If you didn’t already love Van Hansis, you’re going to love him even this much more!

After the talented actor who won the hearts of millions of soap fans worldwide for his portrayal of Luke Snyder on As the World Turns publicly came out the other day in a quote from his latest interview in The Fight, Van took to his facebook page last evening to thank everyone for their support and love.

Van stated:  “Thank you all for your warm comments and your years of support. It means so much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Hansis as Oakdale’s Luke played the first male gay character on daytime soaps that was a major character connected to a major family, wherein often times previously the gay characters came and went and were not anchored to the story in many ways.  Of course, years later we now have Days of our Lives Will (Guy Wilson) and Sonny (Freddie Smith) carrying the LGBT torch on daytime soaps.

Van will also return for season two of the hit web series, EastSiders which just received an Indie Series Award for Best Ensemble Drama.  EastSiders is currently having its season two KickStarter campaign!

He is a phenomenal actor and a very nice young man. His personal living choices are his and only his personal business.

Van is an excellent actor and how he wants to live his life is his own business. In the future i think his portrayal of Luke will be a groundbreaking moment in soap opera history.

So happy he’s comfortable enough in his own skin. The Luke storyline helped me through my own coming out years! <3

I always loved Van’s portrayal of Luke Snyder. Liked Luke & Noah, and loved Luke & Reid even more – but my heart always belonged to Luke first & foremost.

Van brought the character to life in such a way that my heart laughed, cried, rejoiced, & fumed on his behalf.

I’m not surprised to hear that Van is gay, am pleased to hear that he has come out, and I wish him well in his personal & professional life.

Of course, it’s “his business” how he “wants to live his life”, but show me a straight actor or person who would ever hide their sexuality, hide the person they’re in love with and so on. People who write such a bull**** over and over apparently want gay men to remain invisible. I’m so glad that brilliant actors and strong personalities like Van Hansis aren’t doing them the favor.

As the World Turns Cast To Perform Virtual Reading Of Final Episode

In a once-in-a soap-lifetime event during the Covid-19 pandemic, the cast of As the World Turns will reunite for one night online for a virtual reading of the CBS daytime drama’s final episode that aired back 10 years ago this past September,

This livestream event is for a good cause and is brought to you by former ATWT cast member, Trent Dawson’s (Ex-Henry) theatre group The Katonah Classic Stage.  Dawson is the artistic director there.

Over 26 veteran cast members from ATWT, including Larry Bryggman, Don Hastings, Kathryn Hays, Elizabeth Hubbard, Michael Park and more are set to participate in the reading plus some surprise guests.

The show will be streamed  n The Locher Room YouTube channel, 0n Wednesday night, October 28th at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST, where fans will also  have the opportunity to comment and ask questions of the cast,

The event is asking for a $15 donation to be able to see it and you can click here for more info!

Working with Katonah Classic Stage (KCS), a professional, nonprofit theatre group an hour north from New York City, Dawson is hoping this event will help those in need.  KCS has access to outdoor performance space that can provide a safer, more  socially-distant experience for the artists and the audience. The fundraiser not only  applies to salaries, but to health care as well; without employment most artists are ineligible for health coverage during a time when such insurance is critically important.

So what do you think of getting these beloved stars from ATWT together for a good cause to relive and read the script of the final episode from Oakdale? Comment below.
