and then Shawn very upset slumping to the floor stating, “What have I done?”
Watch this week’s ABC promo of General Hospital after the jump! Then, let us know now what you think of Roger Howarth as Franco, and are you seeing it propel story forward? Do you think this week’s event will give fans some excitement after many have related they have not been so happy with recent episodes?
If Franco gets shot- what’s Roger Howarth going to do then? Off the show or come back as a THIRD character?
*snort* Of course it’s not gonna be Franco.
If GH get’s rid of the Franco character I’m done watching the show.
There is NO actor in the world who could make the character of Franco acceptable to me. All the whitewashing being done is wasted — just as this character should be. I want him gone…NOW!
I think he can be partly redeemed (and still be a bad guy. We need a real bad guy on GH). He’ll do a few good things, still be scary and psycho, and hopefully we can all love him for it. After all, Todd at first, not a nice or good guy. Same with Luke. So, after he doesn’t get shot, I’m still for giving him a chance!
Please God don’t let this travesty continue. Let them blow his brains out . But I know RC and FV cannot let their pets go no matter how much they run GH into the ground. We MUST have our priorities !
Franco is awesome!!
If you pay attention Franco has been suspected of killings but he was never proven to be the killer, now or in the past of being a serial killer.
I think he killed maybe 2 or 3 people that were actually known to be killed by him
he was a kidnapper , not a killer..
Franco is going to have many fans 🙂
i agree you suoooo
I think RH is great as Franco. He’s funny, menacing and all the great things that make a soap opera character fun to watch!!! Love it
GMAB He Only killed 2 or three people????? If he ONLY killed 2 or three people he is a killer to me and being a kidnapper is not much better. How would you or anyone like a loved one or a child of theirs to be kidnapped by that bastard. I dont like the franco character never did and i am not alone. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Roger Howarth but i think it was a BIG BIG mistake to bring him on as Franco of all people. I dont find and never did find the franco character entertaining and that is what a soap is supposed to be entertainment. Whitewashing Francos rape of sam and ordered rape of michael is WRONG. I am not being entertained by watching franco run around with a smirk on his face knowing he is getting away with murder. This is why GH is DEAD LAST in the new ratings that came out today. I dont understand GH obsession with the three OLTL actors. Silas as played by michael easton is HORRIBLE THEY DEHUNKED a hunk of a man and made him into a dweeb. KIKI Please even the name is annoying. I watched Kirstin alderson as starr manning on OLTL since she came on that show at age 6 and i liked her NOW OH BOY if i never saw her again it would be too soon. My only consolation is that a character like Franco who is a VILLAIN generally has a short shelf life and by that i mean they generally run their course and are not on the show long term. I expect when Rogers contract is up whether that is next year or this year he and Franco will be gone from GH. He should be on OLTL FULL TIME as todd manning where he belongs.
ROGER will blow u away with his portrayal of Franco #teamRoger
The Franco character by RH, is really great!!
It is shaking up PC and once again GH is full of high octane excitement!!
RH and Franco, this new Franco, are made for each other.
I really like this Franco..
I leave the past behind where it belongs, in the past..
A soap opera is stories for entertainment and I am being entertained by
Franco and all the new stories!!!
{{{{{{ I’m a New Franco fan!! }}}}}}}
I like those scenes he has with the Quartimaines and RH is great as Franco!!!
that was really good at the quartermaines
Two thumbs up! I couldn’t have said it better!
I agree!
I hope Shawn shoots RORH. dead. Franco is scum, and if frankenRon can’t let the OL characters go why don’t they just go back there. I do not want to watch the Todd smirk and see everyone cow tow to him the way they did to Sonny and Jason.
I’M holding out for a hero, a real one not some whitwashed jerk, who did so many evil things most people were cheering when Jason shot him. I think that was the only time I rooted for Jason. hated him but when they got rid of Franco I was happy. We need a hero!
So Jason..the hitman, thug, mob enforcer who said once that ‘killing is the only thing I was ever good at” — who did the bidding of one Sonny Corinthos without question, beat people up, blackmailed, and engaged in numerous other criminal activitieis — that guy was a hero, then?
Yeah, no whitewashing there at all.
RH is doing a fine job and i am loving this storyline. I am hoping for a Franco/Ava/Aj/Liz story
So with you!! I am loving the new Franco and can’t wait to see the full new Q clan!!!
maybe Diane gets shot… or one of Alexis family (returning for Rafe’s guardian hearing results). That would be very upsetting to Shaun.
I do not think Franco will get shot. They didn’t go thru all this trouble of getting Roger in that new role to have him murdered right away.
They won’t shoot Franco, he just started this role. Maybe it will be Molly or Alexis that gets in the line of fire instead.
That way itll cause Shaun regrets and problems in his relationship with Alexis thats been pretty boring.
It will be either Alexis or Olivia
I really like RH… and would loved to have seen him play anyone but Franco!!! Unfortunately they will not kill off the Franco character… as much as we wish! He deserves someone like Brit… hope they meet and she is intriqued by him. Has anyone noticed all of a sudden we have a plethera of mean…nasty… and annoying characters? We have Franco, Brit, Felix’s sister, Brad, Kiki, and Silas Clay. Every time we turn around someone is being mean or nasty or just plain annoying. It’s getting a bit much!
I loved Todd and Carly, they were a perfect match. I can’t imagine a scenario where Franko redeems himself, and I completely love the misguided bad guy/ good guy that RH played so well. Carly needs a new love she can truly go toe to toe with. Franko is story line I was never fond of, but the real Franko did it well. I have a hard time adjusting to recasting anyway, this just feels wrong.
I live in the USA so why does it say this video not available in my country?
Well, Christina is leaving, right? Maybe Shawn kills Alexis’s daughter.
Molly already said she’s gone off to a new college for summer school, so I doubt it’s her.
I RC is great. I think Todd as Franco is okay for now, they need to change him too a different person let’s face it no one can play Franco like James Franco. he was the best. I thought the way they did Todd’s hair he was going to be Jason. but no one can play Jason as well as Steve himself. but we all have to move on I still think a replacement for Jason will help GH ratings, because we never finished the whole story line we had no happy ending. well Sam had no happy ending I really expected Sam to finally be happy now look her poor baby Danny has cancer( maybe) Franco came back and a guy who did all those tragic things is expecting to be forgiven I don’t think so . I think they need to come up with a better story! well that’s all I have to say for now. Ill keep watching to see what comes of this.
Send Roger back to One Life where he belongs.
not the OLTL it is now. he’s so much more entertaining on GH since the demise of the REAL OLTL.
I agree. And saying an actor ‘belongs’ on any show over another is patently ridiculous. Actors want to play characters. They can choose to go where they want in order to do so.
I’m guessing either Connie or Olivia will get shot but if I could wish it would be Rafe
Down below I suggested Luke or Anna, but I hadn’t yet seen the whole week’s episodes. Having seen them, I now think Olivia will be the victim. She is going to push herself into Franco’s face again — like she did on Friday — just as Shawn is pulling the shot. It was set up, also, that she is apparently Connie’s ONLY source of support and stability, you know, with all those memories of what Olivia had done for lil’ cousin Connie, like working weekends to buy Connie a purse for her birthday. A purse that, it was conveniently mentioned, Connie has kept for sentimental reasons. Connie will start carrying that purse and, voila, will go bats again. Since Kelly Sullivan is SUCH a good actress, I can live with that! And if SHE ever figures out that Sonny ordered the hit, well….
I kind of thought Lulu got her memory back a bit too quickly, therefore another storyline is being set up for Dante and Lulu. If Dante figures out his dad arranged for the hit that went awry, probably killing his mother, well…I wouldn’t want to be Sonny Corinthos. And, they had also been really pushing the Olivia/Sonny relationship, bringing them back as exceptionally close, at least as friends. Since Olivia NEVER mentions Steve anymore, and apparently has NO sadness over the loss of that great love, one can only assume that Olivia will be used for other character’s storylines, since the storyline SHE had — dealing with her sadness over the loss of the love of her life — is over. I hope I am wrong. I genuinely like Olivia, as she is a kind, loving (if sometimes overly pushy) character. But I can see how storylines for Connie/Kate, Dante and Lulu, Sonny…would really be propelled by this. Maybe she won’t die, but nonetheless, that seems like the set-up, after this week’s shows.
Um, don’t think Shawn is going to be around much longer. Therefore, more angst for TJ, which will bring Molly back into his orbit. Don’t think Shawn will be arrested — then he could implicate Carly and Sonny — but see him making a quick exit.
GH is heating up for summer! I’m all kinds of excited for this new Franc-Q storyline for Roger! Watching the reactions of PtCharles citizens and how this affects everyone has been great. GH took a big gamble with this, and for me it’s working. As to who gets shot…. I’m guessing maybe Olivia but I have no idea.
I like Roger but frankly not Franco. I also thought bringing back the 3 actors as 3 different characters on the same day was a terrible idea. Too much.
I have mixed feelings. My first is I’m a huge James Franco fan and I thought he was incredibly entertaining in his mad, diabolical portrayal of Franco. I also happen to think he’s gorgeous but that’s beside the point!
As for Roger as Franco…after I get past my disappointment that James didn’t return in the role…I think Roger is doing a fantastic job. He’s hilarious…he makes hating him fun…and yet there’s always something likeable in the characters he portrays.
And oh please…with everyone complaining how horrible Franco was/is…
MOST ALL the characters started off evil:
Luke a rapist
Sonny a mob chief/killer
Jason a killer
Shawn a killer
Carly a husband stealing user who stole her son from his biological father and then tried to get him drunk
Sam slept with her mother’s husband
Tracy taunted her “dead” nephew when he came back instead of rejoicing in his being alive (and yes, I know they didn’t get along…)
The list goes on and on…
Jerry Jax? He’s about as evil as they come but I also love when he’s on the show…same vein…funny, diabolical, entertaining.
It’s a soap and I for one think GH has been really good.
The one thing, though minor, that irks me is why they made Roger’s hair blonde. f(I actually think he looks good) but Franco had brown hair…Todd Manning had something in between. So, I actually think he’d resemble the original Franco more with dark brown hair. Just a thought…
As for who gets shot…I’m thinking maybe AJ. I hope not. I LOVE AJ!
The show did go downhill after the nurses ball but with RH as Franco combined with the bickering Quartimaines is making the show fun to watch again. They still need to show more Anna, Duke, Laura, Scotty and Leslie. I like to think Laura and Scotty went on their honeymoon but wheres Leslie…she go with them? I like to see a scene where Monica is at Ricks grave and Leslie shows up.
It’s weird…the vets are almost part of a different show for me. I’ve been watching for years…and I LOVED that so many came back. But Anna and Duke? Not the same. When they first brought Anna back she had a lot of air time; great chemistry with Patrick, Emma, Luke…but though I’d love to see her and Duke together, dunno know. Just something’s missing. Perhaps it’s air time! LOL…They just dropped the ball on that. Where IS Duke???
Love Laura and Scot. I actually like him; always have. I think he’s funny/charming/endearing/goofy/sincere…and genuine in his way. And I love the quips between him and Luke. But…are they keeping him on? Will he have air time???
Lucy! Don’t get me started on dear, adorable, quirky Lucy. Love her! Where’d she go??? And Doc. Last I tuned in (lost a few episodes I think) Doc was back. Would like to see him stay too…And, it’d be fun to see Lucy and the new Franco together! Think they’d be hilarious together.
Robert. I said this from the beginning of his “coma.” They just left him hanging in oblivion. I mean..come on! It’s Mac’s brother! He never mentions him let alone seems worried or down. Anna? That’s the father of her daughter! Tney were always so close…Luke? His best friend…not a word, not a visit? For smart writers they either have amnesia and forgot where they put him…or they think their audience are idiots and we forgot. Either way…fail!
Nicolas. Love him and so glad he’s back. He won’t be staying if his other show gets renewed so I’m kinda hoping he stays put. At the same time I don’t want him to get between AJ and Liz. I really want AJ to catch some breaks!
With alllll my questions and complaints, I’m still enjoying the show a lot. (Although Sabrina, who I was a big fan of, is really getting on my nerves. She’s TOO accomodating, too meek…and still seems in awe of Patrick rather than his woman. There’s just something missing the way they’re writing this…
Love Sam and the baby story which I’m sure will branch out to involve others.
Love Michael…and I love that he’s bonded with AJ
Love as i said above Roger’s Franco…think it’s going to be fun…
They’ve really destroyed Diane. She has no loyalty at all any more. Not funny…they kinda stripped her of her charm.
What I do know is that GH is the only soap I’m enjoying right now. Hope they can somehow manage to stay on ABC…because until PP figures out their stuff the others aren’t worth watching.
maybe Silas is really Caleb?
Thanks for reply…i havent seen Lucy so long i almost 4got about her. And what about Mac and Felicia…shouldnt they be planning their wedding? It does seem like 2 soaps…GH: The Next Generation when the show Sabrina, Felix, and Brett! Then when and if they show the vets its the GH i remember! I do like the newbies but RC needs to show more of the vets that got us hooked in the first place. All soaps need to connect newbies with the vets more…it makes them more acceptable to most fans.
UGH my spelling!!!
LOL…spelling is fine….
You’re right…they do need to connect the vets with the newbies. That’s where the disconnect is. It’s not young vs old in terms of age…they just haven’t found a way to incorporate them on to the canvas together.
It’s like they start something, ala Duke and Anna, Felicia and Mac, Robert’s coma, Lucy back in town…even the tease that Caleb is still alive when he walked out of the autopsy room…and then they just drop em! No mention…for weeks!
I guess it’s to their credit that I like ALL the stories they’re doing so I seem to get engrossed in whatever characters they’re concentrating on at the time…but in reality (hahaha, like soaps have ANYTHING to do with reality) they need to finish…or conitnue…what/who they start!
changed my mind after seeing Friday’s episode; think Kiki will get shot….
I think id like to see Josh Taylor leave Days and join GH as the new Jeff Webber…it would be nice to see Monicas ex back in PC. Then Monica could have renewed feelings for Jeff after he saves A.J.s life if A.J. had been the one shot but Jeff has feelings now for his ex sister in law Leslie!
Obviously Franco will be the bone marrow donor for Danny and that’s how they will redeem him so RH can remain on the show.
Thats a good possibility…
Franco’s arc may not be about redemption. At least not right now.
Not Kiki, I don’t think, because this is being hyped as a tragedy, and she isn’t yet tied to everyone in PC. I also don’t think it will be Connie or Olivia; not enough “weight” to them for it to be billed as a tragedy that affects the WHOLE town. Two possibles, because it would affect EVERYONE in PC: Anna or Luke. If Luke, it will especially be a blow to Carly, as he is her uncle, and she PUSHED for the hit to happen. As Sonny told her, if you go this route, it will be with you for the rest of yur life. It has to be someone who’s injury will have a HUGE impact on Carly. Won’t be Michael. We’ve been there. Won’t be Morgan. NO ONE CARES!!!! WIth their history, if anything were to happen to Luke, Sonny would be DEVASTATED. It will be a very MAJOR character, I think, and you don’t get more major than either Anna or Luke. If it is Luke, you can bet that Luke and Laura AIN’T over, that’s just another Cartini “trick.”
Niether Luke nor Anna would die, of course, but if anything happened to either one, welll…everyone in PC would “hurt” emotionally.
Another reason I am leaning toward Luke as the victim. Ever since the “kiss,” after which Luke and Laura called it quits, Luke has turned back to drinking. He isn’t drinking because he lost his daughter. With Luke it is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS about Laura. She grounds him in decency and reality. He has quietly fallen apart since she married Scotty. And the ONLY person in PC who gets this is Tracy. She knows. I know lot of viewers seem to have “turned” on Luke, and on Tony Geary, but Tony’s subtle take on Luke’s slow decline, his loss of any reason to care or to live, are heartbreaking to me. Geary remains the gold-standard of soap actors as far as I am concerned. And even thirty years later, NO couple moves me like Luke and Laura. Genie and Tony are sheer magic together, now as much as then, and I DO NOT think they are over. If something happens to Luke, Scotty needs to worry again, which is where our dear Lucy comes back in. As for the women who have loved Luke? It is not just Laura, it is Tracy and Anna, too. I suspect Luke will be the victim, and if so, all of GH will be turned on its head. Carly’s uncle; Micheal and Morgan’s great uncle; Nicholas’s”step-father”; Sonny’s one-time best friend; Dante’s father-in-law…He touches everyone.
Well, according to a spolier from another site, Tracy catches Luke drinking, so he isn’t the victim. I guess whomever it is must really die. Can’t for the life of me think who. Not Spinelli, is it, since the actor is no longer “on contract”?
Please let somebody take Frood out and then Kiki next.
Tristan, couldn’t agree with you more re Luke and Laura: You are right: no one moves me like Luke and Laura. I surely hope you are right also about Luke’s grieving for Laura. But, alas, Tony Geary is off on vacation and poor Genie Francis is stuck in ugly, ill-fitting clothes and mundane dialogue. Such a waste of her luminous presence. Such poor treatment of a great star.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
