Tuesday's Version of Shortened General Hospital Opening Sequence – Watch the Video!

Courtesy/ABC
Many of you have been posting comments to our item on the new shortened General Hospital opening title sequence that first aired on Monday’s episode. Now today on Tuesday’s episode, a different array of characters and performers appear in the line-up with a different theme. And as we explained, we are hearing there will several new cast configurations seen over the next several days.
The music bed theme we are hearing today sounds exactly like the opening sequence theme from GH’s primetime spinoff GH: Night Shift! We think it’s part of the same music theme.
So how do you like this version’s music and the rotating cast? Let us know after watching the video clip after the jump, if you are thumbs up or thumbs down on this one!

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Walks Away From The Mob After 30 Years; Steve Burton and Maurice Benard Deliver Emotional Moments

Is this the end of an era? It certainly looks like it after Jason (Steve Burton) explained to Sonny (Maurice Benard), why he can no longer work for him, and be his right hand enforcer for his organization on the Monday, August 3 episode of General Hospital.
In story, Jason filled Sonny in on everything that went down before he was taken into custody by the WSB including: his opportunity to kill Cullum, Rocco shooting Cullum on the pier, being carted off to Jakarta, and watching his son, Danny, who now only has one parent (since his mother, Sam McCall died in 2024) suffer the consequences of his actions. Jason made clear to Sonny he must be there for his son now and needs to set a better example for him.
As emotional Jason is trying to get the words out and becomes overwhelmed with sadness, because he is truly caught between his son and the man that changed his life after Jason sustained longstanding brain damage from being injured in the car crash nearly 30 years ago in 1996.

Jason recounts to Sonny what led him to this decision, “The WSB’s taking me in. They throw me shackles and then they force me in the back of a transport. Danny was there. He’s pounding on the door. Tears in his eyes screaming that what they’re doing to me is wrong. They just can’t take me off. I’m sitting there wondering, ‘What the hell have I done to my kid?’ His mom’s dead. I’m going to prison if I’m lucky. Something just breaks inside of me.”
“So, I promised myself, I got to do better,” continued Jason. “I failed my son too many times and I can’t do it again. If I keep working for you, then I’m going to make sure that your security’s my priority and not Danny. It’s not fair to you to keep me on when I can’t do the things I used to. I can’t kill for you again. I got to stop doing what I’m doing so Danny doesn’t follow in my footsteps.”
Next, Sonny lets Jason know Danny had already tried to join the mob in his absence, and that he knew Jason wouldn’t want Danny in this life, just like he would not want his own children. Jason thanks Sonny for handling the situation. He adds, “I just have a few years before Danny’s going to be out on his own. This my last chance to be a true father to him before he doesn’t even need me anymore. I’m out.”

Sonny gives Jason his blessing with tears streaming down his face, and tells Jason they will always be brothers, and they share a hug, before Jason exits.
Applause to Steve Burton who played the scenes beautifully, and Maurice Benard, who reminded us why the longstanding relationship between Jason and Sonny has been one of the all-time best and one of the cornerstones of three decades of GH. Burton should remember these scenes for potential inclusion for his Emmy reel for 2027.
So, what did you think of the scenes where Jason tells Sonny why he is leaving the mob and can’t work for him anymore? Do you think it will stick? In the past, these two have found themselves, often having to face a common enemy back working together and Jason goes right as Sonny’s enforcer? Were you moved by Steve and Maurice’s performances in the scenes? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

WHO CARES.
I like the music, but I would love if they brought back Autumn Breeze or Faces of the Heart..
I like the fact that they are changing the cast pictures up. It’s nice to not see Sonny, Jason, Carly and Sam in the beginning, but I do miss the GH music.
What are they trying to prove or change up with this? Aren’t they suppose to have “all contract” players in the opening? Where is Traci and Edward? Not sure I like this at all!!
I don’t mind the cast rotating. Fine idea. I believe “One Life” did that. But the “music” is bad, and the photos go by too fast.
I agree! Not a fan of the music and photos are way too fast.
Forgot to say they should bring back the Dave Koz music, or have him write something new. that was the best music GH ever had.
Why not spend a fraction of a second on the significant actors they brought back from the past and what about the temporary ones to lure viewers?
Great idea!!!
To be honest when I heard it today, all I thought about was an updated Anther World opening from 2005. I am glad that they have updated it and made it shorter but would rather have all cast included. I also like the fast paced there taking with the show and opening….maybe this might just work!!
i really like the variety but miss the gh theme…………..
Still thumbs down… but it does go by so quickly you can’t really get a feel for the music. Would like the GH music.
don’t like it
we need to know what happen to every one on OLTL and where is robin going. I liked the ne Todd better than this one
I didn’t care for the music on Tuesday, but today’s (Wednesday), I thought sounded different or maybe I didn’t notice?! Ha! Ha!
In any event, SO glad that Jonathan Jackson is still in the opening credits. That speaks volumes!!
It either means he’s coming back(doubtful) or who ever is in charge of the opening credits doesn’t know who is in and who is out, and it doesn’t surprise me, on OLTL they had actors showing in the opening credits long after they were gone. It just makes them look like they don’t pay attention or care or lazy.
SHORT AND SWEET I could care less about the opening and the music, days of our lives have been showing the same hour glass ,its the same one that I watched 40 years ago when I quit watching when they moved days of our lives at the same time one life to life was on, well i choose to stick with one life to live a decision to this day ,I never regretted, less music, more show time .
the first day it took me playing it several times to get used to it but then second third and fourth day have been horrible, basically they show the same actors in different order, and to top it off in two of those sequence they show Jonathan Jackson in the credits, and he’s gone!. Maybe to alot of people it isn’t a big deal, but I believe even small things make a difference, it shows that no one is paying attention and to add further insult, i heard the music director for the show was fired so that FV could bring someone from OLTL, who in my opinion had one of the cheesiest opening. So MR. FV, why did you fire someone who was doing their job righ?
Does anyone know when the Paul Glass background music/song selections will start to air..? Chaning the intro song is one thing, what is making me nervous is changing the background music, since I think RC Cates is so great. Has Paul Glass’s background music already begun to air? The last couple days for Robin have been outstanding.. is this Glass’s work? Or Cates? This is troubling to me, because if what I heard today and yesterday is Cates, then Valentini fired a true master. If it is Glass’s work already, I can breath a sigh of relief.. anyone know..?
As far as intro goes… I wish they would as least have a version of what we know as the GH intro.. but like I said, what’s really troubling me is to change the backgrouond music, since it will def affect the entire mood/feel of the show… anyone know if Glass’s music has been airing..? I can’t seem to find it on Google….
