Who’s Coming to Your Favorite Soaps – Week of August 19
The week of August 19-23 brings with it some highly-anticipated returns and familiar faces on your favorite soap operas. Top of the list is Rick Hearst, who makes his first appearance as Ric Lansing on General Hospital in over 8 years on the ABC daytime drama series.
Back on July 25th, viewers learned Hearst was back playing Molly’s (Kristen Vaganos) father, and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) half-brother, much to the delight of fans of the 61-year old show.
With Ric being a lawyer, and all the issues centering around Kristina (Kate Mansi) crashing through a window and losing the baby she was carrying meant for Molly and TJ (Tajh Bellow), it will be interesting to see how Ric is anchored into the story. Heart’s first run as Ric was from 2002-2009. His second run in Port Charles was from 2014-2016.

In addition on GH, ‘The Deception’ crew visit Home & Heart, and will deal with none other than Debbie Matenopoulos who plays the Home & Heart producer. Matenopoulos was the former co-host, along with GH’s Cameron Mathison, of Hallmark Channel’s talk show, Home and Family.
Parry Shen is also making a return to GH as Brad Cooper. Shen was last seen on the show back in March of 2023.

Over on The Young and the Restless, Linden Ashby is back haunting, taunting or commiserating with Sharon (Sharon Case) as uber-villain Cameron Kirsten on the Friday, August 23rd episode of the CBS daytime drama. Look for Linden to keep popping up as Sharon’s mental stability continues to be out of whack.
Lily Brooks O’Briant (Lucy) is also on-screen in two episodes on the Tuesday August 20th and Wednesday August 21st episode as the troubled teen shares some scenes with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott).

In addition, longtime beloved Y&R fan favorite, Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) is back on-screen. Tina Huang will be seen as Melinda Trask on Days of our Lives on the Monday, August 19th episode in scenes with serial killer, Connie played by Julie Dove. Over at The Bold and the Beautiful, Naomi Matsuda is back on as Li, who is at the epicenter of the murders of Tom and Hollis.
So, who are you most looking forward to coming on to your favorite soaps this week? Comment below.
I can’t say Im looking forward to Ric’s return, but I am excited to see Jonathan Jackson return and cant wait to see him reprise the role of Lucky. I’m also happy to see they plan to bring Lulu back.
Love to see actual men not pretty boy models making a come back
What’s new? We’ve been seeing Lucy and the bloody Cameron for weeks , FF for me , yuk, he may be in Sharon’s mind , but hes right in the viewer’s face, and its disgusting! Speaking of disgusting, I guess a lot of fans love Parry Shen, but I’ve seen enough of him forever.

WHO JOINS DAVIDSON AND RINNA IN THE CASTS?
Rinna leads cast one along in the role of Chris, Phaedra Parks plays Claire, Stacey Rusch will take on Cookie, and Dolores Catania will play Cassie from January 9 through February 28.
They will be followed by the cast led by Davidson as Claire, Cynthia Bailey as Chris, Carole Radziwill as Cookie, and Candiace Dillard-Bassett as Cassie from March 2 through April 21. The production will mark the New York stage debut for all except Lisa Rinna, who made her debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago in 2007.
In story, the Neil Simon play which originally bowed on Broadway in 1988, focused on four couples gathering for a party in a wealthy New York Suburb, where instead of fun “they find their host in an alarming state, his wife missing, and the police on their way.
The original production featured the likes of: Christine Baranski, Jessica Walter and Joyce Van Patten, with Baranski winning a Tony Award for her performance as Chris.
In a statement, Zhalion Levingston expressed, “What excites me about reimagining Rumors through the lens of ‘The Real Housewives’ is how naturally these two worlds collide. Without changing a single word of Simon’s brilliant text, we can reveal something new in the piece: The delicious chaos that unfolds when private lives become public spectacle. At a time when we are so deeply divided, I can think of few things more necessary than gathering in a theater to laugh together.”
So, what do you think about Eileen Davidson and Lisa Rinna each taking on the role of Chris, originally played by Christine Baranski, in Neil Simon’s Rumors coming to Off-Broadway early next year? Do you like the concept of the two ‘Real Housewives’ casts playing the roles? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section.
