Will GH Guest Star and ESPN ‘First Take’s’ Stephen A. Smith Appear at ‘Wrestlemania 39’ as a Heel Manager?

General Hospital fans know that Brick, played by ESPN First Take’s Stephen A. Smith is not above doing the dirty work of mobster, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).  But now the question is, will Stephen be able to pull some skullduggery as a bad guy ‘heel’ manager in the WWE at Wrestlemania 39 in Los Angeles this coming April?

During an interview on with WWE and pro wrestling legend, Ric Flair, Smith clearly entertained the idea, and from the conversation it looks like Triple H may even be behind a push to get Stephen A. to make an appearance as a guest manager for one of the WWE superstars.

Flair was a guest on ‘First Take’ promoting his upcoming documentary on Peacock, W0000 Becoming Ric Flair which drops on December 26th.

Smith shared his mandate to Flair for just how he would want to be positioned to be a manager at Wrestlemania: “Listen, man  … Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, Paul Heyman, and these guys… I would love to be a bad guy manager… I want to be one of those bad guys.  I don’t want to be a goody-two-shoes guy, I want to be the troublemaker bad manager. I think I could pull it off, Ric Flair! If they want me to be a bad guy manager, here’s the problem … no one can touch me! Nobody can touch me, I’m gonna have that as part of my contract. I’m too frail, and can’t let them touch me. I have a life to look forward to … Ain’t nobody bodyslamming me!”

Watch the exchange between Ric and Stephen A. below.

I only know and love him as Brick. How funny was that when nosy Niba thought he was entertaining Carly in his room. How stupid that Sonny even questioned it. When will he learn that Nina doesn’t know what’s real or not, dumb woman!

Not a dumb woman, but, Nina does catch the cat by the tail sometime.

Marcus Coloma On His GH Exit: “I Don’t Know Why That Decision Was Made, But I Don’t Feel Any ill Will and I Didn’t Feel I Got Fired”

This week, GH fans saw Adam Huss returning to the ABC soap opera as Nikolas Cassadine to finish out the rest of the scenes originally intended to be played by Marcus Coloma who ended his three-year run on the show a tad early.

As has been previously reported, Coloma came down with Covid-19 as his final tape days neared, and a decision was made for him to not return to finish off his last run of episodes.

With all the rumors and stances taken by everyone involved, Coloma was the special guest on this week’s episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast hosted by Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson and discussed his departure from the long-running daytime drama series.

Marcus expressed that when he took the role on GH, he was excited to be in that kind of environment (working on a soap opera), and only signed on for three years.  However, as time went by it became more difficult to reconcile leaving when his contract was up, sharing: “You fall in love with the crew and everybody along with it. So, two and a half years in, this decision that was so clear in the beginning is getting complicated.”

The actor added that while, “I knew the end was coming, it wasn’t like GH was saying, ‘Hey, Marcus, we want you to stay.’  There was no negotiation … and all I can say to that is I don’t know why that decision was made, but I don’t feel any ill will and I didn’t feel like I got fired. It just felt like … there was maybe an understanding that I was going to be there for three years. The big surprise is how much it hurt. Even though I knew I was going to leave.”

In the end, Coloma reflected that this may have concluded as it should, adding, “I really do have some big goals and those goals would have never been realized if I would have stayed. That’s not to take anything away from GH because I admire everything about it.”

Watch the episode of That’s Awesome featuring Coloma below.

According to Soaps.com. Huss aired today on the January 31st episode of the ABC daytime drama series and will finish out the scenes that were written to be portrayed by Coloma.

Adam previously subbed for Coloma back in September 2021 and again in November 2022.

After it was announced that Coloma was leaving GH, the network and the series agreed that it would be best that Marcus did come in to tape his last episodes since he was recovering from Covid-19 at the time.  Thus, we are seeing those episodes featuring Huss now airing in early February.

So, glad to see Adam back to wrap Nikolas’ current storyline? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

General Hospital Alum Annie Wersching Dead at 45

In very sad news on Sunday, actress Annie Wersching, who starred in the series 24, Bosch and Timeless, and portrayed Amelia Joffe on General Hospital, passed away this morning from cancer.  Annie was only 45-years-0ld.

Deadline broke the news of Annie’s death.  In a statement, Wersching’s husband, actor Stephen Full, shared: “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall. As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’ ”

Wersching’s first major role came as Amelia Joffe on General Hospital.  She played the role from May to September of 2007.  Amelia came to Port Charles to seek revenge on Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and wound up lovers with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Later, she went on to star as Renee Walker in Seasons 7 and 8 of 24.  She also appeared in The Vampire Diaries, Runaways, Extant, and The Rookie.  One of her last roles was in Star Trek: Picard which came two decades after she made her screen acting debut in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.
