Two Legends Meet At the Hulu Upfronts: OLTL's Erika Slezak & WWE's Sgt. Slaugther!

All My Children and One Life to Live cast members participated in today’s Hulu Upfronts in New York! The Upfronts focus on Hulu business—including growth metrics, new product innovation and upcoming content—with many of their advertising customers.

One Life to Live’s Erika Slezak (Viki) had her picture taken with some other very special attendees!  The one we love the most is six-time Daytime Emmy winner Slezak, striking a pose with former WWE pro wrestling champion Sgt. Slaughter as pictured here!   Later, Erika met up with actress/producer Eva Longoria outside the Upfronts!

Hulu’s Andy Forssell in his latest blog revealed that AMC and OLTL are the companies latest and most storied and respected TV franchises in their original programming line-up which will soon include new series: “Quick Draw” and “East Los High”.

Those series will be part of the Hulu Exclusive Series that will be premiering as part of Hulu’s Summer Slate 2013, including “The Awesomes,” “Behind the Mask,” “The Wrong Mans,” “Mother Up!,” “Pramface” (season two) “Prisoners of War” (season two), “The Only Way is Essex” (season four), “Braquo” (season two), and “Moone Boy.”

What do you think of Erika and Sgt Slaughter’s pic? Erika and Eva Longoria? Hulu’s upcoming summer programming which includes AMC and OLTL? Let us know!

I am a huge fan of Erika Slezak and I have been a fan of One Life to Live since 1988! Erika looks amazing in both photos! I am excited to see that she is participating in the Hulu Upfronts as well as promoting OLTL on tv programs and in online and magazine interviews. I wish great success to Prospect Park’s online versions of OLTL & AMC!

Hulu is going to replace broadcast TV. I love that OLTL is a piece of this. Really shows a broad range of programming and age groups.

I’m loving Hulu. I’m sure I’ll watch more shows on there now that I’m watching the soaps via Hulu. My daughter has been a Hulu viewer for years and I never gave it much thought until now. So happy to have my shows back!

Andy Kaufman to be Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

The late comedian, Andy Kaufman has been announced as an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

Kaufman, who was best-know as Latka Gravas in the hit sitcom Taxi from 1978-1983, loved pro wrestling and used it in a gimmick quite often in his comedy routine including several times on Saturday Night Live.

Andy eventually declared himself the ‘Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World’, offering money to any woman who could pin him as part of his act.  This led to a feud with fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Jerry “The King” Lawler.

As the ruse continued, Lawler and Kaufman convinced the audience they were bitter enemies. Some of the highlights of their faux feud included: Kaufman claiming that Lawler broke his neck when Lawler performed a piledriver on him, and the two trading insults on Late Night with David Letterman before Lawler slapped Kaufman, knocking Andy out of his chair.

Lynne Margulies, Kaufman’s partner, even received a book deal over the antics. It was called Dear Any Kaufman, I Hate Your Guts.  The contents were from a compilation of hate mail, Andy received from the women he challenged to wrestle on Saturday Night Live.

Sadly, Kaufman died from lung cancer and was never a smoker back in 1984.  He was only 34-years-old.

In an ironic twist to the upcoming ceremony, Lawler recently suffered another stroke back in February of this year, and while he would be the perfect choice to induct Hoffman into the Hall of Fame, it is unclear at this time if he would even be able to.

Kaufman joins Rey Mysterio Jr. and The Great Muta as the class of 2023 thus far.

The Hall of Fame ceremonies that will stream live on Peacock direct from Los Angeles on March 31st, the night before Wrestlemania 39 begins.

Check out two of Andy’s matches – one against a woman from Memphis Wrestling and one from his battles with Jerry Lawler.

So, what do you think about Andy Kaufman being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Julianne Hough Replaces Tyra Banks as New Co-Host of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

After Tyra Banks revealed she was stepping away from Dancing with the Stars, a new co-host needed to be named and it looks like the reality-ballroom dance competition series has found their gal.

Julianne Hough, will rejoin the series, but this time as the new co-host alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.  Hough has previously appeared on the dance series as both a pro dancer and a judge.

With Julianne returning to the ballroom, she will be reunited with her brother, Derek Hough, who will be back at the judges table for the show’s upcoming 32nd season streaming on Disney+.

The new co-host has twice won the mirrorball trophy with celebrity partners, Apolo Ohno and Hélio Castroneves, during Dancing with the Stars fourth and fifth seasons on ABC.

As for Tyra Banks, last week, she told TMZ that she felt that it was time for her to exit DWTS and focus on her business and entrepreneurship, and that she would also be producing more TV but behind the scenes.
