TODAY: "The Clash of the Condiments"! General Hospital's AJ and Tracy Visit THE CHEW!

The relish wars go to new heights on today’s episode of General Hospital when Tracy (Jane Elliot) and AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) visit ABC’s The Chew in episodes where the fictional characters of Port Charles appear on the cooking show!

The scenes were directed by General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valentini in a crossover story between the two ABC branded series.

On Monday: AJ and Tracy face off on the segment “Clash of The Condiments” with The Chew co-hosts: Mario Batali, Carla Hall, Daphne Oz, and Michael Symon all tasting the opposing relish. The big question remains: which relish will be victorious?

So GH fans, what do you think of the concept of having Pickle-Lila being a centerpiece between the two ABC daytime shows?  Do you think it’s a clever idea?  Are you in for the ride? Or, are you on the opposite side of the fence, where you don’t think it’s cool that GH is integrating a story with The Chew, given that The Chew replaced an ABC soap in All My Children?  Share your thoughts!

It will be amusing to see AJ & Tracy battle it out, but I hate that ABC is promoting “The Chew!” on our soap.

This is a chance for General Hospital to get a wider audience so that is a good thing in my book.

well, when you put it that way, hopefully they DO get more attention! 🙂

But you have to admit that Ron is the master of the “inside joke” He made the “Chew”- Spew- literally. We know that is teh nickname disgruntled soaps fans gave that show. I thought it was brilliant satire.
Also loved when named the stage manager at the Chew- Todd, so when he asked Roger’s Howarth new character what his name was, you heard another stage hand calling the name Todd- (looking for the stage manager, but timed perfectly). It too was brilliant. And whole relish war is a satire for their feud with PP. It has gone on bit too long, but I like Ron’s digs along the way.

Hopefully the Pickle-Lila storyline is kaput now. It’s gone on waaay too long and Jane Elliot deserves so much more than this storyline. I’d like to see Luke & Tracy back at it and Laura getting jealous so we can get back to L&L again somehow!!
Loved when the stage manager called out “Todd!” that was brilliant and seeing RH’s face not flinch. Funny. So love that RH is back!! Missed him.

I agree with you…i loved the scene when the stage manager called out TODD! TODD! with rh standing there!

I don’t watch the Chew. I’m annoyed by this. Pickle Lila story sucks. I will FF these parts.

I hate The Spew and this was just the push I needed to take GH off my Season Pass list. I only started watching GH b/c ABC cancelled AMC and OLTL, and I was on the fence about whether or not to continue. Thanks ABC for making my decision for me. Screw the Chew.

Am I the only one who noticed The Chew SPEW connection in the condiment s/l? Hey at least they are listening…..

This story has gone in way to long, it’s so STUPID!!! Now The Chew really???? That’s a slap in the face to soap fans!!!! I will continue to Fast Forward this crap!!! It better end soon. ENOUGH RELISH ALL READY!!! It was cute for the 50th but now ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

And it makes no sense- if your company success depends on relish — it really could not have been that great of a company to begin with. The only thing amusing was the relish wars was a way to mock the legal battles with PP– they got a few digs using relish to represent those three actors and whose property was who–but other than that , it lost its charm long time ago. I don’t FF because I am watching the broadcast as it airs- but I do channel surf during those scenes

Relish, The Chew, Dr Britch & Sabrina do not = Love in the afternoon..only Fast Forwarding my favorite show!!!!

As soon as they mentioned the Chew on GH, I fast forwarded through any scene with Traci and Nicholas that came on. I have no interest in being slapped in the face, AGAIN, by ABC by reminding us that they cancelled our soaps for this crap!

As much as I like GH, if they continue to use it as advertising the Chew, I will stop watching it. Let them cancel it as far as I am concerned, because if they do then PP gets the licensing anyway. As good as AMC and OLTL are on the internet, I can only imagine how much greater GH would be there, and then they could share actors all they want.

First , I truly cannot believe that anyone thinks PP’s version of OLTL is better than ABC’s… I just can’t wrap my head around that!

Don’t get me wrong…I’m rooting for Prospect Park to succeed…I hope their shows improve (not sure if they coudl get worse)…and I TOTALLY resent ABC for pulling the plug on the soaps. BUT! In all honesty OLTL was a much better show when it was with them. Thus, I have no desire to see GH go that route at this point; would much rather ratings be up for GH so that ABC doesn’t dump them.

I think the relish war is enjoyable. It’s in line with the crazy antics of the Q family…just wish there were more of them left to get involved. If we had Alan, Emily, Lila, Edward all sitting around the family room arguing or taking sides (and let’s not forget Alice)…it’d be a typical Quartermaine affair.

I’m hoping AJ wins…and I also hope he tells Elizabeth what happened between him and Carly so he has a fighting chance this time…

Oh, as far as The Chew, while I also don’t like the cross promotion due to the circumstances, I do think it’s a cute way to bring a bit of “reality” to the GH world. Sorta interactive…

one thing for sure… they need to rectify immediately…

give Dorian a serious love interest…

they should bring back… Brian Kerwin… as Charlie Banks…

formidable allies, dalliances, … will be elevated without dialogue…

between Dorian and Vicki… this would be easier to keep alive thise magical twosome… Brian Kerwin is a Hot Man.

sensible comments like your rebecca is what i like the best. wish i wrote it. oltl was better on abc…

Screw the Chew, I can’t believe I had to SUFFER through General Hospital with those idiots, HELLO, they killed ALL MY CHILDREN for this mess of a show and if I wasn’t pissed off before, I am really pissed off now, ABC sure loves to rub the noses of the soap fans in the dirt, I will never give in to ABC for taking AMC and OLTL off and changing my daytime viewing, I won’t be giving up watching GH we have to support what soaps are left, But I like ABC less then I did before todays show.

hey Barbara t! but didn’t you just love it that the Chew’s debut on GH was to barf, and barf and barf…. much like we do when forced to watch their show! te he he

LOL That’s what I was thinking. They sure did SPEW!!!!!!!! At least in that respect they were true to AMC/OLTL and ABC soap fans.

Yes Christy, You are right about that, BARF, BARF, BARF, I hate the CHEW and have no plans on EVER watching it or ABC again, Just General Hospital and that is it, ABC is a dead channel on my TV.

Sorry, Michael, I have to agree with most of these comments. I can’t fully express how much I hated having the cast from The Spew on GH, and how dumb the whole relish storyline is! If this fiasco of an idea does bring GH more viewers, they’re going to need them, after many of the former GH fans stop watching! I feel sorry for Frank V, Ron C, and especially Jane and Sean for having to participate in this whole mess. The illness that the Spew crew “suffered” at the end of today’s episode of GH exactly mimicked how we viewers felt after being subjected to this nauseating cross-over!

There’s got to be a better use of the Quartermaine family. This stunt is a major snooze fest. Not watching.

I am sure they had to do the episode plugging The Chew for all the publicity The Chew gave GH’s 50th. I don’t watch or care for The Chew… but I appreciate all the publicity they gave GH’s 50th anniversary and so I think it is only fair to reciprocate. I love anything when Jane Elliot is in it!!!

I would be more happy with a crossover with a show that didn’t have anything to do with the demise of OLTL and AMC… a night time show would be preferable… like Castle!

Did anyone count how many times they said “The Chew” on GH the last few episodes? Must have been at least a hundred!

Refuse to watch GH until Mario “Get over it” Batali and his Chew crew are gone off the show. What a slap in the face to us soap fans to promote this show and put the actors through this insult. I still boycott ABC, except for GH, for taking away our beautiful shows.

For it or against it, at least ABC is doing cross promotions. They are a business, and they have every right to run their business how they see fit. They cant take back what they did under Frons…they can only go forward. I think they are showing that they are behind GH. This show garnered more mainstream press buzz during the 50th anniversary than soaps possibly ever have. I think the storyline is a little wonky…ELQ is supposedly a global business with very diversified holdings…the fact that they are pinning ALL their future hopes on relish is fairly ridiculous and short-sighted. It was a cute plot point back when Lila did it, but thats what it was…a plot point. It was not a front burner all encompassing storyline that consumed all the business maneuvering and storylines. It is a nice nod to the past, and hopefully it will be wrapped up fairly quickly. And does Tracy have to be bitchy and snarky in EVERY scene?? Could she ever talk in a normal voice, and show some genuine emotion? It would be more interesting to see the Q‘s fighting an outside force! AJ just came back from the dead, and Tracy acts like she wishes he was dead. Despite their squabbling, the Q‘s have always been blood and there for each other.

I find the relish wars to be sad. I can’t even call it stupid because the s/l is just so pathetic. All the actors involved in that mess deserve way better, actually the show deserves way better. I don’t know when GH started going down the tube for me, but I couldn’t even make it through the first 5 minutes of today’s episode before I changed the channel.

Well, whether or not the Chew gives GH advertising. that was the most stupidest hour of TV I’ve watched in a long frigging time. I’ve never seen a more awkward group of morons on a talk show and it was painful watching them trying to be funny. I’m sorry, but who the hell eats relish on crackers?? This whole storyline needs to go away and hopefully once they all puked up their pickles, that will be the end of this.

Using GH for ratings, cross-sell, or whatever for The Chew, or the other way around, should always remind us to never trust ABC, ever!

I love the Chew and have been a GH fan for 50 years! Merge them with a little relish. Done with great taste! Thanks.

I didn’t watch the episode because I am still boycotting The Chew at every opportunity. I heard they all got sick. I would have laughed heartily had I seen the episode. I hope they don’t put The Chew on any of the soaps anymore–I even turn the channel if there is a The Chew commercial on. Yuk!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
