What Did You Think of Pete & Colby's Computer Lesson Sex Scene on Today's All My Children?

Today fans on the Internet were reacting to the sex scene on today’s episode of All My Children between Colby Chandler (Brooke Newton) and Pete Corlandt (Rob Scott Wilson).
The set up was that after the twosome hit the sheets, Colby wanted a lesson in computers or as she said to Pete, “teach me about something smart.” But while Pete began his lesson, Colby decided to perform oral sex on Pete, in what could be considered a provocative scene for long time All My Children viewers and soap opera fans in general. But was it really?
For once in soap operas, the man in the scene was shown having an orgasm when usually in a soap opera sex scene we see it from the women’s point of view. Many times the woman is the one the audience at home sees receiving sexual pleasure through a look or a sound.

To me no big deal. Some people are saying that was to much but as you said if it had been Colby on camera & Pete off camera it would have been different. The only thing is on soaps you don’t see women finish. It isn’t any worse than the cursing. It is part of life & we like some real life situations on our soaps. Yeah for AMC. I expect the same type of things on both our soaps on the Net.

I didn’t mind it at all. & why should people make a big deal? No body parts were shown. Like stated usually women are shown having pleasure through intercourse so why should pleasure via a man through oral be SO different?!
Two wrongs don’t make it right..They didn’t have to show any body parts, the expression on his face tells all. I find it in very poor taste..I don’t want to see this on the soaps… I don’t want to see woman or men having pleasure on the soap opera’s quite like in that way…Leave it in the movies…
They writers went overboard on this scene. Makes me think they are desperate for viewers. They might lose viewers . I never in my day thought I would see this

This scene should have never been done. They had some sexy love scenes on AMC but nothing compares to this garbage.

Colby so obviously is the Queen of shallow. Wow, roles like that don’t last long. She must be from the temp talent agency. I’m disappointed that little Petey boy who supposed had such feelings for someone else, caved in so easily. Will be interesting to see if he does it again once he steps back into reality. Also, if AMC writers think this is what is needed to draw loyal viewers…well, I just wonder what Agnes Nixon thought about that scene.
I have watched AMC for 40 years and this did it for me. I am done. I will not watch a show that has this type of sexual content in it. I hate to leave my favorite actors but I just can’t condone this. It is not necessary to have this kind of content to show a sexy scene. There is more to the imagination if just a suggestion is given. So sorry, I really wanted to support this show but I just can’t watch a show that has this vulgarity in it. Too much for me.

Not everyone needs to find their entertainment watching someone have an orgasm. It was too much and sopas in spite of the sexy scenes have kept viewers engaged with storytelling and plots not with throwing in a gratuitous sex scene like this. I’m 28 and watch CNN and the real horror news every day. I enjoy gritty drama and crime shows, so saying that someone is not with the real world because they don’t want to see a scene that is way TMI and does not advance plot beyond showing Colby to be a complete idiot and Pete a person with no resolve is a valid compllaint. I have been a cheerleader for these soaps and even the foul language, though unnecessary, doesn’t bother me. This was uncomforatable to watch for me and for my mom (who is an active soap viewer and not turned away easily)

By the way…i live in the real world and i tune to soaps to escape the real world problems. And so when i need the real world ill shut of my tv and computer to live in it…soaps were invented for escapism…they werent meant to be real…characters are shot dead in front of us and come back to life…John and Mary divorce and remary sometimes to each other dozens of times…so there is nothing real about them! But if they are going to push the envelope this far to try to be more real then sometimes they need to show that its not always perfect…show these characters worrying more about aids, stds and unwanted pregnancy…if online soaps want realism depicted then show it all!!!

Actually I have been watching AMC since I was 21 and that was way way back in 1971. Yep, I am 62 and NOT easily shocked. Not at my age!! I have been one of the most of loyal of fans you will EVER on this planet come across. When I saw this scene, I actually laughed OUT LOUD!! The cast and crew must have been laughing so dam hard taping it, I am surprised they even got through it with a straight face!!! Was it too much.. that is a matter of who is watching it. BUT hey, me personally, I refuse to sweat it period. There IS SO MUCH MORE in this world to be upset about believe you me. Of course this will not turn me off of AMC. It is a minor incident in the scheme of life
Kandy I so agree with you. This is going to far. I realize you can get away with more on the internet than television, but leave it to the imagination. I did not see yesterday’s show, but I know I will definitely not be tuning in. Maybe I am old fashion but bring back the old AMC for me too! I am done. I agree Kandy…some stuff i dont mind but i do feel its better to leave some things to the imagination…like in GWTW when Rhett carries Scarlett up those stairs…we used our imagination and it made it more enjoyable. I feel sorry for todays generation…they have to have it right there in front of them. Todays generation cant use their imagination…they dont have the brains for it!
GWTW was 74 years ago and the big controversy at the time was a character saying “damn” on screen. Hopefully, humanity has matured somewhat since then.
Bottom line when I watched this I said just now: Where’s Meg Ryan in the movie when Harry met Sally! Best scene ever in the diner with Billy Crystal. Just keep telling yourself and it is the truth this is not your Mothers soap opera anymore. What are they running a kiddie porn set over there.
I agree with her. There is no need to go so graphic, just because you can. It’s losing viewers that will stop them. It is great to see a little more edge to the show, a LITTLE more…
I think AMC lowered the bar tremendously today with a scene in poor taste. Don’t think they’ll be nominated for any awards for this one.

No complaints here; I was surprised but not dissapointed!
It was quite hot and it didn’t bother me. I remember on the ABC version when Krystal was trying to get the lab tech to change the paternity results for Babe, we saw the lab guy zip up his fly and Krystal wipe off her lips, insinuating the exact same thing. I also remember reading in Soap Opera Digest about Kayla diving under the bathtub bubbles to please Patch while the camera zoomed in on his face on DAYS, so it’s not like this wasn’t done on network TV!

So… it was cleverly written… I did not need to see it. I love my imagination and I like it when I am able to combine my imagination with the written word and verbal and digital imagery and any other aspects to come together and present a … (fill in the blank)!
I am disappointed. I hoped that Pete was smart enough to see through Colby’s true agenda. I don’t like Colby at all. Pete and Celia a very cute together.

Wow! Online soaps are very grown up now! I miss scenes where Tara is getting advice from her Nana! Network soaps sex scenes have been pretty hot and some with the men seem to show some reaction thats good enough for me! These scenes dont really bother me but do they really need to go that far to prove a point just because its online? Actually Mary Hartman which was syndicated back in the 1970s was ahead of the game with some of the sex stuff in early episodes so this online stuff isnt exactly knew. But i feel with the reboots the racy stuff is all about creating something contriversal to attract attention instead of good storytelling. My feelings are mixed here…im ok and not ok with it because i know some like it and others dont. Itll get viewers to tune in but without good engaging storylines to go with it some will tune out. What im saying is these soaps attracted millions with characters and stories viewers cared about for decades and it didnt have to go this far to do it. ill have my critics but i dont care…i dont feel soaps should be g rated…but at the same time it doesnt have to go HBO as well.

There is a reason they don’t usually show the men’s side of the story– they don’t know how to fake it- women have years of practice so any actress can make a sex scene look realistic- IMO this just looked silly. Good for them for trying something different, but sometimes the tried and true works for a reason.

Fast forwarded. Not necessary. I liked Colby and Pete but fear I will never be able to forget that scene. I wish someone would warn me about scenes like this so I know to fast forward sooner. I only watch to support the vets. I just don’t know how much longer I can continue to do this. I feel like PP is creating trash because it can and this is creating a low quality show. It is all about getting the advertising dollars for a young audience. There is so much porn available…why would this scene bring in young viewers? I think viewers of all ages would prefer to have good story lines and less explicit sex scenes. If I wanted to watch soft porn, I would watch soft porn shows. I want to see “stories”. All the men Erica had in and out of bed were stories for most of AMC’s yearsa on ABC. I remember lots of racey scenes. Why is it more acceptable for a soap to show a woman’s face during the act being pleasured and not a man’s….that seems to be the issue her.
If Pete disappeared and we watched Colby fake the orgasm, it would still be an issue for me. I would rather have my imagination working from when they enter the bedroom to the laying in bed with the after glow. If people want to get off by watching these kind of scenes, they should google porn. There is plenty of porn to be scene, I am sure they can find something they would like.

I agree with most people here, it was way too graphic for a soap opera. Prospect Park pushed the envelope too far on this one. I’ll just stick with OLTL, it’s edgy, but no where near as edgy as AMC. I’ll be surprised if Susan Lucci returns. WOW!!

Exactly, it was way to graphic for a soap opera. Hell, I haven’t seen that type of scenes in too many R rated movies, or cable primetime shows. It was a long scene too and I was blown away. I knew they wanted the shows to be edgier, bolder, and sexier, but still need to maintain the integrity and sophistication of the shows that have been on the air for over 40 years. Glad there are others here who agree with my perspective.
jim, I think it was a waste of storytime minutes, but it wasn’t that bad. Erica did the same thing with Phil Brent waaaaaaaaaay back. Now THAT I remember – first time I’d ever seen anything like that on television. And frankly what Colby and Pete did was tame by comparision to most.
Again, I could have done without it, with a show that’s only 19 minutes long to begin with, for me it was precious time wasted.
But how can you judge something you haven’t seen? How can you diss something you won’t watch?

Frankly I’m unable to understand how anything that has been on either OLTL or AMC is so bad to make someone tune out.
The shows were NEVER frozen in amber – and frankly, if that’s what you and some viewers want, shows that only reflect your censored memories, than it might be best not to watch.
And it would definitely be better to NOT COMMENT ON WHAT YOU HAVEN’T EVEN SEEN.
As for the friends you discouraged from watching, all I can say is that it mustn’t take much to keep some folks from even checking it out.
I just don‘t understand why this kind of thing is necessary. It doesn‘t advance the plot, it is embarrassing to watch…I can only imagine how the actors felt having to perform it. It just makes me laugh that show biz producers ACTUALLY think that this kind of thing is a) provocative b) titillating c) what the audience wants d) quality entertainment. I‘m more concerned that the character of Colby has been made so vapid and strange. Colby and Pete were once a couple with a lot of rooting value and historical importance on the show.

I have seen porn. There is soft porn and there is hard core porn. If we would have seen body parts, it would be porn. That scene is just a step away from what I would call porn. I didn’t like the scene and when will we start seeing body parts. So far we have been subjected to cursing because they can and not really needed which makes the scenes awkward. Now we we are getting these long drawn out sex scenes that are not necessary. Our soaps use to be classy. That scene was ridiculous. I hope people stop watching because that is the only way to get PP to stop this filth. Did they really think the viewers were going to like it? No way, I am sure it is being twittered about which PP is loving!
It was TMI for me. I am not a prude, but I don’t see throwing sex in there when the plot purpose was neglient and it was graitutious. I see it as a writing copout versus edgy. Have some plot development – use it to get a story going. Yes I know sex is in the soaps, but for the first time I felt uncomfortable watching this and I know my mom did too and she is not some old school person who cannot handle change. It was just unnecessary. It made Colby look like a slut and Pete a man with no self-control inspite of being a savvy businessman. I think was shock and awe with no plot point.

I have no problem with scenes like this airing. It was well-publicized that this version of the shows would be racier than the previous ones. Plus, it totally goes with an older, sexier Pete. As for Colby, this version of her is really annoying, especially since when we last saw her, she had grown up considerably and was being a responsible young adult. Why the regression. But, back to the sex. At her age, this is exactly how she’d be acting, so it is an accurate portrayal of two hot for each other young 20-somethings.
I agree with you. I also have issues with people talking about the swearing on the show. I am sorry, but they now talk like real people and real teen agers. I am not saying all adults swear, but most people say an occasional “Hell” or “Damn” versus “Heck” and “Darn”. As for the teens on the show, most of the teens I know swear and I don’t think they are over the top with their swearing. It’s sounds more like real life.
Personally it was alright with me but my grandkids watch with me sometimes and when it gets that personal, maybe a warning would be nice! It was way too much for kids.

Actually, soaps are not just for adults. How do you think soaps got to be as legendary as they are? Most of the time, it is through family tradition, watching it with your grandkids or kids when they hit preteens, usually. AMC should not be some uncensored garbage just because it is on the internet, it should uphold the same standards it did on television, otherwise it is no longer All My Children, it is just internet trash.
I didnt feel it was necessary. Generational thing because my adult children loved it. They grew up watching amc and they enjoy the online version.I prefer the traditional amc but I understand to get younger viewers to watch this is what has to be done.

I cannot believe people actually ENJOYED watching these scenes. First off, this is not Gossip Girl, All My Children is supposed to be a legendary soap opera, known for pursuing the controversial topics with class and intelligence. Viewers should not be subjected to watching an oral sex scene, especially one that is so absurd- this “actor” and his reactions were ridiculous. I just do not understand the reasoning behind this trash.
Again – did you stop watching AMC when Erica gave Phil Brent a blow job back in early days of the show. Cuz she did, and the only difference between what we saw with Pete and Colby is that Phil didn’t say ANYTHING. Erica moved down his body until her head disappeared from the screen, and then did his eyes light up!

Loved it! AMC is firing on all cylinders (though I want more Dixie).
My problem is they are going too far to get viewers and all the viewers want is good acting and good storyline for their favorite actors. I ff’d this scene, because I don’t need to see that. If amc wants to get younger viewers this isn’t going to do it, they aren’t necessarily attracted to this. While going for the younger audience with this stuff PP is making it so that most adults turn it off for one reason or another. Give us romance (a nice hot love scene is ok), good story and you will get the viewers. Keep up with the gimmicks and the fans will give up. Remember fans didn’t start watching soaps by turning channels they started watching with their moms, grandmothers, friends moms and so on. I can’t believe anyone thinks this is appropriate for when you started watching soaps? I know I started at 12. Well I know I wouldn’t let my kid watch this show and hope most parents wouldn’t. So with what they showed I wonder what pp hoped to gain? It sure isn’t the young viewers. Edgy is one thing, going too far is another. This type of product serves no purpose. No amount of gimmicks will cover up for poor acting and POOR storytelling. It’s sad that AMC felt it needed to resort to this stuff.
AMC does have good acting and storylines. It was a sex scene so they made it sexy. I’m happy they’re not playing it safe. People don’t give soaps a chance because they think they’re too old fashined. Stop being such a prude.

Why did they need to take it farther than that? It didn’t do a thing for the storyline. They did it because they wanted to be edgy. Well I’m sorry sex scenes like this doesn’t make a good show, good writing and acting does. No amount of explicit sex is going to make me watch but a damn well written story will along with good acting. So as much as you liked it, it serves no purpose and just makes a lot of the fan base uncomfortable and stop watching. AND THAT IS WHAT THIS SHOW DOESN’T NEED!!
I agree with you – they had to throw in a sexy scene because the Writing is so unbelievably poor and weak – guess that they had to do something. It’s a real TURN OFF to those of us who loved the show for years and years….and years. I also agree that LESS is more – we get the point, we are not fools, we understand that Colby is hot on the trail for Petey, we’re not idiots.
You know, I was really elated at the thought that ALL MY CHILDREN would return. I don’t know what the heck this is, I’ve watched every episode, and brother, this show needs WORK. That is not to say that through the years, I was enthralled by every single storyline, of course not.
If they want to improve ALL MY CHILDREN – and trust me there is plenty of room for improvement – work on the writing and not cheap, unsavory antics.

I take it that you watch the soaps at breakfast time like I do, I waited till after Petey was done before I ate my banana, my eyes to busy watching what was going on to eat. LOL
I liked the sex scene, it was great..
I can see some have never watched cable tv, it is full of much more graphic sex then a blow job face lol ..
Some people never came out of 50’s and should stick to ‘Leave it to Beaver lol ..
Being the soaps are on the internet I love that they are taking a wee-bit of leeway and giving us some adult content (still much less than cable) since I am an adult living in the 21st century, I think it is wonderful to see realistic soaps!
It was pretty hot…however you couldn’t tell if the actor was in pain or pleasure!

I thought it was the funniest thing on TV, and I did not see anything wrong with it. It was not like you can actually see what she was doing to him. It is all in the imagination.

and the 30 second hot scene is just that a 30 seconds WOW, that I for one enjoyed, as you did..
AMC is a #1 soap, they are doing something right..
and it has intriguing stories..
It has a balanced mixture of the old and the new..
I love having the vets back, all of them, and the stories they are in are very good..
I like watching the new generation characters grow and I like their stories…
I keep seeing these comments about “not the AMC I remember” but as far as I can remember back to about 1980 (when I was old enough to remember and imitate TV), it’s been pretty saucy with some pretty explicit scenes. I think the author hit the nail on the head that it is just a different perspective, watching the man vs the woman being put under the microscope. I’ve seen FAR steamier love scenes over the years on AMC. Selective memories here, apparently!
When these soaps were on abc everyone was grateful to have their soaps…no one said it needed cussing or more graphic sex scenes…it was all about the story…it was all we needed to be entertained…but now its online sex and cursing some fans feel is all these show needs 4 improvement? Without well written storylines and character connections to engage a majority of viewers those fans and those who object to the racier content will eventually stop watching…is that what you want…some cussing and bedroom scenes are fine but because its online these reboots go overboard with it instead of concentrating on improved storylines…sooner or later…never mind…just stay tune while you can.
All My Children was a disaster during the last 10 years on ABC. It no more resembled the show at its best than a duck resembles a swan. The character of the show had been jettisoned, families decimated, veteran characters destroyed or written off, our of character behavior by the few ones remaining – the show was pretty horrible.
Liza’s pool table sex, Stuart’s murder, Tad’s “son”, Dixie’s death by pancakes, the horrid, show-destroying Careys and Laverys and Greenlee, all eating the show alive – and this is what you thought was GOOD?
Did you even watch AMC at all since the late 90’s? Right now the reboot has the heart and soul of the show that Agnes created – probably because she’s back and consulting again, after having been booted off AMC when Frons took it over.
I have absolutely no idea what show you were watching but this ABC show you seem to think was so good was NOT AMC during its last 10 years.

I only watched the last ten years on occasion…yes it was bad…the late 70s to late 80s the show was at its best…the reboot is slightly better than amcs last two years…adding cuss words and a little more love scenes doesnt make a show better…im not totally against it…im just saying its not as addictive or interesting to me when i started to watch over 30 years ago…that still could change but its not there for me at the moment…i have nothing against you or any fan who do like it at the moment…maybe in the future ill feel the same way too. Right now i like Days and GH and maybe you dont…that dont bother me…we all have different taste but if i dont like or i do like something ill explain why…and if you do the same whether i agree with you or not i might reply but ill respect your comments and thats what id like in return someone responds to mine…we do have something in common…we love soaps and want to see them around for many years to come.
Yes, I agree 100%. Way too graphic for a soap opera. I don’t like how they’ve trashed these shows on the internet. I know they want to push the boundaries, but they haven’t done a great job of telling the stories. It’s much shorter and it’s only broadcast twice per week. I’m sorry, but if this continues, these shows will be cancelled. I wish they were back on abc.

51st Daytime Emmys: Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa Receive Talk Show Host Nominations
On Thursday, nominations were announced in the Outstanding Talk Show category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) coming off his first-year as co-host of ‘Live” with real-life wife, Kelly Ripa scored his first Talk Show Host nomination along with Ripa who has been nominated previous times.
Joining Mark and Kelly in the race are: Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, The View

As previously reported, The Talk is coming to its end when its upcoming 15th and final season ends in December of 2024.
The 51st annual Daytime Emmys are slated to be broadcast and stream live on CBS and Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa
Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).
Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.
Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode. It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”
Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it. I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

Susan Lucci Joins the Cast of Jonah Hill’s Movie ‘Outcome’
Look who will be part of the ensemble cast in motion picture and film star Jonah Hill’s new film project! That’s right, none other than Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, All My Children).
According to Deadline, the daytime television icon joins other notables including Laverne Cox and David Spade who have been added to the cast of Outcome. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer (ex-Ben, Guiding Light) and Cameron Diaz.
In Outcome, which is written by, and will be directed by Hill, the dark comedy centers around Reef (played by Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.

Soap fans know that following her iconic run as All My Children’s Erica Kane, Susan went on to be featured in Lifetime’s Devious Maids in the role of Genevieve Delatour. Since her Pine Valley days ended (when AMC was canceled in 2012), Susan has appeared in numerous shows and made numerous appearances. n December of 2023, Lucci was awarded the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Outcome will debut on Apple and is an Apple Studios production. The film marks the latest collaboration for Hill and Apple Original Films, who are also developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, to be directed by Scorsese, with Hill starring in it and as one of the producers of the project, as well.
