So after a week’s worth of conflicting reports, it has been confirmed through an ABC spokesperson to ABC Soaps In Depth that indeed Dr. David Hayward has taken his last breath, and thus Vincent Irizarry has exited the ABC soap. “We are sorry to lose Vincent, but David’s death was storyline-dictated and the payoff of this story will reveal many unexpected twists and plot developments,” says the rep in a statement to the publication.

This news came to light after Irizarry’s recent statement on his website: “Regarding my character’s sudden end and any previously reported news of negotiations between me and ABC, those statements were not authorized and premature,” says the new message. “Unfortunately, there’s really not much more I can say at this time except how truly appreciative I am for all the comments on websites and message boards which have been written in support of my work and my character. There would be no doubt to me whatsoever, if I ever do return to AMC it will be in greater part because of this wonderful outpouring from all of you who love the show and David as much as I do. I am forever grateful to all of you…we’ll miss you, Vincent …and David!”

Sudden demise? Did they kill him off with poisoned pancakes?
The guys been employed in daytime for 25 years. AMC is crazy to let the talented Irizarry go.

Does this mean there is room for a new Dr. in Pine Valley?
May I suggest Dr. Reid Oliver. He and his partner Luke Snyder come fully equipped with a built in fanbase. A very large one.

yeahh that would be great!! 🙂 🙂

David you being killed off was such a crying surprise to me, I would of never thought they would kill you off, All my children has hit a dead end and must come back really strong now that your gone. I love you david and will miss you so. All my children need to kill off Erica kane and Jackson really boring.

This is such a bummer…Vincent was an awesome character as David!!!! Who makes these show/network decisions?????????????? Too many of us are wishing David has schemed his death and will be back!!!!! Come on ABC, give the viewers what they want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if they let david go to give zac more money .then they need new writers .why not get rid of the new guy or tads son jessies daughter she has too big of a yap . put all the money togeather and give it to david . better still give him all ericas money its been great with her gone .but just keep him . or all my children will be the next soap to be dropped

I love Vincent, he is a great Actor but I am glad that David is gone, he just got more and more evil, to the point that i hated him and wanted Him dead.

NO WAY! DAVID IS SUPER IMPORTANT IN ALL MY CHILDREN HE IS LIKE A DRUG,HE’S THE BEST OF THE BEST WITH OUT HIM ,IS SAD!

He and his character were the reasons I watched All My Children. I thought his acting were superb, and great to look at too. He gave the show excitement. I don’t know how you can bring him back, however others have come back from the dead. The show isn’t the same without him.

Vincent, you truly are a great actor, otherwise you could have not made us hate you (David) so much! You will be missed. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Zach is not worth the money. Boring, same suits, same disposition, no comparison to David. Although I do think David could have done a better job on Kendall’s heart scar.

vincent you are an awesome actor – i followed you to y&r & back to amc so i will follow you on your next journey……………

mR vINCENT ,I AM SUCH A aLL MY CHILDREN FAN,I REMEBER WHEN YOUR CHARACTER WAS MARRIED TO eRICA YOU ARE SUCH A JOY TO WATCH PLEASE COME BACK IF NOT PEACE IN JOY IN WHATEVER YOU DO.
FOR THOSE WHO DIDNT LIKE YOUR CHARACTER,IT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW A GREAT ACTOR YOU ARE ,KEEP REACHING FOR THE STARS.
mONICA jOHNSON

I am going to miss you on AMC but I wish the very best for you in the many future projects that I’m convinced you will be working on.

Thanks for the many years of great entertainment, Vincent.

Vincent you will be missed . I will no longer be watching all my children since I found out they let you go. They could have gotten rid of Ryan and Erica I’m sick of the stupid story lines . You made the show , what is it now the good people of Pine Valley . How boring. Best of luck.

The writers at ABC for All My Children are truly moronic—-how do you get rid of such an incredible actor as Vincent . He made the show interesting and his goodguy/badguy portrayal of David Haywood is comparable to none. Vincent – you are an incredible actor and don’t let the idiotic writers at all my children tell you otherwise. You will be sorely missed, but fear not, I’m sure some other soap, with the common sense to see how truly gifted an actor you are, will sign you up in not time. Shame on you All My Children writers— unfortunately you will come to realize too late what a great loss for your show losing Vincent is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to you Vincent…… an eternal David/Vincent fan, Maria C.

i read along on facebook with the role players, we miss ya and want you back on the show. Its not like you to die off the way you did. If its true abc then did a aweful way to kill you off. We have our theories and hope ur back real soon !

I keep hoping that somehow David managed to pull a big hoax off, and that he is alive, well, and just waiting to return to Pine Valley. I believe the show really needs David to add some spice to it…JR can’t be the only bad boy on there. So, somehow someone has to convince the writers they can finda way to bring David back and create even more of those twists and turns they want.

I miss Zach, he is easier on the eyes, but I am and is tired of Kendal putting everyone in front of Zach. She just keep doing the same thing over and over and over. It like watching the same movie again and again with her and Zach’s relationship. So for that I am glad Zach is dead. It Kendal’s fault Zach is dead, she should stop putting people before Zach. So if Zach dying means I do not have to look at Kendal running behind everyone else and their family playing “captain save a boat” in regards to everyone else life, I can live with Zach’s death. Just sad to see him go.

Get rid of Opal and Tad. Nothing interesting that I care to see there, Tad’s hair just kills any romantic episodes he begins, and he looks older than Opal. lol Bring Zach back and give him a better storyline without Kendal. And give us a break with Kendal, she needs a life. Now I have to see her whine, O God no! (sigh) I am glad Zach is dead, so maybe I can stop hearing Kendal whining for one thing after another.

Aw, this was a really nice post. In thought I wish to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and actual effort to make an excellent article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and certainly not seem to get one thing done.

The second installment is said to be written by primetime writer Leo Richardson whose credits include: Star, Katy Keene and more recently the Penn Badgley (ex-Phillip Chancellor IV, The Young and the Restless) starring series, You.

Jamey answered that head on via X and explained, “We turned in our All My Children script months ago. My sole focus as of this past Monday, is Genoa City, Wisconsin! #YR”

As well, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos confirmed they will make brief appearances on-screen; one could assume as Hayley and Mateo Santos.

“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos to the LA Times. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”

‘All My Children’ Revival Updates: Lifetime EVP Speaks on Why Proposed Movies are Great Fit, Mark Consuelos Wants To ‘Give Back’ to Fans

The All My Children revival via movies at Lifetime is still in the works from former series stars and marrieds, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, through their production company, Milojo.

The co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark were featured this week in a Los Angeles Times article which detailed their efforts to bring some of the citizens of Pine Valley back to your screens.

As previously reported, and reaffirmed by the L.A. Times, the All My Children movies will be set in the present day and focus on what beloved characters such as Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Maria Santos Gray (Eva LaRue) are doing now. In addition, Kelly Ripa confirmed that she and Mark Consuelos will also appear on screen briefly most likely appearing in their signature soap roles as Hayley and Mateo Santos.

ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIES BRING NOSTALGIA THAT CAN BE MADE TO FEEL NEW AGAIN

Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime, and Lifetime Movie Network said of the All My Children reboot, “Lifetime is always interested in shows that kind of tap into a powerful nostalgia that can be made fresh for today’s audience. There’s a whole generation of women that have missed these stories and these characters.”

As for working with Kelly and Mark on the Lifetime movie versions of the soap, “They’re exactly the kind of partners you want at a brand,” expressed Bryant. “They’re trusted voices because every day they’re talking to their audience, which, a lot of times, is our audience. They bring a real credibility and have an authentic point of view. You meet Kelly and Mark and kind of what you see is what you get, and I think they bring that same authenticity to their development standards.”

Albert Bianchini, executive producer for Milojo, says he knows All My Children is so wildly popular with the fans of daytime. That was punctuated when seeing it in person, and how the energy was off the charts back in January of 2025 when Kelly participated along with Susan Lucci, former head writer, Lorraine Broderick and casting director, Judy Blye Wilson in a conversation with Andy Cohen at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

“I’ve never seen a crowd like that in my life. People were lined up around the block, recalled the Bianchini.  “Everyone wanted to know, ‘When is (All My Children) coming back? We want more.’  We got to see that in real life and Kelly got to feel it in real life, and it made so much sense. I just know that the minute it gets out in the world, people will want more and more and more. There’s just a love there.”

Kelly Ripa added that they are, “working closely with Bob and Sarah Nixon, who are also serving as producers.” She recalled, “She (Agnes Nixon) was so far ahead of her time. She covered topics that weren’t being covered. It was extraordinary the audiences that the show drew, and she served them real stories that were affecting Americans across the country but weren’t necessarily being represented anywhere.”

“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”

THE CANCELLATION AND STOPS AND STARTS OF ALL MY CHILDREN REBOOTS

All My Children aired on ABC from 1970 to 2011. It got a second chance at life when Prospect Park resurrected the show and brought it to The OnLine Network and Hulu for one season in 2013.

Recently, the series made a return through the estate of Agnes Nixon and is streaming internationally on BEONDTV and through their partnership with PlutoTV Canada with episodes starting in 1995. Fans hope original episodes will some day soon be available in the U.S. as well, but that could prove more difficult since ABC owns the rights to the episodes stateside.

Now 13 years later, while there is no word yet on a definitive production start date to the two movies at Lifetime, all the people involved seemed determined to make it come to life.

So, what do you think of the executive vice-president of Lifetime and LMN being enthusiastic about Kelly and Mark’s All My Children movie revivals? Are you wanting to see this come to fruition? Kelly and Mark seem to have made this a very high priority.  Do you hope that by 2027 we might be able to get this to the finish the line and into production? Weigh-in via the comment section.
