Wayne Brady, ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ Host & ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Alum Clarifies Coming Out as ‘Pansexual’
This past Thursday night, celebrities gathered for the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles. The awards honor those in the media who have shown exemplary achievements for fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives.
Wayne Brady who hosted this year’s ceremonies, took to the red carpet before the show began. The Whose Line is it Anyway? star, who also happens to be the host of CBS daytime’s Let’s Make a Deal and a former Daytime Emmy nominee for The Bold and the Beautiful (ex-Dr. Reese Buckingham), spoke on the misconception of being pansexual.
Previously, Brady came out in August of 2023 as pansexual. When speaking with PEOPLE, Wayne understands that the term can be confusing to people, and that, in fact, he had to do some research on it himself.

“I think the biggest misconception … and I even make a joke about it onstage tonight … is that people think that you’re an indecisive bisexual. It’s like, ‘no, no, no, no, no. Let me set you straight.'”
Brady went on to explain the definition that regardless of gender, “that means that I am happily free to fall in love with anybody here. If you’re gay, if you’re straight, if you’re non-binary, trans, I don’t care.” He added, that it’s all about, “the person, which in my mind is the ultimate in acceptance and loving… so I win.”

On-stage addressing the crowd with his opening remarks, Brady shared, “It’s my honor to stand here before you as a newly minted out and proud member of the LGBTQIA family!” Wayne added and joked, “Recently, I came out as publicly as Queer, identifying as Pansexual! I know some of y’all are like ‘I knew it! Give me my five dollars Bitch!'” In a touching moment, Brady expressed, “Until the world sees us all in the same light, we’ll have each other’s backs. Thank you GLAAD for creating this beautifully fierce army of love!”
During the ceremonies, Oprah Winfrey received the Vanguard Award and Niecy Nash was awarded the The Stephen F. Kolsack Award which is given to an openly LGBT member of the entertainment or media community for his or her work toward eliminating homophobia.

Susan said, “It’s definitely like coming home in a way, even though it’s not the same studio. It’s really lovely to see old faces and old faces with new faces. It takes you back mentally. You start remembering what it was like back then, even things like how much your feet would ache at the end of the day from wearing six-inch heels. It was just lovely to be back and see everybody.”

THE 411 ON TIA AND KALISTA
Speaking with TV Insider, about their soapy experience in Fairmont Crest, Tabitha Brown previewed about her host with the most, “Tia is very professional, but she’s a girl’s girl. She is a protector of women and wants to tell their stories in a beautiful way, but she also wants to make sure they’re seen in a very good light.”
However, Burruss previews that Kalista arrives with a score to settle. “She’s spicy,” shared the recording artist. “I always love playing somebody that has come to start trouble. It’s always fun to play a villain of sorts, but Kalista feels like she’s been done wrong and she’s hurt by what she feels has been done to her. So Kalista is stirring up trouble, but she feels justified putting Dani on blast. Kalista is ready for some payback.”
Beyond the Gates is produced by CBS Studios, as part of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Created by head writer Michele Val Jean, executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey.
