TODAY: Y&R’s Eric Braeden to Appear on ‘The Talk’

Photo: SonjaFleming/CBS

UPDATED: The iconic, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) of The Young and the Restless will be a guest on the Friday, February 4th episode of the CBS afternoon chatfest, The Talk.

Braeden is now celebrating his 42nd year as Genoa City’s Victor and will discuss his longtime career with the hosts.  Tune-in today at 2PMEST/1PMPST on CBS.

Just added is a clip from Eric’s guest spot on The Talk below where host Sheryl Underwood asks, “Is Victor really letting the kids take over? “No, I mean a little bit, you know,” says Braeden. “But I’m watching like a hawk. One misstep…can’t let go. I think it’s difficult for some fathers, powerful fathers, to let go and let their children, their sons or their daughters take over, very hard. In real life, not so hard.”

Braeden also weighs-in on two of his favorite scenes with Victor Newman’s mom (Dorothy McGuire) and dad (George Kennedy). Eric shared: “I lost my father early on and I was born in the middle of the Second World War, 1941…we plunged into poverty when he died, when I was 12…war is a terrible thing…so, it touched nerves in me, I think. As an actor you go back to what you experienced all your life, especially in your childhood.” He adds, “We did that scene in one take. What people don’t realize about daytime, we do this stuff in one or two takes…The most I’ve ever done in one day was 62 pages of dialogue. So you just cram in between scenes, you just cram, but it keeps your mind sharp.”

Now let us know, when you think of all of Victor’s storylines and moments over the years, which ones still stand out to you and are some of your favorites? Let us know in the comment section below.

Sorry Erics a bust for me. Funny how when he wasnt the ‘ focus’ of the show during the Mal Young tenure he was so vocal! Twittering about Jordans Rey and the Rosales taking over the show and sidelining Doug Davidson and himself but now thats he on every day its a ok in genoa city!???? The show is boring a.f and the plots make lil to no sense, Victor constantly in repetitive mode putting his children against eachother for no real cause or purpose! The show has three sets and is so cheap looking i ve seen theater in… Read more »

Damien, I don’t agree about Mia Rosales — I thought she was an ill-conceived character; I never knew what to think of her. But the show is WAY OFF BALANCE. Abby, Chance, and Devon EVERY DAY! EVERY DAY! Victoria’s twisted, malicious vendetta against Adam, which Victor has no problem with, is stomach churning. The only interesting thing about Tessa & Mariah is Rory Gibson’s soulful performances as the crushed Noah. We do have a little more Michael and Lauren lately. But where’s Kevin, Gloria, Traci, Jill, Ashley, Paul, Esther? The soaps I grew up with were ensembles, not “star” shows… Read more »

I agree ! The sets are terrible , the writing is atrocious, anyone with half a brain could turn this show around with better writing , better sets , and the original Music scores . I haven’t watched the show for the first time in 20 years ! I stopped watching because nothing happens, no big storylines, no villains (real villains like Tricia Dennison , Sheila Carter , David Kimble . The sets are cheap , every scene is bright , the music in the background is cheesy . Go back and watch clips from the 70’s , 80s and… Read more »

In the entertainment business, you can’t publicly bash the hand that feeds you….the EP for one and the HW for another. You do that, they’ll land you in Siberia with no storyline at all or they’ll fire you all together.

Always enjoy his interviews. Love the photos above with his parents. The mother wasnt too bad but that father was a piece of work.

I quite enjoyed his time on The Talk today. He had some interesting stories and made people laugh during some of them. And he sounded like Victor. As for his character on Y&R though, I don’t like how he continually plays his children off one other.

Eric Breaden is a excellent actor on icon ,he is the show , I have so much respect for him as a actor and a person. My favorite stuff is Victor vs Jack ,that rivalry is the best on TV. Eric and Peter work so well together. Victor and Nikki are the show. Yes the writing is suffering ,but it’s not that bad, and I am a loyal fan of the show for almost 40 years. If people are so unhappy why not petition to get Josh Griffith fired instead of complaining all the time. Eric is the best.

Eric Braeden is an amazing articulate actor but I hope Victor can put an obstacle on the developing pairing of Adam and Sally they’re so boring and they have zero chemistry when Fenmore Baldwin returns he should be Sallys new love interest not Adam Zach Tinker and Courtney Hope will definitely look superhot together.

Fenmore is too nice for Sally. She likes the bad boy type, strong and dynamic like Adam that won’t fall over if she blows on him.

Andy Kaufman to be Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

The late comedian, Andy Kaufman has been announced as an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

Kaufman, who was best-know as Latka Gravas in the hit sitcom Taxi from 1978-1983, loved pro wrestling and used it in a gimmick quite often in his comedy routine including several times on Saturday Night Live.

Andy eventually declared himself the ‘Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World’, offering money to any woman who could pin him as part of his act.  This led to a feud with fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Jerry “The King” Lawler.

As the rouse continued, Lawler and Kaufman convinced the audience they were bitter enemies. Some of the highlights of their faux feud included: Kaufman claiming that Lawler broke his neck when Lawler performed a piledriver on him, and the two trading insults on Late Night with David Letterman before Lawler slapped Kaufman, knocking Andy out of his chair.

Lynne Margulies, Kaufman’s partner, even received a book deal over the antics. It was called Dear Any Kaufman, I Hate Your Guts.  The contents were from a compilation of hate mail, Andy received from the women he challenged to wrestle on Saturday Night Live.

Sadly, Kaufman died from lung cancer and was never a smoker back in 1984.  He was only 34-years-old.

In an ironic twist to the upcoming ceremony, Lawler recently suffered another stroke back in February of this year, and while he would be the perfect choice to induct Hoffman into the Hall of Fame, it is unclear at this time if he would even be able to.

Kaufman joins Rey Mysterio Jr. and The Great Muta as the class of 2023 thus far.

The Hall of Fame ceremonies that will stream live on Peacock direct from Los Angeles on March 31st, the night before Wrestlemania 39 begins.

Check out two of Andy’s matches – one against a woman from Memphis Wrestling and one from his battles with Jerry Lawler.

So, what do you think about Andy Kaufman being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? Comment below.

Julianne Hough Replaces Tyra Banks as New Co-Host of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

After Tyra Banks revealed she was stepping away from Dancing with the Stars, a new co-host needed to be named and it looks like the reality-ballroom dance competition series has found their gal.

Julianne Hough, will rejoin the series, but this time as the new co-host alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.  Hough has previously appeared on the dance series as both a pro dancer and a judge.

With Julianne returning to the ballroom, she will be reunited with her brother, Derek Hough, who will be back at the judges table for the show’s upcoming 32nd season streaming on Disney+.

The new co-host has twice won the mirrorball trophy with celebrity partners, Apolo Ohno and Hélio Castroneves, during Dancing with the Stars fourth and fifth seasons on ABC.

As for Tyra Banks, last week, she told TMZ that she felt that it was time for her to exit DWTS and focus on her business and entrepreneurship, and that she would also be producing more TV but behind the scenes.
