What Did You Think Of GH's Anna & Duke's Reunion? – Watch The Key Scenes!

Leave it to one of the best actresses on daytime, Finola Hughes (Anna) to make any storyline plausible!  In riveting scenes on yesterday’s General Hospital, Anna is reunited with her former flame, Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan).

While the explanation from Duke of where he was all these years, and just who the “Duke”  imposter Jonathan Padget (then played by Greg Beecroft) was discussed, it all still begs the question, is this really Duke?  And why is he holding Robin and keeping her away from Anna?

So soapers, did you like the reunion scenes between Anna and Duke? Are you buying the explanation from the writers and from Duke?  Or, do you think there are more twists on a twist coming?  And, what did you think of Anthony Geary returning as Luke at the end of the episode catching “Slim” with Duke?

In case you missed the key scenes, watch it after the jump!

it was great, now bring back somemore from the dead and GH will be what it was once more………..looking good already.

Bring back Alan

yes please I miss him

I say laura spencer and emily quartermaine

So he’s lost the Scottish accent?

Well…..that was fast. Todd’s reveal to his family, then to figure out who he was and what happened to him took months to figure out. Most of Duke’s mystery is out in the open within 2 episodes of his arrival. I don’t know if it’s a good thing (not a lot of unnecessary teasing of the audience back and forth) or a bad thing (a sign of how much FV/RC actually care about Duke/Anna/their amazing history together).

^ And by “how much FV/RC actually care, I mean not very much…obviously lol.

I will always applaud FV/RC since they are TRYING to save ABC lone soap, and I wonder how all the nay sayers will feel if GH goes off the air

TBH, the past 2 clips of Duke’s return have been more GH I’ve watched than in the past 6 months combined. And I do mean that.

I can also honestly tell you how I, a nay sayer AND (previous) 23 year viewer, will feel when GH goes off the air, because it’s a point that will one day become a reality so I have been working on making peace with it. The jobs and history lost will probably still upset me, but my personal enjoyment for the show has not been present for at least 7 years now (Scrubs – Robin & Patrick – not included, I still love them, and a few storylines here and there like the MC crisis), so GH going off the air will make no more an impact or leave no bigger imprint on my life than right now that it’s still airing.

I would be sad “if” t went off the air…. Already lost my favorite soap OLTL . Don’t wan to lose another soap….Gh will survive!!!!!!!!!! Have positive thoughts !!!!!!! And KEEP WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He did lose his accent….I noticed that too……….

that is weird

I whated to learn more of they past

Finola is going to win the Lead Actress Emmy next year. I swear to god, the woman is such a pioneer and a powerhouse. What her character has done for women’s empowerment all over the world I cannot even BEGIN to stress highly enough.

Finola, you are THE greatest there ever was.

Agreed. She is awesome and I love Ian Buchanan.

I have alway’s liked Finola…………………..I liked her part also in “stayin alive” movie
with J. Travolta…….She played a real witch…She was the best dancer (professional) and she knew it……..A real perfectionist at that……She dumps him in this movie…………………Good actress…………….

I loved it especially the flashback scenes from what they used to look like back in the 80’s! As for where he’s been all of this time needs to be explained more because he said that his life was stolen away from him, but it was never revealed how and what happened to him, so hopefully when he and Anna have that “talk” he can explain himself and why he has Robin in which I think she won’t forgive him for making her believe that she was dead all of this time when he had her!

I’m sure Anna won’t forgive Duke…

I don’t like Duke…He doesn’t add up … He’s very sneaky & a shady character..

Love it

i liked seeing the old clips, but i’m not sold on them being back together… i mean gees if someone I cared deeply had died some twenty years back and broke into my house, I’d still think of getting to know them all over again – in other words I’d be leery of them much longer than 5 minutes and rush into their arms. And gees when he finally reveals that he had Robin , i’d think that would seal the deal, that you are not the Duke I loved!

He is weird ….I get an uneasy feeling about him……

Never liked Duke. There’s something snake oil salesman about him. I’d rather see Alan back, but don’t know how they’d do that. There is no one except Monica and tracy. No Q. man. I hope Sean Kanan is not going to be A.J. Let’s make it somewhat real at least.

Why would Duke be so cruel to Anna and Robin?

That’s the question………………Why???????????????? He is being very cruel & mean in having Robin…And he doesn’t care that Anna is still grieving for Robin…. He claims to love Anna…..It’s more like obsession to me…..Not love….What has he up his sleeve?????????????????? Hmmmmmmmmm…………..

I was never a big Duke Lavery fan….he always seemed so cold and aloof compared to Robert & Luke. Not very interested at all….especially because he is acting like he didn’t know about Robin’s “death” and made Anna go through that again telling him. I’m not a fan at all and I don’t trust what he’s saying to Anna!!!

ITA, I was always rooting for Anna and Robert. Duke always lied to her and made Anna Weak. David Haywood was like that.

I like Robert & Luke better than Duke also !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always appreciate seeing new stories enhanced by classic soap clips, but this is the first story of the new regime that I’m not feeling – granted, I didn’t see the original Anna/Duke story so it has no resonance for me.

I was in college back when Duke was on GH and it aired while I was in class.
I don’t remember much about him and Anna.
So it will be interesting.

Finola knocked it out of the park yesterday. So far I like what I’m seeing. Glad they explain right away the whole Jonathan Paget thing. Looking forward to how this storyline unfolds. Bravo Finola and Ian! The has me excited to tune in again!!!

Since I started watching because of OLTL I have absolutely no interest in this Duke character. I watched Anna Devane on AMC and remember Ian Buchanan on AMC and then whoever he played on Days. I actually find him quite creepy. Seems to me if GH wanted more viewers they would not go so far back in the archives for a storyline.

Actually when Duke died, it was the time Y and R took over the the #1 spot and stayed. I feel Duke had his fans out there.

Loved it!!! She is so great and it’s great to see them together again. Not loving that he is involved with keeping Robin locked up. Would rather see a reunion of Robert and Anna… but it was still great! Can’t wait to see what they have going for Anna Luke and Duke. GH is rocking it!

TBH, the return is boring and fizzled when he wasn’t on for a month or so. Sure, it’s a nice change for Anna, but I just don’t get the return of Duke Lavery. Plus, I haven’t been much of an Ian Buchanan fan and he just is not working within the series for me.

I have always loved the Scorpio story but I can’t stomach anything RC and FV have pulled with this. The Luke & Anna stuff was nauseating and sending Robert away on such a idiotic premise was a slap in the face of the fans. Bringing Duke back and ignoring Robert is just too sad. And this is why I can’t bear to watch GH anymore. No trust in the creators of the new soap OLTLatGH. I imagine they’ll bring in Bo Buchanan before Robert. Big fail here.

My only concern was the re-write of History. Jonathan Paget was not working with Julian Jerome. Julian made it look like Paget killed Duke and Olivia’s dying breath told Anna to go to Duke (Jonathan) in Jail. Anna and Paget made plans to run away together. Paget confronted Julian and fought over the gun. Later Julian is found dead and Paget shows up at Anna’s and dies. So How could Paget and Julian be in co-hoots?

It’s like they made Heather with susan during Jason’s birth (But it was actually Heather’s Mom who was there).

Didn’t like the actor on Days and don’t like him on GH. Get rid of him fast!

I so agree!!!

I’m really hating Duke. I wasn’t watching GH back when Duke was on, so I have no history there. (I only know Ian Buchanan from his short stints on AMC and DOOL…neither of which characters I liked.) To have him come back as Duke, knowing that he’s holding Robin hostage, isn’t endearing him to me either. He’s still a scumbag! And creepy looking to boot!! He may have been handsome back in the day, but he has NOT aged well.

It appears looking at this that Ian Buchanan has had an eyelift/he looks like Tony Curtis use to after all his face lifts and trust me in person they look even creepier.

Never cared for Duke much now & all those years ago…How could he say he loves Anna & is holding Robin captive…………..He is sly & sneaky to me…I don’t trust him at all……When Anna finds out that Robin is alive & well . And Duke had her all this time & saw Anna at the place he is keeping her….What a slap in the face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or if Luke doesn’t find out first……………………….

Vincent Irizarry might be coming on Gh as Leo Voss.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do you think about that soap fans????????????????????

I would love to see Vincent and more from AMC!!!!

Where’d you hear this? I’ve heard no such thing. I’d rather AMC alumni come to the series. Their PP contracts I’m sure are up.

Type in Vincent Irizarry General Hospital…Then this comes up :Vincent Irizarry General Hospital Message Boards….I just glanced at it but just read the whole thng it’s just a rumor..Nothing definite….I got carried away & didn’t read it all at first.. Sorry my mistake..Read it for yourself……….

Also ck. Irizarry GH? General Hospital happenings…. A little bit of what it said he may be coming to GH as Leo Voss! Could be who Frank Valentini was hinting at…………….Check this out too…………..It’s not a done deal yet…

Duke was very mysterious on GH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will Sam get her baby back from Heather??? Heather is on the roof of GH… What will she do next?????

Well, it looks like Ian Buchanan had some plastic surgery. Ugh! He now looks like the devil. I have never cared for his acting and don’t know what the writers hope to accomplish. Let Anna be with Luke and let him be the one to find Robin. That is more plausible.

OK…He does look weird!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duke and Anna were great back in the day. We have to give it time for this story to unfold. Yah, it takes a little getting used to, but hey its a soap. I am just happy they are back on together. I personally loved Duke on GH, but hated him especially on Days. Terrible storyline. I would tell the haters to jump on you tube and watch some old GH’s. Duke and Anna have an absolute amazing chemistry.

The writer would do anything to keep from Robert back. Robert and Anna may general hospital in the 80th. Their love far each others were above the greatest love that is.And to put Anna with Robert best friend wasn’t the beast thing to do.Anna you are above that you never did go with any of Robert friends before . Anna what happen to your moral.

Don’t like Anna and Duke, Didn’t like them in the 80th and don;t like them now. Will the soap let the dead stay dead, thank you very much.

Duke does not love anna if he could keep Robin away from her. He is weird and I never liked them together. In real life he is nice and they are like best friends…but on the show they have no chemistry. I like her with Robert and I love Luke with Tracy! Period!
Duke and Joe have been ruined for me because they are heartless and cruel.
Please don’t make John McBain leave the show. How stupid for them to make John leave when Jason is leaving the show. Though I love Jason and Sam together….I think Sam and John are HOT! Please make John stay on the show and be with Sam.
More Maxie and make her be with Spinelli. More Felisha and Mac. So glad that Alexis is with Shawn. So happy Diane is back.
Get rid of that creepy nurse that Patrick dated. She is a phoney No good creepy creep!!! LOL….. I like Sabrina but she is too young for Patrick. Bring Robin Back already!
I could go on and on….LOL

I AMOST agree with all the opinions. I started watching GH in 1978. I quit watching here and there, in collage, jobs, etc. I didn’t watch the vast majority with ANNA AND DUKE. They had a wonderful love, relationship. GOD, OR GODDESS…WHOEVER…THANK YOU FRANK AND RON for turning best soap around with their UNDENIABLE chemistry and love. RC and FV have more than proven themselves! Brilliant?? and FOR REAL!!!!!? sad but true?? Ia n Buchannan has done NOTHING to himself in a negative way, except HAVING HIS EYES LIFTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He DOES kinda look like the devil! Here;s hoping it’s a relatively :new: prwill…um…mellow, or calm down…

Stupid, the new writers are killing GH. I am just sick about it. Who cares for Duke, by the way the plastic surgery have his eye brows so high up that looks like he is always surprised about something.
The soap is done with.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
