WATCH WHAT HAPPENS: DAYS Bill Hayes Makes An Impromptu Appearance On The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon!

Courtesy/NBC

Days of our Lives enduring and 92-year-old star, Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) got the surprise of his life when during a commercial break while attending a taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hayes’ grandson spoke up to Fallon, about that Hayes long-running career at NBC and that he actually appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson three times as a guest.

Bill, who was in the audience with his wife, Susan Seaforth Hayers (Julie, DAYS) and his grandson, was then invited onstage by Fallon! From there, Hayes was mic’d up and talked about his early career from being on Your Show of Shows, to the release of his hit single, “The Ballad of Davy Crockett”.   Sheryl Crow, was the musical guest up next who paid a bit of an homage to Hayes, as you will see.

Watch the moment with Hayes and Fallon after the jump! Let us know what you thought of the Hayes and Fallon exchange in the comment section below.

I cannot possibly love this any more. Bill Hayes is a gem. He’s a love and a kind soul. I’ve had the privilege of talking to him one on one and photographing him for press, loving him as a fan, and just admiring him as an enduring actor and presence on Days of our Lives. He is happy to accept praise and admiration, but he does so with grace and humility. He’s such a professional — look at how he just settled right into that seat with Fallon. He didn’t go on and on, but he said a ton, all of it compelling and on the mark for what Jimmy and this audience would want to hear. He doesn’t hog the spotlight, but he does attract it by just his sheer presence. I adore him, and I adore Susan, and I’m so glad their grandson spoke up, because this was gold. GOLD. The man is 92 going on 54, he’s incredibly spry, and he’s a mensch on top of it all. Thank you, Jimmy Fallon, and thank you Michael Fairman, for the article.

Bill Hayes is becoming a good example of how to promote himself and daytime with his Jimmy Fallon appearance and recent online documentary of his life (free for any of those who haven’t seen it and just the right length.) I would love to see more Classic Daytime stars out there promoting daytime.

The Tonight Show needs to really schedule people like Bill Hayes and other icons of the industry. They helped create television and the industry.

Kristian made her debut as a teenaged Hope Williams in 1983 and quickly rose to popularity and became soap-famous; along with her on-screen romance to Bo Brady then played by Peter Reckell. Together as one of soaps most all-time popular duos and separately, Alfonso has remained one of soap opera’s most notable performers.   There were only two times throughout her time in Salem, that Kristian took breaks from the show; during one of them she starred on CBS’s Falcon Crest.

According to Deadline who broke the news; in a statement to the outlet, Alfonso shared, “I feel blessed and honored to have been invited into people’s homes for over three decades. However, it is now time for me to write my next chapter.”

And it appears its already a wrap for Alfonso, who will not be returning to the series when the show is planned to return to production in the fall and come early September.

REPORT: Days of our Lives Targets September Production Restart

Looks like Salem and Days of our Lives will be back in full-swing come September, if the target date holds true as revealed today by Deadline.

According to their sources, Corday Productions, who produces the long-running NBC daytime drama, sent out an email to cast members on Thursday notifying them of their intent to resume production come September 1st.

However for this article; reps for NBC, Corday and Sony Pictures TV declined to comment.

Days of our Lives has had enough shows banked through early October of this year, so was not pressed to get back into production amidst the coronavirus pandemic as much as CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful (which went back into production a week and half ago), and The Young and the Restless and General Hospital who are targeting a mid-July restart.

All three of the shows, except for DAYS ran out of original episodes to air, back at the end of April of this year.

So, excited to hear that their may be plans ahead come fall for DAYS to come to back and tape new episodes? Comment below.
