TONIGHT: Michael Fairman 60th Birthday Livestream Featuring Daytime Drama Favorites To Benefit SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Covid-19 Relief Fund

Photos:CBS, ABC, NBC

Tonight beginning at 7PM PST/10PM EST, Michael Fairman will celebrate his 60th birthday with the help of his virtual “party” guests from your favorite soaps to benefit the SAG/AFTRA Foundation’s Covid-19 Relief fund.   The event will be livestreamed on The Michael Fairman Channel on You Tube.

Scheduled to participate are: The Young and the Restless, Jason Thompson, Amelia Heinle, Sharon Case, Christian LeBlanc, and Jordi Vilasuso, General Hospital’s Laura Wright, Wes Ramsey, and Chloe Lanier, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang, Days of our Lives’ Rob Scott Wilson, Eric Martsolf, Galen Gering, Arianne Zucker, Shawn Christian and Stacy Haiduk, Santa Barbara favorite, A Martinez, and One Life to Live’s Kristen Alderson and Eddie Alderson, and more.

About the reason for tonight’s event: In early March of last year,  COVID-19 closed down nearly all productions, forcing tens of thousands of SAG-AFTRA artists to lose their survival jobs as well, (including restaurant jobs and the like) causing distress and economic uncertainty in Los Angeles, New York and nationwide .  On March 16, 2020, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation activated their COVID-19 Relief Fund for SAG-AFTRA artists in urgent need.  Since March, they have given more than $6.2 million in emergency aid to over 6,500 SAG-AFTRA performers and their families facing hardship and uncertainty during this pandemic. Thousands of SAG-AFTRA artists found themselves in dire need of assistance to help pay their rent, buy groceries, cover health care premiums and other bills. There are many industry charities, but the SAG-AFTRA Foundation is the only organization that gives 100% of its relief funds to SAG-AFTRA performers.

Throughout Michael’s virtual birthday party livestream, a link will be available to enable viewers, if they wish, to make a donation to the SAG/AFTRA Foundation Covid-19 relief fund here.

Below are just some of the members of SAG-AFTRA who have been helped by the foundation.

We hope to see you tonight for the birthday celebration and bring your party hats!

Tyra Banks Exiting ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Yesterday, Tyra Banks dropped a bombshell when speaking with a reporter from TMZ, while out for a stroll.

Banks shared that she’s not going to be returning as host of Dancing with the Stars, and has decided to focus on the business and entrepreneurial side of her career, plus producing behind the scenes entertainment projects.

This morning on Friday, Banks confirmed the news to Deadline.

Tyra had joined DTWTS in season 29 when she replaced longtime host, Tom Bergeron. She also became an executive producer of the reality-ballroom dance competition.

Last season, DWTS streamed exclusively on Disney Plus, and was taken off the ABC network.  During the last season, Tyra co-hosted the show with Alfonso Ribeiro, although she still presided over the ballroom competition.

Thus far, there has been no news of the next season of the series, although it’s expected to return.  In addition to Banks, dancer Mark Ballas along with the previously announced departure of dancer Cheryl Burke, leave the show with some shoes to fill.

Check out Tyra’s chat with TMZ below.

‘Rachael Ray’ Daytime Cooking Talk Show to End After 17 Seasons

It’s time to put one less meal together on the stove!  Rachael Ray, who has been the star of her own daytime talk show/cooking series, is calling it quits after 17 years.

Making a decision to end The Rachael Ray Show was not an easy decision for the Daytime Emmy-winner, but she revealed to PEOPLE.com, it was time for her to move on.  The show will finish up its 17th season, then stop production.

Ray shared: “In my more than 20 plus years in television, I have had 17 wonderful seasons working in daytime television with Rachael, however, I’ve made the decision that it’s time for me to move on to the next exciting chapter in my broadcast career.  My passions have evolved from the talk show format production and syndication model to a platform unencumbered by the traditional rules of distribution. I am truly excited to be able to introduce and develop new and upcoming epicurean talent on all platforms. That is why I am looking forward to putting all my energies into my recently announced production arm, Free Food Studios.  Thank you to all of our Rachael daytime show partners, crew, and affiliates, and the wonderful years we all worked together.”

In a statement, Steve LoCascio, president of CBS Media Ventures, expressed: “When Rachael debuted her show 17 years ago, she was a game-changer in the daytime space. She made cooking accessible to the masses, taught viewers simple solutions on how to improve their lives and coaxed great stories out of celebrity guests with her relatable down-to-earth demeanor. We’re proud to have produced such a successful show with Rachael and her team for so many years. We’ll miss Rachael on the air every day, but we’ll always be family.”
