Tonight’s new categories are: Beloved Salem Favorite Female, Favorite Vixen, and Favorite Young Male Star. About these nominations:  Beloved Salem Favorite selections are based on actresses who have been considered part of the DAYS family of characters for many years and decades. And while some may have been off the series for a few years, and returned in recurring or guest-starring capacities, they have a long and enduring association with the show. These are for actresses that have made appearances or have been on the series during the last year through to this anniversary year, not stars who no longer appear on the show. Favorite Vixen selections is for the real femme fatale of Salem. These nominees alter-egos have all cheated on their spouses, beau’s, or whoever, to get what they want at one time or another.  Favorite Young Male Star selections represent the young core of male actors who are the next generation of Salem.  Remember, if you don’t agree with our nominees and suggestions in the categories, you have the option of entering “Other”.  And, if you haven’t vote in the other categories make sure to vote for Favorite Flawed Heroine and Favorite duo by clicking here. Wow. Beloved female who has been on the soap for a long time? Hello? How on earth could you think that Mary Beth Evans, Judy Evans, or Alison Sweeney is more beloved than Deidre Hall, Susan Seaforth Hayes, or Frances Reid?? What are you smoking? I, like many people I’m sure, know what Other stands for, and why it is winning currently with 22% of the votes. Next time you do a poll about a beloved character, do your f***in homework.

Why isn’t Sami Brady in the favourite vixen poll? I find it a bit of a joke that this is supposed to be celebrating 45 years, but they are only looking at the current storylines. Sami Brady was the most twisted little vixen in Salem for oh 15 years!! So my vote goes to Sami Brady, in both cateogories because she is more grey than a heroine!!

She’d definitely have my vote in that poll! But my default, my vote goes to Kate Dimera with Nicole Walker at a close third.

And also what the hell?? Renee Jones (Lexi)…listed on the “Vixen” poll…but there is no Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) and no Louise S. (Vivian) at all listed there??? What is this??? Is this some kind of joke?? Because when Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) is not ACTUALLY listed on the poll for “Favorite Vixen”; when you have to “write her in”…we are seriously being “puNk’ed!!” What is this?? Like for real…are you serious??? I can not believe that Alison Sweeney, “Sami VIXEN-VILLAINESS Brady,” America’s Favorite Soap Villain is not listed anywhere on that “Vixen” poll. Sami Brady fans?? Are you out… Read more »

I totally agree.
Michael Sami Brady is the ultimate vixen of Days, come on you know it, you know Days history Michael !
Even now when they try to whitewash her past she still just shot a man in the head, even more the father of two of her children and since then she lies about it which leads to the death of her current sister’s boyfriend..so in my book (and actually everyone’s book lol) this is not a heroine’s behaviour that..but more a vixen or anti-heroine maybe even a villainess bahaviour..

Oh I like that choice for favourite young male star!! Hmm I might choose this one too.lol To your reply, that is one of the biggest mistakes they are making with this show they are not respecting history and they are continuing to drastically change characters to suit whatever storyline they find themselves in. I personally, like Sami as the Anti-Brady because she had heart and strived to be good but oh she just couldn’t help all those schemes just to satistfy her own insecurities and selfishness. I loved her more like this because she had passion and spunk that… Read more »

Hi Michael,
You mentioned that addition names can be added via the “other” catagory. I have tried to vote and while it says the vote was accepted, the “other” catagory remains listed at 0. Are these votes counted behind the scenes – so to speak?

Oops! I’m one of those that didn’t read the instructions, so I wrote in Deidre Hall. If I had a do-over, I’d probably go with Mary Beth Evans. Carly Manning is currently my favorite heroine on the show, but based on longevity I’d give my vote to Kayla.

Missy Reeves as Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux! I’m so excited to have Missy back with her DAYS family, and I’m looking forward to seeing Jennifer on our Salem screens again. (And hoping for more Deveraux returns, as well!)

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Julie Stands Up to MarDevil; Susan Seaforth Hayes Reminds Us Why She is Soap Royalty

Friday’s episode of Days of our Lives brought with it, let’s just say, not your typical Turkey Day episode in Salem.  It also moved the story along with MarDevil being exposed!

At Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) Thanksgiving, Doug (Bill Hayes) shouts that Marlena (Deidre Hall) is the devil. However, Marlena still insists that Doug is delusional and needs to be locked back up.  It is then that Julie stands by her husband.  Julie is on to Marlena and wonders if she should call “Marlena,” who she truly is at the moment, “Satan”.

Courtesy/NBC

Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle (Martha Madison) also believe something is terribly wrong.  Marlena tells them this is ridiculous, but Belle wants to hear what else Doug has to say.  Then, Shawn handcuffs Marlena to take her down to the station for questioning.  Julie doesn’t believe for one second that handcuffs will restrain the devil, and she was right! MarDevil breaks the cuffs and flings Shawn across the Thanksgiving dinner table complete with food-a-flying, leaving him unconscious.

Now with yellow eyes and lights flickering, MarDevil goes after Doug and Julie, but Julie stops Satan in his tracks professing “Not today, Satan!” Just then, MarDevil grabs a knife and in a counter move, Julie holds out her rosary saying love is the power and that the God of love is stronger than the devil! Julie defiantly tells MarDevil that the truth is out and Satan’s reign of terror is over! But MarDevil turns the tables and sneers, “It will never be over!”

It was in these scenes opposite Deidre Hall, that Susan Seaforth Hayes shined as she has done for decades given the material, as Julie went the toe-to-toe with the devil and Susan made us believe that love can win out over everything, especially the love of Doug and Julie.

In another touching moment in the episode, Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) tells EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) from her hospital bed, how she used herself as a human sacrifice for the devil to keep John alive and to protect her son.  An emotional EJ can’t believe that Susan was willing to die for him. However, Susan explains that a mother always protects their child and she would do it all over again when faced with that decision.  Haiduk and Feurriegel also delivered in these scenes.

With John (Drake Hogestyn) freed by Anna (Leann Hunley) and Tony (Thaao Penghlis), he eventually makes his way into the Horton house to confront MarDevil, but Satan is gone.  Instead, John finds Shawn with Doug and Julie and they inform him that MarDevil had left to fulfill her true purpose.  Just then, Marlena arrives at Ben (Rob Scott Wilson) and Ciara’s (Victoria Konefal). We fade to black.

Now below, check out Susan Seaforth Hayes in a scene from Friday’s episode as Julie fends off the devil.

Then, let us know, what did you think of Susan’s performance? What do you think MarDevil will do next to Ben and Ciara and “their” baby? Did you enjoy the Susan and EJ scenes? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
