The Young and the Restless has confirmed via Soap Opera Digest that they have cast actress Nadine Nicole to the CBS soap opera in the recurring role of Gwen.

According to the character description:  Gwen is a conservative accountant at Jabot who becomes a different person after hours.

So what could this mean?  Accountant by day, hooker by night?  A split personality? Look for Nadine to make her Genoa City debut on December 3rd.

The actress has previously appeared on CSI: Las Vegas and CSI: New York, The Protector, 90210 and The Bold & The Beautiful.

So what do you think is the purpose of bringing Gwen on to the canvas?  Who will she share screen time with? Share your thoughts below!

I love hookers on soaps!

aaaahaa..
now Laurens hooker nurse costume will not go to waste..
a bonus would be a prop poll, and she dances eh .. 😉

They can hook you to the show…lol

Jim, that was funny too. It almost reminds me of when Lucy Co from General Hospital was a frumpy, plain buttoned up librarian by day, and a vamped up, risque teddy and stocking wearer by night.
This could be fun.

Nothing against the actress, but when they requested for a Latina or Asian actress without an accent….the actress that got the role would be biracial. Y&R seems to be afraid to cast an actor or actress in a sizeable role that aren’t directly half white.

I totally agree, SoapQueen!! They’re too afraid to catch up to 2014…..

Mark, that made me roar with ribald laughter. Thank you.

What a great way to start of the week: ANOTHER new character to steal airtime from the established characters in search of story (Kevin, Noah, Jill, Lily, Cane, Paul, Abby, Tyler, Mariah).

Sounds like the character of Jane/Roxanne from SANTA BARBARA (which Charles Pratt also wrote for).

lol
”’ the purpose of bringing Gwen on to the canvas?”
imo- is they are struggling and trying every angle they can think of to create curiosity in an attempt to survive from its horribly boring over a year long boring 2 stories, that still have no end in sight aaahaaa..
and– to take attention away from their failed 2 stories and bad casting/billy… lol ..

ohhh geez.. long live Y&R !!

Yes, you are so right about the 2 storylines dragging on forever. We are all waiting for them to replace Billy. This actor is just not working at all. Will someone please listen.

Burgess Jenkins is perfectly fine as Billy Abbott. I like him from the first moment 🙂

I’m glad that you do, however there is an overwhelming viewpoint that believes he is just not working in this role. We will have to see if he gets any better. So far he’s just not a good fit for this role in addition to not having any romantic appeal with Victoria or Adams wife. It’s just not working. Also he looks to old to be Jill’s son. Just cast him in another role. Too bad we lost Billy to GH.

Gwen will be in scenes with Dullian…he mistakes Avery and Joe are secretly seeing each other behind his back so in good old fashion soapy way, Dullian gets mad and sleeps with hooker Gwen…as soon as Dullian learns Avery and Joe arent sleeping together, Gwen tells Dullian she is preggers with his child…Dullian and Avery are unaware Joe is has hired Gwen to break up Dullian and Avery…Gwen is later revealed to be Victors long lost son…Victor and Niki are going to be grandparents again: Victors new found daughter is pregnant by Nikis own long lost but found son Dullian…lol

Correction: Victors long lost daughter but if Gwen was his son turned daughter that might be an interesting twist…lol

Actually, me thinks Gwen might be a witness who really killed Dee…Maureen…and could prove Adam is innocent but is afraid to come forward in fear her ‘Night Job’ will be exposed(pun…lol)…and it’ll cost her her job at Jabot???

She becomes a Dexter type vigilante, no?

I wonder if she is related to the original Gwen on Y&R from around 1975.
She was the hooker turned nun who was involved with Greg Foster.

I remember she befriended Jill, back when Brenda Dickson played the part.

I think Gwen tried to entice Jill into the business. (sex worker–not a religious vocation!)

Anyone else recall the original Gwen?

Gwen Sherman. I just don’t think that gimmicky storylines…no matter how good they look on paper..should ever be done. This is the beginning of a rude awakening for fans of this show and CBS/SONY who want the show tanked but will still cringe at the hatchet job and fan backlash to follow. This is no longer the Bell soap we grew up with from day one and have been loyal to for years. There’s a storm on the horizon and it ain’t CGI effects…

This actress was on Beverly Hills 90210. Somehow, I am smelling the impending arrival of Brian Fronz.

Damn, another newbie??? With Amy returning, Adam, Joe and now we have Gwen and Sage?? Charles Pratt might be cleaning house!!!!!

This is old news…now there’s another newbie!

Nooooooooo!
Jeez, stop the madness with new characters.
What the heck are they trying to do to our soap??

This is the way Charles Pratt works. He brings in new characters and gives old characters new personalities!

Sounds interesting and hopefully it will be a little humorous.

You see this on every soap. You get a new Executive or head writer and they want to create their own characters to write for. I dont care as long as Gwen is interesting. You need more people at Jabot and Newman working there and mingling with established characters. Its healthy. You look at GH, the have ELQ and they have no employees there on screen. Michael and Ned are Q’s and Tracy is always trying to get back into the company but no one works at this huge business? Embrace the newness. Not every character on Y&R started from day one!

True enough. The majority has 5 or more years as the same characters. The faces stay the same much longer than most soaps. Yes a story line can cost a show a viewer. Stopped watcing a long time soap. Luke and laura. How awfull you just dont fall in love with your RAPEST.Hope yr can hang on.

STOP WITH THE NEW CHARACTERS. Use your vets and those we love. Write good story!

Bring back Drucilla for Neil. They have allowed other actors to leave ,do their thing and return. She’s a great actress and could bring some excitement to the show. Get over the reason why you haven’t brought her back and do so.

At one point, I wanted them to bring back Dru, but it wouldn’t work with current story. Maybe after the bomb drops about Hilary and Devon. Also, I think Victoria Rowell ruffled feathers and may not be the best to have onboard if a nice work environment is what they want. Not sure what her former castmates think, but I think more is to be considered than just story.

No idea about this new chick.. As long as she’s worth it and linked to a vet characters’ storyline..
Sometimes new characters can be refreshing but lately on y&r, I don’t know……
Who is this lady treating or NOT’ treating Adam?? Her with that syringe, where IS he?

oh-oh, I can see her involved with the new husband of Summer!

Too many new faces (Far too many new faces, Gwen, Tobias .. etc. … Many of the topics was-started and abandoned. Some, like alcoholism Nikki or paternity tests, go on far too long. Many role is completely superfluous, as Colin and wooden playing box. Screenwriters apparently do not have new ideas to continue the show, so the scenarios repeat every few years, such as with Victoria’s … who is the fathers of her baby. When she was Brad Carlton’s wife and she did not know who is the father of her baby, Brad or JT and now is the same, Vicky’s dilemma Billy, or Ben / Stitch is the father. Boring, boring, boring

what happened to Leslie Michaelson?

The author of this article and comments below are incorrect. This woman has been on Y&R for the better part of 2014 and this year in 2015 as Gwen, who was a frequent date of Devon, while Devon was secretly having an affair with Neil’s wife, Hillary. Currently, she is having a romance with Neil because Devon and Hillary are now together and have said such to Neil.

So, get it right people. She’s not a hooker.

General Hospital’s Adam J. Harrington Weighs-in On John and Carly, and How it’s ‘Starting to Get Very Complicated”

On recent episodes of General Hospital, Carly (Laura Wright) came to John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) rescue as he was beaten down in an assault. Carly put on her “nurses cap,” sort of speak, and got John to his hotel room and watched over to him, to make sure he didn’t lose consciousness.

GH fans also got their first glimpse of what may be a new romance for Carly, if she and John continue to bond.  If John and Carly were to have a relationship, it would certainly have a ripple effect with Jason (Steve Burton) and Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Adam J. Harrington shared his view on the scenes and what might be next between the two. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Harrington shared, “I thought it was written in a way where there’s an understanding and a respect between them both. I don’t think there was any moment where she was not aware that he’s an FBI agent, and there was no moment that he wasn’t aware of her history and relationship to other people in the town. I really liked it. I was really looking forward to shooting it with Laura and we had a really nice time shooting it.”

Photo: ABC

When Carly and John part ways, it seems there were some romantic sparks, as Harrington puts it, “Isn’t that interesting that sometimes with people, the one moment they actually show how they feel is when they know there’s an escape hatch. They know they’re about to walk away. So, it’s almost safe in that moment to do it. I thought that was really special about how (the writers) handled John and Carly. Even the music in that scene was beautifully done.”

Where is this all heading? Conflict! Internally and professionally, and as Adam explains, “Who Carly was to John on paper as just a tool to be used as bait is starting to get very complicated.”

What would you think of a John and Carly pairing? Would you prefer him with Anna, or neither of them? Let us know via the comment section and take our poll below.
