ABC News is rushing to determine just what its upcoming Good Morning America spinoff — GMA In the Afternoon — will look like.  Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott, who regularly appear on GMA doing the hard news and celebrity news segments, and have secondary roles alongside, GMA co-anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos are considered the frontrunners to host the Summer series, that replaces The Revolution, which was canned this past week.   As previously announced, the GMA afternoon edition will air at 2 p.m. in the Eastern time zone and at 1 p.m. in most other areas of the country.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “One other possible difference between the regular morning GMA and GMA In The Afternoon: is that the afternoon edition might call upon ABC News personnel who are not regulars on GMA.  That is especially likely to be true if there is major breaking news and the network does extra programming or goes live during the afternoon period.   it was leaders at the ABC Television Network who came to ABC News and then to GMA with the idea of doing the afternoon version for about nine weeks.”

THR also indicated that ABC morning show’s producers were happy to accommodate the idea as a way to extend their franchise.   “This is a great opportunity to give more exposure to the show and attract new viewers,” said the ABC spokesperson.

So, who do you think should host the GMA summer replacement series until GH gets the timeslot and Katie Couric’s new talker debuts? Let us know!

Sounds like a good show to replace The Chew with!!!!!

oh boy, i smell a rat in hear , ABC is hard to trust these days, so i don’t know what to think of this, but we’ll see.

In NY, we have local news in the 4pm slot that Oprah vacated. So to me that is way too much news: News at 12, game show 12:30. Chew at 1pm, GMA 2pm, GH 3pm, then news from 4-7pm? The NYC tri-state area will be changing the channel. The one good thing about GH moving to the 2pm slot is hopefully it will get pre-empted less often; it seems the 3-4 EST is the prime time for news conferences. 🙂

Yoy forgot that Dr. Oz is on at 4:00pm in oprah’s old timeslot…………I don’t think that is being cancelled yet…………………

Dr Oz airs on FOX in NY, not ABC.

I live in Fl. and Dr. r. Oz isn’t on the fox channel…Dr. Oz comes on after gh at 4:00pm On ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It should be the same in NY…..We are both eastern standard time… I have watched Dr. Oz on ABC NOT the fox channel….I’m not lying….When GH is over Dr. Oz comes on next On ABC…………I Know I watcg it every so often..I have seen it on ABC when GH is over…You have this mixed up with something else…You are wrong on this one….

Well in fl. Dr. Oz is on at 4:00pm on Abc.. The news comes on at 5:00pm after Dr. Oz is over……………………….This is the truth………………..

Sorry but it IS different in different markets. From today’s tv guide on the Comcast (my cable provider) website:

The Dr. Oz Show
“The 3 Silent Killers of Women: Why You Must Know…”
4:00-5:00p | Ch 5 WNYW
TVPG
(Airdate April 16, 2012) Dr. Oz discusses the often unnoticed symptoms of potentially fatal diseases; nutritionist Heidi Skolnik presents healthy cereal options.

Proof enough? I wish I could post a screencap here. Geez people, I know what comes on my DVR at the end of GH everyday!

how about this: https://www.doctoroz.com/ On the right you will see “where to watch this episode” click on “not your station” and it will list all the markets, when and where his show airs. it is on all 4 major networks at different times. Just cause something is one way where you live, please do not insult me by saying I do not know what I am saying.

I see in Gainsville Florida it airs on NBC, not even ABC. Even within your own state it is not consistent.

I wanted to say I’m sorry about my comments the other day…This is for KATHY C…………….I have Bright house cable in Fl. Comcast has their channels situated diffrently…My friend in Jersey had comcast cable..Didn’t mean to insullt you…..I’m sorry I didn’t mean it…..They have Optimum cable in Jersey & Dr. Oz is on ABC on their cable….Again I am sorry….Let’s start over….Do you like watching GH and when it was on OLTL…OLTL was my favorite soap…How about you??????? SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t watcg Dr. Oz much . He makes me nervous…Too much info for me…….Stuff I really don’t want to hear…It upsets me & I dwell on it…Don’t like thoseb kind of shows..

He knows everything.. Etc… That gets old quick……….Not something I would watch Mon.-Fri……I like the soaps over him anyday………….

Susan m ,I live in florida and ellen is on at 4 on abc.Dr oz is on in the morning, and no I dont watch any of that stuff ,so I wonder what they will do with katie c.and I dont under stand why I still have soap net.all I know is that the daytime should be for the soaps forget all these mindless stupid life styles ,news, cooking and dopy talk shows ,I cant watch that stuff, its boring.Abc didnt solve anything with general hospital 1 year is nothing they dont care there just buying time to shut us up and Im not going to ,If abc/disney cared they would have renewed for 3 to 5 years I dont trust abc the boycott for me continues.

Are You there?????????????

Online for the first time today. It’s not actually the cable companies that decide what airs on which network; maybe Michael can elaborate on that for you.

Never watched Dr. Oz – no interest in talk shows at all.

I have been watching GH since 1978; my fav soap of them all. Years ago when I was a stay-at-home mom I was able to watch AMC & OLTL; but once my kids were grown and I rejoined the work force I cut out AMC and “taped” OLTL & GH. Time to watch made me cut it to GH only, but did tune into OLTL every now and then. I am thrilled to have the OLTL crew on GH; if it brings viewers over, saves the last remaining soap, and gets rid of the useless characters added in the recent past, I am all for it. What ever saves my show. 🙂

Hello Kathy C have you read my latest comments.. Please read each one…

Starting with comment on 4/17 at9:54am……….

Hi Kathy C. I don’t like info/reality/cooking shows on daytime programming…Will not watch this GMA …Another show that will talk you to death………….I use to watch OLTL for a very long time.. I started watching all the soaps with my mom..And have been hooked ever since…OLTL was my number one soap..To me it had the most heart & the hold show they were like a family..Very close knit..Especially Viki……..I have the cast picture of OLTL…Look at it everyday…I watch GH everyday & If I have to go somewhere I record it…Enjoy seeing some of the actors from OLTL..

I Agree with Barbara t on 4/18 at2:26pm… I am only going to watch GH….I am not watching these mindless shows either…………………..They really screwed up daytime programming BIG TIME………….The fight goes on…Don’t watch this crap…Just like we soap fans didn’t watch The Revolution & it got cancelled.. The same goes for these other shows like Katie couric,GMA , ETC….Don’t watch them and the ratings will flop with these shows also..

Call me pessimistic but I think that GMA in the Afternoon and the fifth hour of Today will be the replacements of GH and Days in 2013. Those news shows probably cost even less to produce than talk shows.

I fear you are right.

I probably won’t watch GMA either..I don’t ever watch this at all………..

From my comment on 4/18 at 5:59am..Correction:To me OLTLhad the most heart &the whole show was like a family….(kathy C)

I don’t trust ABC as far as I could throw their rat asses. Typically if it sounds to good to be true, it is. They have seen first hand what a group of pissed off soap fans can accomplish (Revolution). If they are playing games again we will have no choice but to sink “Katie” and any other nonsense they shove down our throats. We are the viewers and together we have the power to make or break whatever they do. Hope for their sake they have an above board agenda planned.

Loved this, ” They have seen first hand what a group of pissed off soaps fans can accomplish (Revolution)”. Great Writing. I’m glad that was the name of their show. That name has worked for our agenda in the end. LOL
Good Writing, Thank You.

Katie Couric, Etc.. These kind of shows don’t belong especially on daytime programming…Put them on primetime….Or at 2: 00 inthe morning… No one will be up to watch this crap…………..

Just bring back One Life To Live, please.

I don’t care who hosts GMA In the Afternoon because I will NOT watch it. I want GMA and The Chew to fail. I want OLTL back. OLTL never should have been canceled–and we all know it–the failure of The Revolution proves it. And don’t tell me to get over it and move on. If you want to move on fine, but please respect the hopes and dreams of others. Thank you.

if this show does good in ratings kiss GH goodbye next year

Here’s one soap fan who will not be watching!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t even think that…Just don’t watch it and it will be cancelled like the revolution…Boycott GMA ..Like we soap fans did for The Revolution….It will be gone in less than 3 months….

ABC just won’t listen. (to loyal soap fans) .. unfortunately another attempt that will fail. bring back OLTL.

I agree…….

Didn’t you hear? Oltl is back, on GH! You can catch your faves like starr,Todd, mcbain and soon tea interacting with a much cooler crowd in port Charles ny .

As far as GMA in the afternoon…who cares. I don’t even watch it in the morning anymore since ABC axed my afternoon soaps. I only watch GH, and even their commercials if thats what it takes. I’ve said it before, I don’t trust ABC. One year renewal is just enough to celebrate GH’s 50th.

Who should host GMA in the afternoon? NOT Lara and Josh!! Can’t stand them in the morning will not watch in afternoon. Love George and Robin.

Doesn’t matter. Soap fans should boycott it. If it does well it could very well end up replacing GH NEXT year. Do NOT Watch!

I see just another show to boycott. Enough with the talk shows already! We want a diversion not more phoney BS!

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Published

By

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy  for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
