In addition, Dani comes home from the hospital having OD’d and puts a capitol “D” in dysfunctional family unit as Tea, Victor Jr, and Jack were supposed to celebrate Victor’s homecoming together, but that goes awry … meanwhile Todd is trying to apparently fight his feelings for Blair!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?
The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’

Good show today, definitely intrigued.
Can’t help but think there has to be more to Natalie having been asleep at work. No clues to suggest such, but I wonder if maybe Natalie will soon find herself in a family way.
I loved David trying to interview Todd. He and Todd were terrific together. I’m very worried about Victor. He’s acting so strange and distant. Can’t wait until we learn the truth about his ordeal over the last year. I hope whatever happened has not damaged him beyond repair. Tea and Dani and Jack need him. I am definitely worried about the surveillance cameras in Tea’s house and in Shelter.
Matthew going back to work for Clint was a shock. Clint had the nerve to say to Matthew, “Don’t make me regret this.” I say to Clint, “Don’t you start manipulating and using Matthew for your own agenda like you did before.”
Can you tell? I’m loving this show.
OLTL is starting to get really good for me. I must admit I felt AMC had the stronger first week and OLTL was my favorite out of the two before they were cancelled. I think AMC focused more on the character relationships to help establish the new actors and they did a great job at it. They first two episodes of OLTL felt more plot driven but I guess it was easier for them to do that because a lot of the cast that was on before are back. Both shows will keep getting hotter as they go!
I agree with you. I liked AMC week 1 better but now OLTL is coming back strong this week. OLTL is still my fave! Still missing Rex, Roxy, and Jessica!
I love, that is all needed to say; I love it !!!!
One Life is awesome!
VICTOR OBVIOUSLY HAS PTSD AFTER BEING TORTURED,BEING SHOT TWICE ON HIS MOTHERS ORDERS,I BELIEVE THE TWINS S/L TIES IN WITH DORIANSI THINK VICTOR WAS TORTOURED BY THE BLACKSITES CIA
I HOPE TSJ STAYS ,OLTL NEEDS HIIM . I NEED HIM ,LOL
I definitely agree Victor is dealing with some heavy shit. But so weird that the show never dealt with what Todd went through. No one even considers that his defense was actually the truth, and you’d think we’d at least have been given ONE scene where Blair asks Todd about all those horrible years he was imprisoned. It was unforgivable that the former writing team did that, and I hope that the tale of 2 Todds perhaps brings this issue to light.. perhaps Todd will be the one who understands Vidtors actions more than anyone, even as Victor is intent on destroying Todd. i mean, who knows, but my point is that we’re defiintely getting to see how the losses affetcted Victor.
One Life has been excellent and I can’t wait to see what happens next! The show has a fresh edgy feeling to it now . I do miss seeing Roxy, Rex and Jessica and hope they are brought back on.
How do I get to watch the show I love oltl I am still watching the old ones please
is there a reason that today’s episode (5/7) is not available yet? Already watched AMC
Where’s today’s episode of One Life to LIve? Hulu hasn’t posted the episode. After seeing yesterday’s episode, I definitely want to see what happens next.
EVERY EPISODE OF BOTH SHOWS ARE THE SHIT! THANK YOU PP AND THOM AND SUSAN ((EVEN THO SHE IS NOT THERE ANYMORE THESE EPISODES SHE DID WORK ON)) THESE SHOWS JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER AND LOVE THE WAY YOU MOVE THE STORY LINE ALONG NOT DRAGGING THEM OUT! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM BOTH!!!
So missing John McBain. Please recast soon. Perhaps someday Michael Easton will have a change of heart. He is so missed!
Yup.
Hmmm, where do I begin? I was soooooooooo sad when OLTL and AMC were cancelled by ABC. Angry too.Still boycott abc./disney. The only thing that helped with that was Roger H, kristen A and Michael E on GH…
I was thrilled , beyond thrilled, that prospect park came along and we now have OUR SHOWS BACK!!
Today is show 7, (and although I will watch and support for now, because I want this to work VERY MUCH)..I am not too excited about the direction of OLTL so far…Drugs, Bars, Thugs, LOTS OF CURSING…drinking..too much..over the top…and SHELTER seems to be the center of everything. I think it is a mistake,IMO…
I do get they want to attract a younger audience..(They always managed to do that for 40 years. ).but i think it is a mistake for the show to change characters as they did with Danny,9for one example) her whole attitude is so different..It’s not OLTL, it is very different…not the same program. I THINK THAT in itself is a huge mistake. OLTL was the best soap on Television..it really was..I hope they can get back to that..This NEW Version is not great so far…The only thing great about it..is Roger H and Trevor back on here…..with Bo, Nora… etc..I’m all for CUTTING edge new things…but this is way over the top to me…JMHO…
P.S) Also, There is an entire Audience of Young stay at home moms, who are/were faithful watchers….and Loved this show..ALOT. I think that the language and all of the non stop bar drinking, is not something most moms would have on during the day , while feeding babies and toddlers…etc.. I don’t think it is a program that is going to attract an entire group of those parents..who pass these shows on to their kids…to share with them..And It always was a Family type of show..even with many or the stories they covered…there was always a great balance…
I miss Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini….They really understood these characters…200%
The emotion isn’t there this time around. Victor’s return was botched by a lack of screen time between him and Vicki IMHO. I too miss RC’s writing. He and Frank did understand the characters. You’re right.
Yes, TSJ showed up ALIVE, and barley a flinch from anyone. It was odd. Very odd. especially how OLTL left off a year ago, he was tied to the bed..and everyone thought he was dead…i hope they fix this.. ABC /disney had no idea how special THEIR SOAPS WERE, and are…I could never get into any other soaps,,,on any other channel and have watch for 40 years since I was in elementary school…
Thios past year, I have tried to get into DOOL, and Y&R..awful to me..I just can’t. No one writes like Ron C and Franks team….no one. They have turned GH around as well…I hope things change.I miss my OLTL! LOL!
Carol.. there is no daytime only watching..
the stay at home mom watching the soaps went out years ago..
even moms of the 80’s recorded and watched at night, usually..
Now the mom’s watch 24hrs a day..
And any mom with teenage kids will see it as a family type show with teen issues, cus that is exactly how the now teens are and talk 🙂 It would be no big deal and is no big deal to anyone these days 🙂
I do realize that most people dvr things, I do too. But there is still stay at home moms, who also watch at home, during the day…Hey, I’ve come full circle, I’ve been watching forever..and while I enjoy the dvr..for when I miss it..when I can..i can’t wait to watch at home..most days I plan to watch at 2 or 3…for gh…now I watch hulu soaps early each a.m…love to be able to watch anytime..it’s great.
Trust me, I am very much aware or the way teens talk, and most people. Doesn’t make it right.,..it isn’t. That’s the problem imo.
Same way I feel about all the violence in our every day life…kids killing kids, murders, robberies everyone is so desensitized , because it’s what they see in our news 24/7. death and murders have become THE NORM, all day long it is what we hear on tv…it is in films ,videos..24/7 Doesn’t make it right…
I can’t even stand to watch news anymore..current events, because it is nothing but murders, rapes, robberies, drug overdoses..constant. And we wonder why people run around killing over everything and anything..they are so desensitized to it all..THATS why it is no big deal. .Im not an old geezer…LOL..I’m a very young mis 50’s …! But Wrong is wrong..and they are destroying my oltl!! I want it back..!
Ps) also, I always felt that OLTL and AMC portrayed Teen issues, and Life issues very well……..all of these years….and they did it without the crudeness that PP is now showing.. I think they did a gREAT job…on life issues.. and teens…and many problems current in todays world…but they did it with CLASS, and humor…and tears…with VERY WELL WRITTEN SCRIPTS…no need to have every other word a curse..
Same way I feel about Great comics..they don’t need to curse…every other word in their shctik…….That’s just how I feel about it..
I don’t mind a curse here or there…but too much, just seems ridiculous….
I still believe that Todd had nothing to do with Victor’s shooting back in 2011. I think the tattoo holds the key to most of the problems between the brothers and possibly the Allison Perkins involvement. I’m biding my time.
I agree… and I keep thinking in the back of my mind…. clone.
how many “Victors” are there … really? I know of 2 that had that same face. One is Todd’s brother… and one was Mitch Laurence’s brother…. or were they?
Irene, Mitch and Victor Sr. were all very twisted individuals, moving people around like chess pieces.
did you ever see A.I.? there were many “David”s and they all thought they were David.
Just so happy they’re back
I keep getting the vibe that Victor isn’t going to have a very long stay. He is very distant and he hasn’t even visited Sam yet… Does Sam even know he’s alive? I don’t think Todd is dead, more than likely knocked out, but after all the fighting PP put up for him I don’t see him being killed off.
One Life To Live would be better off keeping Victor Lord, Jr. in the storyline. I hope Trevor St. John is kept on the show. He is really bringing it!
I don’t want Todd to die . I want him to remain as Todd Manning ! What is with that tattoo
on Victor jr. wrist! Something is quite different with him even his behavoir with Tea . Grabbing her arm the other day. Alicen did a number on Victor.. He seems more to himself (pre-ocuppied)…Something is a little off with him !
