Y&R Draws Huge Audience For Last Episodes Of Billy Miller and Michael Muhney With Highest Household Rating In Six Years!

Courtesy/MuhneyTwitterFanPop
It looks like everyone was tuning-in to the Billy and Adam final showdown as played by departed series star, Billy Miller (Ex-Billy) and Michael Muhney (Ex-Adam)!
According to Soap Opera Digest, “The conclusion of the Billy/Adam story last week drew Y&R’s largest household ratings since January 2008, hitting a 4.0 Nielsen rating for the first time in six years!”  That is fantastic numbers for the number one soap, who through all the backstage drama and changes has continued to have very strong ratings over the past few months.
As viewers saw, the gun Billy had been holding on Adam, as they were driving went off … as the car swerved! When the dust settled, there was no Adam, but Billy returned banged-up in the form of Daytime Emmy winner and his original portrayer, David Tom. The story continues to be told.
What do you think of the high ratings for the big showdown?

Days Of Our Lives
Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.
TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME
While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.
Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.
Share your congratulations to Deidre Hall for this incredible 50-year milestone as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives in the comment section. Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.
General Hospital
Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric

With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..
In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”
GENERAL HOSPITAL PREVIEW
So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!
FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD
As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”
Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.
So, are you excited to see what Maurice is talking about? Are you hyped for what’s to come on GH? Any clue on what you think will go down between the main characters on the soap with the returns of Anna Devane and Jason Morgan to the mix? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

they won’t have them any more most people only watched to see adam and billy last scenes on the show that’s what I did will not be watching young and the restless any more I have watch this show from the beginning
Agreed. I too have watched Y&R from the beginning, no longer watching after the lasted departure of two more veteran actors forced to leave. They are part of a team whose acting brought Y&R to a #1 spot. However with the WORST of the WORST, JFP and disgusting storyline writers in the history of the soap opera, there is no interest in the show anymore. It is completely a waste of time. Hope all the remaining veteran actresses and actors are preparing for retirement or working toward a better place of employment as Y&R may have been granted a 3 year spot on CBS, we all know that can and will change. In the words of Mrs. “C”, “Goodnight”. Hope the BELL FAMILY begins a New Soap Opera with all our beloved veterans of the show. If not, Y&R cast, please know we love you and appreciate having shared this time with you. Until now, you brought entertainment of real life subjects into our homes for these many years.
I watched Michael and Billy until the very end. And then I quit. I fast forwarded through any scenes they were not in. Now I’m done. Not interested in these lame stories and the mediocre cast. Peter Bergman is the last decent actor on the show.
I hope that you all realize that David Tom, who is playing Billy Abbott now, is the same David Tom that Bill Bell himself hired to play a teenaged Billy Abbott in 1999 and stayed through 2002. He won an Emmy for his portrayal of Billy at that time. Also, if you were watching this week, you’d see that he’s doing a pretty good job of playing Billy nearly the same as Billy Miller had been.
When it comes to Michael Muhney, however, it seems there may have been a casting call for his part when Y&R put out that notice for Andrew Abbott and Josh Williams, who were supposed to be an Abbott cousin and Paul’s nephew (guess by his brother Steve since neither Patty nor Father Todd have kids).
According to the soap mags this week, while Andrew actually turned out to be a cover for the character of Billy Abbott (which David Tom got), seems the show was also looking for another Adam Newman by using the name of Josh Williams as a cover.
BTW … Since that supposedly had been done in October/November, there’s no way this whole “Muhney groped King” could be true … the show had been planning to get rid of both of them for some time.
Interesting, and I can’t help but think there may be some truth to this.
This is so interesting because I tuned back in after leaving as a viewer in 2010 to see Billy confront Delia’s killer. I was a huge Chloe and Billy fan and loved Liz Hendrickson and Billy Miller together. Those two had me hooked on The Young and The Restless from 2008 until 2010 when I stopped watching. The only episodes I truly wanted to see were the episodes surrounding Delia’s death and the episode where Billy exits.
I am certain the numbers also had a lot to do with Michael Muhney’s exit although I haven’t really seen him in the role, I have heard and do know that he is very well loved by many Y&R fans as Adam. He has huge fan support and I am certain many were tuning in to see his final moments as well.
However, you look at this, it still adds up to a huge loss for The Young and The Restless!
exactly Kendra , there will never be another Adam, and i really don’t like the original Billy (Thom) but loved Billy Boy Miller he was awesome at Billy this new old Billy doesn’t hold a candle to Miller
If they recast Adam if i was him i would sue them! Wrongful dismissal
And so many will not be watching anymore. sad sad sad
It’s no surprise fans of both actors tuned in to show support. Now we’ve turned off our remotes or have moved up and down channels skipping over Y&R. Let’s see the ratings fall-I will enjoy it. Free MM & BM!
I tuned in to watch…and i stayed!!!
We all know Adam isnt dead…somehow a third person got trapped in that car! Adam returns months later…possibly played by Brandon Barash, ex GH!!!
Would that be the Best Or What!!! Yessssss!!!!
to me theres only 1 Adam and thats Michael Muhney
Colin knows the music box secret…its connected to millions! Jill will dump Colin after he makes a fool out of her but then Colin realizes he geniunely loves Jill!! Meanwhile, Neil marries Leslie, then fans learn Dru is alive!!! kidding, lol
they have nothing to lose… by bringing back Victoria Rowell….
she returns… ala Joan Collins… Dynasty money bags…. cashola prize…. Ms. Drucilla Genoa City….
I wish the premise… she returns… Devon “hires” her to conglomerate his 2 billion dollars…. she gets stars in her eyes…. he mysteriously… has a setback… and loses his hearing… again…and Ms. Dynasty spins out of control… and reigns supreme thereafter…. even Neil wants her
Still watching but not happy about the changes.
“I will not watch”
what does it feel like?
or watching it now?
I imagine Y&R to be
devoid- empty – lacks – still – barren – blah – uninteresting – dull – unimpressive
I hope the ratings after Michael Muhney and Billy Miller reflect as such
principled
I thought that I would miss it. I don’t
@ Mema…. and Fans of: Serials and Y&R
it really has become easy to not even give Y&R a second thought…. literally… too much has happened… in 1 year…. 2013.. there’s no denying this
anyway: I am a staunch supporter of the remaining 4… on the air Serial
I am just so incensed… that TPTB… disregard the fans: period
I would like TPTB to acknowledge somewhat… all the carelessness and haphazard… decisions… on the behind the scenes.
and No… I don’t expect that fan voice… is demanding… just to be given a little courtesy…
a stand… and vice versa
if this is my first boycott… then so it is
Great news! The show is outstanding, the writing is superb . The show is simply the best. Those episodes were DRAMA at it finest. Other soaps could learn from Y&R.
Learn what from Y & R? How to tear down strong women characters and make them look weak. Bring in other actors who are the EP’s pet peeves and force them down the viewers throats. Divide the cast each other to see who can win the EP’s favor by not getting fired for some made up trash that the fans will never ever believe. Mable it is to do the unthinkable, and get rid of the two main lead actors who are pulling all the weight of the show, because of stupid story lines that not one is interesting in seeing while ruined a actor’s career and reputation, just to justified bringing in your pet peeve that should have stay on the show where he is most loved by the fans, not the EP.
wow what Y&R are you watching?? the one we are talking about sucks the big one they fire the best actor they had and which he was still under contract!!! and wouldn’t let Billy Miller have a few days off to do other fill ins on evening shows so hes gone.
Who cares about Neils wedding and Lilly needs some acting lessons and child care lessons those two children are rude and can’t act either the show just sucks
BRING BACK MM AND BM!!!!!
Do you work for JFP? If you like this nonsense then you would love GH. I watched for nearly 40 years and it’s the worst it has ever been. There isn’t even a shadow of what the show used to be. JFP has turned Y&R into the Jason Morgan show.
Dylan is a relatively small character on this show. I have been watching for 30 years and I think it is fantastic spot right now. The core characters carry the show as they should!
This last story was done extraordinary well, hence the massive viewership.
My opinion is Y&R is excellent!
Well said Toscanti this woman is the destoryer of soaps but the sad thing is no stops her i stopped watching GH for 8 years because of her the show was so dark and depressing.Plus the lighting was allways dark i could barely see the actors and sets
Dylan is actually a major character on the show, and has been for a year since JFP did all that ballyhoo and trumpeting heralding his coming onto the show in 2012 for Jan. of 2013. It’s BECOME “The Dylan Hour” ever since, and now that he’s Nikki’s son, he’ll NEVER leave the canvas.
Not only that, but he’ll continue to be a major character for at least 1-3 years definitely, as Steve Burton re-signed on the show (no info on the contract this time … yet) under the radar.
Guess JFP had him do that because she didn’t want all those Muhney and Miller fans ticked off yet again. Bet Burton got HIS outs in that contract …
That’s what’s really ingeresting wolfsmistress…The fact that TPTB fall all over themselves to accommodate Burton, but they wouldn’t do that for Miller. Obviously JFP wanted him outta there so she could bring who SHE wanted. Same with Muhney…
this is a great loss to all the fans of this show. we will miss you 2 very much & wish you the best of luck with whatever you’ll be doing from now on. whowever, I will contin. to watch this show, but with a great sadness ,it will take a long time before your fans get used to a new Billy or Adam….
….
Lets see how goes from here! Everybody wanted it to see one last time ,two of the best actor in the show, you two will be terrible miss !
Congrats Y&R!
Y&R will do good without Muhney nor Miller!
Doubt it. I already don’t like David Tom and Amelia Heinle together, he looks way too young for her. I somewhat like what they are doing with the Adam character now that MM was fired; it leaves the door open for the character’s return in the future. But man I really miss Billy Miller already and it’s only been a few days! I like David Tom as an actor but not as Billy, I wish they re-hired him but gave him a different role, like “Josh Williams,” which was what the original casting call said. The character of Billy isn’t the same and neither is his relationship with Victoria
Keep telling yourself that.
Fans say they were going to stop watching after Michelle Stafford left and look Y&R is doing fine without her!
Been hearing rumors that Michelle may go to GH as a coma patient. Wouldn’t that be a slap in the face to Y&R fans? But great for GH ones….
I thought MS said that she would NOT join another soap!?
Not surprising to see that Miller and Muhney delivered the numbers as they exited Y&R. It is a testament to their craft as actors and popularity with the audience that brought the viewers. I really think the show and everybody involved mishandled the whole situation. Everyone makes their own decisions, but I have no plans to ever watch this show again. The sight of some of these cast members sicken me. The show is ruined for this viewer.
ITA,certain actors and actress have completely turn me off from the show. At work we no longer rearrange our lunch schedule to watch this show in the staff lounge.I’m very curious to see what the rating will be.
Y&R’ – STAR – has fallen: so carelessly
Y&R reigned supreme… because of the great production.. that the BELL family, instituted care
Michael Muhney and Billy Miller are a big factor in the testament they delivered and elevated the ailing Genoa City
I just don’t foresee Y&R being any better after these two STARS
January 31, 2014 – 5 days later…it’s that much easier…. knowing… what’s left behind – I don’t miss Y&R
The ratings do not surprise me at all. It also wont surprise me when they start to plummet over the coming weeks. The show in the state it is now is nothing without Muhney & Miller.
yes of course your ratings went up before MM & BM left . Now a lot of people has turn off their television to Y&R …Many Canadian like me stop watching all together as we know what’s next ..Billy will be a Dad and poor Victoria will be the one suffering so I rather not watch at all unless you find a way to bring back Michael as I’m following him where ever he goes ..It’s sad after so many years of loving this soap been watching since 1974 when I was pregnant for my boy and he;s going on 40 .Good luck and thank you for so many years of enjoyment now it’s all over ..Eva !!
I turned it off–really I did. But I confess to turning it back on a few minutes this week to check out the charismatic, charming and wonderful Tristan Rogers and to see how David Tom is doing. The latter is doing a really job job tackling this challenging role. Really, his taking the baton from Billy Miller was seamless.
So, yes, now I’m done but I do wish I could watch Tristan Rogers.
I meant to put the adjective “good” in front of job. Job job doesn’t make much sense now–does it?
I love Tristan as Colin– just his being on screen has made the extremely boring Cane more interesting– and his rapport with Jess (Jill) is fantastic. His arrival in GC came at the best time. As for David Tom, I honestly like his performances to date– would I rather see Billy Miller, yes, but for a recast there could have done worse. Back in 99 I tried boycotting NBC because they cancelled Another World, which meant giving up Days– but I too would sneak a peak every once in a while, until eventually I caved and began watching Days and other NBC shows— it is harder than you think giving up a soap totally, even if has gotten bad, but good luck.
@Harry
@MarySF
darned it all…. I totally agree… that eventually down the road…
“sneak a peak” is inevitable
let’s be fair… and just wish… the ratings were a true reflection… and TPTB know this
#1 DAYS
#2 GH
#3 B&B
#4 Y&R
I certainly hope that the rumors surrounding MM’s exit aren’t true, however, I can barely stand to look at the other individual who’s still on the show.
These posters who say they’re not watching any more? They’re hilarious and they’re liars.
I don’t watch. I stick to web series, and Days/GH. heck reruns of Felecity are better than Y&R!
You don’t watch? Yet Felicity is better? Uh…ok.
FANS:
Stand aligned: turn off Genoa City
Fan Testament…. there must come a time… when we are acknowledged
Thanks. That may be the funniest comment I’ve read all day lol. Fan Testament? You’re joking, right?
@Rick
another flare-up
a burgeoning righteous indignation directed at TPTB
right
Well, we might be hilarious but we are NOT liars. I admitted to sneaking a peek or two this week. I’m done now. It’s not the same without Michael Muhney and I do not see how a re cast can possibly work.
The show is surviving just fine. In fact, it’s been really good this week. Maybe you should sneak another peek.
LOL
soapbox and back to the trenches
this is hilarious and admittedly viable
Well I’ve been watching this saop since 1980…. love the story line of Adam and Billy, although I am disappointed that Y&R let Micheal go, he was a brilliant actor…. he so played his role very well… I will miss him the most… what ever comes your way Micheal all the best….
I
watched to see Michael do his great work ,I MISS HIM TERRIBLY ,I WANT ADAM TO GET JUSTICE .BUT I CAN BARELY LOOK AT THE OTHERS ,SO UNLESS IT HAS TO DO WITH ADAM ,I FF THEM. EXCEPT SHARON.THERE ONLY ONE ACTOR WHO HAS MM’S TALENT WHO CAN PLAY ADAM ,THAT IS TREVOR ST JOHN ,ANYONE ELSE WOULD BE A INSULT TO MM.MM DESERVED HUBRIS HE CARRIED IN HIS BACK PACK,!
Adam was remarkable and so wass Billy. I hope the show remain exciting. We lost our Mrs, C and now Two others are gone I hope only for a moment. No one can replace Billy or Adam.Watching Jack today trying to talk to new Billy at the hospital seem to have a little problem doing that.
Michael Muhney is an incredible actor. Billy Miller’s work was celebrated. They delivered this audience to Y&R despite horrible writing for a vile storyline. To think they are both gone reflects on the show’s producer. She wanted them gone. Good luck pushing your Orange Man down the viewers’ throats. He’s no substitute for either of the two great actors. Bye-bye Jill.
let it be known….
Hollywood!
Michael Muhney and Billy Miller ARE :
power – superlative – forever – heralded – intrinsic – present – loaded – effervescent
I Love the days of ole: Jeanne Cooper, Michelle Stafford, Eileen Davidson, Billy Miller, and “Michael Muhney”
Period
Those are five of the best actors that every graced Y&R right there, the show has experienced so much loss in 2013 with JC’s death, MS and BM leaving on their own accord, and ED and MM being fired. Five great actors, five great characters… now they’re all gone. Eileen is back at DAYS for a story arc and David Tom has taken over Billy… the show isn’t the same
Thank the soap gods for Eileen Davidson’s return to Days of our Lives!!! We love Kristen and hope to see Susan!!! Sister Mary and Tommy would be fun too!!!
Everyone should treat themselves to the magic that is Eileen Davidson and Days of our Lives!
I’m not surprised at these numbers, it’s the week after that, that I’m worried about.
Too many uninteresting “newbies” and boring, dragging storylines. We’ll have to wait and see…
The sexiest MEN
YES
Adam and Billy
Fantastic numbers.
And yes, as you can already read above, there will be the MM fans who will claim when the viewers drop, that is was them…however, that doesn’t explain the RISE in the numbers over the weeks.
So congrats YR and cast to a job well done. And even if/when the numbers drop off a little for WHATEVER reason, the show is climbing back to a creative high.
I’m sure most will stay tuned for now.
Not all of Muhney’s fans dropped the show.
I didn’t, even though I don’t LIKE certain players on there now, certain EPs and such.
I’ve been loyal to it, come stars and go, since the Fosters, Brooks and Prentisses were on there, so I can’t quit now. I’ll probably go to my grave wondering what tomorrow will bring (doggone it).
But believe me, two more talented actors than Miller and Muhney have never been on that show at the same time like this, and their leaving and being fired (respectively) is a massive loss to the show.
I wish them both the best, wherever they go and whatever they do, and I will watch their new work as well.
And if viewership drops, it’s for some other reason than Muhney/Miller fans “quit watching.”
Look how many people claim to have stopped watching when Drucilla (Victoria Rowell) left and swore they’d never watch again. If I actually quit watching every time I didn’t like someone or something that happened on the show, I’d have whiplash from flipping back and forth…
The writing has been so poor that the only thing drawing us in was Michael Muhney’s acting which managed to transcend the writing. The same is true of Miller as of late but I do think he is replaceable with David Tom doing such a good job. My inclination to stop watching is motivated my selfish desire to just watch good stories played by good actors. Now Muhney is gone, that inclination is gone. I adore Tristan Rogers but if they don’t write better storylines for him this time around he won’t be enough to motivate me to start watching again.
It’s clear that MM and BM brought in the ratings. Y&R shouldn’t kid themselves. I’ve attempted to watch bits and pieces after the big confrontation to see what the follow up would be and predictably its more Adam bashing by the whole town while everyone else is a saint! Unwatchable! Sadly there is nothing else of interest left on the show.
Get rid of victor, he is a bully and I hate him.
Letting Billy Miller (Ex-Billy) and Michael Muhney (Ex-Adam)! go was ratings gold for CBS..
Of course CBS knew ALL would tune back in for their last week, BM and MM are loved! …………….
CBS came out like a bandit on the ratings on the blood of two of the greats!
Shame on them..

TPTB instituted a blood bath….
it’s only fitting that fan recoil… and hold Y&R at bay….
disconnect
Being a huge Michael Muhney fan… I am incredibly unhappy with his apparent demise. He was the main reason I was watching Y&R, he and his character Adam were superb! Without him it is just not the same. Having Brandon Barash come back as Adam would be a reason to stay tuned if not for Steve Burton and the hopes that Michelle Stafford will come back. Hope the numbers were to show support for Michael and Billy!!!
Sure, they were that high because we love them 2 and still do!!! Bring them back, the original ones, which I’m sure they won’t. We will miss you guys! Emmy tie for both.
I started watching YR about 2 years ago after ABC canceled AMC and OLTL.I was sad towatched the last few days of Billy Miller and Micheal M. It was powerful and intense situation, I got hook with these actors and I just can’t see watching YR any longer. The new Billy and unknown Adam, it just falls flat and feels like it another show. The story lines are weak and the acting seems flat from the vet. actors and not worth my time to watch.
I wish the best for both actors !
Not going to last. JFP needs to go. Bring back Victoria Rowell!
I MISS THEM BOTH ALOT THEY WAS THE BOMB PLEASE FIND A SPOT THEM AGAIN ON THE SHOW ..
I feel the same way can’t stand her!!!
Michael, as you can see, your post brought out the Muhney and Miller crazies who are hitting the boards all over the internet.
Most don’t even know that Billy Miller left on his OWN. Muhney? Let’s just say he wasn’t innocent. I have no idea why anyone would go to thes lengths to support someone who caused his own firing.
I will admit the posts here are real eye-rollers lol
While Miller did leave on his own, he had asked only one thing for his new contract: outs. Not more money, not bigger privileges or dressing room or anything like that, but the time off to do outside work so he could improve himself as an actor. Burton had a very lucrative contract that gave him outs, only 3 days a week work schedule, CBS/Sony agreeing to back projects he was working on … all things he admitted to in interviews. When as talented an actor, who only wanted to hone his craft and states that being Billy Abbott on Y&R is the best job he’s ever had & doesn’t want to leave it asks for one thing, outs, GIVE IT TO HIM. Don’t say, “Sorry, you can’t do outside work.” He’ll leave, which is exactly what Miller did.
As for Muhney, everything that’s been said against him has been based completely on an anonymous post on a soap web page. There has been no verification of any accusation, so let that be clear. NO BASIS FOR THIS AT ALL.
Muhney is outspoken, and has stated so in many interviews. But there has been nothing … NOTHING … to back the slanderous, libelous discussion against him. NOTHING has been proven in any way, shape or form, and until there is solid proof by a court of law, this man is definitely innocent until proven guilty.
How someone’s reputation can be so blackly smeared is horrible, especially when it’s all based on an anonymous post. No one at CBS, Sony, or Y&R IN POWER has made any comment regarding this matter. IF there were anything to prove or was anything of merit, they would make a statement and stand by it, no questions asked.
Well said! Please make a statement to clear this man’s name. My TV has been off since January 31st…I can’t bare to watch under these circumstances. Team Muhney all the way. I just discovered this website tonight and I’m glad to have a forum to express my feelings. My heart goes out to the Muhney family. We need to see Michael Muhney working again! God bless him and his family.
Very Fitting for the two AWESOME ACTORS–BEST ones the show HAD! February will see a PLUNGE in ratings for Y&R as True fans have left to make CBS fire JFP so she stops ruining the show. If we DON’T stop watching, CBS will take us for granted forever and keep her around! To think othersie is naive. CBS needs to SEE that we want Billy Miller RETURNED to the cast IMMEDIATELY, and we want JFP to stop killing our stories and bringing in all these 20 year old ROTTEN Actors and Actresses! Fire ALL the 20 year olds she brought in and bring back folks we haven’t seen in decades (WHEN IT WAS GREAT!)
I have watched Y&R from the very beginning, and I still love it…It’s so awesome that the ratings were so high on the last day of these two fantastic actors..I hope the ratings will continue to be high, no matter who is on or off the show.
Of course the ratings were at an all time highest. Every fan of Michael Muhney and Billy Miller tuned in to see their favorite actors of all time on the Young and Restless. Muhney Fans and Miller Fans are very loyal.
I have loved every single scene with Michael Muhney since he first started playing Adam Newman. He is so talented and he is just electrifying and his screen presence is just phenomenal. When he played BAD he played it so GOOD. When Romance was involved he was just so romantic and smooth. Both proposals: The one to Sharon in the restaurant and the proposal to Chelsea in the rain was like something out of a romance novel. I enjoyed all the love in the afternoons. Michael and Sharon just sizzled together when they were in New Orleans. If they gave out Emmys for the best love scene, Shadam would have won the Emmy hands down.
Michael is the kind of actor no matter what material they throw at him, he takes it, runs with it and knocks it out of the ballpark every time. When he is in front of the camera, you can’t take your eyes off of him. He owns the stage What is so sad, the redemption of Adam Newman was the best story line they had going . Seeing him back with Chelsea and Connor were so heartwarming and natural looking. I loved him with that baby. Watching him act with the baby twins proves what a loving, caring person he is. He has to be the greatest dad to his own children. I loved him with Jack, their friendship, both actors brought out the best of each other. MM could go toe to toe with The Great Victor Newman. MM did not back down. Thank you Michael Muhney for all the memories of Adam Newman. You made this character lovable when he really was not suppose to be.
Michael Muhney is the complete package…he is amazingly talented, fabulous looking and from everything I have read about him, and seen in pictures, is a loving and devoted family man. I will follow his career wherever it takes him. Sincerely hope it is not too long before we see him on TV or the big screen. R.I.P. Y&R h. Team Muhney All the Way. You can have your Old and Boring. You can have JFP. You can Have all your nasty rumors and the big bad Eric Braeden. I did the Muhney Walk on Jan. 30th.

Will victor ever die and stay dead? Hope soon.
I have watched this soap(Y&R since it began. There was another soap that started the same time that did not stay for very long called ,” How to Servive a marriage”.I think that Adam should be given another chance. I think he was very good. I feel the writers should find another person that was driving another car just before Adam reached that area, maybe from a side street that hit Delia killing her because we really did not see him hit her we just saw a car coming. Then Adam came along as the dog ran back out into the streets.I loved Billy as well,he played his part very well. Billy should return as well. I feel three of the most talented people has gone it will never be the same.No one can replace Mrs. Chancellor,Adam, or Billy, and certainly not Victor. Maybe Kelly can be that hit and run driver, I am sick of her already. Do not put Jack with his assistant! The police station is drab. Spice it up a little. It is time for Drew to return to the show .Bringing Niki’s old friend is tacky, he take away from the show.We do not need any slickers that ruin the lives of young girls acting out in Y&R. He seems to be starting to try ruining Nick and Jack’s daughter, that need to be nipped in the bud. no The cooffee shop need a makeover.Y&R once had these things going on but now that shoud be off limits because Y&R ha more class which causes people to watch it. I would love to see kevin get a break in Y&R because I feel he has earned it.where is Michael’ and Kevin’s mom, she brought life to the show as well.I am looking foward to watching more of Y&R.
I cried like a little girl when I watched the last episode with Michael Muhney in it. Not just because of him being fired, but that he remained professional and played that last scene his very best. Billy Miller, same thing. If he doesn’t get Best Actor this year, I will definitely be scratching my head!!
I have watched the young and the restless since 1974. I am very sad to see Michael Muhney leave the show. He played the role of Adam very well and his character will be missed. Now, so sad to see that the charactor Billy Abbott has been replaced with David Tom. I liked Billy much better than David Tom in the role of Billy Abbott. Good luck to both of these men in their next adventure.
What is wrong with this casting director? Billy Miller ROCKED as Billy Abbott. Plus he has a killer smile!! And Michael Muhney as Adam was good too. I understand there were some issues with him and his colleague. But bring back Billy Miller. Most fans would agree.
Thank you,
